The price of these products are now making me drive the speed limit or budget a couple tickets in.
Thank you for the update video. See you on the forum. Spin
Cant wait for the results from the S. Fl testing group. :)
I have two issues, I want a laser jammer but they are illegal in S. Carolina, and I wouldn't want to install one in a car that I will only keep for about 7 years (average for me). However, I love watching all your videos.
Thanks😊

Some very cool features. But still needs something like a drive smarter app with a help or info banner on every setting and menu.
Most of the current third party Uniden apps offer some settings controls via the apps and I expect that functionality to be available on the R9 too.
I know you complained about the MRCD reception on your last review. Any improvements there?
Good question. IIRC Uniden was working on that, but I didn't see anything about that in the changelog and I don't know if it's been tested yet.
Thank you very much for all of your useful videos, i just have big problem with escort ci360 ,the problem is police front of my the antenna bar full but the problem is not alert by sound after 15 second get alert what i have to do is brand new ,i adjusted by your website all setting
Sorry could you provide a bit more info? I don't know if you're encountering something like low speed muting, for example. Could you provide a better description? You can also reach out to Escort or hop on the forums for tech support since that tends to work better than asking in a CZcams comment.
Yes sure, the problem is i was at traffic red light yesterday, but police was front of me the antenna part was full ,but not making any noise just the display was light up and signal antenna full bar, i was so sad because it didn't alert by sound it's brand new unit i purchased a few days back from ebay ,i had before for different car
You should really do a test on Stinger S8-50 and K Ka band filtering , it is truly good. Curious how it compares to R9 and 360Ci.
Yes I have one. Just waiting on my upcoming install to get it in the car.
I dunno I've been on the fence with getting a full system ALP but this is makign me change my mind after seeing the other shootout video. Pricing for the jammer system while expesnive aint too bad compared to what they want for installation down here in NYC. 10-15k for full install just seems crazy to me and it's why I still haven't pulled the trigger
That must be an ultra high end install with a lot of custom work for 15k lol
@@VortexRadar nope. Thats just standard install here in NYC. Despicable right
So would This or ALP be picked currently?
Do you have a setup guideline for the R9? Over the videos I've seen you have dabbled here and there on frequencies to block, but it would be good to have all in one.
Yep, right here: www.vortexradar.com/2024/02/how-to-setup-configure-uniden-r9-radar-detector-laser-jammer/
@VortexRadar awesome you have a good relation with DC from my area, will be using his settings. Team work makes dream work.
Do you know when Uniden will make changes to the R8 in terms of stealth? Because doesn’t the R9 use the R8 platform?
Any update on if the R9 Jammer Heads will be compatible with the R8 Unit? Thanks!
I've been trying to figure that out also as far as I know they are not compatible..... I'm pretty upset about it because I bought the r8 because they advertised it saying you could add the jammers
When is the Nextbase IQ 4k review? I’m waiting for your review before I buy it 😅
The reviews online have been pretty bad and I don’t have any plans to go review it myself now.
I wish that it could auto disable the jammer instead of pushing the PWR button to disable it. Then you could enable it again by pushing the PWR again
Any update on when the separate laser jammer for the r8 coming?
Hopefully soon. I asked yesterday and they were sorting out some issues they saw with the TPX unit. Sounds like they wanna share the results soon even before getting that all figured out and retested.
Any firmware update for the R7? If not is the R7 onthe way out? Could you please find out?
There is a new firmware update being tested, but I have no idea when it'll be released. You can find out more here: www.rdforum.org/threads/135412/
Any comparison between R9 and ALP on laser jamming performance?
Yep. I’m working on the video, but some initial results are here: www.rdforum.org/threads/136216/
@@VortexRadar thank you for the link. Such a great job.
The newer police radar units send out a signal that comes back as a tone. The higher the pitch, the faster someone is moving towards them. Once they zero in on which car is speeding, they then turn on the unit and capture the speed. Are there any manufacturers that are developing their radar detectors to counter act this?
The tone is just standard doppler shift and the resulting audio doppler. That only happens when the gun is transmitting.
The second part sounds like instant on which is when they start and stop transmitting to try and avoid alerting radar users.
I have a video going over this. You might wanna start here: czcams.com/video/WLOTCJUJoIk/video.htmlsi=lwnV_0tccGADdlF8
Thanks@@VortexRadar
What would be the reason to receive the lazer? Why not just jam the entire time?
Very important question. This is why: czcams.com/video/v0W4UgivQ30/video.htmlsi=nkfLFHu91kJisfiZ
Still going to stick with the Escort and ALP
This also detect normal radar instead of just lasers?
Sure, it's a radar detector too
Wow $4,000 !!!! Just pay for the speeding ticket !!! PS. Vortex is the best
4 grand to avoid tickets. I would love this thing, but damn...
Or jail
Uniden r9 vs uniden r8
Are you asking how they compare? R8 is a windshield mount radar detector. R9 is a custom installed radar detector that’s based off the R8 and also adds laser jammers.
@@VortexRadar yes
Also which one is more responsiveness
@@ivanmendoza4943You should watch his full R9 video where he probably already answered all your questions
omg thats 4 thousand dollars .
At this point, detector companies should offer face-less detectors & let cell phones become the main display. The 1st company to do this well will make bank, you're welcome detector companies!
Escort did that with the IQ. It sold poorly and was discontinued.
@@VortexRadar- Interesting, what year was the “IQ” released… I’m wondering if cell phones & related technology were as advanced as both industries are now(?)
@@__WJK__I’d never prefer this. I need my phone for navigation first and foremost. Waze. Whatever I install needs to come with its own independent screen.
I want Waze open with my radar because detectors only prevent instant ons and laser so well
@@JaredPaideia- Completely agree & that’s the beauty of the design… all you’d have to do is source a cheap new/used smart phone and “voila” now you’d have a dedicated display that’s completely separate from your main cell phone. Plus, given the fact the main defector wouldn’t need a display, that should make the main unit more affordable & also free up room for better detection components. Of course, the trick is, coming up with a display-less detector design & App that actually works/detects well.
