If you get offended over a game and can't handle it, you don't need to play it and need help. I can't tell you how much "offensive" stuff comes from other countries, yet its not a big deal. I'll laugh at Sentai for literally having an American with a burger in one hand and a shotgun in another as I would a native American attacking a camp being bonked on the head.
People: Call Nintendo "racist" for not adding a "black" character (which btw is completely wrong because the is usual skin tone is clearly brown)
Me: ... ... Has anyone noticed that Minecraft Steve is CLEARLY anything but NOT a white dude... ...
I like how we completly ignore that the character chosen over Twintelle isnt even white or japanese. Meaning if Twintelle was picked, people could have said that Nintendo was being racist by not including chinese people in the game.
None of these âracistâ decisions made by Nintendo would have had enough momentum to cancel smash. In fact, I doubt they would or could have had any effects on sales.

Edit: Holy shit, I didnt really pay attention to the title and thumbnail that much but now I see the problem, the fact that the thumbnail implies that the project would've been cancelled for small grievances is textbook clickbait because he probably means "Twitter cancelled" instead but the title is intentionally misleading which could be read either way
The Diddy Kong as Dee Jay, it's because his monkey flip references Dee Jay's similar move, the Double Rolling Sobat.
That move is nothing like DiddyâsâŠ.
@@Nay089 It's the closest one
@@Nay089 Who in the male Smash roster does have a move more similar to the Double Rolling Sobat? Zero Suit Samus does have her Side Smash, but, come on, can you really see Dee Jay being portrayed by ZSS?
Either way, though, Diddy Kong does have a more light-hearted fighting style. He's really just having fun as he fights; just like Dee Jay.
Honestly, Diddy Kong as Dee Jay doesn't seem like something to get worked up over at all. Im suprised that people think that this is a really bad deed that Nintendo did.
@@sajidarshad4795 Indeed, as much as it may seem connected to the old racist comparison between African people and monkeys, I think that is only a western thing overall; at least, when it comes to the maliciousness of it.
If Japan; as Nintendo's origin, obviously; uses stereotypes of other cultures, especially if it's stereotypes that other cultures thought up in the first place, it's not out of "hatred," but simply, not knowing any better; it's akin in my mind to children who, while having been taught the concept of stereotypes, weren't actually taught to hate these people alongside the stereotypes. Thus, I feel like even the thought of it being harmful anyway is really only a western thing, as well.
No matter the case, though, is there any character in Smash other than Diddy Kong that is portrayed as being as friendly and jolly as Dee Jay? I don't think so. Not even a dark-skinned Villager is as jolly, but they obviously don't fit Dee Jay's skill in fighting at all, either.
The Min Min & Twintelle situation is the biggest joke to me. Nintendo can add who they want to the game, they shouldn't be forced to bend over backwards to please the crybaby woke crowd. Min Min was the most popular character among fans and among the creator of the game, so it makes sense to choose her.
I agree Min Min was much more popular
Min min is my main in ARMs even lol,
and also the crybabies get mad if thereâs a game other than donkey Kong, Kirby, Mario, or Zelda in a Nintendo direct.
It makes sense Twintelle uses her HAIR not her ARMS so it doesn't make sense if she was the representative for ARMS
Edit: I never expected this amount of likes
@@corran4362 Exactly. In the reveal that the next fighter was from ARMS, there was literally a graphic saying "This fighter's arms can extend!" Twintelle's arms clearly cannot extend so she should have been off the table from the start.
The Min Min & Twintelle thing is extra BS because Min Min was the only character that had enough moveset potential to actually work.
So many things
-DK is perfect for Mr. Sandman from a moveset perspective. The main thing about Mr. Sandman is that he punches like a truck. No better character in the roster to represent this. They were also probably wanting to avoid representing every punchout character with Little Mac spirits
-The feather was trying to mimic the original game, and importantly, was removed with a statement as soon as footage of it happened.
-Min Min being chosen over Twintelle is not them choosing not to include a black female character; itâs not going out of their way to choose a Smash character based on race alone.
It appears that they wanted to represent Arms as a whole game with the character, for which non-armed character would be out of the running for (Iâm guessing Mechanica was also not considered for the same reason)
Also, they simple picked the character the creator likes best and asked them to put in the game.
