In this video I speak with the Vice President of Elegoo. He explains the company's past, present, and future, and most importantly, everything you want to know about the Orange Storm Giga. He also discusses plans for a future printers, including a multicolor corexy bambu lab P1P P1S X1C AMS competitor.
We also get an overview of the entire product line from Elegoo, ranging from their Resin series (Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and a secret printer that is going to be even bigger), their FDM line (Neptune 3 Pro, Neptune 4 Pro, Orange Storm Giga), and their filaments and resins.
The orange storm is packed with features, including a 10 inch touchscreen, massive 800x800mm build volume, and only costs 0.0002 cents per cubic mm of print volume. There is nothing like it in the same price range. Modix, BIG REP, PIOCRATE, and MINGDA offers some similar sized machines, albeit at a higher price points.
In my opinion, Elegoo offers some of the best value for money printers on the market.

Price point for Orange Storm is really out of this world... Especially for early kickstarter backers. For the past few months I've been building a printer of similar size, and my tally (at this point in time! :D ) is around 3 000 USD. So, twice the amount of early backers! It's crazy how much the price scales for larger components, just the aluminum plate for the build plate was around 600$. For Elegoo to make something like this, at this price is amazing, I REALLY hope it ends up being a great printer, that would be awesome for the consumer market!

Elegoo is my favorite FDM brand by far. Their consistent quality to cost ratio is unmatched. My Neptune 4 and 3 pro are more reliable than my SV06 or ender 3. The 4 is awesome because I can run it to an old laptop with a cat5 cable. I have full klipper access and I can use the laptop to figure out how to tweak it to my liking. It makes learning Klipper a much easier process.

We need reliability and ease of use.
Make the belt auto adjustable so we don't need to tweak everytime and have offsets in print layers.
Big screen is good but shouldn't be the focus, the X1C is mini but it does it all.

That Orange Storm Giga is inspiring! My first impulse was "oh, I could print an entire R2-D2 body as a single object with that!"
My second thought was "it's probably too big, really." Which is just funny, to me; I've been saying for a while that a 30x30cm printer is useless to me because it's not big enough to print the big things I want and the small things fit nicely on a 25x25cm build plate. So now Elegoo goes and makes an 84x84cm printer and I'm all "that's too big!"
Alas, even if they make a smaller one using the regular Neptune printer's build plates, that will end up too small because that works out to 45x45, and R2-D2 is 48.5cm in circumference. :/
Oh, well, I really really really can't afford a 1500$ USD printer right now anyway, much less the filament to run it. But it's nice to dream! Maybe in a new years, when this is the "old, discounted" model I can enact my visions of a droid factory. :D

Elegoo is pretty good. I have a Neptune 4 Max, and it actually has surprisingly good print quality -- better than my V3 SE and my SV07. I obviously bought the printer for big prints, but its ability to do fine details really surprised me since it doesn't really look like anything special in that regard, but the prints look great. It's a nice printer -- although, I think its fair to say, these are Elegoo's first run at Klipper printers and they've got a lot of growing pains with Klipper, there are some bugs and a lot of standard klipper features are just missing. You can implement them yourself just fine, but it's more work. Another minor poo is that they didn't go with an actual KlipperScreen, so most of the functionality you need to access on a web browser.

    • @NathanBuildsRobots
      @NathanBuildsRobots  Před 6 měsíci +2

I think they wanted to maintain a dumbed down interface on the touchscreen so people coming from non-klipper printers won’t get confused. For Klipper enthusiasts, it might be a letdown, but for the mass market I think it makes sense.
The thing is- the Neptune line looks and costs the same as a lower quality product, but they must be paying more attention to details in the design that others are missing. Whether a it’s quality control or proper attention to machining tolerances, they just tend to work better than other equivalently priced and specced machines.

My Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro is plugging away next to me. It's been printing almost nonstop for over two months. I would have liked to have spent $20 more and had WiFi, rather than spending $20 on a WiFi dongle that's flopping around on the table.
The OrangeStorm Giga is more than I need but I can see a lot of uses for it - model shops, prop departments, architects, cosplay extremists, and a lot of weird applications such as printing plugs for carbon fiber car parts, printing forms that can be sprayed with shotcrete to make large flower pots or other architectural products, etc.

    Two Things Here >
1 > I think they better do a smaller version of Orange Storm Giga say a 600 mm square size of printing volume printer
so us not so rich users can afford the smaller one which maybe they can call Orange Storm Mini.
That be more popular price wise if they can do it at $599 with the same features as the Giga.
2 > I am a bit upset they did the Neptune 3 Max ( I brought ) then a couple of months later without saying it be out soon they did the better Neptune 4 Max,
Which had the two things I did not have on the 3 Max ( the all metal 300 c hot end & the Klipper firmware )
I brought the 3 Max not knowing that the better 4 Max be out soon after and now can't afford the money or the room to get the better 4 Max.
So I am not happy bunny! I lost out on those two features on the 3 Max printer, and they both cost the same too.
So not good Elegoo selling the 3 Max then not tell us the better version 4 Max be coming If I known I would have waited for the 4 Max and got that one!

And as I said I had to pay even more money fora Pad 7 to do klipper on it but klipper is so damn hard for non experts.

What is the nozzle size, max flow rate, maximum possible extrusion volume? did I miss it? With such a huge volume, you can go only so far, without a redesigned extrusion system, that extrudes pellets to plastic, right inside extruder🤔. Besides that you need a lot of tension to keep the belts from causing print artifacts. And Also I got the Elegoo Resin Saturn 8K printer with their Mercury XS wash & Cure Bundle.
But I given up using it now as the cost of the resin for what amount you get is way too pricey now and I had to buy tons of Paper Towels & IPA and safety gear and it got far too pricey!
Plus I now got 11 liters of old used resin water wash which I can't get rid off as it is too toxic to go down any drain or ground and the Big UV lighting I would have to buy to set this wash waste is way too costly to buy.
I have no local recycling to send to and in the UK we don't have the tons of year round hot sun to set the waste.
So I given up on resin and the Elegoo resin printer I have is not worth selling now the newer ones are on sale.

@NathanBuildsRobots for sure. I just see no benefit to the price given it's a scaled up ender 5 s1 the build plate doesn't even appear to be 1 piece. So you will always have a weird seam on massive parts. So for roughly 60 percent more material. A minor update to software. And a regurgitation of standard tech you pay 10 times the price. A used ender 5s1 can be picked up for 150 to 200 bucks. Take a new printers price in account let's say 350 to 500 for it. Still 4 times the price. The current generation of software is very capable of handling the measurements of the printer add some issues with scaling. Extrusion isn't cobalt or gold. It's fairly cheap. You buy belt in bulk so no real issue there. Uses what appears to be fairly standard stepper motors. Bambu x1c are 1500 to 2k. Several new tech advances and function enhancements. Scale is less for sure but there is a reason for the price increase. I'd pay 750 max for this massive format printer. Great idea from elegoo definitely however this will drive little interest in the scaled up model due to the price point. And when the main request from customers is scale. People will likely stick with 500 dollar large format printers and the hassle of working in those constraints than shelling out the cash.

Good luck. Someone in the previous comments said they are building a similar machine and have spent $3000 in parts so far alone, plus the hassle of building it. They probably have to spend $400+ on shipping alone on these things. $2000 is a hell of a deal.
