My reaction to Led Zeppelin's serene and electric centerpiece "No Quarter". Let me know what other Zeppelin songs I should react to! #ledzeppelin #noquarter
There is also a great quote from Jimmy Page where he said he was talking to Keith Richards about going on tour, and Keith Richards asked who Jimmy was taking to play some of the other guitar parts, and Jimmy said "I'm playing them" 😍
Led Zeppelin were doing 3.5 to 4 hour shows in concert at this time, and every minute was electric. They loved playing as much as we loved watching them. No two shows were the same.
John Bonham said in an article once when you go to see The Beatles you go to see them when you go to see Led Zeppelin you go to hear them damn there it is
Apparently, this isn't the correct concert footage so my apologies! I had a lot of trouble finding this performance in decent video quality so I focused on reacting to the song more so than the visuals. Hope you all enjoy!
bro, here is the correct video of no quarter in love from 1973 to excellent quality, there are also other conicertos .... drive.google.com/folderview?id=1gVzavXHbCVlIQfpLlR-ql2dAgPBbM1jf
Emmanuel Flores I’d say start off with either I Can’t Quit you Baby, Bring it On Home, or What is and What should never be. After that i’d definitely say check out How Many More Times, same concert its a 16 minute version but its very worth it. The whole concert is amazing but i’d definitely say start there. Jimmy Pages tone in MASSIVE in this one.
“In my Time of Dying”! My favorite Zep tune! 😎👍✌️ J.PJ. THATS MUSICAL TALENT, AS THEY ALL ARE!!! You have to do a reaction to Steve Ray Vaughn. May I suggest “Texas Flood.” Bonzo drove Zep, like he was the wheel man driving a semi! One of the top five drummers of all time. My #1. Page and Plant blended their instruments beautifully. Plant’s voice, Page’s voice, what harmony!!!!
This is the correct version kinda. This version is the audio of the pre remastered 2007 version where for some reason jimmy cut down parts of his solo in the remastered so they just spliced together parts of the movie and the 1975 earl court performance with the full audio of the performance. So you did the right version this is probably one of it not Jimmys best improvised solo. Also great reaction hope Dazed and Confused Live and How Many More Times is coming!
You're well on your way, grasshopper. The '73 MSG shows are truly amazing, but I want to see you expand out a little to the '75 Physical Graffiti tour to check out In My Time of Dying and Trampled Underfoot live at Earl's Court. You can thank me later.
When you eventually re-listen to each Zepp song over and over and over again...which you will...the talent of John Bonham really rises quickly to the top...
I love that you are lovin Zep! 50 listening to them. They never get old, they are as fresh as the first time I heard them!!! I love their blues based stuff the best. Man you have to give Steve Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble a listen. This is one of Zep folk tunes. I love every genre they play.
It's even different to everything else on the album! There are certain tracks (and Zeppelin were partly instrumental in introducing this) that prefigure the sort of mythological psychodrama of modern heavy metal genres. This is a stepping stone towards that, although the standout element is John Paul Jones (real name John Baldwin) on the keys - almost the forgotten man in the group. He played bass, guitar, mandolin, keys, and probably the kitchen sink too.
I knew it before it was described to me later that Led Zep were changing the way I listen to music. They had all the familiar blues/folk/funk roots but now they were taking me on an odyssey into uncharted waters. All I had to do was uncouple what I was comfortable with and just slide into the groove and let the current take me on a trip through the ferocious to the mellow to the epic and back again. If there's a downside, their albums were so well crafted, that they demanded the pure studio production listening experience. To my ear, Pink Floyd were doing this at the same time but it wasn't till their album Meddle, that I discovered the same engine of story telling and reinvention, where strangely, the song remained the same. I think it fully clicked with me when Led Zep released their 2nd and third albums that a new story was being told. By then I was 14 -15 and my ear was now accustomed to not only hearing these wild vibes but I was hungry to know what came next. Apart from Pink Floyd, I can't name another band that fully embraced the old familiar with the new and exotic to such a powerful and beautifully crafted and executed quality. The proof is I can still listen to them 50 years later with a fresh ear. signed: the dolphins off the starboard bow.
I saw TSRTS 21 times in the theater, well before any videos were out (1975) the place was sold out every time. In college I listened to No Quarter before exams to get me psyched up!
Each Zep song is it's own journey. Each member had different styles and influences, were each great artists in their own right, and in the place where they came together Led Zeppelin was created. It was a magical coalescence. Watch "Moby Dick" for the awesomeness of Bonham. Feel the thunder!
You need to check out the " Page and Plant NO QUARTER " album. It was done with an "Egyptian Orchestra", middle eastern of some kind. I've read that it wasn't Egyptian but some other type of middle eastern orchestra. But if you can find it Kashmir is great, the whole thing is wonderful ! Anyone who hasn't listened to it should really give it a listen !
And sometimes they came up with songs while just goofing around with a friend...check out Rock n' Roll and Boogie With Stu, with their buddy Ian Stewart of The Rolling Stones sitting in on piano.
When I was in elementary school I rediscovered Led Zeppelin. I say redisvovered because I was the youngest of 4 kids. I fell in love with them. I remember saying this is their song to. Damn ! I actually looked for work to buy their albums moving lawns raking leaves till I had every single last tape. Tape decks were all the rage in the early mid late 80s and very early 90s.. stay up all night recording music off the radio with my Technique stereo.... Good Times
Imagine being there to see it live , i was 13 yrs old Madison Square Garden 1977 ive not been right ever since and went out and bought a les paul custom sunburst the next day ,been playing ever since !!
I had to hurry to watch your reaction before they start taken it down. When they did this in 2007 JPJ had a beautiful piano piece in the middle that was also jazzy. You should definitely check out that also.
even though you don't have that many followers yet, your reaction stands out because it is so professional. Don't know if it's the research on the band, the great lighting or just how genuine it seems. either way, great stuff
