DID YOU KNOW I HAVE A DEDICATED MOVIE AND TV SHOW REACTION CHANNEL? www.youtube.com/@MRLBOYDMOVIEREVIEWS
I'm late to the party, but I just found your channel (of course I subscribed). You said that you wanted to hear more Chris Stapleton. If you have not heard "Whiskey and You" I highly recommend the song 🫶
To your comment to this song listen at Omar Cunningham Sangggg this song in a Blues style you will Loveeee it moreee
“Cold”, “I was wrong” his version of the “Star spangled Banner” at the super Super Bowl. The list goes on and on!! Just google him and his songs. “Love me anyway” and “just say i’m sorry” both done with Pink. The man is a beast vocally, lyrically, musically….. talented all around. His wife also is an amazing vocalist and usually sings with him but wasn’t here for this performance.
I’ll check it out. Love your channels so far.❤
I know that Chris Stapleton is technically a country artist, but this is some of the best blues I've ever heard.
Absolutely !!
Fun Fact: He actually has stage fright so a lot of times you see him looking and singing to his wife cause when he does it's like she's the only one in the room and it helps him get thru the performance.
His wife has an amazing voice and sings with him all the time.
@@shannonleigh72 absolutely! Morgan is phenomenal performer. I love the version of You are my sunshine she did.
❣
Awe..theres a song idea right there.looking at the woman he loves makes the world disappear!...❤
Oh man that almost made me cry.
It’s amazing that he’s written “thousands” of songs before he figured out he could sing. Thank you to his wife 💙
That's is so true
It's not his song. It was made by the racist David Allan Coe.
If you're gonna try and correct folks at least do your homework. It was recorded by DAC but written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. btw they didn't even say Chris wrote this song, they said he wrote thousands of songs before singing. Do a little reading comprehension practice.
@@davidwilks4123
Best band member introduction I've ever heard. Recognizing each one while still being entertaining. TENNESSEE WHISKEY best cover anywhere!
Yeah, I'm sure he's not the first to do it but singing about everyone's story instead of just yelling "give it up for my drummer John Doe" made it so much more fun
I was going to type this exact comment... well said friend!! I imagine, if I were playing live, that's the way I'd want the lead singer to appreciate my music!
Not a cover bro
@@janinekaretai4306IMO Chris Stapleton is the best version of this song IT IS A COVER. The song has two previously released versions by David Allen Coe and George Jones. None can hold a candle to Chris Stapleton version.
George J were the best
The gentleman's face reviewing this song looked like his soul had been touched and joy was the outcome. Listening to Chris Stapleton sing this song is like hearing country and the blues making slow sweet love all night long!
You know this! That's exactly how a song should make one feel! Ayeeee❤️🎶🎧🤸
Oh my. I had the exact experience. Nevet heard this version and literally brought tears to my eyes. Soulful and what true talent sounds like
Love your reaction to this! Pure joy on your face! ❤️
When it comes to Chris Stapleton, you just buy all the albums, start with track #1 and let it play. He doesn’t have any “filler” tracks.
So true! Dosent matter what kind of mood I'm in I can listen to Chris anytime!
You need to start with the Steel Drivers first.
facts
Exactly Shane Cook.
This guy gets it.
Man, Chris live...music and lyrics with no boundaries, an artist with no peer, and an audience that understands his genius...Priceless and unparalleled..
It doesn't matter how many times I hear this song goosebumps will appear. He is such a breath of fresh freaking air. My parents named me after Amanda by Waylon Jennings and when Chris and his equally awesome wife sang it at the Grand Ole Opry. My freaking dad cried, Mr. Hardcore, Slip never shows Marine who fought in two wars. He cried. He's just that freaking good, it tugs at the heartstrings.
💯
I'm in the same boat as your dad.
Semper Fi!!
I love when I can feel the music that's good music
I'm a J Geils Band & AC DC type person, but DAYuuuum, I like Chris Stapleton for some reason
You can literally throw a dart at his catalog and not be disappointed. A true talent.
Go look up his old bluegrass group called The Steeldrivers, you won’t be disappointed and you’ll get a couple Chris Stapleton albums you didn’t know existed!
