    If you are looking at SGC pricing you need to go back and find the rise in value that started was the first of 2020, not just during the Rono. SGC rising is only going to help the hobby and loosen the monopoly that PSA has on it. A lot of the "PSA Folks" need to realize that the competition will help them in forcing PSA to change how they do business, which they will benefit from. Good content as always, thank you for sharing various areas of the hobby ! #SGCMafia

      Very good point. Any industry that has level competition, only makes products & services faster & better for their customers. Cell phones, Oil, Cars, Clothes...it doesn't matter! Same applies with SGC. I'm a new sports card investor & have seen/heard the horror stories about PSA'S turnaround times. Honestly that was kind of offsetting to me initially. Can you imagine the amount of new investors that WANT to get in but are pushed away from the turnaround speed? It happens! All I'm saying is that PSA is king for now, BGS may be queen, but that prince SGC might have something to say in a year or two 🤷🏾‍♂️

      @@natsman7262 Solid. I currently have a 30 card sub shipped out 2 weeks ago to PSA and JUST shipped off a 10 card order to SGC yesterday. I'm expecting SGC back maybe by mid to late June but PSA by end of fall or winter 🤷🏾‍♂️ It's sad that I have to expect my PSA order to get back 6 months from now & that's why I think SGC will gain ground (currently)

    Great interview, I collect high end vintage and modern day cards as well...... I like PSA and SGC for vintage cards. PSA will list qualifiers and that’s a huge in vintage sales..... SGC does a great job in prewar cards, love the black borders. BGS is my last in line, I do like they list all the sub grades but now you have to pay for those now..... they use to be standard. I will continue to use all 3 but SGC might get note of my modern cards. Great 👍 interview Geoff :)

    Another great interview! As for grading, I too am being turned on to SGC. Those black matte slabs really make most cards pop. I'm probably going to end up slabbing my insert collection with them. As for BGS, its my preferred slab choice for HOF rookie cards. The slabs just have a museum quality to me with the thickness, silver/gold labeling and the Beckett insignia. It screams quality and class. However, my biggest beef with them is the cost. BGS HAS GOT TO LOWER THEIR PRICES if they want to remain competitive. As for PSA, I"'m done with them for now. Takes too long and their slabs look like something sold at a discount store.

    One would think that as the hobby expands, and demand grows, PSA would be able to afford enough staff to slash turnarounds. With how many more people are joining the hobby, like myself, I don't see why they can't hire and train enough staff to keep turnaround at a month, if they took the remainder of the year to allocate human resources. A lot of people are now in need of a job, so this wouldn't be a bad time to pluck some high skilled labor from the job market. If PSA had a reasonable turnaround, I can't image the business they would get.

  • @johnpowell5538
    @johnpowell5538 Před 4 lety

    Havnt finished the whole video yet but while I'm thinking about I have noticed way too much variation in PSA 10s. Some are too off center and the ink seems light and weak and then some seem perfect centered and nice clear deep coloring. In my opinion a 10 grade should only be the absolute best of the best and their should be a lot less of them. On another note as I go through some of my collection from the 90s it appears that a lot of the rookie chase cards and Jordans have touched corner or seem off center or have a scratch way more often than the other cards from the same pack. Makes me wonder if they did this on purpose at the factory in order to increase the value of the few good ones they don't alter on purpose.

    I think you need a healthy collector:investor ratio. What that is, I'm not sure. Investors drive prices up so that collectors can actually realize gains and reinvest earnings into the hobby. Investors need collectors as the "end users," otherwise they're just trading tulips and building castles in the sky.

    With the technology we have today they could print every card to look like a PSA 10 yet they do not. If they did that it would probably destroy the business. I would like to hear some thoughts on this from other people. I could be wrong.....

  • @joemlm2584

    for geoff, you have to understand, psa is not a legit company, they are doing shady things behind the scenes, for example, the worked closely with pwcc to grade trimmed cards, just to name one thing... psa CANNOT scale and add new people because the new people will find out what is actually going on behind the scenes. there are a few things you cannot imagine that are going on. you should have some psa employees in your network now, ask them off the record, and promise to keep the secrets. psa was founded to grade altered cards, it started with the first card they graded, and continues with pwcc and other major players in the hobby. mastro auctions used to be the biggest sports related auction house, read about all the nasty stuff they did, and consider, they started a new auction house, and some of the same crooks work for other companies today. i can go on all day. i want to add, psa is not all bad, there are some good people not involved in underhanded stuff, but even some of them see things and know things.

    BGS will always be king. The cards are protected from UV Rays and have a plastic sealed inner sleeve which is superior to both SGC and PSA. The premium alone of BGS 10s can be all the difference you need. For example, if I send in 50 cards all with a raw values between $50-$200, just getting a 10 on one of these cards can potentially turn it into a $2,000 card ( as opposed to $300-$500 as a Gem BGS 9.5). I only deal with Lebron James, Kawhi Leonard , Curry and Kobe refractors (all optic-chrome cards). Once you have an "eye for grading" you can figure out which cards have the potential for a BGS 10 and eliminate the ones that don't.
    All you have to do is submit 51 cards, and have ONE get a BGS 10, and the grading is basically free at that point, it virtually pays for itself. 51 cards x $20 per card (10 Day turnaround) = $1,020 plus shipping and insurance.
    Now here's the fun part. If you get more than one 10 (say maybe 4 or 5), and at least 15 to 20 others Gem, you made a killing! And if you are lucky enough to score a "Black Label" ….you already know that the card may be for 50x-200x raw price!!!

      @erikcarlson1562 Před 4 lety

      But BGS gives 3out of 4 of my 9.5’s one ‘9’ sub grade that is undetectable by the eye; and it drops the value from a quad 9.5. I did get one 10 Zion that sold for $1300 which made me happy; but those 9 sub grades are killing me...

    how can you not understand about psa and bgs grading not being able to keep up? everyone submits thousands of five dollar cards every day and treats it as an experiment when really people should just be submitting valuable cards or special cards but people want to submit everything there's nothing hard to understand collectors do it to themselves and they are idiots for ruining it for people like me. guess how many i submitted this year-- 20 cards and they are all special and valuable
