Hey Scotty i have a 06 Dodge Dakota I have a burning smell when I hit the gas any ideas?
Loving the little Mexican Maverick that could 🤣😅😅

Shouldn’t this be badged a Ranger and the new Ranger be badged and F100 or something?? 😆
Scotty usually rags on anything built in Mexico. Scotty must be in a good mood today. This pickup looks very good. Time will tell.😇
we'll see how these trucks hold up after a few years. im guessing the tiny engine will wear out faster
It's the rose-colored glasses...
Tacoma’s are made in Mexico and they are on top of the midsize pickup food chain.
@@joeshmoe8952 Or all the crap made in Detroit.
Here In Germany for us made in USA or Mexico is the same crap.
I'm definitely on board with this. It's about damn time a smaller and affordable truck was sold again.
It’s also the first time someone made a good looking, affordable hybrid.
Calm down Bill...
Not sure how affordable they are. I just saw one at a dealership for 40k. To me that isn't affordable for the size vehicle it is.
What's "affordable" under Mussolini with Alzheimer's Jo?
This is what the Ranger should have been.
Honestly, I can't wait to get this truck in a few years on the used market. A fuel efficient small truck would be much more practical for me than any other. I hope it does well and opens up a market for trucks this size. A tiny Toyota Tacoma hybrid would be perfect
This is the type of car nobody is gonna want to sell, unless it has some kind of weird undiagnosed defect, is completely beaten, or wrecked.

@Jebus Hypocristos maybe the workers like the OT pay? I used to love working OT when I was in an hourly position due to the extra pay.

I’ve had my Maverick for a little over 3 months. It’s a AWD XLT ecobeast. I’m about to roll over 10k miles. I live in Midwest and it’s done everything I bought it for. It handles pretty decent in inclement weather. The continental tires are good highway tires but are subpar in snow etc. I work for the railroad and I travel a 100 miles a day and use it to haul odds and ends stuff. I have a family of 4 that easily fits in it if needed. No you’re not gonna haul 10k lbs or tow a house with it but just for running around and hauling smaller stuff it’s perfect and with today’s fuel prices it was a win. In my opinion, these are more like the old Rangers. So if you liked the older rangers, you’d probably like these.
They should've called this the ranger. I wasn't impressed with the newest ranger. I thought it was too big.
I've ordered this maverick in November and im just excited to get this truck! I'm barely getting around in my 2000 ranger. Haha
The ranger was an actual truck. Leaf spring suspension true 4x4 body on frame. The ranger and maverick are completely different vehicles
@@seanbutler2291 duh
I work for the railroad too and was thinking about getting this for my work vehicle. I’ve had bad luck with new cords though so I’m not sure. I miss my old ranger
@@seanbutler2291 sure, but doesn’t mean that the ranger in its current form is what Ranger buyers actually want… also this is a cheap truck.
I work with the Park Rangers in California and this truck can HANDLE. We just got three of these and I thought it wouldn’t be able to climb trails and drive down rocky paths as well as the bigger pickups, but it’s proven me wrong. Great power delivery and MPG.

If we weren’t in a supply chain crunch I could see this truck very quickly becoming one of the most popular models.
I read a few months ago that Ford had to stop taking orders for this truck because they couldn't get the parts to build it. The demand was already off the hook for these vehicles!

