shiek being referred to as male in Ocarina of time was because they wanted to make it more surprising that it was zelda, not because shiek was actually intended to be male
thank you
Plus it was a sweet strategic disguise
Doesn't make me want Link x Shiek yaoi any less.
Jack King same
it´s like the first Metroid that in the guide they refered to samus as a He, just to make the surprise more....surprising hahahaha
I donât think the shiek thing is a censorship. Sheâs dressed as a dude, so everyone in the game who meets her thinks sheâs a dude. In-game, it keeps the immersion to convince you itâs a dude until the big reveal. Since then, everybody knows itâs zelda so they just call shiek a her
This.
Heh like me!
Also he makes the comment about "having to turn into a man to become more powerful" which is outright incorrect.
Zelda did not turn into Shiek to be stronger, she turned into Sheik so that Ganon wouldn't recognize her and allowed her to help Link.
This is shown twofold as most of Sheik's help comes in the form of wisdom and advice, which is not gender dependent. And more so in the end when Sheik drops his guard and reveals himself as Zelda only to be INSTANTLY captured by Ganon without him even being present!
Was gonna comment the same thing
Plautaneas guidance even calls shiek he
The whole Shiek debate is stupid.
Zelda obviously just disguised herself as a man. She pretended to be a man, that's why everyone thought she was a man.
It's like Mulan, or Lucina from Fire Emblem. It's not that hard to grasp.
She had to hide from Ganon, it was the safest thing to do.
THANK YOU!
SHINOBU YOU ARE JUST AWESOME, THANK YOU!
Look it's just that sometimes people just think too hard and then take things too far
Thank you
Honestly why did he brought this up. The answer is right there. The Sheik debate isn't deep and hardly a censor
People on Twitter literally think Mulan and Lucina are trans as well. đ¤ˇââď¸
My thought on Sheik is that I always thought they labeled her with male pronouns to hide the fact that she was really Zelda, since at the time, it was a massive plot twist in the game.
Yeah, I don't know why it would require a convoluted explaination. It's like Samus in the original Metroid game.
Itâs only complicated with the gender identity nonsense of the west trying to use gendered language as a way to validate it.
Itâs simple sheâs very good at drag and didnât break character
I think it's really funny how the smash team goes out of his way to censor everything in smash, expect Bayonetta.
@Jordan Thompson Sakurai himself has admitted he's an ass man, I think?
Except*
Admittedly, they did have to heavily censor Bayonetta when she uses her hair. It seems that to the ESRB (And similar rating boards), the presence of skin is a bigger issue than their figure alone lol.
@@red5t653 that makes sense after what he did to zss
Bayonetta is super censored. In the actual games she is way more revealing
The reason why the characters in OoT refer to Sheik as male is because they don't who Sheik is and assumed she was a he or for surprise factor they don't want to spoil it to the player. And it's been like that for the next following years since the release. Now, Nintendo is open to Sheik as female because her game is more than 2 decades old
There's still gonna be a guy saying "Wtf why did they have to spoil that" Like bitch do you leave under a Goron corpse?
Exactly what I was gonna say. It makes no sense why someone would call that "censoring".
No, they referred to sheik as male because he was male. They changed his gender to female later.
Grapeyv Not really. They referred to her as male because at that time she was pulling a Mulan on Ganondorf, the same reason they referred to Link in-game as female while in Gerudo drag. And remember that Metroid also referred to Samus as male for the same surprise factor as Sheik in her game. Of course the secret is as known nowadays as Darth Vader being... you know, so why hide it anymore? And remember that she wasnât the only princess to pretend to be a dude while in disguise. Remember Lucina?
@@grapeyv lmao, bro you wildin
Fire Emblem Heroes: *nervous sweating*
" looks at Lyn" yeah, fair point
Wasn't Summer Tiki censored?
@@regalblade8171 Lyn has big boobs, but she doesn't show anything revealing so she would be fine though I did find it annoying how they made the size of Cordelia's chest armor smaller since in Awakening there is an optional scene where it is revealed that she purposely made it that way so people wouldn't know she was flat.