Dude...their live performances are incredible...and legendary..BUT...you should really listen to the studio/album versions FIRST. It will give you a better idea of what you are listening to.
It’s pure mood. Just take a hit, sit back, and feel the mood, and follow where they take you. I would recommend what Mark Acura suggested and become someone who likes their talent. Especially when you realize these guys were barely twenty years old when they started to put out these gems. To add to the theme of “No Quarter”, I suggest “Battle Of Evermore”.
Jimmy Page’s and the band’s ability to create different moods and textures (listen to JP’s use of the wah pedal in this song) is the greatest of any band in history.
I don't know who edited this video. It is from the 1973 MSG concert but it should be showing JPJ's fantasy which was a sort of Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde on horseback kinda thing featuring his real family. Too bad someone messed with it..
there was a recent poll on a major rock radio station. pick the best ever band by picking best ever individuals for vocals, drums, bass, and guitar robert plant cames 1st for vocalist bonham came 1st for drums page came 2nd for guitar and jonesy came 3rd for bass theoretically the best band ever actually is led zeppelin lol
You are extraordinarily lucky. Somebody took the original live album version of the song and splice it into the movie video with a couple of adjustments. Jimmy Page's line in, the tightness with the John's, and the crescendo are all amazing here. You are spoiled forever for this song.many would say that it's not real, that it's a spice of different nights, fine. This combination is the one that speaks to your heart and gives you hope
Rhodes keyboard. I've been playing keys since I was 8. I'm 63 now and a bit rusty. I played drums for a couple of years in school. Definately wanted to be a drummer. Parents were pretty adamant about the no drums rule. LOL I wish I knew Dave Grohl learned on pillows.
'That haricut!'. I read somewhere that some stuff needed to be reshot, by which time JPJ had cut his hair short, so he had to wear a wig for continuity.
Many great tunes you could react to from Zeppelin. Where to start. You could go song for song starting with the Zeppelin 1 Album, and go through each album. You will find their sound changes from one album to the next. They were always pushing the envelope. They are Gods of Rock. Too many songs to list. Here is a short list i have. Rain Song Lemon Song When the Levee Breaks Trampled Under Foot Ten Years Gone Moby Dick Live Song Remains the Same Immigrant Song D'yer Maker Dancing Days Since I Been Loving You Babe I'm Gonna Leave You Bonzo's Montreaux Carouselambra Kashmir Black Dog Many Many More to list
Music is from the movie, video is spliced up scenes from the movie, but not JPJ's fantasy sequence. You might want to listen to the studio version on your own to get a feel for this song. Also, to get a good feel for John Paul Jones' skills, check out Ramble On and The Lemon Song. Thanks for these reactions.
"Where are we going John?" Well we are just going to make the most amazing music in the world.... It is like asking Bach or Beethoven where are we going... exactly where we should be :-)
Just a quick comment. Just because the intensity increases it doesn't mean the tempo is any different. The tempo stays the same throughout. Great comment about Bonham though, a lot of people overlook the band comping the soloist.
The audio is correctly from the movie "The Song Remains the Same", but the video is not, the shots of JPJ is from somewhere else, with some movie cuts added.
I like your Pink Floyd shirt I saw Pink Floyd in the early 70s and I saw Led Zeppelin in the early 70s on a scale of 1 to 10 I'll give Pink Floyd about a 7 live and I'll give Led Zeppelin about 7800 don't get me wrong I love Pink Floyd but Led Zeppelin are gods
Want to hear John Bonham and John Paul Jones.....react to "Dazed and Confused" (audio) from gthe Mothership album and you will hear what John and John can do....and what music they bring to the band. John Bonham is the key.
"I dont think I've heard a zeppelin song that sounds like this yet". Yea thats every song.
When JPJ is on keyboards he plays bass with foot pedals. Genius.
i was just about to say that lol
Whaaaaat?!?! How is that even possible? Genius!
he did it all the time live, ps i cant wait for dazed! il be watching intently to see your reaction when jimmy gets the bow out!
There is also a great quote from Jimmy Page where he said he was talking to Keith Richards about going on tour, and Keith Richards asked who Jimmy was taking to play some of the other guitar parts, and Jimmy said "I'm playing them" 😍
@@emmanuelflores9983 Geddy Lee of Rush does the same thing.
"It's a slow burn"
I've been burning it for 45 years since I first heard this album
Led Zeppelin were doing 3.5 to 4 hour shows in concert at this time, and every minute was electric. They loved playing as much as we loved watching them. No two shows were the same.
I was there awesome 👌 👏 👍
John Bonham said in an article once when you go to see The Beatles you go to see them when you go to see Led Zeppelin you go to hear them damn there it is
The interplay between Page and Bonham is the secret to Zeppelin’s live performances. If you listen you can hear how in synch they are.
That groove the 2 Johns lay down during the middle part is just so dang cool
check out the listen to this eddie version, jonesy has a 10 minute jam in the middle of that
Agreed, one of my favorite parts.
Led zeppelin they are untouchable the greatest band ever in the history of music
Achilles Last Stand live from Knebworth 1979! Guaranteed you will be taken to the next level my friend!🤘🏻
Great rec! Looking forward to this.
I have that on vinyl.
I have that on vinyl.
Apparently, this isn't the correct concert footage so my apologies! I had a lot of trouble finding this performance in decent video quality so I focused on reacting to the song more so than the visuals. Hope you all enjoy!
My dude, you gotta react to something from their Royal Albert Hall concert in 70. Trust me
bro, here is the correct video of no quarter in love from 1973 to excellent quality, there are also other conicertos ....
drive.google.com/folderview?id=1gVzavXHbCVlIQfpLlR-ql2dAgPBbM1jf
onebigchicken Got a specific song I should check out? Keep hearing about this performance!
The other one is simply amazing...not sure where it was
Dazed n confused do not I repeat do not cut up that song u need too watch the whole 28 minutes of it in order too make sense
Don't worry bro I got you!
Yes yes yes
It's amazing how few reactions there are to it on here. I know it's a long track, but it is absolute gold....no platinum....Page at his very best :)
“In my Time of Dying”! My favorite Zep tune! 😎👍✌️ J.PJ. THATS MUSICAL TALENT, AS THEY ALL ARE!!! You have to do a reaction to Steve Ray Vaughn. Truly outstanding guitar solo, often missed.

