The best thing about e-beans is they don't give you gas.
Nope! They electrocute you!
Yes they do, its the silent but deadly gas that gets you.
Having said that i find electric cars boring.
They actually replace bean gas with that virtual gas which causes that silly grin you get when you get instant-crazy torque all at once, right off the line. For all the haters out there, these things are FUN
😆
@@odinikita4821 in what way are they boring?
Sarah: Bleeps things, but not "fuckin' spaceship". I love this channel
Ditto
HILARIOUS that Dear Sarah left that in there.
I wasn't sure and had to rewind to make sure the thing that I heard was the thing that I heard and it was and it was amazing lmfao
Infrastructure bill includes 50,000 charge stations coming. Many home garages have a 240 V dryer outlet.
Ford really should've named this the Model E. Like the Model T that was the first mass-produced car, this car is the first mass-produced *electric* car. (Ok, its not the *first,* technically, but priced as it is, and as comparatively well-built as it is, it could easily be the one that makes electric cars finally catch on with the masses.)
Further, Ford has owned the Model E name since the early 20th century, so it's been around forever. Tesla wanted to name their Model 3 the Model E, but Ford owned it and wouldn't sell Tesla the right to use the name. Wouldn't it be a wonderful "fuck you" to Tesla from Ford, if Ford were to use the name "Model E" for their first mass-produced electric vehicle! :-)
Yeah, Mustang Mach E is not the name they should've gone with. Had I been on the Ford marketing team, I would've pushed for Model E instead.
Whoever green lit “Mustang” for this SUV should be fired.
Or Ford Galaxy Model E.
Anything but Mustang. If I had buried any of my Mustangs they’d be turning over in their graves.
Welllllll, if Tesla had been allowed their naming convention, their models had been: "S", "E", "X", "Y". No doubt Mr. Musk had this planned, and I love him for it. Will have my MUSTANG in July!!!
@@MikeTheMightyViking nice! Going the traditional route. Screw all those EV toys.
@@razorpit Listen. I currently own a GT500, and have owned Cobras in the past . . . before you spend your hard-earned cash on a dinosaur (don't get me wrong, I still love my supercharged V8), you owe it to yourself to drive a couple of EVs. More fun than you'd expect. It's a real eye opener!
"Its ok to be kinky." -Sarah~n~Tuned(2021)
I'm glad Sarah approves of my choices. 😄
I am glad to hear her say that. I have always been comfortable with who I am. If people want to judge you, it’s on them!
I came here for that exact comment 🥸
As a friend of mine was fond of saying, "It's only kinky the first time...."
@@mikebryant5223 Not if done correctly. :)
You really are one of the very best at doing this these days. Your garage science segment keeps getting better, Id say you are at Goose levels with it now. Your humor was great in this video, really enjoyed this revoew and loved hpw you remained objective and I was surprosed you liked this car and it made me wanna check it out.
I think the "propulsion sounds" thing is a stroke of genius for the marketing team, but imagine if you could customize your own sounds similarly to a smartphone's ringtone (at least for the speakers inside). Also, i agree that they should have given this car it it's own name.
I wanted customizable sounds before this even came out, an aftermarket device exists for Fiat 500e, but it's not reliable.
Tesla does this, you can use custom sounds that can play in and outside of the vehicle, you can even use your phone to project your voice from the Teslas outside speakers.
So many ways to elegently harvest energy like copper inlayed rim and wired magnetic harvester on brake calipers and brake vent turbines from and rear and horizontal turbine that pops outta the rear deck at speed and also one across front clip and in previous radiator spot the same
Reely
I want either Jetsons car sound, or a TIE fighter.
I've heard of Borg Warner, but never Bog Warner 😜. Also, the battery has a cooling system. The active shutters are there for that reason as well.
I heard that as well. Only Sarah can get away with not saying "We are Borg".
BOG Warner. Nope, not a thing.
"And obviously because its a fucking spaceship"
Never change Sarah! lmao
Yup, caught that as well. Sarah keeping it real.
