Here’s my guess about the stuff stamped into the lower control arm at 4:04 - it’s a list of the elements that make up the alloy:
Al Aluminum
Si Silicon
Mg Magnesium
Cu Copper
Mn Manganese
Winner, winner, chicken dinner
I was just in the process of listing the same when I saw your post. You beat me to the punch!
Yep
Came down here to say exactly this. Commenting for the algorithm gods. 👍️
As I looked at it, I was thinking the exact same thing, and then I went to check to see if anybody else commented... and congratulations! We paid attention in science class 😁
AlSiMgCuMn = Aluminium, Silicon, Magnesium, Cuprum (copper), Manganese. Some kind of alloy.
I was confused too and I speak Spanish 😂😂 that’s not even Spanish 🤣
Was just going to say the same thing
Came here to say this
That helps to recycle it later.
@@messybench smart
4:06 I think it's the alloy, Aluminum, Silicon, Magnesium, Copper, and Manganese
Maybe for recycling purposes?
Aluminium lol
I would have thought the woman who pronounces Al as aluminium would have hopped right on this! :)
Indeed. A quick Google search pulled up AlSiMgCuMn is often names 6056 Aluminium alloy specifically for extruded billet, extruded and drawn products. Sounds about right for lower control arms.
Came here to type the same thing.
Ford was caught by surprise. If they had the factory capacity and the parts, this could have been one of the best selling cars in their history. They can easily sell 200,000 of these the first year, alas, they are only making not even 5000 a month, a fraction of what the demand is. People want an inexpensive, but capable, truck, and this is a brilliant design.
It would be an excellent truck but not the best selling, maybe outside of the USA
Parts has been a problem industry wide. I work at Subaru, and we haven't been building the Ascent for a week because of a lack of parts mainly chips. But also some of our supply contractors have Manning problems.
@@carholic-sz3qv I could see this being popular in Europe.
It's the Ford mustang of the truck world. As a Subaru Baja owner, it sucks Subaru was an easy 20 years ahead of it's time. Its my second and I freaking love this truck. And to be able to now buy a hybrid version with a lil more ground clearance, even from Ford, is awesome. Rumor has it they're adding awd to the hybrid options. Fx4 hybrid?? Absolutely. Sold.
i think certainly as a year 1 sales record on a fully new vehicle it could have made records as you said if they had the capacity
I bought my Maverick out of desperation when it was time to start commuting again, but it only took a couple trips to make me appreciate all it had to offer. Glad to see the community is accepting it as well!

What’s your commute like? Do you have the hybrid or 2.0? Miles/week? Traffic? Mpg?
I commute about 500 miles/week in my grandmothers 2012 focus. It’s at 112k and still has some life left but I’m seriously considering a Maverick when the focus gives out.
@@willadams8558 I've got the 2.0 Ecoboost XLT w/FX4. If the majority of a tank is highway and I'm trying to be conservative, I can get around 30mpg. Average when combined with city miles is closer to 24/25mpg. I'd definitely keep it in mind and try driving both drivetrains to see which suits you better!
@@MA5T3RX That’s not too bad at all. Thanks for the reply
My Wife absolutely loves her Maverick! 43 mpg "My wife's average" is a game changer for a truck that spends most days just commuting. Totally love this little truck.
Junk Subaru is better, nobody cares about Ford.
@@kingchakazulu7762 Ford F150 largest selling truck on the planet. 40th straight year. Guess that's a lot of nobodies. ; )

Al = Aluminium
Si = Silicon
Mg = Magnesium
Cu = Copper
Mn = Manganese
Probably the makeup of the metal used.

Girl is coming up on a half a million sub....Well deserved Sarah
Shall we all just admit that Sarah is our car girl dork Godess?
I’ve watched every maverick review I can find especially since I ordered mine a few months ago. Possibly the best review I’ve seen, even more excited to get mine.
Thanks!
Poor simp. You know it doesn’t come with a chick in shoe skirt right?

This is an example of your reviews that I love, it covered everything I wanted to know about this truck and was equipped the way I wanted. Plus you took it off road like nobody else had.