I've owned a 2022 Maverick, with the eco boost engine, for three months and I'm very happy with the truck so far.
The bed is only four and a half feet long, but the tailgate is designed to lock in place at the same level as the wheel well, which allowed me to easily carry three sheet of plywood home from Home Depot.
Did you get the 4K tow package ?
How much was it?
How did you feel going 2 x over its maximum capacity? I kid...i kid....:-)
That’s a car disguised as a truck.
I think I just found my new truck
For my light use and maintaining my homes
The Hermosillo plant is one of Ford's best production facilities. According to Ford Authority they are the top North American Ford plant. So far the quality of the new mavericks and baby bronco has been excellent.
Agree totally with Scotty the knob transmission selector and electronic parking brake not my favorite. But finally a decent price on a cute truck. Car makers need to realize that and start building affordable, reliable, economical safe vehicles.
I have a Dodge Ram with the same knob for the transmisión but it’s located next to the volume and air knob 😅 , my brother mistakenly try to lower the volume and put the car in Neutral in a stop lol I like that this little maverick isn’t next to each other 😅
What happens when a beverage is spilled on the rotary transmission switch ?
I've had my XLT AWD FX4 with 4k tow for a week now. Really love it! Quick, light handling and handles like my Mustang did. Very sure footed in the wet or dry. GREAT AWD system. First tank got almost 29 mpg in mixed driving. And up to 34 mph hiway on back roads. I will admit I'm the old guy in the right lane doing the speed limit. Drive like a angry youngster and YMMWV! ;-) But its an awesome vehicle for a grandpa with errands to run.
Good fortune partner !
How is it in the snow?
Maverick?
Handle like a mustang ... hahaha like hos much more bias can you be ...
Was really looking hard at getting an xlt with awd and the 4k package. Love the idea of the maverick. Decided I didn't want a car payment and bought an old 96 ranger and now I'm in love with it. I'm going to keep my eyes on these mavericks though, hopefully they make an awd version with the hybrid engine in the near future, I might be sold then.
I like my Maverick, upgraded from a 2012 Kia rio. Nearly 3000 miles on it already going from RI to NH and just driving all the time. The truck drives nice and I hope it last some good years.
I love Mr Kilmers reviews! Always entertaining and even though he bashes on some brands that I have had exceptional experience with, it’s his personality that makes him the kind of guy I would love to hang out with and just talk cars with.. he’s honest, probably the most honest of any mechanic I have ever met.. thank you scotty for all the content, I truly appreciate your perspective, opinion and experience!
My 2006 Lincoln Zephyr was built in Mexico. Bought it new. Approaching 300K miles. Best car I ever had. I don't usually keep a car over 5 years but this17 year car is still going strong.
That is a miracle for a ford
I have a 2015 VW Golf I purchased new and was dismayed to find out it was made in Mexico as I thought I was purchasing a German car. 110,000 miles later it’s needed no repairs, runs like a dream, and doesn’t even rattle over bumps. I think the Mexican autoworkers know what they’re doing and I’d trust them wholeheartedly. My “Deutschland” built BMW gave me more problems in 20,000 miles than this car ever has!
Mexico has been buildings VW since the original Beatle
110k miles is nothing for a Toyota. That’s just getting broken in if that.
Parts and assemble are in México, design is German. There is nothing wrong with that... I love it
Got a 2020 tacoma. 27k miles on it 👍🏻
Good so far as long as you don’t bump into anything. Some of the plastic pops back some crunches 😂😬
BMW and Audi electronics sucks
I do hope this inspires other manufacturers to start making affordable small trucks like back in the day. As it stands this would be a nice small modern truck I’m honestly more of a small truck guy lol
Toyota recently made the Corolla into an suv, imagine if them making it into a truck next? Mini taco!! 😱 ❤️

