Nice vid!
5:35 The Viper had an 8 liter V10 I'm afraid, not a V8
They were stupid easy to work on had a guy take me under his hood and show me the neon coil and the cherokee coil packaged together to make 10 just crazy they literally took off the shelf parts to make that beast
@@donaldliverance2597 it's essentially just a giant truck motor, the worst part is just the massive hood in the way ha ha
Yep
Also, the Ford Gt had a V8, Not a V6 ecoboost lol
@@shuruff904 uhhh the newer one does have a twin turbo v6
The ford gt used a supercharged 5.4 v8 the next generation used a twin turbo v6
I was gonna say they confused the specs with the new one
can't believe no one on the team caught when he said ecoboost for a 2005 car
That’s just embarrassing
They don't really know Subaru's either, it's okay lol
and the viper has only ever had a v10 but they said it was a v8
it's so common to see hellcats that it takes some of its credit away. they are actually technological and engineering masterpieces that have made 700hp affordable for the average person without having to be a millionaire to upkeep and come with a warranty. I'm a Shelby guy myself but still will acknowledge how magnificent of a job dodge did.
Not sure who scripted this episode but a couple mistakes were made lol
Also I hope James is okay? I was listening to a couple recent Past Gas episodes that didn’t have him in and also noticed he’s been off camera for a while? Well wishes from myself and many others I’m sure ❤

NEEEEEEE
Yup I finish every time 😂
To me it sounds like it's going weeeeeeeeeee At launch 😂
Fr
I know the hosts know their facts, but it’s a disappointing lack of oversight on the scriptwriters’ parts to make TWO mistakes with specs: 2005 Ford GT had a 5.4L V8, not a 3.5L EcoBoost, and the original Viper was an 8.0L V10 - not a V8. I would not put the blame on Jerry and Jobe, though, since they were reading something that should’ve been thoroughly reviewed.
Yeah dude, these guys just lost some major points not getting the basic and legendary American muscle cars specs correct. I mean geez...
They also had a picture of the Challenger Hellcat instead of the Charger

So happy to see the Vector W8 on the list. One of my favorite cars from American motoring history
6:20 the original Ford GT had a 5.4 liter NA V8 making 550 HP and 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, you have the specs for the 2017 Ford GT
EDIT: as pointed out, it was a supercharged V8, not naturally aspirated, but the point remains that it was a V8 and did 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, not 3
it was a supercharged v8, but yeah, not a v6
@@andrewholt6642 The 2005 gt had a 5.4 l supercharged v8 which was shown in the vdo, and the current gen Ford gt has the 3.5 l twin turbo v6 which they mentioned.
Lol just shows how much of a “car” channel this is these days, very sad to see how they’ve fallen
@@isaacanderson7160 yeah they definitely went more mainstream which makes sense for growth
@@isaacanderson7160 They also said in the video the first gen viper had a V8, but it was a V10.
The 2005/2006 Ford GT had a 5.4l Supercharged V8 not a 3.5l twin turbo V6 this came in the later 2016 Ford GT.
I was wondering why the Viper got so many generations mentioned and then they messed up the Ford GT.
They also initially said that the Viper had a V8. And they bleeped the ‘coque’ part of the word monocoque. I have found Donut’s “factual” videos to be consistently frustrating because they always get at least one fairly important detail absolutely wrong, which imo really ruins their credibility.
@Kevin Kaminski they have to bleep the "coque" part because CZcams is very dumb with their algorithm
i just love how the guys make sure they always stay up too date on everything n don’t make a video abt something that came out 6 months ago yk just appreciate that y’all actually get on it and be one of the first to make a video about it
04:50 Dodge Viper Gen 1 was 8.0L V10 not V8.
These budget of the WRX High-Low series seems to have hit hard, they don't even have budget to fact check. 😂😂😂
I dont think there ever was a V8 in the Viper
V10
Yup. Every generation of the Viper had a V10
the viper never came with a v8 they were wrong lol they also said the 2nd gen ford gt had a twin turbo v6 but thats not true it was a v8 with a supercharger
Zakspeed build a V8 viper for some endurance racing i believe
@@mrskylinegtt exactly, that was the only Viper with V8
Dope video guys! But the Viper only ever had a V10. And the 06 Ford Gt had a V8. Its why alot of people weren't happy that the newer one came with a V6.
Soon it will have a 2 cycle turbo.
I can't wait for the electric, wind powered Ford GT. We can put sails on it and pull with horses
dodge did have a v8 viper the GTS-Rs
@@dravermangaming7404 didn't know that! But I was referring to road cars mainly. And apparently there was a V10 GTS-Rs too. Car was a beast, won half of the races it was entered in

The Tuatara (the reptile lol) is super fascinating. It's the only one of its genus, family, and order. It isn't a lizard even. It's lived in some form for 250mil years. Crazy animal.