As for Bayonetta, the Smash Ballot never once said that any character from any ranking would definitely be in the game. They wanted survey data and we were happy to provide it but they were super non-committal with their language.
-As for the trans flag, objectively speaking, âTrans Rights Nowâ is a political statement. Itâs a call for political action, for lawmakers to do an activity. Flooding the stage builder with trans flags is also, objectively, a political action, you might even call it a small-scale political movement. Regardless of whether we agree with the political statement in question, and I personally do, itâs their right to not allow any political speech in their platform
If they didnât remove all political speech, theyâd also either have to allow the other side to have full right of political free speech (so a stage saying âno trans rightsâ would also have to be allowed to stay, for example) or theyâd be forced to take specific stances on which political stances were considered âcorrectâ and which werenât, and ban âincorrectââ politics.
Asking an intern to ban stages that are political is a tall order, but doable. Asking the same intern to choose which politics are correct and which arenât is a subjective and complex task that no one person can reasonably perform perfectly.
This should have way more likes. To add on, nobody owes us anything, including our top roster picks. I understand not liking Byleth being added to the game, but nobody is forcing you to buy the character. Itâs completely unfair to baby rage, send death threats, or try to get a game canceled because you personally didnât like an addition to something that was generous for taking your opinions in the first place.
@@nugget1631 straight facts.
Ugh. I hate repeating myself.
Two genders: Male and political.
Two races: White and political.
Two sexualities: Heterosexual and political.
Etc.
@@themetalgamer9864 Iâm not sure I fully get the point you are trying to make, but just in case let me rephrase: Calling for legislation, or calling for changing the rights of a given group, etc. is by definition a political act. Rising awareness of a call for legislation is a political action. Protesting a perceived slight by joining en-masse and replicating the original political action is a political movement.
It has exactly zero to do with the actual cause these politics champion, objectively, the actions I listed are political actions, and if political actions are not allowed on a platform, itâs normal for the actions I listed to be removed from it.
It could as easily have been âstop greenhouse gases nowâ, or âgreenhouse gases are fake news stop legislating around itâ, or âstop abortions nowâ, or âfree abortions nowâ, or âgun control nowâ or âgun control over my dead bodyâ. All of these are identical to the original âtrans rights nowâ in that they are a call for political action, for a change in legislation and often in societal values, and any reasonable moderator that is told to remove political speech would remove all of these.
In short, thereâs nothing inherently political about being LGBTQ+, black, a woman, etc. Calling for political action based on said traits (or any traits) though, is political.
Finally, someone gets it. Honestly the feather was the dumbest of them all. I get the origin of it, but like come on, itâs a FEATHER in a VIDEO GAME!
I'm more ok with Byleth in Smash and will always argue for their inclusion in Ultimate. The difference between them and Corrin has to do with the success of the games. While Fates sold well, it wasn't that well received amongst fans, so I feel like they could've done without Corrin (even though I like playing as Corrin). Three Houses has some fans that weren't pleased with the way it came, it overall pleased the majority of fans. Old fans were happy to see that it leaned away from being a "Waifu simulation," having one of the worst stories in Fire Emblem history, and having the shallowest cast in the series to something that felt like Fire Emblem, but different. Yeah, the differences between Three Houses and classic Fire Emblem were enough to deter some fans, but it was enough to keep the majority happy and bring way more fans to the series, even more than Awakening did. If Corrin wasn't in Smash I truly believe that Byleth would'nt have been such a big deal simply because it made much more sense than adding in Corrin.
I hate corrin and like byleth
@@no-xp7mx I hate Byleth.
The problem is it STILL a dating simulator.
@@maikayee246 I dont really see an issue with the ability to marry at the end of the game. It doesn't impact the story and is optional (Sothis is kinda dumb though). For the most part it feels like you learn more about every character through their supports with Byleth than with Corrin. With Corrin the marriages felt more forced where as with Byleth we get much better lead up and character development than we ever did with Corrin. There's also no visiting quarters anymore, which was weird. I think the way they incorporated relationships in Three Houses was a much better executed part of the game than before and I saw no issues with it for the most part (I'm looking at you there Sothis).