@BL Dontmatter hahaha. Enjoy your truck man, no need to insult this one haha
@BL Dontmatter
You’re right NO ONES gonna buy this thing
Hahahahahaha 🤡
@BL Dontmatter heard ya loud n clear bud. The world did. Your opinion is very important. No one wants a tiny 4footer that’s literally 3 times less the cubic feet of your truck from 20 years ago. It’s embarrassing.
I test drove one of these Maverick XLT, just yesterday morning. I must say that I was impressed with the look, interior layout, dash, materials, bed accessories. Very little leg room, while sitting in the back seat, would be my biggest complaint. The one I drove was a FWD, 4 cylinder only vehicle. It was not the hybrid model. I did put name on the dealer's to-call list, once a person can order their own vehicle again.
I just got my 2024 yesterday. You don’t have to use the start stop feature. Turns off with a push of a button on the arm console. All its features are very customizable. Very nice ride and very quiet. When I turned the key I didn’t think it started. Very impressed on my first ride.
Thanks for the heads up on start stop option. I may downsize from my F250.
Thanks for mentioning this. The start stop feature is annoying
The “Start/Stop” can be disabled by a dedicated button on the center console. The feature is also disabled if you drive in “Sport Mode”. I have a XL with AWD. My 1st Ford. My 1st truck.
My 2021 Chevy Blazer also has the stop-start feature.
1st thing I do after starting it up is disable that annoying stop-start.
Good. I'll disable mine. When I get it.
Start stop seems pretty useless unless you’re trapped in a highway closed lane.
My company just bought three Ford Escapes with stop/start. I found that you can also disable it by getting in the habit of shifting into neutral at stop lights. Maybe it'll work here too.
But it resets itself next time you turn on the car. In BMWs you can do a software alter that’ll put a memory on the start-stop system. Next time you turn on the car it puts it to the setting you last left it to.
I'm an F 150 owner my last one I kept for 10 yrs 280 k miles all original no issues. I have 2017 F 150 with 120 K miles no problems. Hopefully the Maverick will do well over time. I may buy a used one couple yrs down the road. Would love to see this guy bring it back to you 5-6 yrs from now see how it's doing.
With the way inflation is going, you'll probably pay more for one if five years with 100,000 miles than it costs new today.
That mileage would be just broken in...... for a Toyota truck.
I have essentially this same truck, except I got mine with the tow package. Comes with the hitch, and a built in brake controller. The primary reason to opt for the AWD , in my opinion, is if you are going to want to be able to tow 4,000 lbs. Or take it off road at all. The bed is short, but the tailgate has a second set of pins you can latch it to that enables it to carry 4 x 8 sheet goods like plywood or drywall. The XLT version also has a 110 power outlet inside the cab and another in the bed. I hate the fact that it does the shut off thing at a light- but there is a button near the shift knob that you press when you start up and it turns that annoying feature off. And if you set the drive program to Speed, it delays shifting in the 8 speed gearbox in a way that really makes the truck quite quick ( closer to 280 hp btw) If you set it to ECO mode, then the truck is really pretty slow in acceleration, but that’s how you get the 24 mpg its capable of. The Interior appointments are really quite nice on the XLT, two kinds of charge ports, hand free cell phone service and streaming music, and I got a rear sliding window as an option when I ordered the truck. Another great feature is interior storage. The entire rear seat lifts up and has ample storage underneath for tie down straps, road flares, first aid kit, bungies , jumper cables and more. And I can attest that 5 full grown adults can sit comfortably in the truck. All in all, I am very happy with the Maverick. The only things I would change is the ability to set the auto shutoff system to be OFF as a default, and the Shift knob to have full stops at drive and park so you don’t always have to LOOK to see you are in the right spot. Even with the AWD, tow package and XLT trim package, my truck still came in under 32K.
Good review! I've had my Maverick XLT for about 6 months now. At ~8K miles, I've been thoroughly impressed! It's smooth to ride, has plenty of giddy-up, particularly if you're rolling along and punch it.
Gas mileage hovers at 30. When I do a full run at the 55-65 MPH steady state drive, I'll get as high as 34 with the 2 liter turbo engine.
My only complaint is that it should sit higher. Not much, but another two inches and remove the skirting on the nose and it would be much more ranch road friendly.
Nice Mark, do some videos I will sub! I have over 80 Mav vids on my channel you might like. I have a hybrid for mpg and a turbo AWD for fun.
Ive been saying for years that domestic car makers like ford should build a simple basic truck sub 20k for regular working folks. Prices for new vehicles are ridiculous right now atleast for a domestic even though they are not assemble here
Hear..Hear..Blessings.
I have been saying something similar for quite a while as well.
Never heard of this pickup before this vid tho!
@@kong4679 it is a fairly new vehicle, so that is understandable.
Love the mpg these get but a lot of DYI and handyman purchasing these for the fuel mileage are starting to show signs of regret, the box is just so small most have to make the compromise of tools or hardware.. guess you can’t have it all.
When the Hybrid Maverick AWD comes out, Ford will own the market even more than now.
Until Toyota enters the small hybrid truck market
I love this little truck! It's just the kind of truck that I'd need, using it for Kayak trailers, single axle utility trailers, etc. most of them are rated around 3,000-3,500 lbs anyways that's all I would need to haul realistically. It's a great truck around town being small & nimble enough to maneuver easily, along for the price point it's being offered at there's nothing else that can beat it imo. Especially for when 90%-95% of the time you're really using it as a daily driver hauling & towing stuff occasionally, you don't need a giant truck to do all of that with either.
I've got this truck. It's a tiny truck and shockingly narrow. Like KIA Forte narrow but about 2 feet longer. It's not a tall vehicle either; you sit higher than a car, yes, but not by much. Yet it has a 6 foot bed, tows at least 4000 pounds, is shockingly quick, parks easily, great airconditioning and just an all-around comfortable and useful vehicle.
It's almost a truck for people who intensely dislike trucks. If you made a truck that was furthest from a truck that could still do truck things, then this 32 to 38 mpg truck is it.
Hybrid or regular?
Going to a ford dealership now Scotty. You are my go to man for common sense approach for vehicles our family has owned. Thank you!
I can imagine these will be everywhere as fleet vehicles in a couple years. Looks like a nice vehicle for the money
Yep expect every AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts to have these.
It’s selling in San Antonio Tx for $35 - $40,000.
@@dschoenfeld9277 lol what a joke
Yeah, dealers are marking up models with options. Eventually, base hybrid XLs should be more economical than many supposed econocars, but they still tow 2000lb and have 1500lb payload capacity.
My Crosstrek tows 1500lb, but I need a trailer to haul a motorcycle or 2 with it. A base Maverick could handle 2 in the bed and more on a trailer.
This is no different than their SUV's.. Just look at the history on those and you'll see how these will fair.. It has the same uni-body, same suspension, and same engine, ect.. It's just their SUV with a bed instead of cargo area. Not much of a truck really. Similar to a Honda Ridgeline. More of an SUV than a truck. They're pretty sweet if you don't ever tow things.
Finally, the most advertised new pickup vs. a guy who has the knowledge and isn't afraid to express himself.

