    About minute 15: “Warm shrinks water, cold expands it”. Below 5 Deg C cold does expand water (this is why ice forms on the surface).
    But above 5 Deg C water expands for every degree increase until it eventually reaches a temperature where it flashes to steam for the given ambient pressure.
    I’m not understanding what Dr Krause is trying to say with his statement because most biochemical reactions in the mitochondria are occurring well above the 5 Deg C transition temperature (i.e. sensible heat) in homeothermic animals (mammals & birds).
    Under these conditions “warm expands water”.
    This is demonstrable by heating a water filled container (100%full) from 5 Deg C to 99 Deg C (i.e Not the boiling point).
    If the container is open it will overflow quickly. If the container is sealed then the pressure inside will increase until the container ruptures due to thermal expansion of water which is “non-compressible”.

    Hello Dr Kruse. I am hoping you might share your thoughts with me on how your light protocol could be workable for someone with Lupus? I have SLE (dx Jan 2013) and have been photosensitive since I was 14 years old, with varying degrees of sensitivity. I have had photosensitivity testing in a hospital, and am sensitive to both UVA and UVB, but more so UVA. Even a CFL can cause the polymorphic light eruption on my skin, and sunlight on my skin is immediately very painful and causes almost immediate confusion. Generally, my skin is completely covered, and I have been using blue light specs for a while now when I'm inside anywhere with artificial light/PC screen etc. Would there be any time of morning where I could get IRA into my eyes, without UVA being around? To enable me do the 'reset' activity that you mention. And while the UV impact on my skin is very obvious, I am less aware of the impact of natural light getting in through my eyes, and I'm not sure what to do about that given the SLE. I'd be most appreciative of your expert view on this, as I've been unable to find the answer so far.

    • @swen6797
      @swen6797 Před 4 lety +4

      Kruse talks lots about building up your solar callous in the early morning before UV A and B shows up by exposing your eyes and skin to the IR that comes in that morning light. Perhaps your reaction to UV would change if you prepared yourself for it with morning light exposure. Perhaps the regenerative properties of that IR light would change some things that are making you sensitive to UV even if your callous isn't built up all that well.

      The best way to energise water is to spin it in a whirlpool with ice and then drink it. It will then form a single molecule film around your cells and give it energy.
      Water is life giving. You can have life without oxygen and light but not without water.

    OK, so when he says AM sun, does that mean any time before noon? Or maybe the earlier the better? Is 15-20 min enough every day?
    Also he talks about grounding? Does that mean wearing any shoes or slippers will defeat the purpose? Or is it ok to have something on your feet? I have concrete all around so don’t have much options when it comes to standing on the ground or grass.
    Also my balcony gets sun only in the afternoon. Does that mean I have to go out in the street and be under direct sunlight for this to work? Due to the law of the county I reside in, swimming suit is allowed only on the beach so best I can do is wearing shorts and shirt on a regular day during sun exposure.
    I know I have asked too many things but I appreciate anyone taking time to respond.

      AM sun - Yes, sun before noon.
      Hard to say how much is enough, however 15-20min is better than nothing.
      Slippers and shoes are not good for grounding. Do it barefooted and barehanded.
      Based on what he said in this talk, direct sunlight is better than indirect.
      Perhaps there is a park nearby your apartment. You could go for a morning walk/run, get some AM light and possibly do some grounding.

      It's not optimal at all to try because rays are switching and intensifying slowly so your cortisol speeds up correctly. Most lamps simply come on at one level. Plus the morning light is cycling through ultra violet to blue and these two parts of the spectrum are NOT what you want mess with. Red comes in with the natural sun but lamps except Speriti or tanning beds won't have much red at all. Anything you use must have red spectrum. Anything full blast simulates high noon.

      It is about getting sun to your retina and skin, not just merely "getting into the sun everyday" AND about when you do it during the day. What did you wear or apply that blocked that pathway of sunlight to those surfaces? Also, you can detrimentally affect the gains you make with sunlight by exposure to artificial light at night. Which of these possibilities describes you?

      I'm researching this now. There ARE back up systems to get uv light in via skin, your food (they absorb light codes) and the whites of the the absorb a little. I haven't found out much more yet. If someone has to get the surgery only do one eye. There's a ophthalmologist quantum guy Dr. Montgomery who's trying to get company's to make circadian (uv permitting) iol's. As of now they all block the morning ultra violate.

    I am a retired dentist that has followed Dr. Prices research for the past 25 years. While I think Dr. Cruz is really onto something. I do not understand how he minimizes the effect of food on what are obvious phenotypical outcomes. Dr. Price studied cultures around the world and saw that single generation changes were very dramatic when the diet changes. I would doubt that these people’s light environment was dramatically altered. Pottengers Cats were all in a lab light environment and the only differences were the diets - Essentially cooked or raw. And lastly, the experiments at duke university with the agouti mice produced dramatic differences between the offspring when the moms had their diets modified to include foods that were methyl donor rich and I would think that the light lab conditions were the same.
    Perhaps he’s just stressing the importance of light, and that it is a more dominant influence than food but I don’t understand the comment roughly quoted as - Everything you think you know about food is wrong. I don’t know where that comes from.

    • @Ceej474
      @Ceej474 Před 11 měsíci +8

      I agree with what you've said to a large extent as I went through the same thought processes, however if you've listened to Dr Kruse on other podcasts he does acknowledge the importance of food but still feels the light is top trumps. To paraphrase him, you have a lot more leeway with your food choices if your light environment and circadian behaviours are exemplary. In Weston A Price's work and also with Pottenger's Cats- the natural diet was almost always exclusively displaced with refined and processed junk. Nowadays a lot of people will fall somewhere in the middle where they'll eat some good foods like animal proteins and fats and seasonal veg etc interspersed with some processed foods, so it's much more of a spectrum rather than 'this or that'. And therefore the better and more consistent we are with circadian behaviours the more likely our health will not suffer when we indulge in treats providing the rest of the diet is good. Also not many people understand food in terms of electrons, DHA, other nutrients acting as light chromophores etc and this is why he bangs on about the mainstream understanding of food as being wrong.

      I read his book Epi-paleo RX which is centered entirely around nutrition and the components of a paleo-diet. At this point however, it seems he has exchanged the diet-paradigm in favor of sun-gazing and blu-light blocking. I've seen recent (2024) podcasts with him and with all due respect, he doesn't exactly look like a picture of health and well-being. I live in a tropical country(Thailand), clean country living, outdoor lifestyle with plenty of sunshine, don't own a smart phone. The most profound change to my health & well-being came after only a few months of eating a high fat/ moderate protein diet.
      I agree with you, Dr.Kruse is on to something with 'light-therapy', however, it's not uncommon for highly intelligent individuals to throw the baby out with the bath-water.

      I don't believe he ever said artificial light is more favorable than sunlight. They both serve a purpose. He also never said that food cannot positively effect your health. If you've listened to him for hours then you've missed a lot of nuanced information. " throwing the baby out with the bath water" is definitely an exaggeration. He focuses on light because that's the information we are lacking most and our perspective desperately need to change.
