Been a Zep fan since the 70's. If I was allowed to pick one Zep song to take with me on a deserted island, it would be The Lemon Song. It's their masterpiece.

I love your enthusiasm for Zep, and watching your reactions are almost as good as hearing the songs for the first time myself. For many of their songs, every listen feels like the first time, and that's after many years of listening! There are a few songs that have been overplayed and I don't get quite as excited over, like "Whole Lotta Love". Even so, I'd rather listen to Zep than most other bands, they never get old. My list would be very close to yours, but I wouldn't be able to choose between "Ramble On" and "Thank You"
It is so hard to pick a favorite, but I think in terms of overall history and a place in rock, it would have to be Led Zeppelin I. It was the album that "burst rock at it's seams". It was measuring time in B.C. vs A.C., if I dare. It threw down the marker. They is so much great rock, but this is when it all changed. The only ones that can top Led Zeppelin is Led Zeppelin and that is what they did.
There’s no band like LZ. they have tracks that other bands you just can’t picture doing.
And yet other bands have tried anyway lol

Led Zep II is still my favourite album of all time. The rawness, the way they have taken the blues and added something totally different and the way their musicianship goes to another level, showcasing the growth in their individual styles and as a band developing their signature sand.

What we got was a much more organic album with lots more mellow tones,this was the album where Jimmy and Robert disappeared to a deserted cottage in the middle of Wales”Bron-Y-Aur and honed their incredible writing partnership
I’m now getting excited for you you have to look foreword to the 2.26 min opener powerhouse immigrant song, the absolute majestic masterpiece “Since I’ve Been Loving You(Live Madison Square Garden version is a must listen to also) the amazing traditional arrangement of Gallows Pole and the fantastic whist fullness of Tangerine and Thats The Way.........really looking forward to joining you in your trip down the rabbit hole 👍👍👍😎😎😎

Zep II is a masterpiece-
Hey Emmanuel, love the channel and your Led Zeppelin reactions man. I noticed a few of your vids got pulled by CZcams, to help keep them from getting pulled, just stop the song every once in awhile and maybe give some commentary/ cut or pause because i noticed if you play a song through in one take, CZcams recognizes the song and pulls it for copyright. Again, love the channel man, keep it up! - you should check out John Bonham's skills on (Moby Dick - Live - Royal Albert Hall 1970) Its insane!

As a Zep fan you should DEFINATELY check out The Led Zeppelin Kennedy Honors, Heart performing Stairway To Heaven with John Bonham's son Jason on drums. They do an incredible job...goosebumps. Robert, Jimmy and John LOVED it. I subscribed today. Watching you get into the band brings is back to the time I first heard them.
This song draws you in gently. . . soothing. . quiet. . . moody. . . bluesy. . . . then it *SMASHES YOU IN THE MOUTH* and you LOVE it!. . then it goes cool and quiet to kiss the bruises. .

I’m #930. Just found your reactions and I enjoy your trip down the Zep rabbit hole. They followed up the best debut LP ever with the greatest rock LP in history. I wore out both 8 Tracks back in the early 70’s.
This music transports me back to a place and time that was a heck of a lot of fun.

The live version of thank you from the paris theatre and the one from msg 1973 are both very good performances
It's not dark and slow; it's combining blues and then in your face rock and roll that only LZ can do. 500 yrs. from now, when people want to know what R&R is, this is it! The rock gods, for sure. There are quite a few great rock bands, But, LZ is always going to be on top FOR CENTURIES!!

I purchased this album in 1969 and still have it to this day. "Thank You " is and still remains my favorite Zeppelin song. It's "Just Lovely"!