I had to rewind like 3 times 😂 oops forgot a censor
those F Bombs are what keep me coming back LOL
I was working with Ford when the probe came out, woman hated the name as a reference to a gyno check up. I glad they learned
The volume wheel is actually really clever (and cheap)
Its more a stick-on wheel, not a complex integrated piece of the screen, and the UI was just designed with that wheel in mind
Inside, there’s a severed fingertip touching the screen.
NOOOOO just NOOOOO!!!!. My opinion is that, the button is the worst thing about this car. WHY!!! would you mess up a clean and nice screen with a knob from (insert really old dail button reference of your choosing)... Its like having a knod in any other touch screen, think: phone, tablet, TV, just UUURGH!!! that button just makes me angry every single time I see it!!!.... If you want a button fine, put it somewhere not on the bottom 1/3 of your screen.... SIGH!!!!!!
@@buenito35 Unfortunately from an engineering perspective, there is no UX on the known universe that will ever satisfy 100% of customers. So i guess whatever will be liked by mass was the goal here.
The most entertaining/informative review consistently.
Priceless commentary🐎🌵Thank you for your day brightening presence.
Great video. Agree with you regarding the name, kinda crazy they used the iconic Mustang name. Your adorable with the wind turbine idea. I love my Model 3 Performance, the instant torque never gets old.
Thank you for the WOOWOOWOO, it was on repeat full screen for longer than i probably should have
Simply superb review, nearly turned off way the start. I was so wrong, total respect! Sarah tops intelligent review. Great factual detail. I am going to buy one now. Thank you !
Great review. I appreciate that the F-bomb snuck in at the end. :)
The narrow tires are 100% due to improving range. You can get a wider tire, but you'll notice a decrease in range.
Hopefully as battery storage increases it isnt ALL put into mileage. I am happy with 300-400 mile range but I want these cars to start allowing me to have custom wheels, maybe various body kit styles, use HVAC/Stereo at higher levels for longer without the impact on mileage like they have now. Fun seeing the evolution of this tech though.
Yeah, bicycle tires would be most efficient lol
Great review! I had been looking at them but like most I’ll wait and see how they develop. Also, great since of humor by the way.
Very entertaining and informative video; thank you! I love your windmill-on-a-trailer idea for giving extra energy for a BEV in remote areas! 🙂
The Jetsons part was spot on girl!
Absolutely awesome review!
Always love your reviews, Sarah. I like the life-size picture of James May in the background keeping an eye on things.
I was wondering who that was. Thought it might be Steve Bannon which confused me to no end.
THANK YOU for not using the M word! Another outstanding review - and sound effect!
I don't think the graphic for pound feet made the edit. But, yes it's a lot.
Came to mention this but you beat me to it! And it's 3,155 ft-lbs, for the curious.
I always enjoy the unrestrained bolstering test. I slow it down for that part, several times, to get the FULL effects. Thanks.
As usual most knowledgeable car person on internet! Sarah is awesome!
Yay!!!! We asked for an electric ⚡ and we got a great first start 🤩💕 as always Thank You Sarah!
Hearing Sarah make the jetsons car noise made my day. Thank you 😊
At 17: 23 you neglectted "bleeping" out your "fucking spaceship"
That’s a “feature”, not a bug. We pay extra for that!
Love this channel, love her. Awesome personality and sense of humor.
its not a real women
great review - thanks, are definitely considering this in the future and now even more convinced. The company that I work for makes the skate board for this car. We have had a Focus Electric for 4 years now and love it, it has range constraints but we knew that buying it and understood up front that it is a 'local' car but having the simplicity of an electric is great. It is time to get a longer range electric.
Love seeing ev reviews from a car enthusiast!
"Yes rpm", "immediately rpm"... Best bit 👏😂
I've been dying for you to review the mustach-e! Yessss!
Thank you. Love your humor.
Missed opportunity to bring back the Probe brand.
Sarah, please revisit the Mach E in the winter. As the car doesn’t have a heat pump, my biggest concern is usable range in the cold, particularly for highway driving (minimal regen). As always, great video!
