That Volvo in the first clip was an absolute tank. $2800 to repair, landed upright, and it didn’t even look badly damaged.

It's why if you feel your self getting tired, find the nearest walmart or other big box store, and rest for a bit. You often see truckers parked in the lots because of the numerous number of cameras. If that is not the available, a truck stop, or McDonald's would be the next bet.

$2800, that's the price to have a new emblem put on a Tesla..
Also, the first accident might not have happened if the car had, had lane assist, in that case, the car would have corrected and probably woken him up, and he would hopefully have stopped for a quick nap at that time.

7:10 That is unbelievable. A lot of cars you show in videos in USA are a "total loss". But why? Almost everything can be fixed if there is a will to do it. In my opinion it is a shame to throw away a car (or any other thing) that is almost undamaged.
Because of two things, insurance has a policy that they will pay to make your car as good as new but sometimes the crash causes frame damage which cannot be repaired perfectly which in turn causes a total loss. The other reason the car is old and not worth much so repairs would cost more than just buying the same car used so they total the car and give you the money to buy an used car which is of course less than repairing the car, in short insurance wants to spend the least amount of money on you.
@@LazyBoyA1 Frame damage? Just hit it few times with hammer, paint it and done. It does not have to be perfect because the bumper cover will hide the imperfections.

Agreed. First world nations are too used to throwing things away and replacing them because of easily fixable damage, or just because they think it might be getting old.
The only time I have ever thrown something away is because there was no possible hope for repair, and even then, the thing will be salvaged for usable parts.
If my insurance told me a car was totaled, I would insist on hauling it to my grandpa's old shop and making it work again.
@@LazyBoyA1 Correct, the crumple zones are difficult to repair to original crash worthiness specs. Insurance companies can’t risk putting an inherently unroadworthy vehicle back on the road.

I'm amazed that with an off like that it only took $2800 to fix it. I'm just used to seeing all those outlandish repair bills for Teslas, where you only need to lean on them to incur that much cost.
Friendly reminder to anyone involved in a crash or sees a crash. DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE! Unless you're flipped upside down, or the car is on fire. With adrenaline pumping you might not feel pain that could be caused and you could end up hurting yourself more. in this guys case he had a broken vertebra, and got out. He could have easily caused more damage to his spine, and could have became paraplegic.
"Wiring harness damaged beyond repair.". Good one. Really. Hell, I hit a deer and had damage to my 2011 Honda Insight's wiring harness back in 2015. I'm STILL driving my 2011 Honda Insight after repairs.

I currently work for a Volvo dealership collision repair shop. They are tank and hold up very well in accidents. It's funny, most of them are t-bones. Mercedes benz owners- get off my road, BWM owners- what's a turn signal? Volvo owners- red lights and stop signs are merely a suggestion.

$2,800 fixes a dent on a Tesla.
But the Tesla accident avoidance would prevent you from driving in the ditch in the first place. It’s not about saving money on expenses about saving your life.
8:22 the AMG driver did not do anything himself to save the spin, the car's traction control saved him. Couter steered far too late and did the worst thing he could have done at this moment - pushed the brake.
Some training at a closed off couse would be advisable before going on a spirited drive on a public road.

my old 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo was the most comfortable car i ever owned. the seat was like a glove and there was a large shelf on the door frame to rest your left arm. i can see how someone might fall asleep in an older volvo. not sure about the newer ones but apparently so

I have to admit I sort of dose off while on the road for 10 + hours only stoping for gas. I know a lot of vehicles have this feature but my Cadillac XT5 lane keep assist system kept me from flying off the road. I of course immediately got rest at a gas station.

#2 I know where this is. This is in Fremont, Mission blvd/680 freeway. What he didnt mention is that the truck is actually going downhill from the exit. People speed through that unintentionally because (+its california speed from the freeway) that part of 680 is downhill already, plus the downhill on the exit. not enough pavement, especially for trucks.
As someone who has hit a deer and several near misses, sometimes you don't even realize they were there until they're long gone or you see them slide across the road after hitting them
Waaaait a minute. Not only was the Volvo repairable, after sliding through a ditch, getting air and faceplanting into a field with airbags deployed, but it also only cost $2800 to fix it?! That's what I paid for my last two cars in maintenance alone. Either the repair is really REALLY shotty or that's one tank of a car
