So, it drives the best, handles the best, is the most fun on the track, probably going to end up being the fastest in terms of the lap time, highest top speed on the straight, looks the best inside and out, is the most luxurious car here together with the Bentley, it's not track focused as much as some others are, so it's still a properly comfortable and luxurious GT cruiser for the road, doesn't look ridiculous and doesn't seem like it has a bunch of aftermarket aero bits fitted to it that make it look like a Transformer, and it has a bulletproof drive train .... do we have a winner?

+Montenegro Montenegrin In previous try Nismo had problems with power in the upper rev range and the brakes were running out. Plus, it had severe understeer. When it was compared to ZO6, all those problems have been sold. There was zero understeer. But yeah, this GT S chassis is great.

+N1GHT5 Plus, you can actually have a lot of fun on public roads with a Cayman - any of them. I sort of feel like absurd horsepower and torque should be a disqualifier for a "driver's car". What's the point in a driver's car that won't show you its capabilities unless you're on a track?
+Mike Doolittle Most of the people that buy these 500hp cars never go to the track and still manage to have plenty of fun driving them. Granted most people also don't really go backroading to near the cars potential either.
Adam S Oh I don't doubt they're a blast. The guy I know who owns an AMG GT S also owns a Ferrari 430 and some kind of v12 Bentley. He told me about how the cars compare once you get past 140mph, and I was like, "On a track?" and he goes, "Uhh, no."
Personally though I'd rather save the horsepower and have a car that can be thrashed around on public roads *and* still performs on the track.
+Mike Doolittle actually i think you can have more fun with the amg on the road, the cayman is just so balanced and competent that if you want to feel it dancing on its toes you have to drive stupidly hard. the amg is a totally different character, it's much more playful

The sound on this video does not do the car justice. I had listened to many videos of this car's exhaust, but none can compare to the amazing, drool-inducing sound of the real thing. Best sounding car I have ever heard.
i don't think randy has ever had negative comments about an AMG, not saying he has about this one. but every AMG car he's reviewed that i've seen has always been positive. Good stuff AMG

I was just going back and watching some old laps and realized that the clean bodied 503 bhp AMG GT is only half a second off the 622 bhp SLS AMG Black Series with all the aero bits. Wow. Just WOW.
The sound it makes.
His reactions and compliments alone have made this car my dream car if I ever get rich enough to afford one. As much as I wanted the Z06 to do well, it's shortcomings are apparent. As well as the CTS V did, this thing did better. I wouldn't mind settling for the CTS V if I am able to afford it before this simply because of the extra passenger space, though.

I'd love to see some data on which cars ate fronts, which ate rears (not the ones you guys burned off), how many laps each car was able to use its tyres how many laps till they were canvas...?

This car uses dynamic suspension spool valve dampers not manga ride like said in video. You can also find them on the one-77, the z/28, and red bull f1 car from 2009- 2013. They were made and developed by multimatic.
+Alvin Singh He's talking about powertrain mounts (they adjust the stiffness of the coupling between the powertrain and chassis) not suspension. As for the suspension only the base GT model gets spool-valve hydraulic suspension, the GT S gets more expensive adaptive dampers from Sachs.

These are amazing. I've been lucky enough to sit in one, and it's just ridiculous. Engine sounds amazing, and the interior is downright opulent. The slightly less stratospheric GT might be the car to watch, though. As is often the case, few people who buy a car like this will actually take advantage of its performance capabilities since public roads don't come close.

I didn't watch picking the best driver's car yet but I think this may have a shot. I can see this AMG GT S putting power down like Randy feels it. Especially at 0:20, I think that's what ""rotation"" all about. The car rotate into the apex then the traction control/ ESP stops it when the yaw rate is over limit. But the rate of effectiveness from that traction/ ESP makes it a quicker more responsive car. It's like a RWD GTR Nismo. It weight less than the Nismo imagine it got an AWD lol. Also that electronically controlled mechanical limited slip differential plays its roll. Sharp handling isn't always about the front end, it's also depends on how the rear react. By the way, suspension caster, camber, weight transfer, they all plays their part. Talks about camber, I think the AMG GT S may have a steeper front camber than SLS. The engine as well, 479 lb/ft at just 1750 rpm. That's some instant power, most important the traction control can catch the spin. Anyway, I love this car.
The way Randy talks about this car... this could be the winner. I'd say between this and the GT4

I really enjoyed the ending credits. No music or commentary-just ecstasy for gear heads.
P.S. If you listen closely during the credits, you can hear Randy's racing suit get a little tighter.

I find the SLS way more attractive to look and hear but it's amazing how Mercedes managed to make the GTS so less expensive than the SLS

this car DEFINITELY has more than 503hp. 137mph is just shy of the ZR1/Viper TA, both with 640 and 650hp. But it's surprising that it's so much more hooked up than the original SLS

Yup, they even call it GTS like the 928 GTS. Even the drive-train setup is the same, V8 engine in the front and gearbox/trans-axle in the back. Its a modern day version of the Porsche 928 S4/GT/GTS line up...