@@maikayee246 Kind of not really. You see, you're missing the point, when you obviously don't know the clear difference between 3 Houses, and Fates, on why one is a clear dating simulator. The problem is that Fates not only has you hooking up multiple characters with each other, but for silly reasons to let them have kids, and their kids grows up immediately and becomes playable during the game as well.
Hell, Awakening didn't start that at all, and it was Genealogy of the Holy War where it all began with the "dating simulator". Just that Awakening and Genealogy had their own, and obviously better ways of implementing it to the story, rather than "just because" like Fates did. Which is where and why people drew the line. 3 Houses falls in line with most of the older Fire Emblem games, in that the main character will end up going out with the one who they have the most support with (minus Marth obviously). Like 7, the first one we got for the west, where Eliwood could marry just about any girl he has the most support with, only at the end of the game. Just more streamlined, and easier than waiting several hundred turns with the units close to one another, during battle.
The Min-Min vs Twintelle "race issue" is probably one of the biggest loads of bullshit I've heard in awhile

Its like playing "triggered anti-racism troll" is easier and more effective than trying to get K.Rool in elite smash.
Min min can kick and actually uses her arms, thatâs why, as min min can kick she has a more diverse move set and represents arms but also herself while twintell uses her hair which doesnât represent arms

No there isnt any racism, people are looking way too deeply into this shit. The game and watch thing I can get, but fuck, everything else is a massive stretch
Yeah I donât understand how people can mistake the absence of someone for the presence of bigotry. Like yeah I agree more representation is important but thatâs more on the gaming industry as a whole. Smash doesnât make OCs. Itâs like going to Ireland and calling everyone racist for it being too white.
The dumb thing with people wanting twintelle is that sheâs not really a good pick to represent ARMS. While coming from arms, her focus is on her hair which is fine when most of the roster is already fulfilling the requirements, but if you want to represent a game with one character, picking the character whose main attribute is completely contradictory to the franchise theyâre coming from is stupid. Itâs like if super mario was a new ip smash and instead of adding mario, they added the goomba.
I remembered seeing it go down, and I can say from own perspective, nobody was ever actually upset. It was more of people saying, "After the stuff with Game & Watch Native feather, and the spirits incident, it would have been good to have a dark skinned female character in Smash.". Or at worst, "Do you think them turning down Twintelle over Min Min has anything to do with race?". I donât think that Nintendo did anything âwrongâ in this video. There may have been some widely disagreed upon things, but nothing was outright wrong.
The feather is the only thing actually wrong. It was not done with ill intent as they wanted to just emulate the original game, and I doubt Native American and indigenous history is talked about very much in Japan, as opposed to the americas, but itâs still definitely wrong. @@thatblueghost2296 Yeah, I don't think that the higher ups at Nintendo were like "yeah let's discriminate against the native Americans".

And Nintendo is an entertainement company ! They're not here to let people claim rights for gays, or death for jews, or everything inbetween. Thats not their place and smash is definitely NOT the support to spread those ideas !
The current problem with people from the US is that, because THEY have a problematic past with different cultures, they start to see racism even in *japanese* products made by a country who doesnt even share the same culture they developped toward whats racist and whats not !
And Nintendo is not the only case. Just look at the "Mr Popo (from DBZ) case". Its the same thing we get with the pokémon Jinx : ok in japan, racist in the US, so the US concider japan racist even if THEY (the US) were the one who made it a racist thing in their territory.
Maybe the US should just stop judging japan like they're just as bad as themself and they would see who's really to blame.

@@mirzapramudya1580 the Reason for fate's sloppy story, is because the writers where trying to achieve too much with not enough time. Intelligents Systems had an idea for Fate to have three stories to appeal to everyone, but they realized that they didn't have enough writers. So they hired an outside writer, Shin Kibayashi was that writer. Nintendo wanted Shin to write the outline for each pathway, what happened instead is that Shin wrote 500 pages for each pathway. Nintendo knew this was too long so they cut the story into pieces without the writers permission and the fact the Nintendo demanded Fates come on the Fire Emblem Anniversary only made things worse. The people that actually participated in these controversies lead the most comfortable lives ever.