Lmao so true đ
@@RaidikV never heard or seen anything regarding summer tiki being censored. Which one are you referring to anyway?
"Shiek is confirmed to be a woman by this article" Well duh, its Zelda in a disguise. The debate about Shiek's gender should have been over and done with the moment people found out they were actually Zelda.
Yeah I never understood why that was a debate, Sheik is a woman disguise as a man and that is as "complicated" as it gets.
I feel like the debate comes from Sheik's design as the N64 the use of male pronouns plus the muscular chest coupled with every other appearance of Sheik is shown with a fuller chest
Fun fact for anyone who didnât know: at some point after ultimates release, an update to Xenoblade made a Nopon appear in one of the towns that, probably after Mythra is introduced, gives a free aux core (special gear for blades and this one was indeed very good for gear) that gave Mythra her smash design that even covers her not hidden back with the tights as well. Actually looks pretty nice.
@@TARDISES I'm one of them, personally prefer the covered versions to the original ones.
Yeah I typically keep that aux core on and tights start to grow on you after a while, but until today I didn't realize they they covered her cleavage in smash, something that never happened in XC2
Tights Mythra is best Mythra.
@@tardigrade8019 I wholeheartedly agree
Actually, I wished they went all in on this idea and have different outfits and custimization for all the blades. Got a generic blade? No it can be purple, got that blade that's a little girl and a polar bear? Christmas dress panda bear skin.
I just assumed that official sources called shiek with she/her pronouns just because itâs not really a spoiler anymore
And besides, no one has a problem with still calling Link a guy while in Gerudo drag, right?
Agu Fungus right haha. Honestly props to Nintendo for making the cross dressing thing not too offensive or anything. I mean the NPC who tells link to wear the Gerudo garb may be a bit of a stereotypical gay man/drag queen, but the way the actual outfit change readily fools almost everyone in Gerudo town is just handled in such a nonchalant and cool way.
(I mean when the first BOTW trailer was released people thought Link was a girl lol, he looks more feminine/ also kinda androgynous but thatâs just kinda the case, and I personally think itâs really cool. : ) )
@@caseys2698 i dont think it matters if its inclusive or not. The gerudo have been around for ages and this is just a funny way to get past them.
Some people say Link is a girl when he's wearing the kawaii gerudo outfit as a joke.
Zelda disguises herself as a man to be even further under the radar
Birdo is so powerful, they use all gender pronouns, you literally cannot misgender them. Truly an icon
Would have been hilarious if you used him and then her in the same sentence.
Just Pikachud then they
Birdo is truly a "they". Have you seen Birdo in Super Mario Strikers?
@@justpikachud1804 FNaF Mangle In a nutshell.
Birdo is stunning and brave
Jynx's design is actually based on a famous ice witch from Japanese folklore, hence the strange appearance.
Potato Patato
Too bad that never crossed the mind of the woman who filed that personal complaint.
Guess it pays to be myopic.
yes. and that's why I hate that censorship. It came from ignorance of Japanese culture.
Oh, so that's why Jynx is ice type.
That and maybe Ganguro. At the very least, it has as much to do with Blackface as Popo does: Nothing.
You're stretching it with sheik, she was ALWAYS just Zelda in disguise. She was reffered to male many times throughout the game because they were trying to *hide her gender and identity FROM THE PLAYER.*
This is so obvious its not even funny.
Thatâs an interpretation. Like their description in the manual said, theyâre Zeldaâs "alter-ego". Itâs a whole new personnality that Zelda crafted to hide herself, a personnality which is the one of a young man. Iâm not talking split personnality or trans identity here, iâm just saying that Sheik could simply be a male character, played by a female "actor". Sheik is not Zelda in the same way that Spiderman is not Tom Holland. At least, thatâs my interpretation of the situation as it was presented in OOT
Lurony good description
@@caihly2443 Alter ego tends to commonly mean disguised identity yknow that right?