@@jonkeau5155 the jompson brothers is another of his little know bands
He also used to be the lead singer of a band called the Steeldrivers, and yeah same sentiment applies
You are sooooo right!
This is definitely not the original.
But it is the best rendition ever
You should listen to a version with his wife singing harmony. She could literally keep up with every run he does. And he never takes his eyes off of her.
I worked for Morgane and Chris and can agree from hearing them a cappella around a campfire.
IT's more like she never takes her eyes off of him
Her backup vocals in "nothing else matters" is awesome!
Absolutely!
You can see and hear his live and respectfor her when she is on stage with him.
I could watch this over and over~ his voice is mesmerizing to me, he is a story teller with a gift. I wish a knew of him sooner. I first heard him in 2017 I believe. Such a amazing soul and talent. 👏👏👏
You know the blues snatched up your soul when your face wrinkles up like you smell something funky and you can't help nod your head nah nah to the beat 🤣❤️🎶
One of those guys that can sing the dictionary and make it sound fantastic
Absolutely 😍
Being a black man and from Louisiana it truly bring peace to my heart hearing him sing mixing country blues and all the other symphony’s he puts in is just soothing bless up
Amen from Louisiana!
True 2 the YAS👍🏼
225! out in the sticks, everyone talks about the song being a cover, but the music is also a cover Etta James "I'd rather go blind". "Country" music is just folk and bluegrass mixed with rhythm and blues. Rock came from blues guitar too, any SRV fan can draw a straight line between the two.
It's the bluesy jazz/ country mix that is sooooo catchy. Mix that run Stapleton's voice you get this... People call him a hack or just a cover man but they don't realize Chris wrote a lot of songs that went #1
I'm a white woman from California and I feel exactly the same way! LOVE Louisiana btw...Music "The Universal Language"
This version of Tennessee Whiskey is the best version. Chris Stapleton has made this song his very own. Chris can sing a freaking phone book & it would be awesome. Chris Stapleton is phenomenal. Morganne Stapleton, the wife of Chris, usually sings backup vocals for him. She is equally talented, just like her husband. They sing beautifully together.
Yeah it’s nearly unrecognizable from the 1980’s version.
He has a beautiful voice. This song can go either Way country or Rhythm and blues, I wish Al Green was still alive I would've love to hear them sing together their voice is very similar
Chris has written many famous songs for others !! He’s amazing!!
Chris Stapleton: "I was wrong", "Death Row", "Sometimes I Cry", "Midnight Train to Memphis", "Hard Livin", and his cover of "Its a Mans World"
All these... Yessir
Also, "Starting Over", "Cold" and "Nobody to Blame"
If it hadn’t been for love is amazing also. Back in his Steeldrivers days.
Have to listen to "Fire Away"
@@robncasey1216 thats a good song too!
Chris Stapleton is the bluesiest man I've heard in years. I can listen to him sing all day.
check out Teskey Bros. ...They are Aussies ! Pain & Misery and i get up.
Yes he is. Every time I hear this song with him signing it, I turn up the volume.
You read my mind. I really don't follow country music and thought after hearing his version of this song that he sounds much more like a blues singer than a country artist.
This guy is amazing. The star spangled banner at the Super Bowl made me a fan. This guy is out of this world.
Absolutely
There is no mistakes about it . Chris Stapleton is a gift to country music and has a one-of-a-kind voice . He's the real deal . Love his sound and and his ability to put it all together . He's a great artist no doubt 🤔 👍
"Fire Away" by Chris Stapleton is possibly his most emotionally gut wrenching track
I can’t watch that video. It’s too much. Such a good song though 🖤
I agree, but please watch the video that goes along with it.
Yes! Fire away 100% and the video 100%
@@marcatkinson4149 Oh yes, he definitely needs to watch the video! I was just saying for me.
Fire Away is one of those songs you have to listen too first without the video to hear the lyrics. Because the visual story in the music video completely pulls you away from what is being said.
Written originally by Dean Dillion for David Allen Coe. However, George Jones recorded a later rendition of the song. Dillion is most notably associated with writing a ton of songs for George Strait throughout his illustrious career. Writers need to get their flowers too!
