Bro, this isn't just ANY BAND, this is the Greatest Rock Band of ALL TIME!
If you really want to KNOW them, there is only one way...
Do each album in chronological order, one song/reaction at a time.
This is the Ultimate Rabbit Hole, BUCKLE UP!
Also, do not pause during the song, as you don't want to break "immersion", then give your thoughts afterward.
This is the greatest musical journey you could ever undertake, and you will be amazed at being blown away by every song.
The Hammer of the Gods isn't just a nickname....
    The Allmighty
    LED ZEPPELIN!
Now, let's get the LED out!!!

Back in the day the very first thing you heard, from Zeppelin, were those two massive chords at the beginning of this track. They make you jump with shock. What a way to grab a listeners attention. Then you get the thunder of John Bonham's drumming. He really goes to town on this track.

There is no doubt you're becoming a Zep Head or Ledhead, as is one of my nicknames, but I prefer Ledzepnut, which is on my car license plate as well :) (LDZPNT) (I'm 59 and drive a Dodge Charger Hemi)
You made a good choice in starting out with the first song from the first lp .. I recommend you continue with the order, every song is a gem, and trust me, you'll love them all, or you will at least appreciate the ones that aren't quite as good as most of them are ... Keep it going, I appreciate when someone from your generation loves what our generation had the privilege of growing up with, the 70's :)

Chronological order is the way to go with Led Zeppelin. Especially if you’re going to listen to most of their stuff. Probably the best way is to do a reaction song by song. I’m not being hyperbolic when I say they have no bad songs... you’ll see.

They thing with LZ is that it depends on your mood on certain days, in my case each album is my favorite. Darlene is a song that I listen to very often for the happy Rock and Roll and Jones' piano cuts, especially his piano solo. For me they don't have any bad songs, maybe Hats off .... but I still like to listen to it in mono since the guitar work is very original and Plant's voice is heard from afar.

I love your channel. I discovered Zeppelin when I was 14 years old in 1981. This band has been like a second religion for me ever since. I like the fact you're listening to the live performances because that's what separates Zepp from every other band. All I would suggest is as you listen to each live song, find your favorites and then listen to the bootleg versions of those favorite songs from other concerts. You'll be amazed at how they changed these songs live from each tour. Even though their catalogue is only 9 albums and roughly 90 songs, the live versions make it seem like a thousand. (Achilles Last Stand Knebworth 1979 will melt your face off)

This is the first thing you hear from Led Zeppelin. You seem to have the volume down. Imagine as a teenager bringing this album home. You put it on the stereo. Crank up the volume, not knowing what to expect, and all of a sudden "Boom- Boom", two massive chords, shortly followed by another two. Man that grabs your attention.

The statement you were looking for lays in the drumming of John Bonham with the bass triplets. Although this was not new it was used by jazz drummers and was new to the rock genre. As far as what was there first song, that goes to Dazed and Confused. This song was a Jimmy Page song from his time in The Yardbirds, was wrote in 1967, and although the original version leaves much to be desired from the classic Led Zeppelin version it is available to listen to on youtube. Page originally formed the band as The New Yardbirds and the name was changed to Led Zeppelin soon thereafter. That's also why it is not considered a cover.

Did you realize Zepp1 and Zepp 2 both came out in 1969? Zepp 3 came out in 1970 and Zepp 4 in 1971. Can you imagine any group today having such an explosion of great music to start off in a short period of time. I like this song but I Love Communication Breakdown. To me Communication Breakdown is Good Times Bad Times on steroids. And please make sure you give "How many more times" a listen. I think it's a close second to best song on the album behind "Dazed" Yet it gets very little fanfare. This is one of those albums that will grow on you the more you listen to it.

Do it song by song with a few exceptions where two songs were meant to be listened to back to back such as Heartbreaker / Living Loving Maid and The Song Remains The Same / The Rain Song. Had a thought on how to react to individual songs but still get the album feel. When you move on to the next song, start with the last 30 secs of the prior to experience the transition. So, when you tee up immigrant song, start with the last moments of good times/bad times.