Zangelin the world "alter ego" was literally created to talk about split personnality disorder, and is still now used to designate another personnality that is distinct from the main one. An alter ego is a new personnality, who can very well have another gender. To get back to the example of acting I used before, know that it was common in the time of Shakespeare that male actor would play female roles (maybe it was systematic but Iâm not 100% sure). Does that mean that Gertrude of Denmark is a man because she is played by a man? No, she has been created as a female, and is the actorâs "alter ego", despite being a different gender. This is so obvious itâs not even funny.
Lurony Personally I say itâs not this case when considering OoT from a 90s Japanese perspective. The idea of Sheik being male stems from a mix of Aonuma and the devs wanting to hide her identity from the player as well as the in-lore focus of hiding Zelda from Ganondorf to not obtain Wisdom, combined with the fact that Japan in those times were a very appearance-focused society when it comes to identity. If you dressed like a man and hid your features well enough, for all intents and purposes, you are a man. A dissociative identity/alter ego is much different in context, as generally speaking you canât just âswitchâ these identities at will like Zelda does with Sheik, and to put that into context, hereâs some examples from around the same time as OoT that make use of alter egos/dissociative identities. The first being Male Shiki from Garden of Sinners/Kara no Kyoukai, whom is an identity that was created by Shikiâs parents to hide her power to A. Prevent accidents, and B. Keep maguses and other existences from learning about her abilities. And generally speaking, Male Shiki does nothing to change his appearance to fit his identity, which Iâve noticed is a common line in Japanese media that portray this properly, so in many cases heâd be misidentified as normal, female Shiki. Now with the second character, we got Boogiepop from Boogiepop And Others/Boogiepop wa Waranai. As with Shiki, Boogiepop is a male identity within the character Touka Miyashita who exists to defend order in the world and appears whenever threats pop out. Generally speaking he conducts himself as he were a male and uses male pronouns, but appearance wise he doesnât do anything to change much besides wear his outfit to be an identifiable âshinigamiâ so as to cause threats to act when rumours pop that heâs around. If one were to get close rather than see him from afar at night, he would also be very quickly identified as Touka from standard people that wouldnât think of dissociative identity playing a part in the character. Likewise, with both characters, they donât just flip a switch at will and go back to their normal selves, itâs something that happens organically when the situation calls for them to exeunt. This, as I mentioned previously, is in stark contrast to the Zelda/Sheik scenario and I can say with 110% certainty that this was not Aonuma and Miyamotoâs intention when creating OoT.
I don't think the Shiek thing is censorship, the whole point of the disguise is to look like a male so that the player will be completely surprised by the fact that it is Zelda.
Also you probably should of mentioned that the "up yours" motion is much more offensive in other regions, such as Italy or other European countries.
The disguise Zelda used "storywise" is more to prevent Ganondorf from capturing her. However the surprise reveal works quite well due to Shiek's entirely male body to surprise the player.
See to me, Bowser definitely seemed like he was doing it as an 'up yours' and definitely suits his character.
But when Inkling did it I immediately thought of Rosie the Riveter in the WW2 'We can do it' motivational poster.
Which I thought was pretty cool, but I get where it can be misconstrued.
what does the motion mean
@@dr.simonius609 basically a comeback insult to anyone that insults you with some relevance to sexual parts, I guess? I don't really know, I only did it, like, around 5 times my entire life...

RIP Mythras thighs, gone but not forgotten
She looks a bit better imo
@nikz² why do you say wrong things?
are you insane? dont you know that black tights on thighs are the greatest thing ever?
