Good content as always brother! Appreciate it!
Thanks Chris! Really appreciate the support!
Thanks for your videos this week. I’m learning a lot. I retire from the military next spring and hotshot is what I want to do. I never thought about leasing on with a company so now that is my next research project. Thanks again and I look forward to more of your videos.
Not a problem at all! Thank you for your service and glad to help out in any way that I can!
If your running non cdl do the dot officers or anyone bother you to much about tint or tuned/deleted trucks
I live in North GA but I've been all over the place Hauling loads "currently box/strait truck" but as I said I'm from the east coast and I'd much rather haul out towards the west anyday than going up the east coast lol but yea my favorite place to haul is in the midwest as well.. great vid and great series of vids thanks..
Thank you very much!
Thanks Paul for that lol, a fellow box trucker, I live in MN, I like to haul or send my driver to midwest only, once in a while we go outside midwest. Last week, I saw a load in New Richmond WI, 60 miles away from me , I took Amazon load there so no DH. WI -Gainsville GA, 1147 miles I managed to ask for $2500 , I normally ask for more in this region. When I got to GA I regretted coming. Imagine brokers offering 1.45, 1.47, I don't do such rate in midwest. I had to move to Nashville where I got something better to Kansas, then another one to Des Moines IA. These brokers are ready to eat more than us so we must finesse the beat rate we can get, I feel so sad yesterday 😢, I went to pick a load in IA which was later canceled tue to the size of the pallets, I got my TONU though, Glad I pushed for $1550 for 569miles. He was going to offer 1200 before. On getting to the office I saw a note/invoice on my BOL how the company budgeted $2800 for that load. I always know brokers are liars anyway . He told me I have taken almost all his profit by asking for $1550. To me midwest is the best, all day yesterday there are loads paying over 2.30pm sitting on MN boards, in GA etc 1.5 load is gone in seconds .
@@tanylogisticsgroupllc7052 yea most brokers are like car salesmen lol if you get what I'm saying but yea we hv to eat to thier are plenty of us and downs in what we do but hey I love it but we got to watch out for ourselves cause the brokers sure don't lol be safe out thier my friend
@@paulriversred738 Yes Paul. We will do our best and get the best rate where we can. Brokers don't care about us, i hate that and I give them harsh when I can. A broker in TQL once told me you are just in a box truck and I am giving you what you asked for same rate i offer Semi for a full 53ft same distance . My response wasn't friendly. Same TQL has called me today, asking if I am or my driver is somewhere in IA.. When they need you, they will act like a submissive cat. Keep getting the bag, stay safe too .
IF havent already...
You should do LEARNING TIE DOWNS 101 or 101 TIE DOWNS FOR DUMBIES 😂
but for real... Not everyone knows about tie downs n how oftwn to check. Where n how and how often 👍
The path you took is exactly what I was looking at. Thanks for the reinforcement. How did you find and decide who to lease on with?
Not a problem at all. It took a lot of research on Facebook. For me, the biggest thing to look for is transparency. I wanted to work with someone who I believe I can trust and would lead me down the legal path.
Sometimes you have to take the good loads and sometimes you get loads that don't pay as well but welcome to trucking
Good video man, I’m in the process of getting my cdl. Will having new authority make it hard to find decent loads ?
The first 90 days of a new authority do make it more difficult but every company you see on the road has gone through it so it is by ZERO means impossible.
@@shipleytransport3211 only reason I’m going cdl instead of non cdl, is because I’m trying to be home everyday or every other day… I heard having cdl expands your options on finding more loads
@@boiedy12 it absolutely can. A CDL and the proper equipment can open a lot of doors. With a CDL, you can work construction, grain hauling, and a lot of stuff like that and be home every night. Hotshot is a lot harder to be home every night but it’s certainly possible.
Can you show a link where I can get the books that u are talking about please?
I’ll put that in my next video but you can find them on Google as well.
Only problem with starting
with RV - we have exemptions for a trailer over -10k… regular hot shots don’t ..
@@darrenrich3492 that only applies to drivers that reside in certain states. Starting by being leased into an RV Transport company allows them to ensure you’re legal while you gain experience.
Better off hauling with the front towards the back. I've seen those doors pop open hauling them that direction. Those door glasses ain't cheap. 700 or so through deere.
I appreciate the insight. I’ll remember that for next time!
Do any hotshot drivers travel with a companion
How much weight can you carry if the combined weight of the truck/trailer is
26,000 minus the weight of the truck and trailer will give you your load limit. Then just make sure you aren’t over on any of your axels or tires.
So my gcwr is 28k pounds on my dually would you say that’s enough for hot shot trucking?
Why have a dually truck with such light loads?!
How is that even close to legal- with non cdl? I see-5k weight? What weight can your 9990 trailer haul?
So because I made the choice to get a CDL as I stated in the Day 1 video, I did not have the trailer derated. I also went over how and why I’m still running Non-CDL legally in that video.
If I could tow hot shot at the same trailer load weights as exempted RV weights- prolly wouldn’t get a cdl- but, gonna have to.
If nothing else- you can buy a truck Amd trailer setup to do cdl 35+,000 pounds- wayyyyy cheaper than a decent pick up Amd hot shot trailer! And be cheaper to run on the long run! Way easier to get 800+,000 miles from a class 7 or 9 truck.
@@darrenrich3492 currently you legally can. You are right though. A CDL will probably be required for everyone soon (At least it seems like that to me. I could be wrong.)
How can I hook up with you I live in dayton ohio need to start working asap I do have a 2021 3500hd but no trailer yet but will buy a jp asap! I'm struggling with covid right now and I'm about to lose my job December 1st, I've towed campers for many years I currently own a 40 foot toy hauler in which I have no problems hauling. Just need help at this point and I'm willing to get my cdl not a lazy person ready to do what it takes to take care of my way of life
Securing loads- do it legal - then use a extra chain or two! Just for safety… my recommendation. I always over chain anything…
Absolutely. The worst thing that can happen is to lose a load or part of a load and hurt or kill someone.
Can we lease on with you?
That’s a good question. We are not currently brining anyone on. Looking to hopefully do that around November. Check back with me closer to then!
@@shipleytransport3211 thank you very much.
@@leannollendorf151 not a problem!