The hill climb made me smile when you made it up!!! Your excitement was awesome!
Sarah , your excitement about this truck has given me a new outlook for it. I wasn’t a fan when I first saw the pictures and even seeing one on a dealer lot. I may have to drive one myself and see. It will be interesting to see where ford goes with this truck going forward.
This is the first time I have seen one of your videos. I loved it! You clearly know your stuff. I just picked up my Maverick a week ago and have been loving it. We have had a bunch of snow here and it's been just great in the slippery stuff.
Ford needs to change a few of their plants to Maverick only. Furthermore, it'd be great to see one come with a stock bed cab or a "Fleet" configuration with tool storage.
Its a unibody. No frame on which to bolt any other bed. Its going to be hugely popular, so you can count on companies like Decked to build storage solutions for the bed. And it already can be bought with a windowless shell on the back that has side opening doors for access to tools.
YES… Sarah not only slipped pengi into the tow hook recess, but acknowledged his inventiveness in getting into the crevice! Glad they’re still friends 😘
14:55 that climb was incredible, didn’t NOT expect that from this truck… respect ✊🏿
Yes! This is the exact make and model Maverick I was hoping you would test because it’s the one I want, same color too. I have watched a lot of Maverick review videos, this is the best one I’ve seen. Thanks!
Glad to see your reviewing this truck. So far I really like the one I bought back in November.
Best review so far! You made it interesting and joyous. Weirdly, I don't aspire to own such a vehicle, but if I did, I would check this out based on your enthusiasm. Yay Sarah!
Great video. Outstanding automobile expertise and knowledge perfectly portrayed. Excellent graphics, sound, and camera work. Sarah could be reviewing toasters and I'd be riveted.
My wife was looking at one of these yesterday. Your review has been sent to her. Thanks Sarah.
Love this video & review! You are 100% right. Car companies need to make these types of great affordable trucks / cars.
pretty sweet, its like a normal size truck from the 90s
Thanks for putting so much effort in doing vehicle reviews especially when it appears you do it all yourself. Love the underneath segment, it really shows how the suspension and undercarriage is configured and the explanation of it. You know your stuff and the quality of your content displays that ✌🏽❤
One of my favorite parts of your videos is during the give it the beans segment. It's hilarious when you're commenting on how fast you think it is, and then you looked down to the speedometer and realize how fast you're going. You have that momentary holy s*** look in your eyes.
I can't believe it made that climb with street tires !
those aren't street tires.
Saw one in person while working and man this truck is the perfect compromise of a useful little pickup.
I've been hoping you would review a Maverick, so THANKS - LOVED IT!
Well done off roading! Answered a few big technical questions as usual too!
You're awesome, love your energy!
My Lariat AWD is on order and will become a modern sport truck. And yes, it will definitely see some powertrain tuning. Can't wait.
It will be automatic and a V6, stop it son.
This is "the" best review of any vehicle reviews that i've ever seen. Subscribed & looking forward to see all the videos. Kudos @Sarah -n- Tuned Amazing review & great energy!!
Of all the reviews on the Maverick, yours is the most fun of all of them.
The little engine that could! I loved this review and your enthusiasm for this youthful, practical, ute. I was amazed by your driving, along with the truck's capability on your Journey up the test hill. Loved the 80s-ish soundtrack along with your vision of modifying one of these. My wishlist option would be a roll up rear window like the Sport Trac. You kicked it!
I love a roll up rear window. My favorite thing about the 4runner
@@christopherfranklin6277 I kind of miss the old smokers vent windows by the windshield too. Wouldn't need AC much if you had both.
Love the hill climb! You actually had me rooting for you, and I actually was skeptical as to whether you were going to clear it at about the three quarter way point. I love how you were bursting with fruit flavors when you got to the top!! 😆💯
I agree... towards the end I was sitting up rooting for the maverick like it was my favourite team
Great Review Sarah, I truly enjoy how you make reviews fun again :)
So much fun to see that little truck make it up that hill!
I think that the control arm that has the AlSiMgCuMn is the materials used to make it. So Aluminum, Silicon, Magnesium, Copper, and Manganese
Your probably right, but why would they stamp that on the control arm?
