  • To finish off my series on the Legend hobby A-1 Skyraider 86" ARF, here is my flight review at last. This is such a good flying model, I really can't say enough good things about it. The electric power system pulls the airplane beautifully and the model presents much like its full scale counterpart in flight. The full weapons load really finishes off the look too and the bomb drop is extremely fun. Interestingly enough, the full stores loadout doesn't notably change the performance of this warbird at all, so there's no question that this one will be flying fully loaded regularly. :) Lastly, the 3 piece wing really makes transportation manageable and setup at the field quick. Man, I can't wait to get this thing back out to the field! My full series is available at thercgeek.com/Skyraider #Skyraider #TheRCGeek #socool

    Amazing beautyful buil! Conbgratulations for that successful beautyful build mate! But WHY you´re not using an gasoline Engine, even an Rotary Piston Engine, for exmpl an 5 Cyl. what does has such an nice sound, such an realistic kind of engine for esp. this one of the last of its kind rotary Piston engine powered Airplanes. It was the point of th "i" for this kind of model i think! :)
    There is something different in my interest in such an Warbird/Bomber RC Airplane Model....Because i´ve a lot of knowledge for Airsoft Guns. And for exmpl, i like to find the right kind of warbird RC Plane to make an really special build/Project with that. I like to use such a A-1 Skyraider what i like to modify with 2 Airsof-AEC Gearboxes or even 2 AEG Airsoft Guns, what i like to modyfy to get it into the wings of the airplane. 1 per side at 1st. My problem is that i doesn´t know how much weight i could add to this kind of Airplane Model, but i think that the Fuselage Style with these big straight wings would make an kind of Aircraft Model that has more than enough airodynamic power to lift a little bit of weight from the ground, right?
    I thing that the both AEG Gearboxes could weight roundabout 0.5-0.6kg, with the neccessary little mod.special parts to convert these to this kind of use. Because the AEG Gearboxes from airsoft guns are made for 1:1 "Model Machine/Sub Machine Guns" and so i had to mod that a little bit. The same about the conversion of the magazine feed for the 6mm BB´s what are the ammunition for these. The nice about that is that you could get TRACER UNITS, often build into a kind of "Sound Supressors" for the Model Guns. The internals of these tracer units could be also used for build these into the wings, too. So you´ve the great option of get fluescence/lightened BB´s, & fired with 14 BB´s / Sec. you get a really nice straight line of BB-Fire, what is a big Pro for the use in an RC Airplane i think. Because wou´re not sitting in the Cocpit with any crosshair ;) So you´ve to get that nice option for a better shooting expierence with the RC Airplane i think!? ;)
    However, that´s even one of the MUST HAVE´s for my RC Airplane Build Project. It must have 2 AEG Gearboxes mounted into the wings, with tracer units, + that i´ve also to say that your bombing mechanism is GERAT. That´s also a MUST HAVE. Even because i really like to get an RC Airplane that could fire Airsoft Machine Gun Fire + Bombs to throw, to hit any nice targets on the field for exmpl. :)
    I know it´s ll a litte different than ordinary RC Airplane Use/Hobby, but that´s even that what makes it a lot more fun about that hobby i think! =)
    I´m interested to hear about from you what you´re thinking about that ideas for my project!?
    I´m from Bavaria (ger) and i hope all, or the most of my comment is good understandable for you....
    have a great day and a lot of fun with your beautyful A-! Skyraider!
    (& can you tell me where i could get the Model Kit fo this A-! Skyraider, or any A-1 Model Kit like this one, please???)
    Cheers Till

    Why don't model Manufactures Place Marks (Just a Dimple at the Forward and AFT locations of the CG Envelope. Just make it simple Stupid, NO Measuring Required.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  Před 3 lety

      Could be done, but I don’t mind measuring as the manufacturers don’t always get the cg right in the manual. I’ve seen ome of the newer foam kits are providing molded Cg markations on the airframe.

    • @daleyoung87
      @daleyoung87 Před 3 lety

      As a rule of thumb, the CG of all conventional wing-type aircraft is located on the center spar. This doesn't apply to delta/ swept wings.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  Před 3 lety

      It can be, but that’s not always the case if the designer didn’t put the spar in the corresponding location.
