- The Legend Hobby 86" A-1 Skyraider has flown in here newly completed repainted and weathered finish! I absolutely love flying this airplane and with the new accurate colors and weathering, it has completely transformed. Here's a little run through of the ordnance installation and the build up approach I took to flying with them. The model looks incredible fully loaded and I didn't notice much difference in the performance really at all. Maybe a little less top end speed, but that was about it. Otherwise, I needed to add a few clicks of up elevator trim with the tank on and that was it. I also have the sound system working as well, though I'm still working out the timing on the startup and shutdown sequence, haha! A big thank you to my friend for Corsair Nut for helping with video in the absence of my friend Paul who usually helps out behind the camera. This thing is so much fun to fly! #badassspad #justflyininmyspad #thercgeek

That is one bad ass Skyraider. The flybys when it's in front of the mountains loaded up is sweet
Send in the Sandies! All you needed was a downed intruder and Cole 505 calling in the bombing run. Im all used up Sandie, lay it in on me, Id do it for you! Love the model Chris and outstanding job with all of it. This onescin my future build list.
Alpha Mike Foxtrot... 🤣
@@Thercgeek you nailed it 🤣
Oh man! That sound system is just the icing on a pretty epic cake!
Thanks! 😁
This is simply awesome!
Outstanding Chris! Gets my juices flowing to build another Spad. An 86 incher...
Do it! 😁
@@Thercgeek Don’t know Chris if you have this issue, but I’m building up enough courage to do the ol’ “Do it and ask for forgiveness” deal with my wife!!! I’m so afraid 😜
My wife’s stance is so long as it’s not in the house, she doesn’t care, haha! She’s pretty amazing and understanding about it. 😁
@@Thercgeek 😮Sooo jealous!!!
What a very sweet A-1 Skyraider. The best looking one I've seen.Your flights are always so enjoyable to watch,as so scale like,I guess that's why you are a two time scale master's champ! Thanks Chris looking forward to your next video!
Thanks so much Don!
Hey, that was a good flight .! It's reminiscent of my old days .!
Thank you!
Nicely done - great flight, great presentation - that's a winner and a keeper. Thanks for sharing ...
Thanks man! I appreciate you watching. 😊
This is a very nice model and you did a most excellent job putting it all together. That things has hardpoints galore! Looking forward to your repaint , but it looks really nice as is.
Thanks Rodger, This was after the repaint actually. 😉. Was fun flying out there with you!
The plane s amazing, great presence in the air and on the ground! Sound effect is excellent!! Great videography!
Thanks so much! 😊
Totally gorgeous! Nice work!!! Love seeing the cool stuff you do!!!
Thanks so much man!
Very nice presentation there both in terms of the model and your nice, smooth and scale flying style. The A-4 has always been a favourite of mine especially in the SEA scheme, I’m sure you would bring a tear to many a Veterans eye. I salute you from one modeller to another.
Absolutely beautiful, makes me wish I lived in your country so I could witness this. Thank you, Pete in Oz
Thanks so much! The Skyraider in SEA camo is one of my favorites too. 😊. My dad is a Vietnam veteran and so I am especially thankful for them and the sacrifices they made.
Awesome aircraft, great flyin and great video 👍
Thanks man!
Most excellent Chris !!! Looks real and sounds real, great job 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌 don't you just love the smell of napalm in the morning
Thanks! 😊
Crazy cool!
Thanks!
I LOVE what you do to your plane's SIR. BEAUTIFUL LOOKING and FLYING birds🇬🇧🛫🛩️🚁✈️🛬♥️ RC 👌👍🤩
Thank you! 😊
Too cool.👍
Great flying plane. Then again great pilot.
Thanks man! This one is one of my favs to fly. 😊
Very cool
Love it!!
Thanks man, me too!! 😁. Thanks for your help out there in the camera!
Great 👍flight on a beautiful scale warbird!
Thanks man!
It looks just like a prototype against the mountain backdrop excellent job
Thanks! 😊
Excellent bro💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
Thanks man!
that is one good lookin bird!!!!
Thanks!