Killer Song Jimmy goes off here leaves the planet
Once upon a time we said, but Jimmie, what are you saying! We knew we're seeing, history be made! Saw them 5 times, magic!
Jimmy has a few truly wonderful solos...thats one of ‘em fer sure !
one of jimmys greatest solos, often overlooked. a pity the fantasy sequence ruined any visuals of jimmy playing one the greatest solos of all time.
Yes indeed!!
No Quarter is one of those Zeppelin songs you need to tread carefully. This and Babe have so much Zeppelin energy in them, not for the faint of heart.
They p!ayed many styles of music and did them all impeccably.
One thing you should know..this version live no quarter...is one of the greatest live guitar solo from jimmy page..noted!!!

I've been listening to them for more than 50 years. Their allure is in their unpredictability. Four musical geniuses.

"Where are we going with this John?"
Oh boy, we're going on an adventure!

He pulled the Led out again! 🙌🏼💕. Thank you Emmanuel. Loved your reaction. Yes, they created many different and awesome multifaceted tunes.💎🔥💎🔥💎🔥💎🔥
Amazing bad ass guitar work,,what stood out for me,,and yes best live version of one of my favorite zeep tunes .
You’re gonna love Kashmir too. For another great one, check out In My Time Of Dying live at Earls Court from 1975. Great reaction!
Do the studio version of in my time of dying and then the live version back to back
Finally some one does a non typical song reaction. Kudos
And sometimes they came up with songs while just goofing around with a friend...check out Rock n' Roll and Boogie With Stu, with their buddy Ian Stewart of The Rolling Stones sitting in on piano.