That's second stupidest thing to do to an electric car after giving it a Mustang name, you *already* have a heat pump for cooling, just install one additional valve and a tiny bit of piping and that's it, you have yourself a heater in the winter which is FIVE TIMES more energy efficient than a standard coil heater!
Hi, I've never seen your content before but I've just subscribed because you obviously know your shit and you're also fun to watch. Thank you
Great video! We love our Mach E! It has 300 miles total charge (California Route 1) so we are able to really get about and not concern ourselves with having to only go small trips. and we've put 6,000 miles on it.
Another great review. I’d love to see your review of a Tesla Model Y Performance as a comparison!
You know what they should have called it?
. . . The Thunderbird. Great Vid Sarah!
Sleek, elegant, beautiful...and the car is nice, too! Seriously, I've been waiting for the reviews on this car and I think you did a great job.
The Jetson sound was phenomenal. Love your reviews
Somebody borrow Sarah a Plaid!
I have Calif 1 edition. I like it a lot. Had it for 4 months now. In colder Temps realize your range will drop especially if you use high heat setting. I keep mine at 69 degrees. I had installed 240 outlet and switched to time of use with my utility. The reason why tires aren't wider is to get better range. In the summer I was getter arnd 305 plus now arnd 240. Since I travel leas than 75 miles a day no problem. I don't let battery go below 20% or charge higher then 80% unless going on long trip.
If the reason for the narrow tires is more range, why do all Tesla come with wider tires and have more range even though they have smaller batteries?
I could watch your bolster test all day
Sarah, your videos are more informative than a dealer sales person. Thank you. -Neil Tucson, AZ
Picked up ours last week. So far it has exceeded all expectations. Ours is exactly like the car in the review. I drive 165 miles a day and it is always charged up in the morning with the 240 plug I wired in my garage
I agree. They should have called this electric wagon just the Mach-E. I really like the car but really object to calling it a Mustang.
It was great from a marketing standpoint tho.
Last time I checked, Ford owns the name Mustang and they decide what to put it on, not you. Get over it.
@@mauricebarry8858 EXACTLY. Oh, the whining of the punks in the comments here about using the Mustang name! It was GENIUS for Ford to do this, and the waiting list for this Mach-E is getting longer by the day.
It's not a wagon. If anything it is a fast back sedan or a 4 door hatchback but not a wagon.
I object to Porsche using the word "Turbo" on their EVs. But I got over it.
Love your show. Funny but informative.
Great review. Thank you
Just checking, I understood it to be Borg-Warner! Assimilation is happening!
Great review, thanks again Sarah!
You are correct! I made the same comment.
They should have used the name Maverick for this car instead of the new pickups, since those were available in four door sedan models. A Mustang has never had 4 doors.
It does now.
Best review I've EVER heard! Very Entertaining and informative! lol
I just got mine today, WOW super fun to drive.
You do the best car reviews bar none. Eat your heart out, Doug!
Doug does not have penguins, so who cares what his Doug score is.
Doug gives me gas.
I’m in agreement w you! Not really a Moose Tank. It’s a Model “E”!!
I love this channel!!!
I appreciated you making the Jetson's sound effect.
Another great auto review! Absolutely smashed it just like I did the “Like” button as always! I’m with you on the Mustang name... I don’t even like seeing the Mustang emblem on it! It reminds me of the 1976 Mustang II era! That said This Mach E has me intrigued and I loved your review! Excellent work Sarah. Thank you!!
Yup, Probe or Fairlane would have been a better name for it than mocking the Mustang moniker.
Sarah.......Since you have metioned Tucson several times I googled non Tesla chargers
and found one network that claims it has 216 chargers in that area, several that are
free. Have you moved?
first time watching you.....love the humor subscribed
I feel I need to say it: My favourite part is "Garage Science” with Sarah. Thanks.
The included charger can use 120 or 240 volts up to 40 amps. I keep the included charger in the car and installed a Chargepoint Home Flex in my garage for normal charging. Also, the front shutters are for cooling the battery.
32 amps continuous power to the car. 40 amps circuit required if hardwired. 14-50 NEMA connector/plug should be on a 50 amp circuit.
Its actually 110 and 220. Not 120 and 240. Only people that actually know electricity would know this though.