The people who whine the loudest are the ones with the least perspective on how good they really have it. Egocentrism is tricky like that. It's allowed to thrive because we're comfortable.
Exactly. People who actually have to deal with real problems like poverty, lack of education, unsafe neighborhoods and homes, and the like don't have time to care about frivolous things like the race of characters in a silly fighting game or whether you can put a trans flag on a custom stage. These people are content to run their mouths about these little problems while children starve, women are beaten, and men are murdered, sometimes just a few neighborhoods away.
The Byleth thing was stupid. Yes FE is overrepresented. But Byleth plays super different and that is what matters no?
Sakurai said the uniqueness and how fun the character is what matters most. Plus, Nintendo get the final say on who makes it in anyway. Why not choose the protagonist of the best selling game in the franchise?
Plus at this point, fire emblem makes sense since three houses sold really good. Even if byleth wasn't the last dlc for season 1, he probably would've gotten in due to three house success
Even if I'm mad about Byleth, I won't deny that their moveset is very fun and very unique
@@zipline3068
Because they've literally been doing that since Robin after ever game from then on (besides the ass Gaiden remake) becomes the "best-selling game in the franchise". And that's on top of the overrepresentation. There's no excuse for some niche, formerly JP exclusive series that almost died and thinks 2M to 3M sales is an achievement should be overrepping Zelda a series with a super iconic game in the industry that sold over 7M in its time and recently had that number obliterated with GotY-winning BotW's 20M or so.
The reason is in Japan, RPGs are everything to them the same way Shooters are popular in the west. It's just Nintendo finds it easier to put in more Fire Emblem characters than to use Monster Hunter, Golden Sun, Yu-Gi-oh, or Tales of.
Iâll have to criticize this video on the racial controversy section. The whole issue of race representations is very unlikely to be intentional. People on the internet, especially in the US, love to overblown political issues in video games, and this is a game from a country that doesnât focus on the same politics. Let alone are knowledgeable about any of these issues to treat them how we do.
Iâll also add on that Elma and Iris are ambiguously dark skinned and Shantae, being a genie, is more Middle Eastern than black.
That's what I hate about some of the western Twitter users. They get too involved in topics they really have little to no jurisdiction over.
A lot of these controversies kinda baffle me, I do agree that things like the game and watch one should have been changed and it did, but the Min Min and TwinTale debate is kinda childish, Min Min won out because she was not only the most popular but better represented arms as a whole
There was no Min Min and Twintelle debate. It was just people bringing up that they would have liked Twintelle for the representation of black females in smash, or at worst, wondering if there was any possibility of race playing a part in choosing Min Min over her. It only blew up, and I use that term very lightly, because those ignorant anti-woke type people got angry over nothing and started throwing around allegations that the smash community was calling Nintendo racist. It was a whole lot of nothing from bitter and ignorant people.
@@cometthecarrier6304 No there were people genuinely upset that Min Min got picked over Twintelle because of the BLM movement in the US
Which was doomed to fail because these decisions are made in advanced. They weren't going to change it to Twintelle just because something going on in the US

Don't forget about irrationally dumb.
Basically Twitter stupidity in smash
But and the casa of suspicious Black villager

I get the rest, but the people that think MinMin was chosen because of racism need to grow up a bit. That's ridiculous and a huge reach.
Honestly the people complaining about the spirit choices are the REAL racists for even thinking about the comparisons in the first place. I doubt that was even on the mind of anyone working in Sakurai's team.
On god - From a Black Person
When I first saw Sandman I jokingly said âOof. That doesnât look goodâ but didnât really think too much of it after that. Just something that looks bad out of context. But sadly context doesnât matter to a lot of people.
It really reminds me of back in 2016 when some people suddenly decided Waluigi is antisemitic. Why? Because he's greedy and sneaky and has a long prominent nose.
And they called NINTENDO the bigots over that.
And it got to the point where Nintendo had to stop the madness by coming out and saying Waluigi isn't circumcized and therefore could not be Jewish. We can now picture what Waluigi's dick looks like, whether we want to or not, because people retroactively throwing a fit on the internet forced Nintendo's hand.