Winter tires will transform your vehicle into a beast in the snow. Nice looking truck. Thanks for the review, Scotty.
Nobody recommends just two snow tires any more...... except Scotty! From experience up here in Canada, I'm sticking with four snows.
Bah, it is required now, so...😉
@@monsieurdubitatif8567 that depends where you live. Québec makes snow tires mandatory, Ontario (where I live) does not. But having experienced the difference they make, I gladly put four snow tires on every car in my family.
And even if you do get just two, literally every tire manufacturer and large scale tire dealer is gonna say the ones with the most tread go on the rear, regardless of fwd or rwd. You can go to their sites and read why, or search youtube for winter car accidents and you'll see. Every single one ( that's not just regular poor driving anyway) starts with fish tailing out of control. I have a 2015 Ford Fusion that was made in Ford's Hermosillo plant in Mexico. It's been a great car from a build quality standpoint. Actually, much better that the other Fords that we've owned that were built in the US. The 2.0 turbo has shown to be a pretty solid engine as well; I've had two of them go over 150k miles without any issues other than they both needed a purge valve to be replaced at around 80k miles. Kind of a pain to replace because of the location, but it was only swapping out a $90 part, so no real hardship there.

Thanks Scotty. I went to Ford last week and ordered an XLT. AWD. One option was a safe for the console. You can legally transport a handgun. Plus the foldable tonneau hard cover which also works as a crash guard..Thanks

