The "thank you" hand-wave in #2 is the Canadian universal "I'm sorry, I f'd up, glad you're ok, I'm just stupid" handwave, actually. :P
100%. I have been guilty of one or two of those "sorry - my bad" moments. 1/2 of them received with a "all good" nod in return.
You guys made my day. I’m from midland area. Hilarious comments guys. Cheers
I came here to say the same thing, haha.
Just started driving this n began to do it subconsciously 😂
LOL yeahh thats a thing for sure! :P
I can relate to being blinded by those overly bright headlights. Those things need to be outlawed. I know that the drivers who have them can see better, but that does you no good if an oncoming driver runs into you because they can't see.
Yup. Was an absolute nightmare the other day when it rained and the light was scattering all over the wet road, now throw in some high beams and you’ve got e x t r a f u n
Excessively bright headlight and even LED bar are illegal but it's not often enforced because police aren't going around inspecting for headlight problem (out of adjustment or illegal replacement bulb) and for LED bar.
Canada needs a high beam law like Asia does.
In BC we're in the process of making blues illegal.
I am sorry to say that the lights are so bright from opposite cars made me spent $120 to buy bright LED to cope with these stupid opposite lights.
"I guess it's a Jeep thing."
No, it's a Brampton thing.
😂
Digdeep thing
Notice that the driver was dumb enough to speed up though. Trying to scare the jeep probably?
Jeet Wrangler things
@@aalampara7853Rammindeep. Lol worst insurance rates in all of Canada. Wonder why?
Its SO sad that I know literally ALL of these location. Ontario really does have terribad drivers. It's getting worse too.
I fucking live there 😂
@@Makeouthill111. If you live there, it wolud be "live here" for you. Logic?
literally. I was almost involved in a head on collision while going up a hill at night. I got to the top of the hill and saw headlights coming straight at me. I slammed on the breaks and swerved and this idiot came within a foot of my car. scariest moment of my life, I would’ve died with how fast we were both going.

