There are so many talented kids that sing or play musical instruments with amazing ability. I enjoy their performances. I watched this video because I've never heard of this girl. I Expected to see another young talented performer, but witnessed a gifted vocal artist who took me on an emotional journey whether I wanted to or not. A cascade of unbelievable beauty so profound, so unique, and solely belonging to her. And she shared it with us!
She makes me cry she straight up reaches into my soul and she takes me carries me away on every single note she sings!
Holy shit. How does a voice like this come out of a child? This is absolute art, from visuals to vocals. What an amazing young woman! This is what we need more of in mainstream!
At this time, her family was rock-solid on her having a normal childhood. She had won Norway Got Talent and numerous child-star exploiting entities (including Disney) came knocking on the door - but were all turned down.
You see, while Angelina is ethnically multi-cultural, she was raised in Norway, where raising a balanced child is more important that fame and fortune.

This little girl doesn't just sing songs she paints them with a color loaded palit that's hard to compare, even her brush strokes need to be appreciated. She pulls you into a world with her voice that I call the Angelina Haze.
Her rendition of "Bang Bang" at barely 8 years old did that to me. Pulled me into another world. That's a good way to put it.

As suggested in other comments, All of her performances at 7-8 years old on Norway's Got Talent are wonderful and you will see that early Jazz/Blues singing from a young child, a genius child. Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, a well known Iranian Artist exposed Angelina to Jazz music at a really young age and it is engrained in her. This rendition is amazing but all of her NGT performances are amazing also. Definitely worth your time.

I disagree with reincarnation arguments because, just how many souls is she now occupied by?!! (ha ha)... I prefer the "channeling" argument where she gets 'tuned in' to someone's wavelength. One of the main reasons why ANGELina has a team of professional musicians around her, is due to her winning Norway's got Talent at age 9. Already after her audition, singing GLOOMY SUNDAY by Billie Holiday, she became a viral sensation.
And had numerous perfomances with big bands, on Jazz festivals around Norway and the world. She's blessed with a great family that has supported her and protected her, so she's still allowed to be a child, inspite of her enormous talent.

Wow, she's just a baby, a tiny little girl belting it out. Jaw dropping how technically good she is. I look forward to hearing her when she is older with life experience and deep emotion added to her already amazing performance. Her mom must be so proud of her,.

She's a little vocal genius!
I'm a cranky old man who sometimes literally shaves with fire and she's one of a very few performers who easily bring tears to my eyes due to their ability to emote and innate technical genius. I've seen some rough rehearsal videos and such a young person was setting the arrangements and telling the band what to do. An Old Master soul housed in such a young package leaving a trail of gob-smacked victims like me in her sonic boom wake.
She arranged all the instruments, she is known as The Boss in the studio! And BTW she is always barefoot. In the studio, on stage wherever she sings. She feels the music in her feet and body. She is straight up perfect.
That isn't why she sings barefoot. While performing in Asia even before she won NGT, she gave her shoes to a homeless girl and has sinced performed barefeet to remind her of the less fortunate people in the world.
First time I saw a video of her she was this good BUT she was FIVE YEARS OLD!

She did at least two performances of this, and the video was cobbled together. It's exciting to realize she can be so drop-dead perfect at re-creating her vocals in two sessions, or else re-creating them close enough to the editors can piece-together this smooth-sounding and well-sync'd video. We're probably hearing the spit-shielded mike's version instead, which is more common for studio recordings. If/when you get to her most recent 7th HEAVEN (Live Studio) video, she is again using the Shure 55-type (or your version, the 70-B), but she's lowered it below her lip, and she's dropped the spit-producing F-sounds ("...friends" becomes an almost inaudible F "...riends" sound. "No Spit" on an unshielded 55/70. It's quite a mechanical lesson she's learned.
Just two songs into Angelina's huge library now, and I think you can probably see why she has such a a strong fanbase. There's really nobody that compares to this girl, her versatility is something that really sets her on a special level, but it's something you won't fully understand until you see even more. As the saying goes, "real recognizes real"... I'm not even that real, and I can recognize that this kid is as real as it gets. You just can't fake it through what she does here. - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 15
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos.
- *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help.
Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...barefoot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need.
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. After she won NGT, they did not want her to be thrust into stardom before she had a chance to grow up as a normal child, and get her education. They allowed her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that came in. Over the years since NGT, they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 130 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent.
- Angelina has written four of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield", "Oslo", and "Million Miles" (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a beautiful world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.
- Updates: On Aug 26, 2020 Angelina's Manager/Uncle announced in an interview that they have decided on Republic Records as the best fit for Angelina and she is now signed with them as their "highest priority new artist".
On Nov 6 she released her first single under Republic... "Million Miles"!
On March 19 2021 Angelina released her latest single "7th Heaven"
She has done so much already, but at 15 she is just getting started!!!

