The Miracle On Ice cover is the only one I'll say I "speculated" on and kept several! I'll be SHOCKED if one doesn't get a 9.8. I even have a ticket stub from one of the games. I pray it was THAT game!!! I also have a repro of the Monroe Playboy cover and even those go for a couple k last time I checked. Interesting about the variant... I love the stories within stories. Keep up the good work Brad!

Hey Brad, on CGC's site under the "NEWS" tab they show a 9.8 June, 1959 SPORT with Ted Williams and Mantle on the cover getting ready to go up on Goldin. It's a beauty and will be nice to see SPORT get some fanfare. A rising tide lifts all boats! I've got that issue but not near that condition... the old SPORTs were so condition sensitive

Brad, question. When you look at a mag on CGC's census, at the top of a mags POP count page it shows "Key Comments". Are those comments what they put on the blue label? Big reason I ask is, I was looking through my reader copy of the 1st Clemente and inside is an article about Muhammad Ali getting sentenced for draft evasion and losing his belts, fined 10k, 5 years in jail, and banned from fighting for 3 years. That's HUGE news, but it doesn't say that on the "Key Comments" on that issue's POP count page. Do you know if there's any mention about Ali on Clemente's blue label?
Yes, those key comments are what is included on the label. Usually they don't reference any key interior articles on the label, unless specifically requested. If someone sent in a copy of that issue to be graded, they could request for that to be included on the label, and it's possible that CGC might add it.

I feel bad for collectors that bought 9.8’s thinking they were at the top of the Pop. More 9.9’s incoming.
Good point. I'm hoping it doesn't become prevalent. This is an ultra-modern book, so it's not totally shocking that a 9.9 would emerge from that crop. But hopefully they don't change their standards to where books previously judged as 9.8 will now start getting 9.9s. My recent experience is that it's been tougher than ever to get a 9.8 from CGC here lately.
If you don't grade cards mags you get ripped off gready
The magazine market is quite weak right now and will only get worse as we get further and further into the Recession.
Low and mid grade magazines are very weak right now because the market was oversaturated with tons of slabs this past year in comparison to the small number of collectors. But in terms of high end stuff, these 5 auctions will be pretty telling.
@sportsmags That 9.9 is yours, correct? I'm really baffled as to why CGC would do this at this stage of the game. It would be a lot better if they just focused on getting the labeling right.

@victortoombs4754 It's not listed yet. The 9.9 belongs to another prevalent collector and it has been shared in our Facebook group that it will be hitting Goldin in an upcoming auction.
