I ran 1.47 all over ca, nv and az and loved it. I never had a problem. I ran Mithheru's 1.47bugfix for a few days without any issues. HW 1.1.1 Just loaded up 150 international today. Looking forward to seeing how it performs. Keep the great videos coming.

I like my R4 well enough, but I really wish I had arrows. Kind of regret not getting an R7 or R8. Will you be updating your firmware?
@@jsimmons12 I updated the firmware when I got it. I do agree the arrows would be really nice...I am rethinking my choice of the R4. I do like how its affordable and small, but when I see a 33.8 or 34.7 Ka reading and don't know where its coming from it gets a bit stressful! I had one yesterday and it turns out the officer was on a side street trying to catch speeders and I was on a road next to him and I only saw him through a narrow alley way, but it took a good looking around to find him.
Great work as usual, I go back and forth between getting the R8 or V1G2 on my new M5, currently have an R7 in my other car

Glad you’ve found it helpful! Unlike power cables, there’s basically no cross compatibility between brands. They all use different connectors. Even the original Max360 had a different connector than the newer Max360 and other newer 360-series detectors.

Loving the range on the V1g2. Long time V1 user primarily in NJ/NY, was well worth the upgrade.
Same. I see no reason to try any of the other detectors, V1 has always treated me so well. V1g2 is a worthwhile upgrade just for the blind spot alerts (edit: lack of false alerts). I only run Ka & laser on the west coast

I am having a hard time connecting my R8 to the Apple software update tool. I have reloaded the software tool without any success . Do you recommend reseting the R8 to see if that fix the issue? I haven't had issues int the past with updating firmware. Any thoughts?
Uniden r8 updated 1.28 has rapid boot up, you can now set up speed camera range before you approach them 1000 up to 3000 ft. Make sure Mark recovery mode when updating your r8 or r4
The 3000 ft distance was in previous updates too. What do you mean by rapid boot? Like the self-test disabled?
@VortexRadar when you turn on your r8 rapidly goes through its self test. Uniden recommend you also click on recovery mode when updating.

Love the videos they have been very helpful. I was wondering I just recently picked up a Uniden DFR9 off of eBay used for 200$ did I get a good deal or would I have been better off getting something else. I currently live in Indiana I use my car for city and highway driving.

My biggest problem with radar detectors is the OLED displays, I’ve got an R3 and after one year it was totally useless as far as the display was concerned. Yes I can still use it off of the alerts alone, but you cannot read a single thing unless it’s pitch black dark off the display.
Same problem with my R3.
It took longer but eventually my Escort Max 360 display became difficult to read except at night.
What radar dector do you recomend for the 24 Tesla Model X
I tried redline 360c with M2 dash cam in Alberta Canada but received a ticket cause notified me at a very short range with no option to react, so I have to return it. I can send you a video which was taken from escort M2 dash cam as well

Can’t the police in australia detect that you have a radar detector ?
Two trivial issues that I have with my R3: (1) entering a camera radar area during non-restricted hours, the detector still warns. Since GPS signal includes time data, the firmware should (could?) be updated to not alarm during non-restricted hours. (2) Cannot mute detector until it completes verbalizing the Ka frequency.

I bought a v1g2 off ur videos and enjoy it greatly. Also added an r8 in the mix and has been very good as well. I've had escort 8500, 9500, and max 360. The WORST detectors I've ever used. Piles of tickets. The only place u get escorted to is the courtroom!

Very informative.Question.Want a detector for high speeds on backroads that would have long range detection with band/laser capability and not a lot of faults alerts. Would you recommend the Escort Redline 360c over others.