I remember the crew I grew up with in the early '70's all dug heavy rock [as well as pretty every other genre but mainly heavy rock] and we would fight constantly over which album of our fave bands were great and those not so great. The one thing we had in common was that we demanded the very best from any band and flops were discarded or defended on their various merits, according to our particular tastes.
It might seem superfluous now but we took our music appreciation very seriously, primarily because these bands produced ever more demanding music and production of themselves and so we were as tough on them as they were on themselves. It's interesting that those of us who were into Led Zep, weren't big Who fans, Sabbath followers but not Pink Floyd fans and vise versa. Also, early band releases as opposed to later. Much of the time, each of our factions were unreconciled to a consensus, we just enjoyed the battle and the occasional agreeable crossover.
There was a tradition, especially in the UK of releasing new albums and touring concurrently, to see how the fans reacted. The best and most ferocious bands usually toured outside of their home base [usually London] to hard drinking hard bluing steel and shipbuilding towns in the north of England, to Scotland, Ireland and to Europe. There, they would find either acceptance or hostility to whatever was the latest musical fare on offer from that band. When the proving was complete, it was the Brits who brought the blues reinvention back to the US, where a thirsty audience had been pandered to for a decade in the early '60's with ''wholesome pop'' The Beatles and the Stones already broke ground there but nothing like the heaviness of Led Zep.

John Bonham 's drumming is fantastic on this track. His drumming is always fantastic, I mean it's more fantastic.
As people said, Robert played the harmonica (although Jimmy can and has but it's not his forte). A bit of trivia, this song is a reworking of the song originally recorded by Sonny Boy Williamson in 1963. Williamson toured the UK and in the audience was a young Robert Plant who somehow managed to get backstage and steal one of Williamson's harmonicas. This album was recorded almost entirely while on tour; they would duck into whatever recording studio was available in whatever city and lay down tracks. They are unbelievably fortunate none of those master tapes got lost.

Emmanuel - everyone has their own tastes and that's great. I should say this though: LZ2 is known for and considered a real hard rocker that pushed the boundaries of hard rock and defined it. Thank you is a wonderful song and I love it, however to choose it as your number 1 song on the album... well that's your choice. That being said, if you move next to LZ3 and then LZ4, they took a turn with their music, while still keeping some heavy rockers, they expanded into the softer side - developing their own brand of folk rock, for lack of a better term. It's brilliant. Considering your taste, you may be pleasantly surprised with what's to come. Great reactions! ***On second thought, Thank you is so brilliant that it's easy to understand that being anyone's choice.

They were master musicians when they started Zeppelin. In my opinion "The Rain Song" (Live) was their best masterpiece.

Now, that's how to close an album. Hat's off for putting Thank You and What is... high on your last; two of the most underrated tracks on this album. But, personally, I'd have The Lemon Song higher. Emmanuel, if you're going through the Led's catalog in order, which you should be doing, the best is yet to come; in my view, Led Zep Vol 4, and their sixth release, Physical Graffiti (that's a double album that shows their great diversity and their full range of influences). But, of course, Vol. 3 and Houses of the Holy are also masterpieces.

If I ranked the songs today, the ranking would be different next week and the week after that... etc. It's always hard to rank Zeppelin songs because so many of them are masterpieces and there are virtually no 'bad' songs. :)
Btw, it's almost as difficult with albums. Though my top 3 remain fairly constant: Physical Graffiti, II and IV. The order will change but it's usually those 3 and Physical Graffiti is number 1 most often. Led Zeppelin I creeps into my top 3 occasionally too. :)

Hey if you like southern blues / rock you should react to the Allman Brothers Band ..their Fillmore East Album...do the whole album....it’s considered to be one of the best live recordings in music history....it’s preserved in the Library of Congress....Duane Allman is also thought as one of the greatest slide guitar players ever .....it’s a 🔥 album
I could never make a ranking of Led Zep songs, because the more I got to know them the more they all tend to be number 1 all together for different reasons, except a few I might not like as much. So to me there's only a top 3 list where most are number 1, some ranked 2 and just a couple are ranked 3.

I remember playing this for my 10 year old son and watching him try to figure out the blues and harmonica.....then the drop......and he was blown away. :) I place Ramble On #1 and I place Thank You as number 6. I think Thank You fits better with the next album. I like bluesy songs, so Thank You is not in that mold. Great song, but it is further down the list.
Agree that Zep II is better than I. Zep II just has better songs across the board.