@@josephgamble4561 Thank you for reading it :) I have posted this bio probably a few hundred times (conservative estimate) over the last couple years whenever a new reaction channel discovers Angelina. I always worry that people get tired of seeing me post it, but it's not really intended for the people that have seen it a hundred times. I do it for people like you. The people that are seeing her for the very first time on this video and know nothing else about her. I think her story and her character are a big part of what makes her so intriguing. So if posting my bio only catches the eye of one person every ten times I post it, then I am happy with that :)
Thanks for another good reaction to my favourite singer. She was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody.
As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. The amount of control that Angelina has over her voice cannot be measured. She never hurries a song. She sings in such a way that the emotions in the lyrics are felt by the listener.
In this video did you notice:Angelina finishing some notes and handing them to the musical director, who smiled as he read them? They were her wishes (instructions) to the band how she wished therm to play the music. Then a brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, a well known and respected Iranian artist, who is also Angelina's maternal grandmother and the person who encouraged Angelina in her love of music, especially jazz. And then there is a shot of Angelina holding a candle upon which was an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Lastly, if you had run the video to the end, you would have noticed how the "performing" Angelina, singing at a level of maturity far beyond her years, suddenly became a 9-year-old child almost instantaneously once she finished singing. From the time I first heard Angelina, way back at her first audition on Norway's Got Talent, she has amazed me.

Barefooted - Angelina met and befriended a homeless girl with no shoes when she was very young. She gave the girl her shoes. She vowed to only perform barefooted until every child had shoes. That is an amazing decision showing mature love and compassion. She has a fire inside her against injustice.

The fact that she has been in charge of the musical arrangements since at least 7 years old, is truly unbelievable. On the topic of microphones, for her 12th birthday on January 10, 2018, her family gave her a Neumann TLM 103 microphone. In any videos of her singing at home from 2018 on, she is using that mic. It picks up every little nuance of her voice. She used it in the "I'd Rather Go Blind" video you reacted to. If you want to hear something totally different from Angelina, react to "Every Time We Say Goodbye", the Cole Porter classic made famous by Ella Fitzgerald in 1956. It's just Angelina accompanied by a guitarist. They are on a TV2 Morning TV show in Oslo, Norway (her hometown), outside on the rooftop of the building. The sound quality is like it was recorded in a studio and the purity of her voice is simply astounding. You can thank me later!

The more that I watch the AJ performance of this song, the more that I’m convinced that the 10 year old budding superstar is actually the one who is in charge. What looks to be a cute take in the beginning when she apparently gives a last minute notation for the upcoming performance to the director, soon begins to show little hints that she is in charge. Next comes the shaking of the pen, her eyes constantly looking down at her own notes. Even more telling is the glances to the band in the closed room, and her barely noticed nods toward the trumpet player, who also nods back with a smile (twice I think). Finally the confident look on her face. I believe that all of these little things are very telling. As amazed as I’ve been with her singing, if I’m right, it’s even more amazing than that. Yes, she might be getting lessons, but I suspect that 75-90% of each of her performances are arranged and directed by her.
Everything she’s ever sung. She makes it look so effortless. She just opens her mouth and beauty comes forth.

Great reaction. I love to see who Angelina puts under a spell when watching this. And I thought ok this man has mentioned the mic in detail. So he might not be out under a spell by Angelina. But she got you. I’ve watched 100,a of people react to this and only one has mentioned that it was done using two different sets. One in behind the glass with a filter in front of the mic. Then on a stage with the band with no filter. Then back in behind the glass to finish. Spell bound 🙏

An artist emerged about 9 years ago who defies tradition. Her followers seem to love her for all the non-traditional reasons. Of course, they love her voice and her style, but more than that they love “who” and “what she is. They love her character. Unlike so many idols today who are admired only for their performance skills, they adore and greatly respect this young lady’s humanity and charity from the earliest of ages. They adore her humility, and the love she expresses for her followers every single time, without fail, with a smile, and a wave. They love and appreciate that she has remained humble, ending a performance on stage with a smile and a small curtsy. They’re also proud of her, for honoring a pledge she made so many years ago, to this day. These are not the usual things one thinks about when stating why they like a particular artist. But then again Angelina Jordan Astar, or just Angie, isn’t just “any” artist.

I’m a 63 yo man and you remind me of a wise older black gentleman from back in the 60’s who was part of my family at a Presbyterian church camp.
His name was James Burell and I loved him like a grandfather never seeing the difference in color. He sang old spirituals at my fathers camp and conference center from those he sang as pastor of a primitive baptist church in northern VA.. Blessings brother 🙏🏽😎

Then all the singing greats, Etta, Simone, Elvis, Lou Rawls, Amy, Frank, Michael etc who were watching in heaven and saw the future toothless, barefoot angelina and each put a little present in her soul before sending her to humanity. I've been a huge fan of Billie Holliday since I was 9 yrs old and heard her for the first time. Fast forward to Angelina's rendition of Gloomy Sunday, I was in tears and engulfed in chills. I've followed this child and her 'career' since. She is absolutely the reincarnation of the greats. I've heard every song she's put on here and every one of them are amazing.
