This podcast is called Undoctrinate Yourself because no one can facilitate this process but you. Undoctrination is the active process of examining your beliefs, biases, and preconceptions in earnest, and disposing of those that do not serve you. This can be a painful and destabilizing process. However, without this level of honesty with self, we can never actualize our potential, and the pain of regret will always be greater than the pain of growth.
I honor you for your willingness to confront what is uncomfortable. We can only be reborn if we are willing to shed our skin.

So when leptin is interacting with hypocretin neurons in the hypothalamus, it’s not the journey of a hormone molecule from a peripheral fat cell via the blood passed through blood brain barrier and physically locking onto a receptor site, it’s really leptin sending a light photon to the non visual light receptor at the hypocretin neuron for affect.
I am on a Dexcom 7 but am considering stopping it because of the emfs in the Bluetooth and my Apple Watch. I see my endo next week and expect a A1c in the upper 5’s. I have been a type two on insulin (down to 12 units long acting only) and I do a ketovore diet. Do you think the advantages of a cmg outweigh the negatives? Also on rubellus 14mg daily.

That’s why I pushed back a bit on the need for skin to get sun. He likely doesn’t want to get involved in the politics of recommending UV light exposure despite the biological necessity being very clear.

Can’t win them all, the blue light story is his lane and it’s a great one to spread around regardless of his lack of engagement with the UV light conversation.
When I was a little boy my grandparents lived on a hill above a hospital and when we went to visit them we could see the roof of the hospital where they would wheel out the patients in wheel chairs and hospital beds and we used to wave at them . I remember felling very sad 😢
At least they were taking people outside!!!!!

One question: in regards to the UK Biobank data on health benefits discovered in individuals with more light exposure - do we know if that was controlled for other activities associated with better health outcomes? You could imagine that increased light exposure equals more time outside with more movement and possibly exercise etc.
Wonderful! I'm so glad that he has a book (best-selling!) on this topic. Podcasts are great and informative, but it really takes a book to gain lasting traction and influence. Personally, adopting a carnivore diet 4 years ago jump-started my healing (Hashimoto's) but learning about the importance of the right light at the right time has really accelerated it. Ditching my bed for a Japanese tatami mat has also been a sleep game-changer. Thank you both! 🌞

Would like to hear more discussion on sleep apnea. I'm supposed to start CPAP next week. Have tried everything and failed including leptin reset, keto, etc (get light headed and weak, continues for weeks and never improves, lose little to no weight). I'm a landscaper, I get extreme amounts of sun!

I see it for what it is and the truth that you’re speaking mind-boggling and I’ve seen the results in my own self, I know which is logical verbosity. I’ve seen it with my own eyes but wow, keep it coming. Please keep it coming.
I have had plantar fasciitis and it’s intense pain. I’ve learned what to do if it inflames but I’ve said I don’t know how people deal with chronic pain. It’s great to different options for pain than the centralized approach.

I live in western Oregon rain forest mountains. Fog and frequent mists or rains persist most of year. I sitting aq hot tub each morning to get early morning light exposure. The tub overlooks the garden and orchard. I'm wondering how the fogs limit exposures between the different wavelength regimes? And, does NIR reach under the water surface at all? Also, the tub has red LEDs around the tub, that can be turned on as well, if any benefit might possibly be gained.

No shampoo!!!! I wash my hair like once a week, rarely ever use shampoo unless I feel a build up of my curl products. The less you do to hair the healthier it will be. You can do scalp massage, sun exposure on scalp, red light therapy as well!