I have had the pleasure of driving one of these. They are awesome!!!
Nice bolster test. Informative.
I get the sense that the yard would be full of removed plastic panels before any metal parts could be accessed and serviced. Great review, Sarah. Love your style!
No. There are only 4 plastic covers underneath. But if any untrained person were to try and work on it. That would property die. Considering there is about 700 volts DC running through that car
I completely agree with you, this is not a Mustang.
I like it, but I hate the name.
Mustang is a brand name, not a technology.
Last time I checked, Ford owns the name Mustang and they decide what to put it on, not you. Get over it.
@@Splits-man
Mustang is a model name of a Pony car, this is NOT a Pony car, they COULD make an electric Mustang with the traditional Pony body style....But they didn't.
@@NovaResource So you would have been ok with their proposed replacement for the Mustang in the 80s? They called it the Probe because people were repulsed by the decision to call it a Mustang.
great review, thank you, thank you, thank you!
wow as you described the wind turbines. my brain was going the same direction with drag and all.
loving the EV reviews
In addition to your brilliant wind turbine idea🤣, it’d be great if all gas stations offered high speed DC chargers as well.
Car structure and build look solid
Thank you for showing us the underside of the car. As allows, great review!
In my mind they should have just called it the Mach-E and then if absolutely needed they could have added: 'Inspired by the Mustang'
@@erorufurakku6378 I'm a fan of clean lines so 'nothing' would work for me. Otherwise maybe a stamped in 'Mach-E'
@@erorufurakku6378 Ford's made other horse logos for other models before, like Pintos and some old Rangers and possibly Rancheros, though I'm not sure on that one. And I agree that the name doesn't fit but I kinda like the Mustangey styling on em.
It’s weird that people care.
@@jaredf6205 They cry at night knowing their ICE Mustang will get beat by the Mach E.
@@jaredf6205 A lot of people don't like all these moves of sticking legacy namesfor well-loved cars on crossovers, as if that makes crossovers somehow more what fans of say a Mustang or Integra or Eclipse or something want. (It also kind of implies that there *won't* be, or that they'll soon get rid of, say, the coupes or sporty hatches they're interested in. )
Sarah, normally, with 1-pedal driving mode, the braking lights are managed by an accelerometer and not just when you release the pedal. Therefore, the flashing would not occur.
If I remember well, the regulation requires the braking lights to turn on with a 0,12G deceleration. Obviously, the lights also turn on if you press the brake pedal.
On electric cars, a very light pressure on the brake pedal often activates the regeneration and thus, some deceleration without having to activate the friction brakes.
Have a nice day.
My 2014 BMW i3 lit the brake lights too because it was hardcoded to do one-petal driving. It probably saved me a few rear-end collisions since the thing slowed so fast.
Your style is awesome love see ya do the GT performance, of course I had to subscribe.
Nice review!
Totally agree with your click bait analogy. Why did they do that?
It seems like to me that young marketers do not care about a brand's heritage anymore (for the most part).
Another example of this is the Acura NSX that was originally a light-weight, low-tech, inexpensive, driver-connected sports car that morphed into a very high-tech, very expensive, disconnected one. Another is the just released Acura Integra which is basically what this generation of Honda Civic should have been but it no Integra.
One new example of honoring a model's heritage done right is the upcoming Nissan Z.
Sadly, I think the marketers what do what they did with the Mach-E and the Acuras do so just because they know people are passionate for brand and think that giving a car that name will instantly earn it fans and sales. It's really sad.
All manufacturers are diverting to those tactics, just like the rest of the world. Attention spans are that of a grape now for most people.
With how much it weighs and its shape, maybe Ford should have named it "Clydesdale"
Or quarter horse? Because apparently the batteries on its gt model only live their lives a quarter mile at a time, for those 10 seconds or less the horse is free. 😂
Love it!
I enjoy your videos!
I love the bolstering test!
Bolster test satisfactory :D
The skinny tires=less rolling resistance. A fairly big area of focus for most of the EVs I've seen.
Cars dont always need wide wheels and tires.
