I agree that placing the license plate where they did is better than most, but what if you need to have the ramp straight up and down? It can't be seen in that configuration. Thanks for sharing, seriously considering Diamond C.
Seen a few things in your video...Make sure to get some nipple covers on those inverted brake fluid zerks. How much are brake pad and rotor replacements? We gotta know how much out the door!

What is the GVWR on the trailer
Hey Craig! Thanks for the review. I am considering a Diamond C as my first trailer. One of the things that has me worried is the Engineered Beam Neck. I heard the Neck is 9' in length. If I purchase a Crew Cab pickup and get a 40', I hear the overall length may be longer than the law allows of 65'. I hear Big Tex has 8' Neck, and with a 40' trailer it measures right up to 65'. Is that why you went with 30 + 5? Any insight on this possible length issue?
If you go to the Diamond C website they actually show the exact dimensions. I chose the 30+5 because it fits my needs best with running non-CDL weights. With my setup right now, I’m right at 60’ in total length. If I were you, I’d check out their website and measure everything out as close as possible. I’ve never owned a Big Tex but I’ll say that this DC is AMAZING so far. Heads and tails above anything else I have pulled so far. Appreciate the question and feedback!
You are correct. You cannot run a 40 foot trailer with a 9 foot beam, on a crew cab with an 8 foot box, and be under 65feet or less. Now... you could with a Regular cab or Extended cab. Or need to get a 35 foot trailer. The shocker air bag company did come out with a 9=12inch offset goose-neck adapter you may want tpo check out
Would you happen to know what the curb weight of your trailer fully set up is?
How low was Diamond C willing to go on derating that trailer?

I have never had an air ride trailer so I can’t say. There are more possible fail points but from what a lot of other peoples experience, they ride amazingly.
So if you didn’t de-rate the trailer, and the GVWR of the trailer is 18,000 pounds, and your truck is 13,000 pounds. That’s over 26,000. How does that work if you are non CDL?

The factory rates these are 18,000 lbs if they aren’t derated.
So what’s the gvwr on this trailer
My trucks GVWR is 12250 and I looked up that trailer and it says the GVWR is 15500 thats over the 26001 lbs?. I dont understand how the weight works out for noncdl. Do they not consider the GVWR of vehicles you'd haul?
So the GVWR is 18,000 standard but to run Non-CDL, you can get it derated.

Between 10,000 and 12,000 LBS depending on exactly how much it weighs (depending on how it is optioned out will impact the weight so I don't want to give an exact answer).

WHY wouldn't you opt to get 10k axles for a trailer that is 40 feet long ?
At that point, I’d be running purely CDL weights.

How heavy is that trailer and truck
My guess is the trailer is around 6,500 lbs. empty. don't know about the truck.
I have not weighed them together yet but once I do, I'll post it!