She looks even hotter now
Ok, well, thereâs multiple variables to it. Firstly, it doesnât make sense for her to wear black tights specifically. Sheâs a light blade (Iâm saying blade to make things simple) and is predominately white. I know her personality isnât all light (if you know what I mean), which I suppose the black tights can represent, but it just clashes with the rest of her attire. But if weâre excluding personality, the artwork of her in the tights is pretty bad at showing sheâs wearing tights. It just looks more like her legs are black, which is what they did so....... but her in-game model in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with the tights is great. Black tights do make Mythra more sexy, but for the most part how they represent Mythra with the tights, it just doesnât seem right. Her exposed thighs are beautiful
I always just felt like they refered to Sheik being a male as a way to not make the connection that Sheik is Zelda to make sure the twist comes out of nowhere by making everyone believe Sheik was male when in reality it was Zelda
Like the time the first Metroid game made us believe Samus was a guy. And then thereâs, ahem, Lucinaâs disguise.

Bailey West ya but the age of consent is 12 in Japan
The Shanaman youâre joking....
Oh my goodness, just googled to confirm and youâre correct.... itâs ~13... my god. No wonder anime has âwaifusâ who look 9 but are âsecretly a goddess who is 900 years oldâ
@@Bailey_West The problem with Lin in my opinion is that even though she is technically 13, you take a look at her and she seems way older, and in the actual game she is an engineer. They create characters that are supposed to be young but then make them look like adults. I just don't get it. If you're gonna have that type of outfits, why make her a 13 year old? Would it really be that much of a difference if she was 18 instead? It just makes everyone uncomfortable.
@@Bailey_West Yes and no. The age of consent in Japan is technically 13, however there are still laws in place that prevent large age gaps from being formed. Being 18 and up while trying to get together with a 13 year old can and will lead to either a misdemeanor or felony. Essentially the age of consent being 13 only really applies if both parties are 13 or slightly above, large age gaps do still lead to legal actions. 18 is still pretty much the "real age of consent" in Japan. There are other rules and differences depending on where exactly you are in Japan that you should probably research if you want more information, but still, age of consent isn't really 13.
Wazow ah that makes a bit more sense, thanks for clarifying!
It feels odd not being offended by any of these and thinking most of them were kind of dumb to be offended over. With a couple, ok they had a point, but most of these were just people nit-picking.
None of them should be offensive... itâs Nintendo they donât try to make things offensive... they shouldnât have to get rid of these things for over sensitive people... it pisses me off that any of these would offend anyone... Nintendo made it the way they made it, let it stay like that. I canât deal with how sensitive people can be like holy Hell...

Now that Pyra and Mythra are both playable in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pyra is also censored. Where her thigh is shown, it is replaced with a brown cover (this is not the case with any of her spirits).
Jynx is inspired by yama uba, a Japanese yo kai witch that will inspire the ganguro fashion. It is why she was depicted as part of the a trio with magmar and elektabuz during the 3 first generation, yama uba is associated with oni ( elektabuz ).
it's a shame jynx didn't get an evolution it might have actually made it look good
It would have to lose its Ice typing in order for that to happen.

The Mythra censor in Smash may actually be a reference to her special outfit in Torna: The Golden Country. In the late game, you can get an equip that boosts Mythra's def and similar things and covers her legs with tights and her chest. It's also completely optional. So it's either a reference, since the art of her Spirit does exist in Torna or it is indeed a censor
Didn't Torna: The Golden Country come out after Smash Ultimate though?
I think the Outfit is called the Massive Melee Outfit and the Nopon who gives it to you says itâs good for people who like Smashing and Brawling. I think itâs a reference to the Smash Spirit censorship.
It's early game. I got the game in 2019 and you were able to get it at the second camp from the beginning near the village
Gray Shores yeah in the base game he says âdoes it increase your blasting distanceâ and something about it being the *ultimate* core in reference to smash ultimate as well

"13 is too young, no matter what culture you're in."

Don't forget Joker and Snake.
For the record, I didn't know that the gesture that Bowser and Inkling use was offensive at all until I heard about the censorship.
And there's the disgusting beauty of censorship, it's only offensive when someone tries to make it.
