A few months ago on Reddit I read about that lady who got her face pounded down into the cake. She had made it perfectly clear to her fiancé that she didn’t want him to smash cake in her face. She also told him about her extreme fear of not being able to breath which was due to a frightening experience she had had previous to to her wedding. So, even after all of the PROMISES that he gave her, he went ahead and not only smashed her face into the cake, but he also held her head down in it for a little bit. The main message Reddit (and me) gave her was to leave him IMMEDIATELY! That was a form of abuse he did, and she’d never be able to trust him on ANYTHING after that! (His word would mean nothing) I’m glad she’s getting a divorce!! 👍🏼👍🏼 YOU GO GIRL!!!

I'm so glad she left him! If he couldnt keep that kind of a promise, what else he couldnt keep?
I had an extreme fear of being alone outside at night and dark in general, I am scared of being attacked. My ex fiance would jump out behind things in his yard to scare me and then get surprised that i had a panic attack, or he would turn off the light while i was in the bathroom and leave me in complete darkness. I dont know why i didnt leave him then and there.honestly, i cant answer now that i think about it. i think there was this sunk cost fallacy at play , and i kept making excuses via the smaller nice things he would do. (also due to my parental figures i equated abuse to love, some psychoanalyst would probably say that)
There's always someone out there who is better for us - and if we happen to not meet them, being alone is still manifold better than being disrespected and outright abused

I am a trained pastry chef. I think more people are aware of this fact given all the cooking shows. But wedding cake layers are heavy, and you have to support the upper levels. That means putting straws or wooden sticks inside the cake. So if you shove someone's face into a cake you may be shoving wooden stakes into their face. If things go really badly someone could get really hurt. Smash a bite fine, but grabbing the back of their head and shoving is dangerous and cruel.

Yes that’s what cross my mind. My mother is a retired wedding cake maker and I grew up around her making cakes when I was a kid. When I see videos or hear of someone getting their face mashed into the wedding cake I think of the poor person (most likely the bride) getting her eye(s) seriously injured even possibly of blindness from the wooden sticks impaling the eye.

Like if dude is totally cool with upsetting and humiliating her, and potentially causing her serious injury (coz theres usually things like wooden rods or dowels on wedding cakes for stability that could easily take an eye out) on her wedding day, in front of EVERYONE, like, what's he gonna do behind closed doors?
That's not a prank or a funny joke. That's an action deliberately taken with the express intent of hiring and humiliating her on what should be one of the best days of her life.

@@bottomofastairwellOh I told my husband. You dare dare put cake in my face. Smoosh it on me in any means. Not only will I grab the whole cake. And throw it at you. But I will literally divorce you. And I might get in trouble, because I may beat your ass. Do not. And I repeat, do not do that to me. Whenever he fed me the cake. He very delicately. Politely fed me the cake. His sister's had attitude..
Honestly I didn't even want a cake. Long story..
And one of his sisters got me a cake. She went to reach for the cake. I grabbed the cake cutter and smacked her hand so quick. I said don't even think about it. The bigger you are the harder you will fall. She was about 600 lb then..
She said is that a threat. I said no darling that's a promise..
My husband and I fed each other the cake politely. We've been together for 23 years, married for 20..
And I told my husband. We will get married and I will divorce you if you do that to me. He said Are you serious I said I'm not kidding. I find that very disrespectful. I don't see it as tradition in any means. If you insult me, and don't do as I ask, We will get divorced.
I had a shotgun wedding too. He never understood that. I kid you not we just had our 20th anniversary. My husband says. Why do you always call it a shotgun wedding. I said you walk around with technology in your pocket and you still don't know what that means. Look it up. He did. He said nervously. Oh my gosh. We had a shotgun wedding. I said yep. At the altar. I said to him, because I felt forced. Completely and utterly. I said to him, till death do us part. If you part, you're dead. The lady double took me. And my husband said. Sweetie. We're getting married. I laughed, and said I know. I said, if you part. You're dead. Haha.. I meant it. Standing here having a shotgun wedding. The lady looked at me with huge eyes. I'm pregnant. I'm pissed.
Although we were engaged for 8 months prior to me getting pregnant. As soon as I got pregnant his mother and my grandmother the same age. Got to have a wedding. Cannot have a bastard child. Oh my gosh. I was not going to allow those evil biddies to proclaim that my child was a bastard. Nope. So I was forced to get married. And I kid you not. My stipulations. Death till you part, I'm cool with that. Part before you're dead. You're dead. And no cake in the face.
I also added in, when he was kind of nervous. Telling me we're getting married. I said, you know my mother has been married six times. Married one man twice. I'm not kidding. We've been together 3 years. I was hoping to do this for a total of two more years but here we are having a shotgun wedding..
The lady officiating our wedding was like Oh my God there's guns and I was like no Well maybe. They are southerners.😂😂😂 And I'm pregnant. So could be.😂🤣😆
I'll tell you marriage hasn't always been easy. But I'm grateful for learning some information from my great aunt Violet. Married 70 years. She said, he's going to break your heart. 99% of the time the man always breaks a woman's heart. But let me tell you this. If he can learn to eat his ego. And you can turn his head towards the greatness he can be. You too will have a marriage for 70 years. And she was right. She was absolutely right. I didn't want to wind up like a statistic. And shocking, my husband worked really hard to keep my relationship.
I've always joked around with him, you're lucky life forced us into a marriage. Because if I didn't have those sacred vows. We probably wouldn't be together..
It was a blessing in disguise. For the both of us.. I couldn't have predicted this long ago. But I literally married the man that made all my dreams come true. Every single one of them. What a serendipitous thing.. everything has fallen into place. So well. I'm so grateful.