Mine has 5,300 miles on it now, no complaints or issues, going to get it's first oil change. I have the Ecoboost AWD averaging 31.4 miles per gallon. I live in northern Idaho and just put Bridgestone Blizzaks on it. Ready for winter...
I have 98,000 miles on my Ford C-Max Hybrid, with the same engine that the Maverick has. Still does not use any oil on a 5000 mile oil change, averaged 41.7 mpg over 98,000 miles. Transmission is much smoother than that in my 6 speed Ford Transit with the 2.5 engine.
I have the 2.0 liter ecoboost in my 17 Focus ST. 47k miles still a baby and is such a beast. Hits 150 mph faster than you'd think in this little car. It just feels like it will last a long time. The handling is incredible. Everything on this vehicle is just done right. Sound system is great. Bluetooth works excellent, great cargo space. Just a perfect hatchback with excellent gas mileage when not beating on it. Ford has been doing great things since they started out and I've always loved their products.
The C-Max doesn't have the same engine as the Maverick Hybrid which is a 2.5 litre engine. The 2 litre is used in the turbo Maverick.
@Bill h ah. Both engines are strong running though.
@@billh4301 he's talking about the hybrid that most want on the Maverick.
@@ADDwithJTC where can you hit 150 mph? Thats fast
Strangely enough, I would get the hybrid. The engine is port injected, has no turbo, and the electric part has two motors and acts like a CVT, essentially making it a giant prius. Good to know electric powertrains are becoming cheaper...
When Ford first started selling Hybrid Escapes, years ago, they paid patent licensing fees to Toyota. They didn't try to hide this. Toyota either griped enough or outright sued them to make them stop telling people this. It contained no actual Toyota parts, even though they were sort of implying that. It was just that something (transmission and electric motors?) were a "licensed knock-off". So, yeah, it kind of *is* a giant Prius. :-)
Oh and don't worry, folks. Atkinson cycle is nothing special. It's just variable valve timing with a very late intake valve opening. The 02-09 Priuses used that, as did the Mazda Millenia, and it didn't do anything you wouldn't already know how to fix.
Exactly. In fact the hybrid has no transmission. Just a fixed set of planetary gears. Impossible to wear out.
Sorry for being too lazy to do my own research, but can someone tell me what makes the cvt trans a plus? My father's jeep patriot had a cvt transmission and it was absolutely horrible. I'm not saying the mavericks is, just was hoping someone could explain why it wasn't?
@@RyanNash20 The idea with a CVT is to have the computer run the engine at the "optimum" rpm for whatever load is presented to it. Steady cruising at 35? 1400 rpm. 45? 1400 rpm. 90? 1400 rpm. Stomp it to merge onto the interstate? 5500 rpm all the way from 5 to 90 mph.
@@erikscott5709 Makes sense, I just see cvt transmissions being talked down on very often, and my own personal experience from my father's patriot was that they give out really easily. I was wondering what makes this one different I guess, not so much how a cvt is supposed to work.
Hey Mr Scott. Just got mine. Tow package as well. Alto. blue. Your Grey is understated.
Scotty what matters more than where the vehicle is built is the kind of Management System is run in the plant. In Mexico, Ford plants are usually run under a Mazda Management System (eg> Hermasillo), which is a pretty high " Build Quality" plant in the Ford system...FYI...
I hope you eventually review the Maverick hybrid as well.
I’ve had my Lariat AWD with tow package for about 3 months now and I’m very impressed. I live in the city for work but camp every weekend I get. This was PERFECT for me! I can park even in tight spots while also hauling my kayak in the back. Plus there’s lots of hidden little features I love and lots of storage space. It’s perfect and affordable to go all out and customize.
I'd go with a Maverick for its affordability. But once you spec it out to the top, might as well go for a mid sized truck at that price point.
@@steve8803 that’s what I’ve been arguing with myself about the last couple of days. Fully loaded Lariat AWD will run run you upwards of $40k… That’s basically an XLT RANGER and getting pretty close to a base model F150

My 22 XLT with trailer tow pack is well over two years old now. LOVE it! Getting 32 mpg in mixed driving. (Granted, I am the old guy in the right lane doing the speed limit) Great combo of utility, power and economy. Handles everything I do very competently. I'm retired and do old man projects. This is the perfect fit for that!
Driving my 2014 RAM Longhorn with the 5.7-liter HEMI from Washington D. C. to Las Vegas I averaged 25 MPG at 75 MPH using the cruise control. I was impressed considering the size of the engine and the nearly 5800-pound weight of the truck with me in it.
Have the Ford Maverick Hybrid XL very impressed with it, doesn’t go through oil like the ecoboost, just like 2.5 liter 4cylinder Atkinson, a simple engine with a electric motor combination. Let’s go Ford
I was on those same roads a few weeks back! Maverick is high on my potential list for the reasons you mentioned. I'm approaching empty-nester status. I like trucks but like smaller vehicles and I have a job where fuel efficiency is a major plus. The Maverick may just check off all those boxes when I get ready to buy again. Really the truck 70% of truck buyers need.
If fuel efficiency is what you are looking at then this truck is awesome. Mine has been getting 43 mpg in town. I havent taken it highway yet.
Consider a Ridgeline, no turbo, 3.5V6 with much better MPG.

It’s about time that somebody gave us a small truck that looks like a truck and not like a station wagon with the rear half removed. Saw a Maverick just the other day. It is a good looking little truck.
Loved your review. As an owner of a FWD Hybrid I agree with the quality of the ride and the mileage has consistently been above 38 mpg. It’s not our F-350 diesel, but we have no intention of pulling a horse trailer with the new Ford. Every vehicle has its sweet spot and this one wins on the everyday usability. Like you, we shall see how it holds up. Thank-you.
I still have my 97 Ford Explorer Sport. 4.0 SOHC. Now, she is at almost 280,000 miles. Still sticking with it. Take care of them and they take care of you.