You are right. It's recycling related to mark the parts.
Englisch (UK)
This alloy is one of the best for chassis parts
I had actually been looking at the potential of one of these - was _not_ expecting it to have that much off-road ability, wow. The really neat thing is that they are highly customizable with packages and add-ons. You can actually do a "luxury" version of that same FX4 package. You can also do stuff like opt-in for a full size spare (which... would be nice if they just included that, but ah well). Very awesome review!
A bit disappointing though that the 'full size' spare is not the same size as the tires mounted on the vehicle. Had i known that i wouldn't have paid extra for it.
@@muldoon493 Well crap! I also paid for that option. Still waiting for mine to be built..
Best review I’ve seen on the Maverick, informative n entertaining.
I dig what you do and I dig how you do it!
Cheers!
Excellent review Sarah. It's always fun to watch your reactions.💓
Sarah you always hit the points that everyone wants to know and then some IMO. This is the best review I've watched on the Maverick. Love the channel...
That penguin sure is living its best life with Sarah. Great video Sarah.
Absolutely your best review in my opinion.
I have a Hybrid lariat Mav and I absolutely love it. Fuel economy is awesome and it’s exactly the amount of truck I need.

Not to be found outside of the OG Top Gear.
That is rare air.
Ford will be selling a lot of Mavericks due to Sarah's enthusiasm. The big question remains, though. How will it hold up over time?
its an eco boost, I would avoid it for longer term
First you have to find one!

Thanks for the review. Gonna have to look at that package to order!
Thanks Sarah! Awesome review and very helpful! I'm looking to get one of these too, and appreciate all the aspects of the vehicle you covered.
I remember riding in my friend 1975 maverick so it’s hard for me to equate the name to a truck. Good review!
Yes same here. Weird name choice. The original Maverick if worked on was a great sleeper car with an engine swap. The old factory stock Maverick was at best a malaise era grocery getter.
They could have brought back the Courier name.
I know right
@@hairyballing9901 Before making a ridiculous statement regarding Ford's marketing of the Maverick. You might want to take a look at the Maverick's success before making your statement.
The 2022 Ford Maverick has thus far proven to be a hit with consumers, earning awards including 2022 North American Truck of the Year and taking just four days to turn on dealer lots amid a successful social media campaign. It didn’t take long for the very affordable Maverick Hybrid to sell out for the 2022 model year,
At least Ford used the Maverick name on an outstanding vehicle. I'm guessing that many younger customers haven't a clue that Ford manufactured a Maverick car from 1970 - 1977. That's 45 to 52 years ago. but Ford hit a home run with the new Maverick using the correct name and solid marketing
Grandpa gave me his 72 mav sweet car!
Every video i see about this lil truck impresses me more and more.
I need it in my life, especially the hybrid with its great MPG because gas prices are forever screwed now.
So impressed with that climb!
Sarah you are silly, booyah 👊🏽😁. I like the regular talk and the pointing out of the obvious 🤣. The obvious to some of us, still leave us in need of an explanation of what it does. Thanks for the explanations.
Very cool review! A nice affordable pickup with off road capabilities. I like it! Your clothing choice was again on par with the truck color theme. Kudos!
Haven't been in the Ford camp since my 2000 sport 2dr explorer but Ford hit a homerun with the Maverick, I had one all configured and almost ordered it.
Loved this review. I had fun right along with you.
Thanks for doing the Mav. Your Bronco video commenting on your experience with Jim Click prompted me to order my Mav (same specs), so this was timely. Oh, and your Bronco video also enticed me to order one of those, as well. We'll see which one sticks.
We were all rooting for you and the Maverick on that hill climb. I knew you were going to make it, but I was still holding my breath until you got to the top. Nice review.
Seeing all the other reviews where the SUVs and other trucks fail on the big hill, this is impressive.
After that incline I'd say the FX-4 graphics are fitting! 😆
Yeah, it earned them.
Ok… dayum I’m actually very impressed and digging Sarah’s review. Definitely a fan! Subscribed!