@@MzClementine So all I got from that essay was you telling women to take the man they get and change everything about him until he becomes the man you WANT. And women wonder why more and more men are staying single and refusing to get into long term relationships, or why so many of them end up cheating with a woman who does NOT try to control and manipulate them.
Oh and smushing a bit of cake into your partners face at the wedding is a VERY long standing tradition that goes back hundreds of years and in many different countries. It is NOT a sign of disrespect. The idea of it being disrespectful only came about with new age feminism when they decided that no man is allowed to do anything that could be considered fun. By tradition BOTH partners should smush some cake on each other.

I told my Ex multiple times that even though it was a wedding “tradition” in his family, it was not a tradition in mine. The B&G feed each other a bit of cake to symbolize that we will be caring and nurturing each other, etc. I explicitly said that I did not want cake in my face and gave my reasons (ruined makeup, dress, etc.) He always laughed and said, “Nope, you’re gonna get it!” I could only interpret this as teasing because after so many cake discussions, HOW could he NOT realize how I felt about this?
FF to the wedding and cutting of the cake. The Bride goes first. His four sisters and their husbands groaned and expressed their disappointment when I fed him a forkful and dabbed a bit of frosting on his nose. I turned to them and shook my head with a smile. No cake in the face for this couple!
When I turned to face my groom, I caught a full plate of cake right in the face.
I froze, horrified and in complete shock. My bridesmaids ran up and hustled me off to the restroom. They tried to clean me up as best they could with water and paper towels. Sticky cake and frosting was on my face, in my hair, on my headpiece and down the front of my gown. I cried and cried. I knew in that moment that I’d made a horrible mistake.
I found out later that as I was being led to the restroom, my dad collared him and gave him a few choice words. The grooms father had to step in b/c for a few seconds it looked as though Dad might punch him in the face. 🤛🏻 I wish he had!
The marriage lasted 2.5 years. Looking back, I should’ve ended it right then like the OP. But, at 23, I wasn’t confident enough to do it.

That last story gave me a flashback to my last job. I read Tarot cards, and a few people from my job found out and asked for readings. Word eventually gets around, and eventually one of the managers actually asked me for a reading- a woman who I had only spoken to a few times, and the main thing that I knew about her was that she was seeing another manager in the same store- but that He was a married man with kids. So, I do the reading, and of course that comes out in the cards. Now, I’m kind of trying to play it off lightly, because I assumed she knew he was married. Literally EVERYBODY else in the store knew he was married, apart from her. The reading really devastated her, and I tried to tell her “Leave him, its not worth it. He’s a liar and that will never change.” But the heart wants what it wants I guess because she kept seeing him- until his wife found out, and we had to get the cops called before a fight went down in the parking lot. And yes, before anybody asks- this was at a Walmart 😂