Yeah the person who did the research needs a talking to. They messed up on this one
@@rickerd83 Actually a bit surprised the lads themselves don't know this. If I got asked to say a Viper had a V8, I'd question that!
Also the GTO came with 389 not a 421. 421 was only available in the full size car
3:52 Haha love how you bleeped out "monocoque" to make it dirty.
Loved seeing the dvd bouncing logo. Great video all around!
The cobra was actually called the AC Ace, before Shelby renamed it Cobra
Yep. AC CARS 427. The predecessor to Shelby Cobra.
Yes, a British car was used as platform
There appears to be a number of errors in this video, The first gen Ford GT wasn't twin turbo, it was supercharged.
The original car was called AC289, Shelby replaced the engine and reinforced the chassis, and gave it the name of AC427.
The '64 GTO was only outfitted with the 389. The 421 was saved for its larger body brethren, like the Catalina.
Yeah, I was looking for someone to finally say this. The 1964 389 car did 6.6 second 0-60, the only Pontiac in the 20th century that did 4 and a half seconds on the 0-60 was the 1989 Trans Am Turbo with the Buick 3.8 Turbo V6
And the bonneville if im not mistaken.
Any of the big body Pontiacs could get a 421- But not any of the mid sizes. GM banned engines larger than 400 cubic inches in mid size cars up until 1970, hence why in that year cars like the Firebird, Cutlass, and Chevelle got their own respective massive engines (Pontiac 455, Olds 455, Chevy 454.) The 389 and 421 were bored out to 400 and 428 inches in '67 so Pontiac could keep the same power ratings they had the previous year without tri-power (Since GM did another silly ban that outlawed multiple carburetors on all cars except the 'vette.)
Yes, correct.
@@dinos0429 yep thats why the buick 401 is listed as a 400 in 65 and 66 gs cars.

Are we going to discuss the elephant in the room, the rolling start VS a standing 0-60? Because a lot of these numbers were from different starting techniques. The fastest numbers were all rolling start, BTW.
Yup.
@@trashcontent9637 AT 6 MPH, THEN THE TIME STARTED.
I was just going to say the same thing. All the older cars are standing 0-60 while everything from the tesla and up are rolling starts. Big difference in time.
Engineering Explained did a pretty good video on that and crunched the numbers on the Demon 170's hypothetical no-prep 0-60 time. It's kind of a meaningless metric when every manufacturer is using different rules
6-60 times 👍
So definitely some errors everyone is pointing out, but honestly this style of video is exactly what i miss! It is a nice return to form after all the tiktok hacks and buying weird car stuff.
Jeremy's impression of Carroll Shelby is eerily good.
I hope James is getting a much needed rest, but I will say these videos with the other guys has been refreshing. Keep up the great work.

I already have about a dozen or so Demon 170's on order so guys look forward to that on Donut in the near future!
I really never thought id see another year model demon. I bought one of the orignals for way over price but the car is pretty fast. Since then ive changed and upgraded alot for the goal of just seeing how far i could get. The egine is just built like a freight train and im now over 1000hp
Im I the only one that noticed that they said the ford gt had an ecobost engine when the car they had in the background was the 2005 version and that had a v8 engine😂
Including a 0-60 time with a rollout is a pure scam.
And making a video highlighting these misleading numbers is an even bigger scam and disservice to the younger generation that needs to learn about these cars the proper way
The insurance is the real scam. I payed 5 times the cost of my car over its life. I could have just bought 5 cars and crashed 4 of them.
Haven't watched the video yet, BUT the 1.66 second 0 to 60 is on a prepped surface, with specific tires AND with "rollout" which is about the time it takes to hit like 5 or 6 miles per hour. On the street you're looking at more like 1.9 depending on driver and tires. I may edit this after watching the video lol.
PERFECT HORSEPORK! I'd love to see you guys focus a video on that concept

1:42 the GTO in '64 only came with a 389 but did have 421 heads. The 421 was never available as a factory option for GTOs, being offered only in bigger Pontiac cars, but for extra cash the dealer could perform a 421 swap

You guys should discuss rolling 0-60 vs non-rolling -- a lot of times you see now are actually rolling 0-60s which shaves off 0.5-1s
Well, it's the Murican car makers and they have to cheat where they can. What's funny if you look at a company like Porsche or Mercedes-Benz, they give out the 0-60/62 numbers, but when you du an actual run, it's always a lower time then they claim. And it's done on regular streets, no glue to the track and tires and a full stop on the start. Not like the Muricans who like to roll and claim crap
Put it delivery tires, cold tire launch at the street from proper 0, drivers be lucky to escape with their life intact, many other on paper lesser cars will have a blast with that thing. Worst of them all when a family in a Tesla come and slay you at red lights, very shameful indeed. I am not American, but love the new C8 platform for that reason, repeatability and any man can drive it, even when the road itself turn.
@@luffararnesugerkuk just wait till the tesla battery's are flat and pull up next to them in your 33 year old Landcruiser and offer them a charge with your diesel generator knowing that in 10 years time that tesla is in the junkyard and your old Landcruiser is still driving around