People are going directly to racism and not the fact that the spirits make sense but the cat could have been Isabelle and Min min has a more diverse move set than twintelle but also actually punches
I remember hearing about Smash Ultimate before the game's launch, got a school shut down due to the staff misinterpreting the Smash Emblem as something dangerous
I really enjoyed this video but my main problem with most of these arguments is the assumption of negative intent. At the end of the day Sakurai and the team at Sora limited have no practical reason to be racist (coming from a person of color), this passion should be focused more on new games, its not smash's place to add a person of color just to add one, and it would be done disenguineously. đ€·đŸââïž
Yeah this! I was gonna comment this myself, but yeah, even the fact that thereâs an assumption of malintent is just ugh
6:05 I'm still so upset they removed the bit on f-smash, and I'm native american
Also for the Slippi situation, the emulator actually had the wii common key, which is a decryption key used to decrpyt files to run games.
Honestly, Nintendo really has a love-hate relationship with a large part of it's fanbase, always has.
The big "N" has always had a "my way or the highway" attitude for a lot of things, partly because that's what's kept them in business for decades, or at least that's what they think.
The matter of Min Min makes sense in full context, since not only is Min Min one of, if not the most popular character from Arms, you also have to keep in mind that Nintendo is a Japanese owned, and based company, so it's only natural they prioritize characters that would appeal most to their home market, the Diddy and Donkey Kong are for obvious reasons, more difficult to explain, but to put it bluntly, Japan as a country sort of has a reputation of being less than educated about foreigners, especially those with drastically different cultures and skin color. Not to say that it's malicious, but it is definitely ignorance and controversies like this are common among Japanese media depicting foreigners, because quite frankly, the average Japanese person in a lot of places just plain hasn't seen many foreigners, and when they do meet foreigners, Japan has some of the thickest cultural barriers towards people from the west.
Honestly, the game and watch detail is just weird, possibly Nintendo trying to pay tribute to the older version out of misguided nostalgia? I don't really understand the logic behind that one. It's not likely to be intentionally racist in any way as it is just a strange design choice, after all, Nintendo being a Japanese business quite literally has no steak in the history of Native Americans, again, likely ignorance, but not malice.
The Trans thing is likely something to do with Japan's highly conservative culture, and as such, Nintendo was trying to avoid upsetting people who may see those levels in their native country, oddly, making things more political by saying you don't want your game to be political, ironic.
And of course, Nintendo has always been on a crusade against emulation and fan made content for ages, and likely also will be for ages. Nintendo consoles are always the first consoles to be emulated for every single generation, there's actually already some functional Switch and WiiU emulators, so to some degree, it makes sense why Nintendo is always trying to bury emulators as much as possible, even overseas, especially when you realize that game emulation is even more legally dubious in Japan, and I think possibly even outright illegal.
The vast majority of controvery you'll see about Nintendo, will be due to it still functioning as a Japan-based company, rather than thinking more internationally.
Unfortunate, but that's how it is, and how it will be for the foreseeable future until either Japan has a lasting cultural shift, or Nintendo does.
I still think any of the controversies about Nintendo *adding in their own first-party characters* are dumb as hell.
Exactly this. Smash was Nintendo only crossover, first and foremost. It wasn't always about "video game's history", and the representation overall, otherwise Pacman and Duckhunt Dog would have been in since the very first game.
@@byronlyons3548 Well Duck Hunt is a first-party Nintendo game, but I get your point. I've had people unironically say that Smash isn't about Nintendo anymore. Hell, there was one dude who gave this revisionist history BS claiming that Smash stopped being about Nintendo with Brawl because it introduced some third-parties lol
The entire "controversy" is just smash fans whining about everything possible and forgetting that it's a NINTENDO game. But I agree, it's idiotic as hell when people are legitimately angry over Nintendo characters getting into a Nintendo+3rd party crossover game
A lot of people forgets about how hard it can be to obtain the rights to include characters by 3rd party companies into a game
8:25 Yup, because with Twitter everything has to be about race, it's not like the character lost due to the popularity contest or because the developer of Arms asked Sakurai to put Min Min in the game. It's because she's black.