Reducing rolling resistance means a given battery size (weight, cost) provides more range, which is the primary metric most people consider for electric cars.
Too get a smooth ride regardless of the tire width you need an aspect ration of at least 60 or up.
Skinny tires are cool. I love little tires. Will attract the muscle car crowd, for sure. 😂
@@jrparker4804 Bow ties are cool too.
The current models no longer come with frunk dividers; that was in place until Ford worked out some compliance things relating to the frunk. Also, the frunk has a drain plug, so you can fill it with ice for frunkgating, or store wet stuff (after a beach trip, say) and easily hose it out afterwards. Also, the brake lights don't illuminate immediately in one-pedal mode, I believe, but only as the car approaches a full stop.
You are absolutely correct!! Thank you.
I want an engine sound that sounds like the Star Trek TNG Enterprise, kind of that background low roar 😁
And when on full throttle, the sound of the warp drive engaging? I'd like that as well.
So many missed opportunities with the name.
Ford Lightning (already taken)
Ford Coil
Ford Firebolt
Ford Mach E
Ford Colt
Ford Stallion
ANYTHING but the Mustang...
I like the Mach-E since it evokes the old mustang mach cars. Plus, Chevy kind of overdid the whole gotta make the name reference electricity somehow. Chevy marketing team, " A hybrid? Call it Volt. A plug in electric? Call it Bolt. A truck, ummm ... electric silverado!
I wish they could have gone with Thunderbird, but with the last of those being kinda underwhelming I understand why they didn't
Last time I checked, Ford owns the name Mustang and they decide what to put it on, not you. Get over it.
@@NovaResource Seems like someone peed in your cheerios, bud. Settle down.
I loved your visual brake test! Best I've ever watched! Wouldn't have worked with short hair.
Love the windmill water pump.
I had pitched to Ford to name their electric vehicles as the "The Ford Falcon Force" with different variants; for example Ford Falcon Force GT and Ford Falcon Force Mach 1. The pitch was to provide discounts for all current, retired and family members of U.S. AirForce Personnel. Something similar to what USAA offers. Unfortunately it fell on deaf ears.
Since they getting rid of the sedans. Should of called it Fusion Mach E. Problem is the name is too bland not ClickB8 enough.
I dont blame them. This was a cringey comment to read. Cant imagine how the room felt that heard it. 🤣
But in seriousness you didnt pitch anything to Ford. You are just another youtube peasant trying to ruffle your feathers like a male bird does in heat to garner attention. You've been had and found out. Now go get woke before you get clowned more.
If there was ever an opening for a Jetson's sound effect person you would be the person for the job. That was awesome lol.
$200 phone and you have endless ringtones to choose from, $50,000 care and you get 3 “engine” sounds :O
@@kevinpunter7960 Maybe you will be able to download them in the future.
@@lobster1002000 possibly .. I'm curious whether there's any regulatory issues relating to safety. Imagine switching to the loud farting noise when driving your mother-in-law ;)
Great video! You really know your stuff.
That sound is pretty neat
Digging the electric vehicle reviews. Great content
Very interesting EV. It looks okay, I guess. BUT, a total deal breaker for me is that fugly giant pad-like screen in the middle of the dash. Why not incorporate it more pleasantly into the dash? It just looks like a complete afterthought stuck on with velcro or tape. Also, all that extra mass of the giant brakes and wheels from a real Mustang is totally counterintuitive to the whole EV concept (light, efficient, etc.). This vehicle is trying to portray too many identities and that's a recipe for failing at each of them rather than being superior at one focused design effort. And don't even get me started on the naming of this thing. I own a Mustang GT and that car is and always was about the whole experience (the sound, the looks, the driving experience). Ford, lose the horse emblems and call it the Mach-E. Great review! Thanks.
Agree. It looks like a prototype with a Kindle tablet Gorilla Glued to the dash and they never got around to finishing it.
Sarah Ford should give you this car, you're their best advertising. 😍
I love the dork humor, keep up the fantastic work Sarah!
Damn brown leather mini, cutie little heals, lord help us. Oh the Mach E was nice too. Love you Sarah! Keep up the great work.
