Assembly Review -- Legend Hobby 86" A-1 Skyraider S.E.A. Camo ARF

- Here's my assembly review for the Legend hobby A-1 Skyraider 86" ARF. This is an extremely impressive model that assembles into a nice and scale version of the Skyraider. And if you saw in my first flights video ( • From the Field -- Lege... ) the airplane flies wonderfully! I opted to go electric on this one so as to keep the scale integrity of the cowl. Also, I've installed the Robart air retracts which work great and hold air quite literally for weeks (if not longer). I'm currently working on the repaint and weathering video which will be posting soon, but in the meantime be on the look out for some recent flight videos in her new colors. :) Full article is available at thercgeek.com/Skyraider #Skyraider #TheRCGeek #socool

Enjoyed the video. Always learn something. I see your friend in the background working on his T-33 to P-80 conversion. Seeing his project I decided to convert my T-33 to a TV-2. Getting ready for paint as I write this. Thanks again guys 😊
Thanks! I may have ordered a t33 for myself to convert into a p80 as well, haha! His came out so sweet! I’ve been considering a TV-2 also. I like the looks of the orange and white schemes.
Hey hey..
Another great video !
I need these to keep me motivated and stay positive about getting back to flying models again.
A bad brain aneurism in Oct 2019 had me grounded for the 2020 season. Keep the vids flowing and hopefully i can fly SAFELY in a few months. ✌👊👍
Thanks, I’m hoping for many flights for you in 2021! Sounds like you’ll be out there soon
I like your RC geek team mate. It so reminds me of working in your Mom and Dads hobby shop . Spent a lot of Saturdays there when i should have been flying.
Great vid and seeing it flying it really is a great build with all the good stuff. I loved the shot of you making the air retract noises. Awesome stuff Geek.lol
Sweet Sandy!!!
Thanks! 😊
Another great vid Chris ! Don't forget the sound module :)
Thanks! Yes indeed on the sound system. I’ll touch on the final setup and operation of it in my flight review.
Hello RC Geek,
Man what a great video, very detailed covered all the bases!!! Fantastic job Sir!! Well done!! I look forward to follow your channel!!
Keep it in the green Brother!!
Doug
Thank you so much! So Glad you have found the info helpful.
Turning head pilot wow!
Really amazed how you fit it all in 20 odd mins. Great looking set up. The main body of the plane looks strange to me, no idea why. But loved the radial round the engine. Look forward to the re-paint 👍🏻
Thanks! The skyraider has a very unique look for sure. This one is pretty good in terms of outline actually.
I did buy the seagull P-47 little bunny so thanks for the heads up on GATOR-RC
and truly beautiful jet, wish someone would make it in a 90mm EDF!
YOUR DA MAN!!! VERY COOL BRO!! 🤠🤠🎊🎊🎊🎉🎉🍾🎆🎆
Still can't get over how good looking this plane is. I saw a P47 drop live bombs I'm looking to see if I can find any. If anyone knows where or a website get back to me. I hope you're feeling better Chris👍
Nice plane ! I've seen the real one, and as you said this model looks the part !!!
Thanks!
Nice detailed build! Where did you get the faux-radial model? Can you share links? Thanks!
This it: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3844442
@@Thercgeek Thanks! It would be cool if you put a link to the model in the description for others, and gave a shoutout to the original modeler. (He’s a good buddy of mine and worked quite hard on it) 😎👍
It’s a really great design. I thought I had linked it, but it’s hard to remember it all. I’ll add it.
Chris, Hipe you can help from your knowledge. The owners of Shockwave appeard to have retired just after I purchased the system.
I have installed the Shockwave in my 86 inch Skyraider A1.
The engine start sound plays when advance the throttle a little.
But the main engine sound (increasing speed) does not happen, the Engine start just continues to loop.
Any ideas? Robert
Hi there, I got my Skyraider and I was wondering what Robart restracts you are using, I cannot find them on Robart's website. Thank you in advance and good job with the build.
Sorry for the delayed response. There’s actually a link to the landing gear in the description: bit.ly/SkrdrGear
Where did you get the dummy radial engine on the 86'' skyraider. It looks great.
Thanks! I found it on thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3844442
Hi what is the issue with installing electric retracts to the Sky Raider in reference to the gear doors? I was considering buying it but now I have doubts.
Assuming you’re using the robart electric retracts, If you set it up per the instructions, there’s an interference with the rotator bar for the doors that runs through because the electric retracts are slightly longer. Truthfully, I’d recommend the pneumatic gear. They’ve been 100% reliable from the get go.
@Thercgeek Sir, thank you for the quick reply and educating me. Seriously, it's a toss between the A1 and the new T-28 that's coming out.
Nice 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Chris following the build with mine where to find the pilot?
I’m pretty sure I linked it in the description, but it came from warbirdpilots.com
thanks Chris :) @@Thercgeek
Buddy, bro, brohiem...Brosephous! Haven't taken the Freewing AL37 plunge huh? What's up with that man? 😋 Would have and could have loved your review, advise and most of all...your radio config file LOL. The thing is bloody beast! Has me looking into trading in the Malibu for a Traverse just so I can at least haul a few planes to the field and not have to break the AL37 down and put back together just to transport it😋. Waiting for a satellite reciever to get her before I maiden her. Really down want 8+ lbs coming down on someone or something!
Have you messed with the Spektrum AR637T yet? This will be my first time using it. Not thrilled with having to use forward programming and not being able to use the software app anymore. So easy to config gyro on the AR636. Typical Spektrum stuff. Release something better and take away things that made them easier. Argh😋
Cheers and happy new year Broseph! 😋😁👍
Haha! Honestly, airliners don’t really excite me all that much, so that’s why I didn’t get the AL37. I haven’t played with the 637T much yet. I plan to get one installed and setup here soon.
@@Thercgeek Thats cool man. I get it. I'm pretty much scale flyer. Bad eyes more than anything. Hard to see Jets when they get up or out there. This AL37...shouldn't have any problems seeing it Lol!
The AR637... at least it does support a satellite. I typically don't use them but our field does have some dead zones due to a huge microwave and cell tower at the university. Spektrum just seemed to make something that was easy to setup with the safe and AS3X more complicated. Suspect I'll like it once I'm use to it but having only Forward programming and the setup option is a bit of a drag. But, no more pull the bind plug and hold sticks in to setup safe. It's all in the forward programming screens.
You're a good egg man! Help a lot of people and very responsive. Good karma! 😁
Thanks for your kind words! I’m in the same boat as I’ll have to sort out the forward programming too. Shouldn’t be too bad I would think. I think you’ll enjoy the al37, I’ve heard really good things about them.
Just one off topic ? Where do u keep all the your aeronautical possessions
Well, I hang them from my garage ceiling and have some racks and such.
@@Thercgeek ME TOO LOL BE WELL
Also please please keep your vids the way they are Informative concise no run on BS with useless banter from family members and childish behavior from grown men You are the MAN