I dabble in songwriting. I love Dean Dillon's stuff. ♡
Dillon fist offered the song to George Strait, but Strait passed on the song. So it was then offered to David Allen Coe. 🙂
This arrangement is so much better then the original. Can’t stand No Show Jones version.
sorry man, all Dean did was write these lyrics, the music and the entire arrangement is taken from "i'd Rather Go Blind" by Etta James. Super talented guy, but let's be honest the soul and heart of it is the work of the black writers and producers at Chess Records and the singing talent of Etta. (Edit, brainfart on this one, this album was recorded at Fame with Rick Hall, so my apologies to the Swampers and the amazing talent they possessed and still possess.)
Like the way you phrased that, sir.
Stapleton is true country blues. You can tell he isn’t just singing words, he feels them.
When he sings you feel it in your chest. Natural talent. 🙌🏾
Chris is from my home town and has been writing for other artists for years. They finally talked him into singing his own music because his voice as we all know is phenomenal! He is a super humble guy and fame has not changed him AT ALL! We are all so proud of him! Go Chris go!
when you hear some one say "he would sound great singing the phonebook" Chris Stapleton actually proves it in this video.
OMG!!! LOVE his voice, absolutely amazing!!! Every time I hear him, WOW!!
This guy is a Kentucky native and is one of the best to ever come out of my home state of Kentucky. He has won all kinds of country music awards and has a great selection of music.Check out all of his music you won't be disappointed.
My dude, every single Chris Stapleton song is fire.
Chris knew his band and recognized them on stage, a rarity in this age.
If you ever have the opportunity to see him live, I 1,000,000 % recommend. Hands down best concert ever ❤
Chris Stapleton can even make name introductions sound smooth!! 😆 The man has a voice, no doubt! I’m gonna have to make a live show of his.
Sho,' you right!
The "original" version of Tennessee Whiskey was recorded by David Allen Coe in 1981. However, George Jones made it huge hit 2 years later in 1983. Neither one of the first 2 recordings can touch Chris' version/arrangement of the song. He made it his own.
Thank you for speaking the truth
Chris actually married the lyrics of Tennessee Whiskey to the tune/arrangement of Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind." It's a perfect blend of the 2 songs.
Yes he did but thank you for not knowing original
george had the best version
@@kylermccarty4881 I agree George Jones version is my favorite..... but I also dig Chris's version and David Allen
Chris didn't sing the original he just made it INFAMOUS and a LEGEND.
David Allan Coe did it first. Then George Jones did it and it got to number 2 on the US charts. They are very different from the Chris Stapleton version.
He didn’t write this song, but he made his cover the version everyone covers forever after. David Allen Cole was the first to cover, and record, the original, and the great George Jones also covered it, among many others. It’s an old country song that Chris poured a lot of soul and blues into.
I didn't know that DAC did it first. I always thought George Jones was the original.
"Tennessee Whiskey" may not have been written by Chris Stapleton, but once he recorded it and put his stamp on it, it became HIS song, of that there is no doubt.
Is it inspired by Etta james Id rather go blind? Sounds to me like David Allen Cole had some super inspiration
Nothing is like hearing Chris sing it. It is truly soul lifting!
His cover of James Brown's This Is A Man's World is so totally worth it! Swear to God the man sounds like he belongs on the old Stax label.
Chris is a rare talent, reaches right into your soul and gives it a good shake,
Voice, emotion, hes simply fantastic
He does what my dad would say is put his foot in it. That voice could melt butter it's so hot.
Very well said. His music is so real. Love the soulful sounds and enjoy when he and his wife sing together.
Amen! This man can SANG!! He put his foot in this one....my God!
Chris Stapleton is a walking testimony. Lord Jesus, this man can SANNNNNGGG.
TRUE THAT THIS MAN CAN SANGGG
Yes indeed !!!!!
A RARE talent. And he NEVER misses on his runs. Amazing.
My first time hearing original.....OUTSTANDING! I would go see him in concert. 💖
"Sometimes I Cry" at the Bing series. You won't be disappointed. He wrote songs for many artists and never sang on his own. His wife Morgane convinced him to start singing and the rest is history. The woman singing with him in many videos is Morgane. he often looks to her when he's singing. He had epic stage fright.
