  • In this episode, I had the absolute honor of interviewing one of my most significant role models: Dr. Jack Kruse. Dr. Kruse (aka Uncle Jack) is a respected neurosurgeon and CEO of Kruse Longevity Center at Destin, a health and wellness company dedicated to helping patients avoid the healthcare burdens associated with modernity. Dr. Kruse is a pioneer in areas included: quantum biology, circadian biology, decentralization of medicine and finance, and more.
    In this over 2 hour conversation, we delve into what it means to be truly decentralized, and how decentralization is the solution to the predicaments we find ourselves in today across the board from medicine, to finance, to politics, and beyond.
    There's a guru inside you. It's time to listen to it.
    Check out Dr. Kruse's episodes with Rick Rubin and Andrew Huberman on Tetragrammaton:

    How do you change your life? Live as though all your ancestors were living again through you. The secret of change is to focus all of your time & energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.
    You have an obligation to yourself only. You can only change yourself. You can’t let other people tell you who you are. You have to decide that for yourself. Health improvements always begin with I, not we.
    Persistence wears down resistance.
    Persistence in learning is how we remove the chain’s that bind us in life to change our lives.

    Truly challenged and changed my perspective on the current medical paradigm. Most importantly, some of the information I gleaned from those discussions helped put my mum's chronic osteoarthritis issues into remission. It's also improved my health greatly . Grateful for this interview. Keep up the good work Dr. Cowan!

    brass tacks, kruse is calling for people to broaden their horizons and avoid myopic traps that amount to psychological and physical prisons. in other words, we should be as multidisciplinary, holistic, comprehensive, and integrative as possible in pursuit of knowledge. we must unchain ourselves from broken paradigms. putting aside his acerbic tone (eccentricity isn't uncommon among free thinkers), he shares a lot of fun and interesting gems in here. thanks, alexis.

      I have seen some references to 'colors' by a couple of quantum type practitioners, but I haven't looked into it - don't know if it's about colored lights, or what you're wearing, or looking at, etc. Of course from the psychology perspective - there are the theories that colors can affect mood in the decorating perspective - i.e paint your walls blue is relaxing (I think I don't remember). Don't know about the black shirt, might not mean anything. I wear a lot of black b/c it is easy, and goes with everything. It might just be his 'uniform' - i.e if you always wear the same thing, you don't have to think about it :)

    • @scoobydadog246
      @scoobydadog246 Před 5 měsíci +4

      It's hard Rose, maybe you won't see this; but I am in similar situation. I used to have one of those full spectrum lights, and it helped. I know Jack doesn't approve , but I get the feeling from him that he thinks those of us who can't pack up and move to El Salvador, or get somewhere similar for a long vacay aren't 'trying' or don't want to help ourselves. Maybe it's just me - but reality is that, I have to think the majority can't do that - at least not now. We can aspire to that, but we also need to be healthy enough to do it, so maybe we need to depend on some less than perfect helpers to get us by. I find that getting into the low mood like you are - feeling disconnected and hopeless is dangerous, because you start to lose the energy to help yourself. I'm ordering another full spectrum 10K lux light box - under $100 - there is a good yt channel where a man compares them so you can get a good one. I will add a couple of IR bulbs - cheap, like for the chicken brooders and I'm going to add the UV using lights they make for reptiles, and sit under this concoction every morning . I don't know if it is "right" - , but I suspect it will help. I also will go out and walk in the cold grey! So - even the bright light in the am on days when there isn't any might help you. Just an idea.

About 5 years ago he said that he gained weight again when he experimented with doing only the "low carb food hack" without focusing on the "light hack." which proved that food doesn't matter and it's all about the sunlight basically. But, he should have lost that weight now after 5 years of light optimization and moving to the best location on earth and using cold immersion etc etc...but no. He is still obese or fat. Strange?

    • @scoobydadog246
      @scoobydadog246 Před 5 měsíci +3

      Great question - but I wish he would have answered it - or rather maybe just thrown a little 'practical' pearl to the swine - like he used to! This is a typical nonanswer that I hear a lot - "well, yes; it could help but not if you don't use it correctly..." So please, tell us! Or at least where we can find out. I get the feeling that he thinks if one does not pack up and move to El Salvador or someone similar; one doesn't want to help themselves, or get better. Yes, of course we all know the best is to get vit D from the sun! Yes - ideally we could move or take extended vacays to somewhere warm and sunny; if we aren't able to do that in our current climate. We all know this just isn't possible for the majority; so shouldn't we at least be able to get less than ideal help. I"d rather use light than take pills. I think that is at least closer to 'natural'. I go out in the sun, but from Oct to early March, there is not enough UV where I live to make vitD.

      @@OpenlyBritish 🤣😂 That's true! I know I have heard him mention Sperti in the past - and I believe implying it was ok (my interpretation). I am currently setting up a full spectrum light with an added IR bulb. He would probably be horrified 🤣, but I am in the frozen tundra and can go for a week or more without any sunlight, and there is not enough UV to make vitD. I don't have any UV - on a budget right now, but looking into it. I used one of the full spectrum lights in the past and it really helped keep my mood from crashing. I still walk outside (almost) every day and if there is sun, I do know that is 'better', but one can only stay out so long, temps have been below zero.

    • @OpenlyBritish
      @OpenlyBritish Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@scoobydadog246 To my medically illiterate unwashed understanding the main thing is to OBEY the environment. If it's cold and there is no sun - expose yourself to cold. I know it is HARD. I live in London and although the temperature hardly ever goes below zero, I am not comfortable in with short sleeves and shorts in +5C temperature. Worth mentioning, is that the diet should be local: grown in your country or the same/similar latitude. I have noticed that I feel better if I stick with produce grown in the UK. I couldn't understand why I was getting brainfog from eating bananas and coconut water... I went to sunbeds today for 8 minutes and then went for a small run wearing cycling shorts, but long long-sleeved top and several layers. The first rays of D will be on the 26th of Feb....

    • @UndoctrinateYourself
      @UndoctrinateYourself  Před 11 dny +1

      My perspective: you only want to use the sperti midday to mimic natural UV rhythms and you'd ideally combine with red and infrared light which is always present when UV is present (using the sperti outside could be a great solution also). You'll also want to focus exposing your abdomen and calves to get the biggest POMC benefit from the sperti.

    Jack is great but he loses a lot of people when he says you can't get skin cancer from sun exposure because skin cancer patients all have one thing in common: low vitamin D. Too much of a good thing (sun) can be a bad thing correct?

      i think the ppl who get skin cancer are not metabolic healthy, they live under stress, eat junk food, smoke and work under blue light, if is low vitamine D need more sunlight, if can get more is because the POMC is allready depleted and not working properly..

      Too much of anything is problematic, however it's not that too much sun results in skin cancer. It's that intermittent sun exposure (i.e. someone who never goes into the sun goes on vacation and blasts themselves with sun for a couple days) increases risk of skin cancer. Regular, daily sun exposure is actually inversely associated with melanoma. There may be increased risk of BCC and SCC from regular sun exposure, but these are very non-aggressive cancers (meanwhile, getting regular sun exposure protects against very aggressive cancers including colon, breast, pancreatic, blood, and brain cancers)--the risk benefit analysis is clearly in favor of more sun not less. Fair people need to spend time building up their solar calluses, it's a gradual increase in exposure over time. there are also a lot of behaviors that modern humans engage in that increase mitochondrial dysfunction and result in increased burn risk and failure to effectively assimilate and respond to sunlight. See my instagram for discussions on these issues.