Her best friend storms in and yells; "Have you seen the paper?!" Before my mother could answer she continued. "Clearly you haven't because I got here first."
She proceeds to slam a section on the Sunday paper down and there is a picture of my mother's husband and some young woman announcing their marriage. Her father was some rice farmer and really proud his girl found an upstanding man to marry. They were gonna have a blow out wedding.
Mom looked at her best friend and sighed getting up. "Thought I was gonna have a day off." They got in her friends car and drove the hour to the woman's house/farm. At the door they met the farmer and his daughter. Mom's husband wasn't there.
Holding up a photo of my 5 siblings (I wasn't born yet) mom said; "Look hunny if you want him you can have him but you need to have him file divorce papers first and sign complete custody of the kids to me."
Mom said it got super quiet as the farmer got red in the face and the woman was holding back tears. Obliviously they didn't get married and her first husband showed up at her house 3 day later with a black eye and several bruises.

Aside from that, we spend money on things like groceries, a weekend trip to see a friend a few hours away, and adopting a puppy.
When we broke up, he told me he had "wasted" 10k on me. A week later, when he called my crying to get back together with him and i refused, it suddenly bumped up to 15k wasted. A month later, he told me i had drained his savings of $30,000 that he had been saving for a house 😂😂 "I had $30,000 in this account and now its empty! All wasted on you!!" 😂😂

If you decide to get married then you get to meet up with a wedding planner that helps out but he has a strict rule about boundaries and if your partner says they don’t want their face in cake and the other partner wants to do it anyway that the wedding planner himself would call off the wedding 😂 it’s an awesome little bit and I love the game devs / writers put that in

this is actually seen quite often in new marriage couples counseling. The 'cake in the face' stunt is a very high contention event. Additionally, how that plays out can be one of several indicators (although a good one) about how the relationship health is doing. IF it's playful for both parties and doesn't seem aggressive, then the playfulness is good, BUT if it's aggressive or contentious, then the relationship (marriage) will quickly end.
ALSO, if a boundary is set BEFORE the wedding, and this is one of them, THEN the spouse violates that boundary, they are likely to also violate OTHER boundaries in the future. ESPECIALLY if they KNOW that you have a problem with it before it happens... this is NOT a good sign that the marriage will last...

Exactly, my parents have adorable wedding photos of both of them laughing, with frosting smeared across their faces. It's super cute, and they're clearly having fun with it, but a violated boundary is a violated boundary.

    • @ASavageEye
      @ASavageEye Před 6 měsíci

Smushing a piece of cake in someone's face because you think it is funny is NOT a violation of boundaries and does not indicate anything about the future of the marriage. I would bet every penny I have that if it was the woman who did it and the man complained everyone would be calling him names and saying it was just a joke.
I am going to assume, because you gave the indication, that you are a couples counsellor. If not then everything you said is a total lie anyway but I dont want to assume that. If you are saying that you get loads of couples coming to you with this issue and that your automatic assumption is the marriage is now doomed to failure then YOU are a very bad counsellor and in dire need of retraining. If you cannot even help a couple get past something this small then how could you ever hope to get them past something serious like losing a child or one partner cheating?

@@ASavageEyeYou keep commenting this nonsense and people keep telling you how and why you're wrong, but you're ignoring it. It's about boundaries. If your partner can't respect your boundary with one thing thing, that could potentially harm you, then obviously they'd likely not respect other boundaries. And clearly, in most of the recent videos we've seen, it wasn't playful smashing of the cake on the mouth, the men literally did WWE level take downs on their wives to do it. Some bride even had her face cut, so no... it's not the version of the tradition anyone is used to. If I say no cake smashing in my face before the wedding and my partner does it, then that's akin to assault.

For those wondering, yes it can be quite dangerous to shove someone’s head into what was likely a multi-tier wedding cake. They often have stands/ plates in the middle of the cake supporting each layer that you don’t see from the outside but could easily cause some damage were one to fall into it/ have their face shoved in it. In the first video, my husband was exactly the same. I got pregnant as soon as we got married. My husband was horrified, even though we agreed to start trying from our wedding day. It was more a symbolic thing for me, but I fell pregnant right away. I was thrilled, my husband was totally aggressive about it. He never forgave me for falling so quickly. He was cold as ice from that point.
Like I had any control when I would fall pregnant. We had been together for 8 years before we got married, so having a baby right away wasn't a big deal, for me anyway. After that he was just like that bloke in your first video. I felt like I was a homeless person, that had no money. I had to ask his permission for any money or if I could go out, which was usually no. As far as he was concerned he went out to work, so all the money was his. Didn't matter that I cleaned house, cooked dinner, cared for our son, did his washing and everything in between. Needless to say after 4 years of marriage, I left with our son and haven't looked back. On top of all this he was abusive with me and my son. He was only 3 when I left my ex and I raised him alone. I've never remarried and never will. I like my own company and my own money, choices and peace. I answer to no one and love it. Relationships are pointless and overwhelming. Living under my own rules and choices, I will never give up. I have my son, 25, and my 2 Cavalier King Charles spaniels, that's all the love I need and it's unconditional. ❤❤❤❤