Great review Scotty.
Drove our new four-cylinder all-wheel drive Maverick from Albuquerque New Mexico to Portland Oregon. Went down Highway 1 from Seaside Oregon to San Francisco. Then to Vegas Nevada and back home to Albuquerque. We were traveling for approximately 3 weeks , average gas MPG was 26.8 over 3800 miles. Love the truck, smooth with plenty of power. You nailed the review.
Dude. With mostly Highway miles, that’s not great mpg.
@@tomdavis3038 How do you know that is not great mpg??? Know how much weight he was hauling??? How fast he was going??? How many people were in it ??? It is still a truck, remember??? :)
Mileage depends on weather, elevation, other factors lol. It is not across the board apply all number. 26 average driving that kind of mileage in different elements is impressive.
Just got mine yesterday I am thoroughly impressed with the maverick
I really like how even though they used cheap materials on the interior they stylized it and made it look interesting
I bought a 2016 Fusion Hybrid, made in Mexico, I bought it new, and not a single problem. Still driving it today. And it's very easy to beat the mpg rating on the sticker. When I take it on the highway, if I keep it just under 70, (the speed limit is 65 where I am) I get over 50 mpg.
Had a 2009 pt cruiser that was built in Mexico. 10 years and 90000 miles. Had near zero problems. Exceptionally well built solid vehicle in every way. Was rear ended twice. Second time insurance totaled it so I bought it back, rehung the rear bumper, lived with the dents in the lift gate and drove it another 2 years and 20k and sold it.
I have the 2.0 ecobeast AWD FX4 4K tow package and I love it I’m getting 35-36 mpg hwy on premium fuel. I net about 27-29 mpg on regular fuel so the cost is worth it. Went to visit family by Erie PA and it snowed 30 inches overnight and I was pushing snow with the front bumper on the stock Pirelli Scorpion tires, turn off traction control, put AWD in sand mode “most aggressive AWD mode” and let it eat lol. I’m really impressed with everything so far…does 95% of everything I need, and gets great mpg along the way. Best mpg so far was 38 mpg on 500 mile hwy run to PA cruise set to 67 and let it eat. I average 500-525 mile fuel range per tank
I have the 2024 XLT front wheel drive version. On the center console there's a 5 button cluster and the bottom left pad, if depressed, will disable the auto stop/start crap feature. You do have to press it after each startup to disengage as it defaults back to the auto stop/start.
Had a white mav with the ford blue racing stripes down the center of the car. First car I owned in high school and LOVED it. Even though it was an automatic.
My 1989 Mercury Tracer Wagon was built in the same factory in Mexico. It now has over 200,000 miles--cruise control, air conditioning, and everything else still work and it drives great. I also now own a 2022 Maverick XLT AWD with the 4k towing package. I'm sure it will last just as well.
I never meet anyone with a tracer. I had a 1993 mercury tracer (sedan) as my first car ever!
I also had a Mercury Tracer wagon. Great little car and good mileage. My daughter took it to college for four years, then I gave it to her as a wedding gift.
I never thought I would buy a Ford but seeing them make something practical with OK gas mileage I might consider it.
Thank you for the review i am looking at buying this truck and enjoyed your honest opinion.
I have a 2019 Ford SUV, the sales rep was so proud of that auto stop/start, it was going to save me $6.00 in gas per year. Then I looked into the cost of a new starter plus labor,,checked the box to kill that thing. About 4 months ago the BMS disabled it anyway and it still hasn't made a reappearance after installing a new battery. Ford wants to do all kinds of scans at about a hundred bucks a pop.
Welcome to the world of rolling computers.
The Town and Country used to be a station wagon. I like the original Maverick with the 4.0 straight 6. Low end power.
I had a Ford Maverick too. A 1971, red one. Loved that car.
Ive been looking at a '23 new maverick xl, slighty used silverado, and slightly used titan for the past week and this guy has me sold on the maverick
Ford was brilliant to make a small truck that can handle the utility needs of the average person and at a low price. Compared to all my friends who spent $50k+ on decked out F150s so they could drive it to work and haul something twice a year this seems much smarter.
I'm considering one myself, but I'll patiently wait a couple years and see if any bugs come out of the framework.
plus if you ordered one now, you still have to wait a year. crazy times.
A decked out f150 is way more than 50k