Same, though other commenters have said its very offensive in Italy
I thought the inkling pose was a reference to the âwe can do itâ poster from WWII
Jordan Tillman ok, yeah, but then why bother making two âwesternâ localizations? Seems a bit silly and like too much work for then to care. Youre dealing with a company here.
It's the equivalent of the middle finger in many Latin countries and some other European countries. I bet in some countries (maybe Japan?) it's seen as a thing that a rascal would do, like blowing a raspberry, but otherwise I can see why Nintendo wouldn't want what's basically the middle finger in one of their kid's games lol
Lin is 13 in all versions of Xenoblade X. Aside from the bikini, in the Japanese version you can actually increase or decrease the bust size of the female avatar in the customization menu.
And somehow when censoring Mythra they only made people like her design more
Employees of Monolithsoft being some of them since they patched the game to add that outfit.
Tights still show curves and such with legs, so she's still thicc. And the sudden use of black catches your eye compared to the rest of her outfit.
I always thought Zelda intentionally designed Shiek to be ambiguous since that would make a better disguise.
that's the thing but people think too deeply into it
does anyone else feel like this video dragged on for...quite a while? like it seems like it was around 10 minutes but the creator had to stall or something??
Damn, I guess people really do get offended by everything nowadays
I wouldn't necessarily say "nowadays", some of these censorships occured over two decades ago.

Digital age- it still counts.
It's more like offended people have been around forever, but the Internet has given them a platform.
Soon in the future ppl will be offended by shoe size
@i .candy I guess it's more to do with having several generations of people growing up in the digital age and interconnectedness with the rest of the world. Normally it's a good thing to introduce people to new perspectives and backgrounds and learn how to deal with differences, but now even the world's village idiots have been able to convene and become heard. The real problem is, some of those village idiots are also our politicians and high-roll investors who get to tell everyone else how to think.
Being "woke" has lost all meaning by now. It's not even about social justice anymore. It's about politics controlling the Internet, but that's been happening since the 90s when the Internet was first getting widespread in the US. It's just gotten more and more filtered ever since, but it is what it is.
Tharja also had to be entirely removed from Smash 3DS

Censorship sucks, but it's sadly understandable
Beau Rafferty I disagree that itâs understandable. Why should media/art be censored? Especially when an artistâs/creatorâs/etcâs work is meant to be enjoyed as they made it. People will be offended by anything and everything now, so let them. Yet let people enjoy things as itâs meant to be (as long as itâs not harmful at least).

@@silver7215 Sometimes its understandable I dont think anyone wants to see a 13 year old in a bikini
@@silver7215 I disagree. Mythras design for instance wouldn't be ok for a game that's for all ages. As well as that different cultures find different things acceptable. Here in most of the western world a 13 year old wearing a very skimpy bikini is not ok in the slightest.
Yeetus Deletus for girls that are under 18, yes, in an adultâs pov, thatâs kinda weird/not cool, but you gotta think, a lot of young people that are the age of the characters in the game (as in, the gamer is also 13 or so) play these games too. And especially for boys around that age is when they start to get those hormones going. And well, that sells.
You donât have to like it, so just donât play those games. You realize you donât have to interact with things you donât like.
I love it that "woke" people will be offended by any and all stereotypes, yet unless the stereotype is overtly offensive, most people simply find it funny, like you and me with Bear Hugger.
About the 13 yo girl...
In Japan, 13 is the "legal age" in the sense of 18 is the "legal age" in America.
So it's less of cultural acceptance and more of different laws being in different places.
actually not every state has 18 as "legal age", some are set at 16 or 17. Yes, I know it's still creepy.
Cultural acceptance still plays a part in this. If 13 was suddenly made the legal age in areas where its 18, we would be disgusted. So many people are disgusted by the states where the legal age is 16, imagine if it was as low as 13.
The minimum possible legal age in japan is only 13 but each prefecture gets to decide its own, and they all decided pedophilia is bad.