Yeah you can jump straight to any firmware you want

Hey man I've been out of the radar "game" since the R3. The last I heard was passport Valentine was the one that will never be detected, is there something new you can recommend for Ontario Canada? The O.P.P here can be hardcore sometimes.
My Escort app won’t work I can’t not login how can I use app to set my Escort 360
When in the car I need have my cell phone free. So I would prefer to use a radar detector alone and not in conjunction with a supporting app on my phone. I have an Escort 9100 and a Redline (the older one) and they are both very effective against KA which is almost the only threat in NJ by state or local police. I drive a lot and it seems (I may be wrong) that no local police use K. The state police use KA. I hate the idea of buying for me and also for my wife an expensive new detector but will if I can get one that will filter out K. Any suggestions?
The Uniden R3 also received an update. Do you know what was included with that one?

I wonder why the R8 didn’t get the Mazda filter update the R7 received.
My V1Gen2 has gotten really chatty. I know I can use an app to quite it down, but may just look at picking up the Redline 360C or the new one coming out at the end of the month.
Same with mine, but I just auto-launch apps when I get in the car. Without that, this thing would be pure trash and I'd rather just use my old Uniden.
I run the v1 driver app and for ten bucks it’s completely worth it
When I turn on my vehicle, the V1G2 auto powers on… the dedicated Android auto powers on and the JBV1 auto powers on and connects to the V1. (The ALP also auto power on 🤫). My v1 is not chatty at all. In my county the sheriff use k band very heavily, but outside of the county is mostly Ka only. Love the JBV1 app that will auto turn on/off k band (or anything I want) from county to county as I desire. Love my V1G2!!
…and now there is a sensitive selection for Ka band, so if you’re picking up Ka from down the road through the woods you can now turn that sensitivity down.
Thing about the redline, it’s slow to react on Ka. So you may get caught up with io that you’re not picking up down the road. Plus it’s MASSIVE in size. Eww

hm I haven’t heard many people still using the Redline EX. The R3 is likely better, but has some limitations for photo radar frequency ranges it can detect. I have the R3 along with several other detectors. It is a very good detector. Since the pandemic hit the cops have stopped enforcement of most of the rules of the road where I live and where I use to see radar each week I now haven't seen any in more than a year. Will probably sell all my detectors as they are almost useless now
The r3 is a great mid tier radar. Absolutely worth the money. Had one for a year before I upgraded to the r7.

Use Uniden's update software. I have several tutorials that show you how to do it. If you get stuck, the forum is the best place for tech support.

We've reached a plateau in detectors. Not much change, not much performance difference in the iterations of each.

Is there a laser jamming device that will work like a radar detector ( windshield mount ). I would like to use it in different cars.
Unfortunately not. Laser is a thin beam aimed at your front and rear plates so you need something really close to those target areas.
I have Uniden R7 with th latest firmware installed. I installed it on my rearview mirror. I have passed CHPs and Police crusiers in city and Radar doesn't detect their KA band till I'm able to see them across the street. It looks like whatever they using is blocking my radar from detecting them early. Radar goes off with almost full signal when its able to detect.
If its like that, then its waste of money having an expensive detector ! Need to know if all R7s like this or if its just mine

What do you mean by a Mazda CX-5 filter? Do they transmit radar?
Yes for their blind spot system. It’s a pesky system that causes basically every detector to false alert.
Whatever you're lacking it should update so you go right to the top one

You can go straight to any version you want, even downgrade too.

Not a huge fan of the Nextbase or Aukey offerings. The Cansonic is a bit of a one trick pony and kinda oversized. Personally I’d just do an A229 series or a U3000 if parking recording is a priority and call it a day.

huh? Just open Drive Smarter in CarPlay the way you would Spotify or Waze.

Even in iPhone CarPlay settings it’s not an option listed.