When it comes to Byleth, it's kind of interesting. There weren't any characters that I was wanting from either fighters pass except a second Xenoblade rep (Be it Elma or Rex/Pyra/Mythra) I was just in it for the hype and for seeing the roster grow. I just wanted the new characters; I didn't really care who it was! ...But even I as a guy who did not care that much felt the sting of disappointment with Byleth. Fire Emblem really is overrepresented in my opinion... However! I have since gotten over it because Byleth IS fun to play, has good music, and is a much more unique character than Chrom or Lucina.
And I did get my Pyra/Mythra, so who cares?
In the end that is all that matters, right?

I stand by the opinion Mr Sandman should've been added to diversify Smash's roster. Like, I get why they choose Donkey Kong to represent him (DK is literally the secret final boss to Sandman's final boss), but Sandman represents Mike f***in Tyson! He's representing one of the most iconic moments in Nintendo history, he's a heavyweight, he'd be perfect to compliment Little Mac with heavier and relatively faster special moves that break things easier but slower neutrals. The reason why Mac doesn't get another rep is unfortunately the same reason Falcon will never get another...
In my opinion it's really dumb how people got mad over DK being used in the Mr Sandman spirit fight. Sure they could've used Mac but when you take a moment to look at it Mac and Sandman are essentially opposites, Mac is a lightweight and, well is little while Sandman is a heavyweight and is much taller. DK on the other hand, is also a heavyweight and is a larger frame than Mac
We shouldn't be adding characters just to diversify the roster, then you get things like the New Warriors. Also another fighter like mac would suck
@@canned3880 When I said "diversify," was your first and only thought "race"? I said diversify because that is an applicable word for wanting another type of boxer. I'm not here to defend (New) New Warriors and I hope no one ever is.

He's a significant stepping stone in Nintendo history that I'd like to see get fleshed out, imo.
@@chrismaystar3014 I never said it was about race, and idk why you would think I was saying that when the punch out rep we already has is pretty different from the smash demographic. @@SonicTheCutehog Facts.
They wanted Twintelle apparently and made up the excuse that their aren't any Characters of color or diversity. Some BS if you ask me.
The spirits are just people reading into it. DK is Sandman because of Sandman's overhead strikes, much like many of DK's attacks. Deejay is a breakdancing kickboxer, he's all about stylish agile movements and kicks. Look at Diddy's Side B and Dash attacks. Tac is the least defendable, but it's probably just because of the black hair. Especially since his hairstyle looks a little like Tac's head covering. I don't think skin tone ever played a part in it, I think they chose that Villager alt just because it was the only one with Black hair and the hairstyle was similar to the mask
Edit: Looking back at it, I guess I remembered Villager's hair color wrong for that alt, it's about the same as the other hair colors. So I really don't have any idea besides hair style for Tac being that villager color, and even then the other alt with that hairstyle fits just as well. That one I can see getting a little backlash because there's seemingly no reason. I don't think it's intentional, but that is a bad looking coincidence
It seems you never got the âmonkey memoâ. Youâre just ignorant to understand the racial context those comparisons entail
@@Nay089 Pal, I'm well aware of why people think it's racist, but I'm saying that people are looking at this at face value. Donkey Kong is very similar to Sandman in terms of fighting style. Diddy Kong uses some moves that Dee Jay uses. And Tac has a bag to store things just like Villager. People shouldn't just assume it's a race thing when there's reasons each spirit battle is the way it is, they're very well thought out
As for the Tac thing, I think it was because that alt of Villager specifically, is probably because it's the only one with the most dark colored clothes that any one of them has. To kind of emulate the ninja/bandit clothes thing as close as possible to Tac. And Tac clearly isn't black under their clothes, as we see with their hands and part of their face showing. So skin color is an afterthought.
@@byronlyons3548 also the skin colour was changed from the smash 4 version of the alt, and in some early demos was still white, so chances are they made the spirit before the change
I think the use INCENOROAR Is much better for TAC. Both are cats

Cuz uh, they use 4 different weapons in there play style, if it was monster hunter character instead would people call their moveset not overly unique in some parallel universe.
Iâd love to discuss this.