It's all those ex-Winnipeggers
#17…. whenever I’m in this situation I always wait until I’m 100% sure everyone is slowing down to a stop, and this is why!
I could tell from the moment the light turned yellow that car wasn’t going to stop!
Came here looking for this comment, I fully agree
ya its the benz fault, by law u have to yield for them till they pass, not sure how the other driver was found at fault.
yep, the benz was at fault, cant believe whambam insinuated it was the other guys fault.@@haithemanton4213
4:48 to be fair the guy could have easily avoided it if he was paying attention.
yup, 0 awarness especially with snow, you don't drive assuming people will stop in those conidtions.
Thanks tips if everyone was aware and knew how to drive, there wouldn't be any accidents.
Ya, rule #1 clearing the intersection is make sure the oncoming traffic is stopping/stopped. Obviously the other driver eats the fault, but the whole accident could have been avoided if left-turner was more attentive.
@@Matt-sl1wgexactly, so many people think you have to clear the intersection before the light is red, but it’s actually completely legal to clear it after it’s already red for this exact reason! That’s why there is a few seconds delay until the cross traffic gets a green light.
@@Pete0126 when you come from a country that never experiences snow, you don't know how to drive in it. It's time the province started to protect the rest of us and make driver ed mandatory and have a separate course for winter driving - again mandatory but retroactive for every driver from countries and states that don't have regular snowfalls.
Rule #1 with driving in snow- don't hit the brakes unless you're pointed in a direction you want to go- never forget you have momentum guiding your movements
True, but when in that situation, you must release the brake to allow the front wheels to turn again and likely steer out of the situation. Been there fine that and lived a hundred times. Panic braking is horrible in this situation.
There should be a Wham Baam for Brampton Ontario content. Lots of amazing driving talent coming out of there in the last few years
Browntown! 😅😂😅😂
Digmeets 🤣🤣
Let me Patel you all about it. 😅
The Sherman Cut is one of a number of roads that connect the two parts of Hamilton. It was built long before thete was anything close to modern traffic volumes. Because of the geology and topography of the Escarpment it is just not practical to widen the road. People get used to it. Thete is a main arterial road in downtown Toronto that is also a contraflow road. It is not as difficult as it sounds or seems.
The one-way feature of that section was designed to work efficiently around the resulting traffic from the different shifts that flow into & out of Stelco Steel & Dofasco. No joke, it works. The locals are used to it. There are several confusing intersections along the escarpment, especially along the eastern entrance at the top of the escarpment to the Kenilworth Access.
@@BernieBeetovworks very well if your a local you know
Jarvis St! Still so weird to drive un the middle lane....hahaha
the one in toronto is a straight line, not a weird intersection like this
Jarvis it is!
I’m surprised Brampton wasn’t represented
I live in Brampton, and if it was, there could be a seperate channel for there all on its own! I have front AND back dash cams living here.
because those accidents are usually the kind where people die.
Around 7min in there is
I bet most of the drivers were from Brampton... causing havoc across Canada..
Have to admit I watch these videos anytime of the day. Also glad they are here cause it's helped me become hyper aware for all the idiots on the roads these days
8:18, Ravi needs to pay more attention, he had so much time to brake!
he drives like hes still in Mumbai
This tells me you never been to ontario 401 or 403. These highways can cause Domino-effect accidents at any time. I never had to fully stopped in highways back in Halifax where i can see all the road closure signs or cop cars on road even if it need to fully stopped. But when i drove to Toronto that surprised me that, i have to go down to 0km/hr from 100km/hr + speed in next second, where that is not possible. This dash cam never shows the real speed because of its wide angle. This driver has better reaction time but he didn’t follow that rule of 4sec of the car infront of him. You can see the red car already crashed and he is lucky to steer away. Drive in Toronto on left lane and feel it
It's seems more simple on video but that's not the case when you are on the highway when you're covering so much distance in so little of time.
@@randomrazrit's physically impossible to drive at that speed in Mumbai
Being a part of this event, I can vouch that you’re given with very less time to respond. And as a human tendency you will either hard break or try to swerve in this situation. Going back to speed 10-20 from 90 km/hr in a fraction of second is impossible and we were lucky enough the truck behind was at a far distance.
being from Ontario i’m fully considered that we have the worst drivers in the whole world. ur basically risking ur life every second ur driving here lol
You obviously didn't learn to drive in Montreal.......while I live in Ottawa now, its never as bad as back home. 🙂
Or Vancouver... even according to Ontario visitors, here it is at least as bad, if not worse. And yes, it is definitely getting worse very quickly as people are getting more stressed and either shutting down their brains or no longer caring about anyone else around them!!!
Oh you haven't driven in Malta!
As a California driver risking my life every second I’m driving here, is it really that bad there?
@@B345T1N355OfficialYes. 10 million people in the greater toronto area alone, which is a small fraction of ontario. Tons of new drivers due to heavy immigration here. It’s really really bad.
6:33 I live two seconds away from this access (and have my entire life LOL) and use it daily. The signs are more than sufficient and there are MANY sets of those lights showing if the lane is open or not in case you miss the plethora of signs. There are also massive traffic arms (like those used in parking garages) that are employed at both the top and bottom to further restrict access during certain times of the day. Hamilton, ON is split by the Niagara Escarpment and these access roads are called "Mountain accesses" as us locals refer to the escarpment as "The Mountain" to differentiate between the upper and lower city. There are several of these accesses throughout the city, however this is the only one that changes directions throughout the weekdays to help with commuter & work day traffic. In the early morning it's only open going down helping those needing off "the Mountain" and 3 hours later it switches back to both directions. In the mid afternoon/early evening it switches to up bound traffic only, and again stays like this for roughly 3 hours before going back to both. I promise it's not nearly as confusing as it may look!🤪
I was born in London (ON), and have lived in Toronto almost 20 years.
The people in the province get their licenses from the bottom of Cracker Jacks boxes.
I live In Hamilton, Ontario, the Sherman Cut is intentionally designed to minimize rock fall risks. The direction of closure depends on the severity of the rockfall on either side.
So happy to see a suggestion i made come to life. Thanks for the quality content and for giving us ontario residents more reason to drive safe
being from Ontario, I'm honored but also sad because we are supposed to be the nice ones
Haha true
Yep😢
Ontario could go back to being nice if they can kick out Burlington and Hamilton. I've been through that part, it's much safer to walk into Russia and yell "Putin is gay" than to drive in those part.
@@Fan-lq6uvI guess you have never been to Brampton 😂
I'm sorry, where have you been the last 10 years? Some of the most rude and obnoxious and mouthy people I have met in the last decade are from Canada particularly some from Ontario.
As a ontario resident I approve of this video
It's truly disheartening to find myself in a situation where I can identify every single location mentioned. The fact that I'm intimately acquainted with all of them underscores a pervasive issue with drivers in Ontario. The prevalence of what seems like a growing number of poor drivers is particularly distressing. This raises broader questions about the state of road safety and the need for effective measures to address and reverse this concerning trend. It's crucial to delve deeper into the root causes and explore comprehensive strategies that can contribute to creating safer roads for everyone in the region.
The causes I attribute the lion's share of problems are: 1. Distracted driving, i.e. smartphones 2. Poor concept of driving, i.e. tunnel vision, nervousness, can't see the big picture or understand traffic patterns. 3. Poor attitude or mood. If you are "hangry" you might just try to pull a cute one at an intersection to save some time, upsetting the order of the intersection and making it dangerous. 4. The odd crazy that goes way too fast and is way over their head. Here in Toronto the speed limits are dropping to ridiculously low levels, to the point where any sane driver would scoff. It can get super expensive to scoff. It does bring out a small cadre of cannonball run drivers. Driving too fast for traffic is a recipe for disaster, with a lot of collateral damage, especially in town when a loaded bus shelter gets plowed into. Yes, even bus drivers can cause accidents, though rare.
Pay full attention is all I can say.
@@BernieBeetov The BIG problem is that the testing for licences is insufficient, 'multiple choice' computer crap, and they have graduated licences and too long to learn. When I got mine, there was a '30 day Learner's Permit'.....and they figured if you were too stupid and unco-ordinated to pass the REAL test (NOT the phony test that they have now) that they had after 30 days....they sure as hell weren't going to give you a licence to go out on the roads and kill someone. The problem is now it's "go woke get dead"....when they give licences to UNQUALIFIED drivers.......because.
@@airborne63 they also give "driving experience equivalencies" for newcomers, cuz driving in Tehran or Mumbai or Saigon is EXACTLY like driving in Ontario in the winter lol Add that English/French is no longer required and you get daily videos like this. McGuinty and Wynne really effed up the MTO with this garbage.
6:44 what in the world?! That's an insane intersection... Im surprised it doesnt have its own channel like the Milwaukee round about or the 10'7 bridge lol
It's not actually that bad. They block access with a lowering arm and they put those LED signs above the road. Should be NO reason to end up in that situation unless the other car wasn't paying attention to the numerous signs. The only difficult part is the first part where there's like 5 places a car could turn into you, and you've got to have a head on a swivel in case someone ignores their yield or stop sign.
They have it set up this way because the road generally isn't busy, but when everyone is trying to get home after work it gets REALLY backed up. This way they can redirect traffic going down the mountain to the other access roads while people coming up the mountain from the downtown office jobs can just go straight up both lanes. Up the mountain is considered the wealthy and middle income areas, and down the mountain are all the lower income people but also all the office work the middle income people work at. It's really just a way to that wealthier people can get home faster.
If you live in the area (hi that's my clip), you get used to how it works. Its the people who don't like nearby that seem to cause issues.
@@ryanthompson3737 That SUV scared the crap out of us. She wasn't paying attention at all. If you check the rearview cam, she also cut off the person turning right up the Cut when she had a yield. Our mic is muted... but I recall much honking.
#10 That exact thing happened to me sometime last year. I almost hit them trying to go around them in the turning lane because they were turning at the same time. Definitely don't go around them in the turning lane.