Not only is this a game that, as you said, stereotypes everyone - Japan included, mind you - but also, it is no different from the stereotype of Irish people drinking beer a lot, which they just gleefully embrace for shits and giggles, not unlike Mexicans embracing the poncho and sombrero stereotype, which is why Mario wearing those in Odyssey was also not offensive to them. It is up there with Bear Hugger's stereotyping, and the only reason why it was censored was to keep alcohol references out of the game for game rating reasons, not because it is "offensive". Literally nobody thinks that.
Well, it is steriotypical, but since we arent russian, we wouldnt know whether they think it is offensive, but mostly i think not
Funny enough as someone like the character of Pyra, that Mythra change made me a bigger fan of her than Pyra.
Tights are just that powerful in bringing out the beauty and elegance.
As much as I am usually against censorship, I actually dig Mythra's Revised Design in Ultimate.
Anyone else get the sudden urge to... uh... never mind.
Yeah bro same I got the sudden urge to read the bible too
yeah same dude, god is good
I'm right here we you brother LOL!
What are you thing MHHH
Mah i see what you mean magmar lookin kinda thic
I love that ssbu is rated e for everyone when zero suit and bayonetta are both in the game
?
So what? lmao
@@shivers47 because for obiously reasons
Whatâs so bad about them
@@david_8916 Tell me.
Honestly, Mythra looks WAY better (and more atteactive) in leggings. Don't you agree?
Fans definitely thought so given the amount of fanart that was made afterwards. Honestly I think she looks a lot more mature with the black leggings.
I don't like the yoga pants but I like her design a lot more without the boob window.
I know right? I can actually take her seriously in important story parts
I really don't want to sound insensitive, but if someone has a problem with a feather in on someone's head, then that person probably doesn't have anything else to worry about.
I'm pretty sure most Native Americans wouldn't give a shit about an 8-bit feather that appears on screen for a fraction of a second then disappears.
@@PsychoGamer2100 Most Native Americans don't even have a problem with the name of the Washington Redskins football team.
The point is that it's something that shouldn't have been included. Why risk a portion of your playerbase?
And you know this because..? Do you need a little history refresher or are you just a sociopath?
@@Redheart709 Exactly, they had plenty of other attack ideas they could've used from the dozens of other G&W games but decided to go with the one that might actually upset some people. There's no reason to defend that
In Japan the age of consent is low at 13, although some municipalities such as Tokyo prohibit sexual activity under 18 years old in most circumstances.
I love the fact that in Torna you can change Regular Mythra to Censored Mythra pretty early.
I don't have the game yet, and i assume (maybe wrongly) that the dlc is meant to be played after you beat the main story, but can you switch Mythra like that before starting the dlc? I plan on getting XC2, and i prefer her censored outfit over her regular one
@@MsGoxel Actually the Torna Dlc is a prequel to the main Xenoblade Chronicles 2 game, so you can play this dlc before, if you were not familiar with Xenoblade like me, or the opposite. And you can change Regular Mythra to Black Stockings Censored Mythra after your first encounter with her pretty early on the game by equip an accessory.
Alphaxel The core for it in the main game you can get early as the npc that gives it to you is a nopon found in Argentum which is the first area and he shows up if you have the game updated to the last patch. Wonât do anything outfit wise until you get Mythra though a couple chapters later down the road (around 15-35 hours in depending on what you do.) otherwise itâs still a solid core for any crit based blade and has the near same value as a base endgame crit core (IV or V IIRC.) As for Torna, it also pops up pretty early too.
@@ivanzoneBR thank you for your answer! I'll probably play the main game before the dlc's story, but it's nice to know that
@@Kanethedragon well, given my (non existent) speed in rpg, chances are the time I'll get myhtra will be on the later end of your estimate
Zelda doesn't turn into Sheik to become more powerful, she does it to literally just disguise herself
I love how they tried to censor Mythra with tights as if that ISN'T something even more horny
I like how everyone approved of the Mythra "Censor" because it basically improved her over all attractiveness. That's the kind of censorship we need, one that everyone agrees with.