Please, please, please go in album/track order! Do not skip a thing, do each song individually to give it full attention. If it gets blocked, you know you have other options to get it posted. For this album, Robert and Bonzo were each 19 and Jonesy and Jimmy were 22 and 23, respectively. The album took some 30 hours to record and was paid for by Jimmy and manager Peter Grant. They didn't have a label contract yet, they took the completed album and shopped it to labels, ending with Atlantic who paid an unprecedented sum (at the time) for a new act. Jimmy did occasional guitar solos with The Yardbirds but nothing like what he did with Zep. Welcome to the LA family!! Let me know if you have any questions. 😊

    Here I go again:
I've mentioned this fact more than a few times in the comment section of LZ reaction vids.
Back in Oct 1968, I was a 21 y/o American college studying in London (Econ at LSE) and I went to the Marquee Club to see a band called The Yardbirds (Google them to see the legendary guitar players they birthed). What I ended up witnessing was the BIRTH of a new band called Led Zeppelin. I wasn't immediately impressed by the singer... I thought the guitar player was ehhh. As a drummer, the one that OVERWHELMED me was the beast behind the kit. I left the show with lukewarm feelings about them. Their first album to me was more of the same. It wasn't until LZ 2 when I became a HUGE fan of theirs. For me, the first Zep album is a throw away effort; an introduction. Two is a STATEMENT and pronouncement of what would come to be.

  • @Young_Jim
    @Young_Jim Před 4 lety

I think if you really want to know the band, you have to go through their work on a song by song basis one album after another. Zeppelin’s music went through different phases as they grew in stature and mastered their art, just as most great bands and artist’s did. I’ts a long journey but you obviously love the music so you will find it very worthwhile.

Great Review. How did they start off? A statement to the rock world that there's a new band on the block? lol, have I got a video for you! You should really listen to the link I left below regardless as to whether or not you do a "review". It was recorded live in 1969 for a Danish television station to promote their first album and introduce the band to the public. They performed on a tiny stage in a small room in front of about 30 or so kids who sat in stunned silence. The band had only been together for about 5 or 6 months, Robert Plant (singer) and John Bonham (drummer) were only 19 or 20 years old, John Paul Jones (bass) and Jimmy Page (guitar) were only 23 or 24 at the time. The entire promo concert is about 31 minutes long and includes 4 songs - "communication breakdown", "babe I'm gonna leave you". "dazed and confused" and "how many more times". Their performance has been hailed as one of the most pivotal moments in Rock history. Keep in mind this is a live performance in front of a tv studio audience, it has not been "touched up" or remastered in any way. This is the original recording that aired on live television.

It looks like you sample 2 cuts from the album that are both on the rockier side. There is a lot of diversity on this album - Acoustic (along the lines of later Going To California) in Black Mountain Side - here is a live version from 1979 then called White Summer/Black Mountain Side - just Jimmy and his guitar and some Bonham thrown in. czcams.com/video/14-7bIJcpbQ/video.html; Folk/Acoustic - Led Zeppelin style - Babe I'm Gonna Leave Your from 3-1969 around the time LZ1 was released czcams.com/video/fODt3iBXNv4/video.html; BLUES!!! - I Can't Quit You Babe - from 1-1970 - starts off with We're Gonna Grove - Blues starts around 3:17 - czcams.com/video/o3XpvxdlhAA/video.html; Great fun jam of How Many More Times also live from 3-1969 Denmark czcams.com/video/qSIS0o7vtPE/video.html I hope you'll check these out. Based on your reactions and that you've chosen to go down the rabbit hole - I think you'll enjoy these

I don't really care what other people might say, to me there was very good Rock n' Roll before Led Zeppelin, and there was very good Rock n' Roll after Led Zeppelin.

remember, Grand Funk Railroad out rocked Led Zep. GFR was kicked off of the tour because LZ got jealous that GFR got more encores. Facts.
want a reason? in reply is GFR live ...3 piece garage band...at 20-21 years of age.

You really need to hear every song on every album. There are only a handful of songs that some don't care for. Not saying you have to post every reaction, but for your own experience, do all of them. Just my opinion.

Haha, you fool, you've just started - the problem is that you will end up loving this band and after you've heard them and work out how incredible they are you will compare everything to them and very little else will satisfy your ears, your mind and your soul. Welcome!

Manny, I viewed all of your videos. I can’t subscribe because you don’t feel the dynamic of drummer John Bonham, as you don’t mention him enough. Apparently, even at your age, making videos of a band with the magnitude of Led Zeppelin, your just too uninformed.

Good Times, Bad Times: they crashed and burned completely after this, like a lead zeppelin. Just a bunch of nobody musicians by 1972.
