- I took 6 of my slabs, cracked them, and re-submitted to CGC. Check out how I came out, including a few nice grade bumps.

Always look forward to the Saturday 5am videos!
Glad your showing some SPORT covers Brad. To any of you young collectors out there who feel they missed the boat on high end SIs, you might wanna think about picking up SPORT mags while they're still relatively cheap. I saw under CGC's NEWS tab where Heritage was selling an early 9.8 SPORT with Mantle and Williams on the cover. Only a matter of time before SPORT and others catch fire.
Congrats on the Kobe bump!!
Kobe!!!
Can you please do a video on cleaning and pressing mags?
I just LOVE the covers like that Kobe that ask some variation of "Is He For Real?" The best example in my collection is, I think a Baseball Digest, from 1951 that says on the cover, "Mantle, Cloaked In Greatness?" It'd be awesome to have a mancave with one section of wall dedicated to those kinds of covers. Then a section where they realize early someone's gonna be great like Jordan's "A Star Is Born" cover. Have a SI jinx section, bust section...
I sent my first submissions in! I check everyday and it keeps saying "scheduled for grading". Man, it's like waiting for Christmas! And I only sent 5 nothing special mags in just to get the ball rolling. Plus I sent in what I think should be a range of 8.0 to possibly a 9.8 so I can get an idea how to grade the rest of my collection. Congrats on the Kobe, cool mag!
Congrats on your first submission. Let me know how it goes!
that kobe looks awesome thanks brad for the videos
Thanks for always watching, Tom.
@@sportsmags brad one question for you is the chinese novak djokovic cover considered his first or would it be the recent one in blue from last month
@tomharrison6607 It's kind of up for debate. There are other athletes with similar examples. For me personally, I consider the one from last month to be his "first cover" and I consider the SI China to be his "First SI cover appearance". Kind of varies for collector on what they prefer.
@@sportsmags thanks
good stuff, man. I'm ready to send in my SLAM and PSA magazines but have no clue what shipping products I need. Is there a company you recommend that sells the whole KIT? I know it's a rookie question, but I have to ask lol. Thanks! Excited to get into this new hobby.
That's a great question. Dealing with shipping and packaging was honestly one of the most intimidating things for me to figure out when I first started. I really need to put an instructional video together on it. Check out CGC Sports Illustrated on CZcams. He has a video that is several years old, but still helpful for shipping. I don't know of any companies that sell an entire kit unfortunately. CGC used to offer a free kit when you signed up with them, but it was for comics and was slightly too small for magazines.
Why are there slabs without notes from the grader on some grades under 9.6?
They used to provide zero grader's notes. Then, they would only show you grader's notes if you paid extra. Slowly, they've really improved their grader's notes to where almost every slab is getting them now. But there are lots of previously graded slabs without any notes. There never seemed to be any rhyme or reason for why some slabs had notes and some didn't.
@@sportsmags - Thank you!
