This is so heartbreaking. Pibby seemed like a guaranteed hit. I figured there’d be all the legal hoops to jump through but still…we’ve gotta keep hope alive. We gotta keep showing our love for Pibby and pray, pray to the cartoon gods that they allow Pibby to become a full fledge show someday.

My guess is that the reason it didn’t get greenlit is because it would be a legal nightmare due to needing copyright and trademark permissions. They didn’t just show WB or Cartoon Network shows in the the short, but they also showed the setting of SpongeBob’s house. If that was part of the vision for Pibby, I can see why Adult Swim wouldn’t have picked it up for a full series. It just wasn’t worth potential lawsuits or permission costs.
This thing had a massive campaign in AS since the original short. It even got it's own April Fools dedicated spot. HOW IN THE HELL IT DIDN'T GET GREENLIT?!

I honestly think it worked better as a short, with the premise Pibby had, i dont think there's enough they can do without making it feel the same. maybe a miniseries of like 6 episodes on HBO Max but not a full length season. There may be bias as i didnt overly enjoy pibby when it started.

This show carried my channel, it’s really sad to see that it won’t become an actual show.
I had it in my head that Pibby was about Cartoon Network realizing its life is coming to an end and wanting to know if there was something afterward. With CN's HQ going RIP, this could very well be the meaning IRL, even if Pibby: The Series is coming into fruition.

I know right I’m so sad and disappointed with adult swim. I hope the creator of the series will make learning with Pippi a Web series that we can watch on CZcams and hopefully adult swim will be interested. If they see it as a web series I wanted to binge the series along side South Park, but no adult swim had to ruin it. Now we have to deal with all the acid trip shows on there.

You know, it's really sad that all the hard work Adult Swim did to make the Learning with Pibby series and then it just immediately gets cancelled for no reason.

Learning With Pibby was a wonderful concept that caught our eyes. Even I was amazed by it. Unfortunately, popularity isn’t an excuse for the heavy complications that making this show would have. Making a series involving lots of crossovers is really difficult, as Valskibum said. This also means, we all have to move on from Learning with Pibby.
But maybe, just maybe, in the far far future, when things change, it might be green lit, but either way, it’s not coming anytime soon.

Why would adult swim reject this? They're starting to become kid friendly with checkered past unicorn my adventures with Superman even though it's supposed to be the nighttime programming for adults only that it was in the past even when it starts kids won't be able to see Superman in action nor will they see any violent unicorns nor will they get to see any old Cartoon Network programming because they can only be watched by adults now not kids remember the slogan all kids out of the pool it's time for adult swim they literally meant Adult Swim may contain mature material viewers may not find suitable, which means no kids allowed.

I think what killed it was the merger with Discovery and WB. Zaslav has a weird dislike towards animation and probably axed this. Before the merger I believe Adult Swim was tryna push for a series.

Adult Swim doesn't care about quality or potential anymore - as they are more focused on more Rick & Morty seasons and Robot Chicken reruns to actually care about giving a new series a chance compared to the cashcows they already have. 😒

You have no idea how hard I took it the entire day. However, Greenley did say that it doesn’t necessarily mean we'll never see Pibby again. Just because it got rejected doesn’t mean Greenley gives up on her, because you could clearly hear he remained optimistic despite giving up on waiting for a response from Adult Swim. By this point, there are 2 options for Pibby to make an official return: Either as a public domain or as a web series. I say we should keep hearing from Greenley about what he plans next.
Either way, that’s a sad day indeed, but we need to show Adult Swim we are not giving up on Pibby.

I'm praying they just make a Hazbin Hotel type move. Release the first episode here on CZcams, and when it gets super popular, capitalize on it and make merch! If they do something like that, hopefully Adult Swim can realize what a success the show can be.

I can defo see Pibby becoming an indie animation project, being funded by online supporters, but it'd probably take a few years to develop and plan out. Issues with copyright with the various properties in the show would also cause a lot of delays too

I can't believe this is happening 😢 that trailer with over 33 million views came out on October 30th, 2021, aka my birthday.
Ever since this trended on Twitter, I was HEARTBROKEN by the cancellation. It had SO MUCH potential to be an Infinity War/Smash Ultimate-style crossover event featuring popular and obscure show, movie, and game characters. I can understand Dodge's struggles, and I hope he can find a way to make our corruption-braving preschool warrior finally become a part of pop culture. (even though Robot Chicken exists...) Maybe through a webcomic? An ARG? A CZcams series? Who knows! All I'm saying is, I hope Dodge gets a second chance to express his creative freedom, and become a modern legend.

Man, all the combos and collaborations seem to have pointed to the direction of this getting a show.
The corrupted Adult Swim Bumpers, the billboard, the copyright extensions and possibly leaked storyboards of the first and second episodes of this stage how, but now it seems it may never come to pass....
Aside from the possibility of it being cancelled by Warner Bros. Studios or Adult Swim, there's also the writers and animators strike we still have to consider. The writer's strike ended successfully, but the animator's strike is still ongoing with the terms of negotiating and compromise.
Hopefully this is just a joke/prank or a way to say/pretend that the show itself got "corrupted" and was "cancelled" by the creator because the in-universe corruption took over the Pibby TV Show, kinda like how Scott Cawthon (creator of FNAF) made a teaser for FNAF Sister Location saying it was "Cancelled due to leaks", but when you brightened the image, it explained that the "leaks" were referring to "gas leaks" in-universe and that the game was probably still going to be released (which it did).
If not, the fandom has already grown so big (especially on the Friday Night Funkin' side of things) with animators, fan-artists, and creators of every kind imaginable make awesome ideas and concepts for this show.
*If Adult Swim won't let us have it, we'll make our own show!*

looking at it, I feel like this is more of a "not yet" situation, it can take a long time before anything gets greenlit, and seeing that Cartoon Network Studios shut down, it seems like it was really bad timing for Pibby.
I know it won't be any time soon, but I'm still hoping for a possibility.

Speaking as 1998 born child, I grew up watching the most epic shows in history: Teen Titans, Justice league/unlimited, my gym partner is a monkey, Powerpuff girls, etc.
Sadly I am also living in a world where Hollywood is killing off all the good shows while leaving us with nothing but crap.
It's not cancelled, so there still is hope.
Like the show's teaser was a SMASH HIT, Adult Swim is missing out on creating a full out legacy, everyone says yes, but corporate entities don't always cooperate with us 😢

I think Learning with Pibby honestly is fine the way it is left. As a concept short it works just fine, and it’s not outside the realm of what Adult Swim does. It will always have that cult following, think of Korgoth of Barbaria. It’s better to be appreciative that we got what we did in the first place over yearning for more of what’s most likely never coming.

I thought becoming a show would be near-guaranteed with how popular it was, especially with Adult Swim having an entire April Fools thing around it. Absolute tragedy that Adult Swim didn't pick it up. Maybe it could find a home elsewhere? There was so much potential in that premise.
EDIT: I do agree that the crossover aspect might have had something to do with it, but perhaps they could work around it by only having Warner Bros properties, or instead having original worlds that are clear parodies of Warner Bros worlds?
Considering how adult swim still has the rights to the original short, and they are continuing to keep the trademark, I highly doubt they would let it be picked up by a different studio, there just letting it to rot at the moment which is unfortunate :/