This song took me me on many Tripp’s 😂
All three instruments playing together 1 dynamic !!
The Houses of The Holy album is very diverse, many styles. No Quarter is on that album.
This song has one of the best solos ever put down on record. Live or studio.
PAGE IS LORD OF THE RIFFS FOR SURE !!! best guitarist ever !!!
You should react to their rendition of No Quarter from their 2007 reunion concert. Its so tight.
Masterpiece
this is one of my favorite rifts to play, heavy zeppelin is heavy
My favourite song a real trip
Great North Vikings lives
Imagine being there to see it live , i was 13 yrs old Madison Square Garden 1977 ive not been right ever since and went out and bought a les paul custom sunburst the next day ,been playing ever since !!
The instrumental section of this song is highly underrated - absolutely sublime. Bonham, JPJ and Page were untouchable.
I had to hurry to watch your reaction before they start taken it down. When they did this in 2007 JPJ had a beautiful piano piece in the middle that was also jazzy. You should definitely check out that also.

Agree +++++
Best of the best song ever on earth . i means rock song played on live,
Well done !
you really need to see the original cut of the movie, you will love it
It’s pure mood. Just take a hit, sit back, and feel the mood, and follow where they take you. I would recommend what Mark Acura suggested and become someone who likes their talent. JPJ is playing Fender Rhodes piano with reverb and vibrato, Brilliant stuff
Great track, enough said.
Jimmy Page’s and the band’s ability to create different moods and textures (listen to JP’s use of the wah pedal in this song) is the greatest of any band in history.

pick the best ever band by picking best ever individuals for vocals, drums, bass, and guitar
robert plant cames 1st for vocalist
bonham came 1st for drums
page came 2nd for guitar
and jonesy came 3rd for bass
theoretically the best band ever actually is led zeppelin lol

Great !
This song uses to scare me as a kid...another Zeppelin masterpiece
Check out the studio version
To give no quarter, means to show no mercy.
Dazed and confused live at MSG!!!
Coming up next! :-)
I was there
After you listen to more LZ, you will be giving Bonham & JPJ alot of credit.
Ramble On
Yes! Sooo good!
'That haricut!'. I read somewhere that some stuff needed to be reshot, by which time JPJ had cut his hair short, so he had to wear a wig for continuity.

Please try Black Summer White Mountainside. Or a video called They call him Jimmy. One of the finest pieces of guitar you will ever hear.
Acoustic set from earls cout a omg with trampled underfoot, in my time of dying
its from 1975 Earls Court concert
Rip karack God bless you
You're not going to find live versions of all their songs, unfortunately. Hopefully you do some of the studio cuts as well.
The greatest live guitar solo of all time. Nothing can touch it. It’s a shame there is no video of it. It was cut for the JPJ fantasy sequence.
It is like asking Bach or Beethoven where are we going... exactly where we should be :-)
Another great headphone album you should check out is "The 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus" by Spirit.
Just a quick comment. Just because the intensity increases it doesn't mean the tempo is any different. The tempo stays the same throughout. Great comment about Bonham though, a lot of people overlook the band comping the soloist.
Bonzo best drummer their ever was period
When the levee breaks .. babe I'm gonna leave you .. battle of evermore .. I can go on and on lad ~ .. lol 😉
This is John Paul Jone's song. They follow him.
The audio is correctly from the movie "The Song Remains the Same", but the video is not, the shots of JPJ is from somewhere else, with some movie cuts added.
👍
Now....
You must give John Bonham a listen...
check out his 1973 Madison Square Garden 'Moby Dick' solo....
One of the greatest drum solos ever.
It’s a shame this is not the actual Song Remains The Same Video for this song.
But that solo has a mind-blowing!
I keep suggesting " how many more times" but I guess everyone thinks I don't know what I'm talking about.🤔
This video edit doesn't show John Paul Jones's full fantasy, but the sound quality is good
Their "folk" style dominant in Zep III
The Immigrant Song - Live.
Those are not John Paul Jones fantasy sequences from the movie. They added different parts of movie here.
You interrupted the best live guitar solo of all time. Lawd.
Want to hear John Bonham and John Paul Jones.....react to "Dazed and Confused" (audio) from gthe Mothership album and you will hear what John and John can do....and what music they bring to the band. John Bonham is the key.
This is more a medieval song, about battles No Quarter means No Mercy.
Please listen to battle of evermore by zeppelin
No Quarter = No Mercy, like pirates.
The Ocean. You won't be disappointed. But I prefer the studio version.