Wam bam welcome to Hamilton!! The good ole Sherman cut, i drive it up and down everyday and i cant count the amount of craziness I've seen! From guys racing up doing well over 120km to wrong way in wrong lane,
If your used to it and can read and follow the flow its easy but i can tell if youve never been there how bad it is
I love watching your videos! Every day I watch one of your channels!
Ravi was so lucky that the semi-truck after him was far enough, or at least he checked it before turned right.
I'm pretty sure Gregory, the BMW that hit you, is most likely an employee for BMW. Employees often take dealer vehicles for lunch breaks also All dealerships have security cameras, especially luxury dealerships like BMW.
and on top of that that is the electric bmw ix which is ugly and they didny sell them much for sure they know who is the owner and who was driving that car
Without seeing the car turning in front of the tank truck driver it's hard to tell if he wasn't paying attention, or the turning car's driver was one of those people who turn the wheel and the turn signal on at the same time as they hit the brakes to make the turn.
Well done! Do more Ontario videos!
I’m watching this right now before bed time lol.. love these!
Very well done video. A dashcam is a must these days. You have problems doing more videos, so many bad drivers up here in Ontario. I have a few footage as well much not as bad as yours in this video.
A new follower here 👋
#22: the mini van had NO turn signal on to alert drivers they were turning. This is probably why the truck did what it did. The van probably just stopped without warning.
Look closer, the van did have its blinker on. Regardless, turn signal or not, trucker is at fault if a collision occurred.
@@MidnightMustang i thought that to but second time watching you can see its on
Nope. It was the brake light
Turn signal remains on until the wheels turn back toward centre.
@@OddswithThingsLook again. Right and middle taillights remain solid. Left is flashing, that is the blinker. In the US, it is not required for vehicles to have a dedicated, amber coloured blinker for the rear of the vehicle.
Waiting for volume 2! this was great
One of the drivers you presented said that they were fully prepared for winter with their all-seasons tires??? Anybody living in snowy areas should definitely have SNOW tires. In fact in Quebec its the law now. All-seasons are not very good on snow or slush.....
I believe they said “all weather tires “- better, but not ideal in extreme winter weather.