The biggest problem I have had and not really sure if they have fix this but the main reason for having a detector for me is interstate travel and all these tractor trailers trucks have radar and effect my detector so badly that it basically make the detector useless

QUESTION PLEASE- Sorry to bother you with this but I honestly think you are the only person anywhere that can answer this accurately. And it would be nice to have a straight answer and I assume I'm not the only one confused about the current Escort product line so might help others also.
Can you please enlighten me about the current state of the hardware with escort. Assuming I wanted to get the best performing device Escort has right now, besides the custum installed redline obviously, would the best device they have available right now still be the 360C Camera since it has supposedly the best hardware in it, which when released they said it has the same hardware as the flagship Redline 360C model with the additional benefit of the camera built in, but that was before the Mark II and the new hardware revision of the Redline 360C which seems apparent even if they aren't calling it a Mark II.
Would you say it's likely that the latest revisions of the 360 and 360C as the Mark II versions would have the most advanced, latest hardware, and would thus have the best range and BSP? And would it be safe to assume this new Redline revision that they didn't differentiate but obviously updated has these same upgrades so would be the best performing unit since it seems the Max 360C Camera didn't get these hardware revisions?
I am Trying to upgrade right now and reading different things. I just want to upgrade to the best unit they have and was under the assumption that would be the 360 Camera, but now I am second guessing that since the later hardware revision of the redline 360C and the new 360C Mark II now have newer improved hardware and would then now have better performance than the 360C Camera and the Redline 360C with the older hardware revision.
It seems like they should have made a Redline 360C Mark II also, but they instead just improved the hardware which is apparent with how different hardware revisions are updatable to different firmware versions. The older revision is only updating to the same firmware version as the old Max 360C while the redline being sold now is updatable to the latest firmware the same as the mark II.
Sorry for the crazy long question just want to get the right device and not fall for their marketing BS and confusing specs and literature and be stuck with an inferior device since I only upgrade every few years, so I want to get the best when I do.

Lots of their detectors have similar backend processing for things like filtering, but the Redline has the best antenna/horn for the longest range. It outperforms the MaxCam.

Hi. I am aware that you are in America and test all the radar detectors there. However, I am in England, and I am looking to purchase an Escort International redline 360c. I have read some English comments on Amazon saying that they don't seem to work. I have also read a comment saying that they had not set it up correctly. Could this be true? It costs £800 on Amazon, and it is not cheap. Have you heard anything about them not working in England? Can you recommend any English websites I can go on for some information?

haha CZcams lets you adjust the playback speed. Try it at 0.75x

I like my R7 the performance is great. But my god is it noisy and the auto gps sucks compared to Escorts - hopefully this firmware update quiets it down
I've watched a handful of your videos, I've watched numerous other ones, I've read articles, etc..... But there's SO MUCH info and so many detectors it's hard to keep all the info / data straight!!!!! What would be your best suggestion for me - I live in a larger city, about 1M people, I do some Interstate (I-80, I-29) typical Midwest interstates, my vehicle is 3 years old with only 11k miles - so you can see I don't drive a whole lot, etc... There is a much better product for those that want/need a HARD -Wired power cord so they can use the Parking Mode of their dash cam.
NO NEED TO BUY a hard wire power cord & then have the hassle of hard wiring it or paying someone several hundred dollars to hart-wire it for them.
Garmin OBD Power Cord - will provide power 24/7 to any USB device. Simply plug one end of the power cord into their vehicle's OBD port & the other end into their dashcam - easy peasy.
I sincerely hope you will say something about the Garmin OBD power cord alternative. I have little doubt everyone will prefer the Garmin OBD power cord in preference to any manufactures HARD-Wire power cord.
They are convenient. I use one in my Audi with the U3000. It wouldn’t do the ignition trigger properly though and car mechanics usually advise against pulling power long term from the OBD port because it’s not designed for that (it’s a diagnostic port) and has lead to issues in multiple vehicles. It’s not guaranteed of course and many times it’s okay, but there are many good reasons to use a traditional hardwire even if it’s less convenient than the OBD variant.

My Redline360c only updates to 1.12.
I think that means its the old hardware they're being funny with actually disclosing what has the latest hardware. Yours is only updating to the same firmware that's on the 360C so i would say it doesn't have the upgraded hardware that's in the newer hardware revision of the redline360c which is updating to the same firmware that the mark II is.
