Just about finished installing mine when I noticed there was only 3 oxygen sensor holes so thanks for clearing that up. I noticed that my steering shaft nut and bolt at 5:21 are touching so I'll have to grind off the extra 5/16'' of threads and one of my spark plugs are touching the header 'heat tape' and it may melt the rubber and I'll need to get gaskets and wire extensions Thanks for the help !
i have a question so on the passenger side on the stock header is there supposed to be a hole on it?
Not sure what you are refuring to, do you have a pic you can send?
did the dipstick tube need modifications?
Nope. No mods required
How long did this take would you say? I have a pair of long tube headers on the way and curious to see how long it took
With the lift, it really did not take much time at all. I spent more time modifying everything the way I wanted it, then the actual install. I was lucky by not having any bolts break off in the heads, but them breaking is a common issue and you can spend hours just removing broken studs. For us, we spent 6 hours from start to finish. I have also installed a new cam in it and had it dyno'd. For a big heavy truck, it runs pretty good.
@@BentOaksGarage did you get it tuned after installing just the headers?
@adamsveningson1830 after the header install, I did not tune it. But after the cam install, I did.
Hey man I have a question as I’m trying to do this on a similar truck. Did you not have any codes after installing the long tube headers? I do not have a aftermarket cam and am only looking to do long tube headers but want to make sure I won’t need to get it tuned.
@camtattersall8512 your cell will eventually come on for catalytic inefficiency, there are a couple ways around this, one is adding a spacer in the rear 02 bung holes to pull the 02 further out. The other is to have someone turn off the codes in the computer (usually cost about 150 bucks).
Headers link?
Cat delete and no check engine lights??
Yes, I completely deleted the cats. I didn't have one turn on for about 300 miles. But yes, it did come one. I ended up buying the HP Tuners MPVI3 amd a couple credits to turn off the DOD and Cats in the computer. No more light since then.
@BentOaksGarage thanks. Getting ready to do this myself.
What brand are these and I’ve been looking for a set for my Silverado but I don’t wanna get the wrong pair?
@@rgvghost2101 eBay stopped selling (non-emission) headers for off road use. The brand that I got were no name. The listing actually said - Stainless Steel Exhaust Manifold Headers for Chevy GMC 2007-2014 4.8L 5.3L 6.0L US $219.99
Once you clicked into it, you had to read the fine print that said these were a returned item but showed no signs of use or install.