Mr sandman for donkey Kong fits because they both hit REAL FUCKING HARD
Thereâs kind of a mix here between just unpopular choices (broken characters and choosing byleth), hilariously stupid accusations of bigotry (not choosing twintelle, spirit choices, etc), the emulator stuff, which I think is dumb but theyâre within their rights to do it, and then of course actual the actual crimes committed by members of the community.
Side note about sandman: that fight instills the fear of god in me every time I try it, and itâs because of DK. Little mac is a little dude, whereas donkey Kong is a hulking bruiser like sandman. Itâs pretty obvious he was chosen because of the size of the fighter, since little macâs whole thing is heâs a smol boi.
Probably that and almost every other PunchOut spirit besides Hippo and Tiger used Little Mac.
It seems more likely that the racism was accidental, given that Japan is still fairly isolated from the rest of the world. I think they tried to go with what they thought made the most sense, and genuinely didn't realise the connotations.

Actually, Byleth is probably one of the most diverse Fire Emblem characters moveset wise. When you sit down and look at their moves, they essentially boil down to sword, axe, lance, and bow attacks. All of which are weapons used in Fire Emblem, and the latter 3 haven't been implemented to a FE moveset yet. Even if they still use a sword in their moveset, it's actually a very unique sword, as it can extend for more range (like Ivy's sword from Soul Calibur) and a majority of the moves it's used for (up tilt, forward tilt and dash attack being exceptions) show off the sword/whip/grappling hook combo that really shows how unique of a fighter Byleth is. For those of you who don't believe me and still hate Byleth because they're still another Fire Emblem character, I used to have the same opinion, but I changed my mind when I realized she technically isn't just a sword fighter, but rather a well-rounded fighter.

And they got censored too. Mythra was even censored BEFORE she became a fighter since she was a Spirit prior.
@@buttdick I don't know if I'm just going crazy, but I think Pyra and Mythra were nerfed.
This was a quite interesting video, and I didnât know about some of this. However, I must the thumbnail is one of the worst clickbait thumbnails I've ever seen. In the rare chance that you see this Siiroth, I'd recommend changing it and give people a better impression of your videos, because theyâre better than that.
Smash Bros does have this weird tendency to act as an advertising platform for Fire Emblem. Roy was put in Melee to promote Binding Blade before that even came out, Ike was put in Brawl to promote Radiant Dawn, the newest release at the time, Corrin was added to Sm4sh to promote Fates before that even came out, and Byleth was added to Ultimate to promote Three Houses, which was still a relatively recent release at the time.
No other series really gets that sort of treatment from Smash Bros.
They always make sure to include the latest Pokémon game too. Greninja and Incineroar were both chosen for Smash ahead of time when their games were still in the works.
And it's not just to advertise the new game. It's also to cash in on the new games' current popularity and relevance. These are the games people are playing right now, and the characters they'll be excited to see in Smash. It's for both reasons together.
Reminder: Roy is the ULTIMATE shill pick. He was added into smash before his game even came out. The dude would literally become an original smash character if his game got canceled, some people believe that being in melee gives him the right to be grandfathered as a permanent member forever. I could see Ike getting chosen to stay before Roy. At least Ikeâs games were localized despite not doing well.
@@Dan_- Japans really Loves RPG's so much.
I dunno about Ike, since he has his Path of Radiance design in Brawl, and didn't appear in his Radiant Dawn design until Sm4sh.
@Maydeler
He wasn't. He was put in because he was originally planned for Smash 64 like Bowser and Peach were and was going to be Japanese version exclusive until the last minute.
I guess Iâm the only living human being left that is happy that Min Min was added.
Nintendoâs worst mistake is not adding Waluigi to smash
18:56 they do, you just have bad internet
Nintendo taking down trans rights stages was one of the most based things they have ever done
And you are based for having a mokou pfp
i think what people missed by the twintelle minmin thing is that there was some competition worldwide between every ARMS character, and Min Min won, with Ninjara coming in a very close. the producer of ARMS requested the winner of said competition, that being Min Min
gotta love how kirby doesnât change at 17:34
Min Min wasn't "awful", she was relatively strong if you knew how to space well with her. It says a lot about how "awful" she was if Nintendo had to go out of their way to nerf her twice because her lasers were too good.