YeS ! SOMETIMES I CRY AT THE BING!! This is such a classic
YES! Oh! And “I Was Wrong.” 😩🙌🏼 I’m not a country music listener but my ears perk up when he comes on. He’s so freakin talented.
@@carihenson8019 I 100% agree with this entire statement
This!!!!!!!!!
Must watch this one it's one of my favorites
George Jones and David Alan Coe did it similarly. Chris Stapleton changed the entire presentation and made it new again. Very powerful and very talented.
Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction.
No he just song it like the original song was sung. 1968 I'd rather go blind from ETTA JAMES the QUEEN of blues. He just you his lyrics check ✔ it out czcams.com/video/u9sq3ME0JHQ/video.html
Farm Aid was started by Willy Nelso, yes. But George Jones sang it bestt.
Absolutely made his own
Im more partial to the original that was recorded by David Allen Coe.
DAC WROTE IT
He is so awesome. Hearing him sing brings me to tears. I absolutely LOVE his voice.
This song makes me overwhelming happy to the point of tears. The world needs to hear this man’s voice. He just sounds like love.
This man, Chris Stapleton, can sing with ANYONE…When I tell you he is the type of voice that you want to hear at the bar, drinking whiskey, smoking a cigarette, and contemplating life! He is so versatile. He’s been in the music industry for years as a song writer. I’d pay him to sing the yellow pages in all genres…Keep bringing those songs forward Chris…you’ve got a fan right here for LIFE!
OMGGGGGGG
TRUE TO THIS ABOVE WOW..

He is the only modern singer I've heard with old country soul like a George Strait or George Jones.

I absolutely love his music. He did a great job singing this with Justin Timberlake at one of the award shows as well.

Stapleton is the most uniquely gifted vocalist of my considerable lifetime.
When my husband first heard Chris Stapleton on Seris Radio after we had went out and ate one weekend years ago. He said this guy is gonna go far. My husband died 3 1/2 years old. He didn’t really get to see all the many great accomplishments Chris has made. Every time I hear Chris on the radio, it brings me bad to that night with my husband. I love and miss my husband, Trey.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching your face when Chris started singing! My grown boys introduced me to Chris Stapleton, specifically to his work with The Steeldrivers. His harmony with his wife is simply amazing! The first song of theirs I heard was "Sticks That Made Thunder"--and I literally cried. My youngest son does a credible job singing Chris' music, but we all, the entire family, sing along, it's that soul-catching. Thank you for reviewing Mr. Stapleton's music!
Just go find all his live performances at Austin City limits and him and Justin Timberlake live at the CMA’s is an unbelievable performance!!!!
That 2015 CMA duet with Justin Timberlake is FIRE.
AMAZING
Yeah. This is a great version but is missing something without Morgan. I think she was pregnant or had just had the twins at this point.
In my opinion best award show performance EVER!
Yes! Watching CS and JT was just like watching two musicians having a jam session.
Another awesome version is when Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake performed this together at the CMA's (I think). They did this song and I Can't Drink You Away... and it was freaking amazing!!!
I actually disagree. I like JT but he was contorting his face and looking like he was making a joke out of it all. So I don't like that version.
@@mindymorgan8479 Respect your opinion, but (for me) the fact that he was so into it that he got stank face is one of the best things about it.

I heard a 100 reactions to this song. It never gets old! Chris Stapleton’s voice is so special!
Have you heard Marc Broussard? He’s amazing as well.
My Lord, is there anyone out there that sings with anymore emotion than Chris Stapleton? Gives me cold chills everytime. Love this man.
The first time I heard Chris Stapleton I was on a Frisbee golf course in San Diego. These country guys were playing in front of us blasting their music. My husband and I liked it so much we had to ask who it was? They stated it was The Steeldriver's Band of which Chris Stapleton was the lead. That was the day we found our genre of music. My husband and I were immediately hooked and now forever fans.
love love LOVE Chris Stapleton and his wife can SANG!!!!
This dude is such a great artist. His blend of country blues and soul is so beautiful. He has made alot of people question what they knew of country music. Bridging gaps in genres like a boss
My favorite thing about him, introducing new people to country music, he the doorway to Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, and Cody Jinks.