I’d love to have one of these as my daily, especially during winter. I’d get it just like this. Eco boost with all wheel drive
I've owned my Maverick for a little over a month. I have the basic FWD version with a tow package. I've taken it on a couple of longer trips and have gotten 35mpg each time using the eco setting. I'm surprised by how quick it is when passing, and it is a very simplistic yet versatile vehicle. Most of my complaints about it are just nitpicky things. It drives/handles very well and I give it an overall thumbs up so far. Get a bed extension bar for the receiver and you'll be set for just about anything.
Very useful information let us know how reliability is down the road bud
For people who tow, the fwd w/ tow package is 4k capacity and 1500lb payload. No offense but "just about anything" is very specific to you.
@@dcgregorya5434 You are right. You are not going to haul cattle. I have a small boat, kayaks, and a small trailer. It does just fine for those things. I would hope that anyone buying this truck would know the basic package isn't going to haul huge loads.
@@lonewolffisherman7092 it can haul the same types of stuff you can haul behind a minivan. Not kidding btw, it has the same stats. Thats my issue with this truck...its the truck that just isn't. @@dcgregorya5434 I've never hauled 4x8 sheets of drywall in a minivan, but I have with the maverick. The base trims still have a 2.5 4 cylinder + Hybrid.
Classic Scotty! "It's got a back-up camera that's going to keep me from running into the neighbor's mailbox again." 😆
I have experience with a Mexican made vehicle and it's not all bad - 2009 Chevy HHR SS with the 2.0L Ecotec turbo engine and automatic trans. It's still alive and driving quite strong at almost 150k miles but the auto trans gave it up at 110k miles (made in Canada I think, eh?). The worse wear has been mostly cosmetic (paint and glass) but incredibly the interior has held up nicely. Scotty is right about turbo fours - CHANGE THAT OIL OFTEN WITH FULL SYNTHETIC without fail.
I put on my Ford Windstar made in Mexico 250K miles. Changed the alternator, oil, brake and tires. Gave it to my brother still driving it with the original engine and transmission.
Front wheel drive still needs 4 snow tires. I discovered this driving a FWD VW with snow tires only on the front. The rear end let go on a curve while the front still had traction, an interesting 180. Braking is also a problem with snows on the front only as the rear/front braking is unbalanced.
Agreed suprised Scotty doesn't realize this.
Totally agree
@Bugs Bunny living in Maine, I’ve owned RWD, FWD, AWD, 4X4. FWD is no way better than AWD, and if the snow is deep 4x4 is best.
Surprised by Scotty saying this as well. If you only have 2 snow tires they should actually go on the back of the fwd car as per example of what happened to OP here when you put them in the front
@@gs98999A few things about the many people not liking the two snow tire idea. First many people don't do any snow tires especially in the milder winter climates. It's an expensive thing to have a full set of extra rims and tires and have someone swap them out twice a year for you. And people don't know just how much more useful those tires are. All season tires are trash in the winter in my opinion. But I didn't have any experience with snow tires until I went to the used tire dealer and they had nothing else available. I was amazed how impossible it was to get stuck in my front wheel drive vehicle with snow tires. Even if I knew my budget really didn't allow for them before. After that, and since I mostly drive in town delivering stuff, I opted to buy snow tires just for the drive wheels on future vehicles. Yes the rear end can slide, but that can be controlled by driving technique. Also I value being able to actually move forward and being able to control where I go rather than the occasional sliding of a foot by my rear tires. I really don't understand the idea of putting a pair of snow tires in the back if you only have two for a front wheel vehicle. Now I've lost all of my ability to control my steering and forward motion so that my rear tires don't skid sideways once in a while?
Scotty, please try the "new" Frontier - No start stop, no funny cylinder deactivation, no hybrid, no turbos. Just a 3.8L and a 9 speed transmission. Pretty decent MPG with the amount of HP they're producing with and no funny business under the hood.
Bro I test drove one and ended up just getting a used 2019 with the 4.0 for like 10k less than a base 2022. It feels about the same to drive as the old version. There is also direct injection on the new engine with no port injection to clean the valves.
I second the motion.

Scotty your wisdom is un deniable! But for the first time I can rember I take exception with with when you said "You can put winter tires on just the front wheels for front wheel drive" having grown up in Canada my dad taught me to never ever do that. If you only have 2 winter tires they always must go on the back. The rational is the winter tires will grip much better when stopping the winter tires on the front will grab but your less grippy rear end will start to go sideways. When it comes to winter driving proper traction while braking trumps all.
Agree with you about stop/start technology!