In my case it happened once with a friend in junior high in a pool (and I was very chlaustraphobic) , but I stopped talking to her afterwards. With a sibling, he did that once when we were both under 10 yrs old; he was around 8 and I was like 5, but we're pretty grown up now and have both matured a little, so meh. I can't imagine what went through that woman's mind when she just married someone and they shoved her face in a cake when she explicitly told him not to. I'd divorce him too. And call the police. Maybe not in that order.

My petty story: My best friend and her husband threw their annual June blow out party. One year this girl came to the party, (don't know who invited her), she kept flirting with my BF husband and he kept trying to move away from her. That year they had a big fire pit with logs all around it and marshmallows were on the menu. This girl comes over to him and actually sits on his knee. My BF and I were sitting right behind him and he looked back at us like what do I do?!? She, (BF), was livid, and he really didn't know what to do without causing a scene. But ohhhh, I did. I roasted several marshmallows until they were good and gooey. Then proceed to lightly rub them all through her hair. Then I roasted a few more just for good measure. Once I was finished with her "make over", I then took her by the arm and led her away from him. I told her that her behavior was unacceptable and she needed to leave. We found out a few days later that she had to have all her beautiful hair cut off because the marshmallows would not come out and she couldn't figure out how marshmallows got in her hair much less that much of it. I'm not usually a petty person but 1. I had a few in me that night and 2. She deserved it.

Well my mom and dad took a slice of their cake, ate some of it, then took a little and slathered it on each other's faces for fun. I think that's better than forcibly shoving the bride or groom fully in the cake.

My parents had a very contentious divorce so I was determined that I would not get divorced. I almost left my ex several times before I actually finally got out of it. I should have left him the first time I almost did. He would spend all of our money and insist that I work second and sometimes even third jobs then complain that I was never home. Just because I had the college degree he felt that I should take care of him. I actually lost my profession because I couldn't take the classes I needed to take to renew my licensing. After I lost my position he actually said to me that I had to find a way to make the same amount of money that I had lost for us. I started working 3 jobs and still came up short of my former income. He refused to get a second job or a better paying one saying I just wasn't trying hard enough to find a new position in my field. I had applied all over the state, but because of the hiring policies for my profession at that time I was overqualified and couldn't find one. We would have had to move to another state to find one and he refused to do that. After a couple of years working 3 jobs my doctor told me that if I didn't get rid of some of my stress I would be dead in 3 to 5 years of a heart attack or stroke. That's when I finally got the nerve to leave him.

I was a guest at a wedding, were the bride went nuts at the reception, ripped her wedding dress from her body revealing her tatas...
Started when the bride decided to say an unprepared speech, proceeded to slate her mother and sister for moving to another country, basically said she's successful despite them. Never said a word about her husband, bridesmaids or anything to do about the wedding. People were stunned.
Soon after went outside for air, followed by husband to see if she was okay. Gone for some time her MIL went to get them back inside because all the guests were waiting. The bride, proceeded to yell and swear at the MI. The husband told her not to talk to his mother like that.
The bride flew into an even crazier rage... the husband and his mother got in a car and left the wedding while the bride was throwing chairs and smashing flowers, she ripped her wedding dress from her body reavealing her 'assets'. The brides father covered her with his jacket and baby locked her in the back seat of a car and that was the end of the marriage and wedding. All before mains were served. It was a SHOCK to say the least.

It is customary in traditional weddings, especially in the Catholic church, that the bride and groom spend the night before the wedding apart. They are not supposed to see each other again until they meet each other at the altar. Thats why the bachelor and bachelorette parties used to be after the rehearsal dinner the night before, and all the bridesmaids would stay with the bride, and the groom his groomsmen. But in more recent years no one does the party the night before the wedding anymore because they prefer to actually make it to the wedding and not be puking into a toilet bowl all day.
