  • Uniden R9 laser jammer review & test: The best laser jammer ever?
    RadarBusters and Veil have once again partnered together to bring you this novel content that (at least for now) you won’t find anywhere else. 😝
    For those that have followed this industry for any long period of time, you’ll know that in 2008, I discovered the performance benefits of Ka-band segmentation.
    That discovery has revolutionized the radar detector industry and now every top-tier radar detector offers that feature to maximize radar detection performance.
    I’m a tinker, an engineer, a empirical results analyzer.
    So, it was inevitable that I would “wonder off the reservation” again and tinker with the Uniden R9’s settings and go outside the officially recommend configuration settings of the Uniden R9’s custom installed radar detector and laser jammer.
    I’ve actually done it on two fronts, both with radar and laser and in both instances have made some wonderful discoveries that I will be sharing with all y’all so that you can experience the highest levels possible with the Uniden R9.
    We conducted these tests some time ago and have allowed Uniden to review our findings but we now have been given the go ahead to share these results of our tweaking.
    I’m also thrilled, unlike the first time around, that Uniden has been extremely receptive to our findings both on the laser as well as the radar front.
    So what have we done here to take the laser jamming performance to a sublime level?
    The short answer is by the reassignment of the laser jamming heads RX/TX roles, a novel feature exclusive to Uniden.
    I had been evaluating the PTs I had been getting with our previous Uniden R9 tests and experimented with ways to address them both with installation tweaks as well as configuration changes.
    The approach I settled upon, seemed logical even if it was unsupported or untested by the manufacturer.
    I couldn’t be happier with the outcome which has led me to believe that the new Uniden R9 is the best laser jammer we've ever tested and reviewed.
    We can't guarantee that this configuration in every circumstance will result in the dramatic improvements we witnessed, but it's worth noting the possibilities.
    In our particular installation, we are keeping the configuration modified as is.
    Our recommended Uniden R9 Laser Jammer TP Settings:
    TP1/TP3 - TX
    TP2 - RX
    TP4/TP6 - TX
    TP5 - RX
    Just as Uniden turned the industry on its head with the radar detectors in 2017, so they will be with their laser jammers.
    It’s only a matter of time before the Uniden R9 laser jammer becomes available in a stand-alone product and when it does, we expect it to be a very hot commodity, indeed.
    RadarBusters and Veil have invested time and resources in assisting Uniden making the R9 better in a number of respects, so we would certainly appreciate your support in purchasing one from us so we can continue doing good work:

    Good to know. The results may differ if you had a front license plate. I have used a replica non reflective front plate for 10 years or so.

    Nice results, BUT $4000 ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! WTF, that's insane, especially given the actual cost to mfg!!!!!

      Typical pricing for a custom installed unit, in fact a bit less. Not cheap for sure, though.

    beware Northern Kansas coming into Nebraska very hilly and maybe he got lucky and just turned it on as we were passing each other but if he did he was quick. My R8 went off as we were 2 car lengths apart.

    Awesome, but are people really spending 4k on laser jammers? Is there a reasonably priced version in older tech?

    • @RadarBusters
      @RadarBusters  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Indeed they do. We’ve sold a good number of them and their price point is actually lower than other systems.

      I’ve got state cops that are in the same spots all the time but they rotate around. They scan plates and pull folks over for no insurance. I’m assuming that’s a laser system? Would these laser jammers fight against those?

    does this have modes where it turns off after a certain amount of time or is it easy to turn off when you get back down to the speed limit?

    • @RadarBusters
      @RadarBusters  Před 10 měsíci +1

      The R9 can be set to auto stop with varying times or simply set to stop jamming with a simple push of the button.

    would love the R9 but can't justify spending $4k. the TPX 3 head for $949 feels like the best value today still

    • @RadarBusters
      @RadarBusters  Před měsícem

      The TPX is currently the best bang for the buck laser jammer no doubt. In fairness to the R9, it is a complete laser jammer and radar detection system. So it’s not an apples to apples comparison. If and when Uniden releases a separate jamming system only, then we can have a better comparison.
      Relative to other complete custom installed systems, the R9 still wins in value and performance.

    Will this work with r8

    • @RadarBusters
      @RadarBusters  Před 10 měsíci

      At the moment it is a complete system with radar, but will eventually come as a jammer only and then will easily integrate with other Uniden detectors.