Great review! You know your stuff! The Mav is a game changer like the GT350 was that you reviewed 4 years ago. Lucky to own both, with the fx-4 Mav becoming my daily driver.
I want the Hybrid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For some reason I think this truck should call you "Goose".
You say "you go Maverick" and it responds "just watch my 6 Goose. There's still 3 bogies out there"
First review I seen that you actually take the car and put it on a hoist and check the underneath and actually talk about it 👏👏👏
Brilliant reviews and such fun to watch, excellent Sarah 👍🥰
Any day is a great day when Miss Sarah drops another video.
OK, I thought I liked you a whole bunch prior, now you go and review a Maverick!? C'mon! These have become so popular that they've stopped taking orders! It's the only truck I'd trade my 2019 Ranger for. You're the best, thanks so much! The control arm is the elements it's made of, magnesium, copper etc....no sinister wording! 😁😁😁
Your adventure on the second hill climb got me to subscribe. That was INTENSE!
Another great video, You make me smile Sarah
I like that plate placement as well, being a little off center myself.
Not a huge Ford truck fan, but the Maverick looks pretty cool for it's size. Always love your videos Sarah. Keep up the great content. You're very knowledgeable and clever funny quirks. Love you're little 🐧.
You entertain the hell out of me!
Good vid girl.
Great job!! First Maverick review that I’ve found that puts the truck on a lift so we can see what it’s made of. Thanks!!
It will be interesting with a mini rapter kit on it.
Haha, they should call it a Compi instead of a Raptor then!
I like your reviews a lot!! You know why? You do a brake-test without any data; what speed you are driving, how many meters/feet it takes to stop... Same for the acceleration-test; from zero to what speed in how many seconds? Again; no data. I LOVE IT!! Don't change this concept! It tell's us nothing, but it's fun to wach!! (Hi from the Netherlands)
I don’t want people to take them too seriously in that aspect, I feel when all we focus on is spec sheets it makes a review boring. So I put the data in where it counts in the garage.
Your reviews are the best on youtube
I have the non FX4 AWD and it has the sport mode and it makes a big difference. Love the little truck!
Yes Sarah. We’ve needed something like this for some time. Maybe doing that conversion could be your next major project???🤔
These things are very cool and a great value. I went to look at one to trade my ranger in for because I wanted something a little smaller with better gas mileage. Ended up with a Bronco Sport which is another home run for Ford and it is just as cool as the Maverick. I just got a 4x8 harbor freight folding trailer to use when I need to haul stuff.
Great review, that fx4 package will do what most customers want in a 4wd vehicle, also great that you had stone sour though the glass on the stereo, cheers 🍺
Well, being that the Maverick is Gooses wing-man , it looks like it can fly. This is a great little truck. Thanks for the review.
Happy Friday Eve Sarah!!!
Always bringing the laughs, smiles, and car tech info, don't ever change.😁
Stay excellent!!!😎
Cool, I’ve been waiting to get your take on the Maverick. I agree that it would be cool with a mild lift kit.
I'd go the other way; I'd lower it a bit and put some slightly lower profile tires on it and some cool wheels.
I think someone actually did that. I might have to do some research.
Great review Sarah. Well done 👍 on getting up that hill. I was bricking it even watching you….
I love my Maverick XLT Fx4 AWD 2.0 it’s everything I need for a vehicle! Love your vehicle reviews!!!
Al = Aluminum, Si = Silicon, Mg = Magnesium, Cu = Copper, Mn = Manganese? I think it has something to do with the alloy the control arm is made from.
Ordered my Maverick in January before Ford stopped taking orders. Have to wait to May or June for delivery. Too bad Ford can't keep up with demand! Enjoyed watching your review. Nice that you put vehicles on a lift so you can see the hidden mechanics.
I was so nervous while you went of there the big hill. Go Maverick!
I like your all terrain tests for off-roaders. 💪👍
Thank you Sarah. I have one on order (xlt,4k, fx4-no lux). It is replacing a well used focus. Think you hit the reason for this truck right between the eyes.
We ordered a Mav XLT Hybrid in July of last year, and it is finally supposed to be built next week. Hope this post doesn't jinx our order.