#23 I've come close to doing that same exact thing before. At night with bright headlights coming at you, you can't always tell if there's an island there and if you're in the turn lane too early. Luckily I was able to move back over without hitting the island.
This is status quo in Ontario especially in Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto
If everyone in Ontario had dash cams, we would have an infinite amount of submissions. Driving here is like a nightmare sometimes, and even just walking at the crosswalk is dangerous. I literally almost got hit by 4 cars from trying to cross 2 crosswalks within 3 minutes where I had the right of way. But 4 drivers decided that they didn't have enough time to wait for me to walk a bit further before speeding across a few inches ahead of me, doing a quick U-turn right after my crosswalk signal turned white (green), and slowly moving forward as I walk towards the direction of their car. I swear they are just handing out driver's licenses to anyone these days. Not the best driver either, but still...
At the intersection near me (or really the 75m long road with crosswalks at either end) I see people not stopping at the 3-way stop sign, turning right and almost hitting someone. This happens multiple times a day like the drivers had a meeting and most agreed to ignore that stop sign. Or they stop but go out of turn because "reasons" (I do not know if they are just ignorant how stop signs work). But I also see some of the dumbest pedestrians too. Multiple times a week I see pedestrians jay-walk across this short road, just to continue walking toward the corner that is like 50 feet or less away. Usually it is a mother and/or father dragging 2 or 3 kids under the age of 8 across the road just 50 feet from the crosswalk. It is insane. Now multiply this one short road across all the roads in my city and I am scared for people. Maybe we need tougher testing for drivers, or mandatory retesting every few years. Something needs to be done, it is almost like these people have had no training or testing at all.

The Sherman cut in Hamilton, has one-direction traffic during rush-hour depending on the morning/evening. During weekdays only, in the morning it's traffic down the mountain, and in the afternoon it's traffic up the hill. We have many mountain accesses, and this one runs smooth with the exception of this video.
Wait until you see the footage of Jarvis St in Toronto where the middle lane of 5 is direction dependent during certain hours and its not just rush.
😂 I was wondering when this was coming out 😂😂
Torontonian here. There’s a joke that you hear time and time again about how people in this city forgot how to drive during the pandemic. Coupled with low enforcement and rampant fraudulent driver certification in the education and licensing, things have become wild. I see wild things every day.
I had to laugh because i literally knew every spot in this video. I live in Hamilton too
6:50 Québec city and Montreal both have a bridge that has an extra lane in one direction depending on the time of day. Peoples are used to it. The electronic signage is more than enough to do the job. The bridge in Québec bas a series of cones that are moved twice a day, every day, rain shine or snow.
Same with the bridge between Ontario and Quebec in Ottawa
The “wave@ from the guy running the light is ontarios signal for “oops I f’d up, sorry”

Dash cams are a must.
2:19 I don't think the van had a signal light on, just the brake lights.
4:52 In slippery conditions like that you should never try crossing a big intersection until everyone is stopped, even if you have to wait for 2 or 3 lights.
The van’s signal was definitely on, it flashes 5 times at the beginning before the truck blocks the view of it, but then when the truck swerves around the van the signal isn’t on anymore because he probably turned his wheels left and then straight again, shutting off the signal.
Let’s be real, 90% of Ontario accidents happen in Brampton. And there’s a reason for that, I won’t say it but I know you know it.
I’ll say it for you, no hate to them, it’s the East Indian immigrants.

Every driver in Ontario should have a dashcam. The roads are being used by a lot people who shouldn’t have licences.

Double commenting but 9:02 - I was camping just outside of Barrie a few years ago with a friend. We drove into Barrie itself so I could meet an online friend I had known for nearly eight years. On the way back to our campsite, someone drove their Jeep off of the on-ramp from the highway (one of the 400-ones) the wrong way, t-boned my friend’s Volvo XC90 us hard enough to almost flip us. The accident completely blew the back right tire and destroyed the entire right quadrant of our vehicle as well as absolutely demolish the front of their Jeep. Our camp setup was a tent attached to the Volvo so needless to say, were nearly SOL until we got a rental after having to stay at a hotel for the night. They tried to make it off like we were at fault, when a dozen drivers (including a nurse) watched it all happened as they were behind us. Both cars were a write-off, and sketchily, the other vehicle had friends who who showed up within 2 minutes to pick them up - EMS hadn’t even shown yet (it was needed as I have a back injury from the accident).
8:10 I happen to know a Ravi in the Cambridge area and I'd laugh if this was him. I've travelled that same stretch of the 401 on a regular basis. Its had construction and closed lanes forever. The signage is TERRIBLE.