Last of the Gunslingers. :)
Amazing! My kind of hobbyist. I would consider spring pins on the sway bracket instead of bolts, what a pain
Thanks! Spring pins are a good idea and should work well so long as they don’t impart so much force that they impinge on the payload releases ability to actuate.
Great job as always! Is there and gas motor that will fit that you dont have to butcher the cowl?
Not one that’ll fit completely. A 35cc flies the airplane well and would be the least intrusive in terms of having to cut the cowl.
Great video! How many channels is your setup? Standard 6 plus 1 for bomb servo, and 1 for sound = 8 channels??
I’m using the 12channel power safe. I have the elevators and flaps on separate channels which pushes the channel count up to 11.
Carpenters chalk dust works grate you can buy it by the bottle , comes in a variety of colors and stays airborne for a while in a cloud of dust.😼😼
Oh, I’ll have to look for that. 😁
Question. When repairing your foam damage planes I use fiberglass sheets and ca but I see you use spakle. What kind and where do you get yours. Thanks.
And if I don’t have a airbrush can I do weathering with a paint brush and acrylic paint. ? And wipe
I use the shrink free spackle from sherwinn williams. It’s really good stuff and sands nicely. On the airbrush, yes you can weather an airplane without it. Certain areas are harder to do like exhaust stains, but otherwise I use acrylic pigments and paint brushes to apply oil stains and such. I have a paint and weathering video on what I did on the skyraider posting in a couple weeks actually.
@@Thercgeek I'll be looking forward to that vid.
That's awesome Chris! So...could this be your next Scale Masters Championship plane?
BTW...did you get the email with the pics of my A-4?
Thanks man! I could compete in a pro am category with this and compete expert again with my a7 which I probably will do. Assuming the championships are within driving distance this year. Unfortunately there was no competition last year due to covid. Oh, and i did get the pics. Awesome stuff! I could have sworn that I replied back. Sorry about that!
@@Thercgeek Its all good man I was just hoping you saw it. My modifying/painting skills are not in your zip code but I'm proud of it. I hope you can compete this year and I look forward to watching you if you do. I will e mail you with a question about scale flying if you have time - and I have an idea for a video you may want to do...I don't want to hijack the comment section here with a longer conversation.
Sounds good man, i hope to be able to compete this year also. We’ll see what happens. I look forward to your email!
You shoulda called me... I coulda picked up some "Explosives", ( Flour) on my way out!!
External stores should be a requirement on all rc planes!!! 🤪🤪
Next time! 😁
When will those break apart bombs be available
Awesome Chris!
I need those bombs
Please post the info
Thank you
Frank G
I plan to make the files available on my site. Haven’t been able to make that happen yet.
Or is there some way I can buy the files in order to escape them. I got 4 HSD 1.6m A1s and totally love them. Maybe I'll add this big boy to my collection someday
They are currently available. I had them on my site but have been having problems with the integration. The file is $18, shoot me an email through my contact form if you’re interested thercgeek.com/contact
@@Thercgeek just shot you an email. Thanks
Got it and replied. Thanks! 😊
Where is this lake bed?
It’s rabbit dry lake near Victorville CA
Chris can you put a Saito 3 radial engine in it?
Unfortunately, the cowl is too small a diameter to fit one with sufficient power.
I think I'm either doing P47 Wicked Rabbit or the SEAGULL MODELS 87″ F4U CORSAIR. I know Saito fits in the Corsair but not sure the large Wicked Rabbit. Just don't want to electric power system. I Wish Top RC would replenish its stock bc I love the P47 they have.
If you could take that airframe tweak it and use an electric motor in real time. That Spad would be renamed Zipper. Probably with real torque problems. Electric radial. The torque needs a little gearing down and delvelopement of a new prop for the high horse horsepower. Yes
Was crewchief at nkp 22sos and then at Danang. Olaa sog infil exfil. And sandy mission. Great unit 69-70
It only drops those two bombs in the tank that's it it doesn't drop the other ones that's no good
That would be cool, but would require a huge redesign of the outboard pylons. Besides, it’s 3 more droppable stores than most rc skyraiders out there. 🤣