I agree, and I kind of found the amount of times the game goes out of its way to give you a look up her dress annoying after a while. I mean, when you watch the cutscene of them watching a tirkin threaten Tatazo(Tora's father) in the factory Mythra is literally bending over and giving the player a full view of her ass.
I mean....it's only okay since it's optional, but if I had to pick that over Mythra's original outfit, I'd pass on the censored outfit all day every day. Plus, it's not like it's the end of the world since it only really is mandatory in smash and she's not even playable
Yep, it's like Miru tights
I prefer the original
I disagree with you vehemently, the only censorship we should have is optional censorship.
if you don't like something you can flip a switch and change it ( like the helmet hidden feature in games like mass effect) but that doesn't and shouldn't apply to everyone.
"Oh no female skin! Lets cover her up!!!"
"Oh look ladies you can undress Link in Breath of the wild, hot huh? Aww wink!"
I'm just glad Sakurai thinks censoring small things is pointless, That's why he took a jab at while Mai couldn't be in Smash, He knows, Come on Bayonetta is in Smash.
The Xenoblade X issue OOooooh boy let me tell you, No matter how your point is that you ONLY and I do mean ONLY against the removal of the bust slider, people who shill and defend the censor will ALWAYS and I do mean ALWAYS try to make it about Lin. I mean ALWAYS, The bust slider was a clear over shoot on Nintendo's part. After Xenoblade 2's Pyrah and The remake of Xenoblade Chronicles' Sharla not being censored I'm, sure if they made remake or a port of Xenoblade X Lin's clothing or character model will get a make over or they will recon her to an older age. They will most likely change the character creation so the bust slider would organically added back in instead of off on it's own separate section.
But only time will tell.
The answer to the sheik question, he is a male according to the manga and was transformed by Zelda herself to avoid Ganon and it was so good that Ganon himself didnât know
Some of those censorship seems to be due to culture differences: like Bowser and Inklingâs gesture, or Jynxâs skin tone.
The Mythra one is an improvement imo rather than censor.
Improvement to your tastes, and yes it's still censorship regardless of if it's cooler, better or if you like it.
You canât go wrong with leggings if you wanna wear a short skirt and still look modest especially if youâre gonna be in combat
The sudden black actually draws your eyes more.
Lin's age was never changed, she's still 13. Only her outfits were cencored
Madame Flurry: Sweats nervously
All I've learned from this video is that people get needlessly offended over the smallest things.
7:59 13:09 spoilers
Shiek was never meant to be Zelda using magic to transform to a boy, princess Ruto was deceived by the disguise, and the magazine was just clear of spoilers.
I don't know if they are "censciouring" Birdo, I think they are just referring to her using the terms she is comfortable with.
Also a funny Translation Error: In the German Version of Super Mario Galaxy 2 Only, Lubba is a Female
Iâm so glad you used Mario Super Sluggers music for Birdo!
Petition to make censor be a thing that's toggleable in video games
This comment needs more likes, maybe a pin.
Actually for mythra, thatâs her appearance in Tora: The Golden Country. Itâs not censorship, itâs choosing the less provocative version
No, it was censorship. She got the stockings skin after the fact, but was given those in Smash to censor her.
Iâm trans myself and I love Vivian! Itâs a amazing that a trans character made it into a Nintendo game (excluding Birdo). Though unfortunately Iâm pretty sure that she was censored in America because they didnât want a trans character in a childrenâs game...
Pervert.
Man, some people are just too soft.
I agree tbh.
faxs
What, young kids?
Okay? What's that have to do with this video?
dappitydingdong saying young kids feel very soft sounds creepy
"10 times Nintendo was forced to censor their own characters"
And the thumbnail shows mythra, HOW FREAKING ACCURATE
Fire Emblem: *pat cute anime girl head*
The west: NO! >:C
Pokemon: *pet Machoke's crotch*
The west: OK! :D
Why
For reasons like this and more I often wonder why some Pokemon have an E rating instead of a E+10. I do not want to sound like an old-school puritan or even worse, a progressist puritan, but some of the elements aren't a good idea to put in a children's game like animal abuse or some dialogues or artworks.