Ok, AM2R has an excuse for being shut down, even though its not a good one
Samus Returns was in the works
Yeah for sure, just used it as an example bc before that was announced ppl went crazy
Any project using unauthorized copyrighted material is at risk of being shut down at any moment.
@@Siiroth I mean, isn't it?
It would technically distract people from Nintendo's own offical work, because most would just believe there's no way "dumb fucking Nintendo" could ever make the game as good as these guys, or just ignore it all together because they there's already alternative that's free, and will never have a price tag...
It's basically asking for Nintendo to get fucked.
There is literally no thing that couldnât make Twitter go bongos
9:37 I remember hearing about a tournament with all of the arms fighter. Where the best player of each fighter played. And min min won it. And the rewards was something for the player and the fighter was going to get something. And i think that something was them joining SSBU
Fire Emblem was niche prior to Awakening. Were it not for the success of Awakening, and how it reinvigorated Fire Emblem, the franchise wouldnât have as many reps in Smash Ultimate. Fire Emblem Heroes has in the past been Nintendoâs most successful mobile game. In terms sales rate, it seems like Fire Emblem is on track of joining the ranks of Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, and PokĂ©mon; so is Animal Crossing.
AC is more undeserving of glamour than FE is. The amount of people that play it is absolutely insane, Including every random dad and mom on the planet. And women. ESPECIALLY WOMEN. Doesn't matter how much of a non-gamer a female is, in this day and age, if she's a woman, she plays Animal Crossing. It's the stupidest shit ever.
@@maskedmarioguy2524 Moveset has been an issue for Animal Crossing. Besides, Animal Crossing is a social game, and it has specific rules, such as the rules of the ESRB rating E for Everyone. My sister-in-law plays it. Fire Emblem Three Houses is the best selling installment of the Fire Emblem series.
@@maskedmarioguy2524 hey quick question, when was the last time a women outside of your immediate family chose to talk to you?
Off topic but I hope Advance Wars Reboot Camp does well enough and having itâs Awakening Moment.

Yeah I totally agree when I think of Nintendo, I think Mario, Zelda PokĂ©mon, Donkey Kong and even Kirby. Fire Emblem never crosses my mind, people only really bring it up because of Smash, and even though it's a nintendo game, it's nowhere near as big as the series Iâve listed. Heck even Kirby, Splatoon, Animal Crossing and DK come to mind.
10:54 Yeah okay this was really stupid drama ngl.
Fun fact: I posted a MAGA stage once after the incident to test whether or not Nintendo was biased towards political statements or not, and it got taken down as I expected.
Whether you feel like it was a good cause or not is irrelevant because Nintendo games are just not the place for these real world propagandas, of course some things do slip between the radar here and there but with sales of over 8 million players posting things, it's impossible to get everything, and usually the things they do catch, well 99% of the time they do deserve to get taken down, and not for personal reasons.
Twitter kids just take everything personally, even when it's clear that it was never meant to be in the first place.
Yeah, people are way too worked up over liking the same gender.
Being trans is not political though, like how being a straight man isnât political. MAGA is.
@@kazzfuchsia1073 Discussing the rights of someone is by definition political, as politics need to change to enforce these rights. Therefore, discussing trans rights is discussing politics, just like how discussing women rights, men rights, animal rights etc. would be political.
@@graciealvarez2568 that isnât politics. Peoples lives shouldnât be political, it should be common sense. But idiots make it be.
@@kazzfuchsia1073 Like I said, it is by definition political. Wether it should be that way or not is another story.
Two potential problems if they chose twintelle that might have happened is they might have to add a hit box for her hair making her easier to hit and they might hit higher than the other characters making it harder to hit characters like pichu and pikachu
Okay, the Mr Sandman one is justifiable. Sandman and Donkey Kong both hit like trucks, and, as you said, Donkey Kong was a secret boss at the end of Punch-Out Wii. Putting on the level of the Game and Watch thing is a bit much, that was straight up racist, and it had to be changed, really.
I personally wanted the ARMS representative to be like Hero, with Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Min Min and either Twintelle or Ninjara being the four costumes.
What's odd is that, in the UK's wing of social media at least, the complaints weren't about Byleth, but about Steve. For MONTHS people were outraged that "The stupid square man from the kid's game" got in.