Blues and country comes from the same roots, the struggles from the poor farmers getting exploited and the slaves getting exploited - even tho the laters had it harder for sure - are very similar. Country and blues are like a fork-split on the same path of American music.
A person that can appreciate every genre of music and feel the soul of the artist that is making it is my kind of people. Music shall set us all free.
If only there were more people with this mindset. ❤
I needed this song in my life today! Thank you for sharing. That guitar is still on my mind! So good. I've heard this song many times, but never live. Absolutely chef's kiss delicious.
I absolutely love Chris Stapleton. No one can touch him on this song. Yes, he has other great works... Sounds like you're new to the spread! Welcome. Yes, pretty black girls rock country too🤠
All the way to your soul. You'll love everything he does. More known for being a song writer but he's obviously a better singer than 99% of the singers buying his songs.
As incredible as this dudes own music is, he’s written for soo many big names too
Chris Stapleton ❤❤❤ singing the introduction of his band is better than lots of music put out today 👏👏👏
I hadn’t watched you react to music. It is a joy to watch your beautiful warmth and genuine appreciation. I wish you well.
He was popular in bluegrass long before he became “well known” for his country hits. He was the lead singer of the Steeldrivers for a while… any of their older stuff is gold!
Also his stint with The Jompson Brothers - Barely Alive is my fave of theirs.
Steeldrivers is fantastic

Love the Steeldrivers!
Bluegrass is so pure imo. I've loved that kind of music since I was 14...26 years later. It's still the best.
“I Was Wrong”...all day long. Talking serious goose bumps to almost tears every time. Make sure you’re fully enveloped in the song, and you can feel his voice. Chris Stapleton all day, every day. Haha

Your man. The song that "bought him a house". He wrote it, sold it, and still does it better than everyone when he sings it.
I like Tennessee whiskey but I was wrong is my favorite.
I know you've probably heard this a 1000 times, but your voice is so smooth and silky.

David Allen Coe sings the original. However, Chris puts his soul into this song. Just a remarkable person
Yes BUT that was not the most popular one back in the 80s, it made it to 77 with Coe, but George Jones version was in the top 10. And neither of them put the soul smack down on em Like Mr. Stapleton.
This was just a song I knew of & occasionally heard until Chris got ahold of it & turned it into pure legend.
A lot of people covered this song in the 70s & 80s and, they ALL equally sucked. Lmao!
Dean Dillon , Linda Hargrove.

He used to be part of a bluegrass band called "The Steeldrivers". Some of the songs he has recorded solo were originally recorded with that group.
I didn't know he had been a Steeldriver!
I absolutely love The Steeldrivers!!
Absolutely LOVE him. Perfection.
The Original was done in the early 80’s by David Allen Coe. Chris Stapleton has written hit songs for YEARS, for so many different artists, but didn’t write this one, he just sings the hell out of it!! His wife actually convinced him to start performing his music and man I’m glad she did!! As you just found out, he is AMAZING!! She is his back up singer, but not on stage here. And yes, he has lots other music!! Glad you like him, he truly is SO TALENTED!!
The original was done by George Jones back in the '70s
Modern Day Kris Kristofferson. Great singer, but Iconic song writer.
@@donnyharris4858 Actually, Chris Stapleton only uses the lyrics from the original song. The music and the melody of Chris Stapleton's version are totally different.
@Donny Harris David Allen Co first sang it in 1981. George Jones took it to #1 in 1983
Almost George Jones song. The Possum lives on !
Whenever I hear CS sing. I get the chills. Literally.
Everytime!
I’m 62 years old &l let me say I would get lost & be moved in my spirit & and my soul, when I listened to artists of Motown back in the 70s’ so I find joy watching black brothers &sisters being moved in their inner being by southern fryed country.
Love Chris Stapleton what a singer musican y. He will be the ledgend of time. Keep up all your great work ❤️ Love you to. I can tell you let that music 🎵🎶 Move your soul.
I love this song, brings tears to my eyes, and I'm not sad. Just beautiful!
His work with the Steeldrivers is some of the best music ever made. Doesn't matter what your preferred genre is, give it a listen. Perfect marriage of song writing & musical composition. It just feels right.