Mythra's "censorship" was just a design improvement tbh
What they did with Sheik is reverse of what they did with Samus in Metroid. Plus Zelda was hiding for seven years while waiting for Link, so she disguised herself as a male so Ganondorf wouldn't find her

I always thought G&Wâs torch was a mop đđ

I thought it was a spoon
Did everyone forget about zero suit samus from the transition of 4 to ultimate?
Sakurai mentioned they changed Mr game and watch to look more like his original games
I love the Japanese version of Lin because I'm very accepting of their culture. But I understand people have their own views, and I know I'm going to get backlash for this.
10:52 HUH Wow how is that even a Up Yours gesture? That pose is actually the same pose from the woman's rights poster. So people misunderstood that gesture and women's right gesture is not a good thing? I feel like people complain over the smallest things when reality its called parenting. "Hey (son or daughter) that is not a good thing to (do or say) don't do that or (punishment). How is it parents don't do this but complain to companies trying to make money and make something for the community get hurt. Customers are not kings. If we didn't have people inventing things we be back in the 50s. Thats like saying hey cell phone community stop allowing other people from talking to my kid when you as the parent should put them on a parent call only list in the first place.
The reason why mai will never be in smash as a camoe is that to keep smash ultimate rating in japan rated A CERO which translate to for all ages. The good boys and girls is actually translated in the Japanese broadcast he said that mai could not be added because the CERO rating is very strict. Also back in 3ds and Wii U the Japanese version is censored with palutena and lyn trophy were toned back by making it least revealing.
Did this guy forget that Zero Suit Samuâs chest was shrunk from Smash 4 to Ultimate
The Birdo situation is very simple to understand. It's a genderless species with a feminate appearance and it's more than one of them.
And here I was thinking Smash was for good boys and girls.
I actually think the censored version of mythra was actyally an unintentional upgrade i really dig that version more
The manual probably called Sheik a make to avoid spoilers
Surprise surprise, companies donât care as much about whatâs canon as fans do lmao
The thumbnail is ironic seeing as she's in smash now
So is Birdo transgender or do they literally think they are a girl?
17:00 You did it better than the localization team too XD
You know what Nintendo didn't censor though? Waluigi in Super Mario Strikers on Gamecube doing a "SUCK MY WAH" gesture to the whole crowd.
My theory for Shiek is she said she was a boy in order to not giving any clue about her real identity to ganondorf or his minions
People are way too sensitive if they are getting offended because of fictional characters. Most of these things arenât a big deal.
True but theres a line when make something far
@@thesandkingdom yes, but everyoneâs line is different and we are letting the weakest people in our society draw those lines for everyone.
@@billystink4611 Bro there is a universal line everyone agrees. Theres a difference between being sensitive. Also Women dont feel comfortable being sexualized and Men arenât Women.
Now if someone is getting mad over some leg showing then YEA they are sensitive. And its ok if some fan service but Obviously theres line that mustne be crossed in a E game.
@@thesandkingdom I agree that there may be some vague universal lines, I just donât agree that they extend to fictional art. As long as real people arenât being made into victims then no harm is being done (usually). Sometimes art is meant to make people feel uncomfortable, if they are too sensitive and donât like it, they donât have to view it. We used to build our society around the strongest people in it. Now our society just panders to the weak, instead of making them stronger.
I feel like I have to do an "achtually" here.
CERO, the Japanese game age rating system, is the one responsible for choices like Mai's exclusion.
When it comes to stuff like cleavage and underwear being visible they can be even stricter than the ESRB.
Sheik is clearly an alterego and is referred to as male because... Duh. Why wouldn't he? It is very clearly because of the disguise, it's not "censored."
I think Jynx looks like a Gollywog. I do not think that Gollywogs are in any way offensive. I had one when I was young.
