ATV Starter Motor Rebuild: Yamaha YFB250 Timberwolf ATV Project Part 5

The ATV wasn't starting, or even turning over for that matter. I traced it down to the old and dirty starter motor untouched from 1995. I ended up having to replace the starter relay as it was also bad.

Very sweet job! Thanks for sharing the video. I have a starter on my 1997 YFB250 Timberwolf I need to do the same rebuild on. Currently won't turn over. If you could post where you found the rebuild kit on Ebay, I'd appreciate it.

Go for it, it's worth saving the $20 or so extra dollars from buying the complete motor. It's a super simple rebuild, just make sure to get all of the carbon dust out of the housing with some electronic contact cleaner spray. Link for the rebuild kit is below, hope it helps!

Hi Js, I just looked through my email and I guess the listing for the kit was so old that it isn’t listed anymore. I remember that I just went on eBay and searched for a rebuild kit for the Timberwolf. The eBay account was called “mxgear”, you can contact them directly if you have trouble finding it elsewhere.
