    Awesome video, some really good info and there are gonna be alot of PSA fanboys who will not agree, but this video speaks the truth. If PSA does not start lowering prices, SGC is the company to go with, its nice to get cards back when the player is still relevant. No one wants to wait over a year for their cards to return back home, that is just wayyyyy too long.

      SGC is starting to get hit hard. 2months ago I got a 10 card order back in 12 days. I currently have a 10 card order at SGC been over 40 days now. Still great turn around times and nothing compared to PSA just making the point that they are definitely getting more and more submissions

    Really good content, I appreciate the information you guys are putting out here to help us as collectors. I’ve submitted a total of 11 orders to SGC since May, have two there now totaling 21 cards; all modern to ultra modern, but with the PSA price being where it is, I preferred to have them slabbed versus just sitting on them. I have also sent two orders to BGS and one to PSA this Summer, but it’s not a viable option for cards in the $20-$100 range.

    Joe, what you saying about waiting and prices at PSA maybe never coming down, a light bulb went off and realized how wrong i am for waiting. I have a box of cards, and i went thru them, half were guys that their rookie year was hot, now they are not as wanted. if I went to CSG, i could have flipped them for even $10 in profit each, but for now they'll sit in a dollar bin. Thank you so much for the enlightenment

    I appreciate this video on the perspective of the seller when grading SGC. I would be interested in your opinion on the buyers perspective in buying SGC slabs. Is there a demand to buy SGC?

    • @gotbaseballcards-com
      @gotbaseballcards-com  Před 2 lety +1

      There is a ton of demand for SGC on vintage cards up through the junk wax era. We sell large quantities of SGC vintage. We are seeing more and more collectors submitting their modern and ultra modern cards to SGC every week as well and we would not be surprised to see an increase in the resale values on this time period in months to come.

    Where did you determine to price SGC 10s 25% below PSA 10s? From what I've seen, the gap is wider.

    • @gotbaseballcards-com
      @gotbaseballcards-com  Před 2 lety

      Hi Parker, we were just using 25% as an example for the math, not that the comps ALWAYS match that. We were focused more on the "turning the dollars" math, encouraging submitters to get off the sidelines with their cards. Even at 50-60%, you can make more total $$ by not waiting and turning your dollars over multiple times in a year. We are currently very focused on vintage collections of mid-grade star cards and most of what we've been comping has been in the 75% range on those, but yes, the gap is often wider on modern/ultra-modern cards.
      We will discuss that more thoroughly in a future video, comparing comps between vintage and modern. Thanks for your input! joe

    What example of a card sells for 600 in a psa 10 and 400 something in a sgc 10 ?

    • @gotbaseballcards-com
      @gotbaseballcards-com  Před 2 lety +1

      This was just a generic example not an exact percentage to use for all cards, our point was the value of turning $$ and saving money from overpaying on grading cheaper cards.. In hindsight, a better example probably would have been vintage PSA 8s vs SGC 8s where the percentage is typically in the 75-85% range.

    They arent many cards on the market from PSA that cost $150 to grade tho. In fact most PSA cards on the market likely costs between $9-$20

    • @gotbaseballcards-com
      @gotbaseballcards-com  Před 2 lety

      Correct, there are many bargains out there on PSA cards at this time. Many cards do not "fit" their current price levels which is why some other companies might be a strong alternative at this time.

    I wish SGC the best, I really do. I think they are fair, with great turnaround and excellent customer service. My problem is the slab. It's just too plain and boring looking - for me and for most of the collectors I sell to - they don't want SGC slabs. They just don't - and despite what these guys in the video say, I can't sell SGC slabs online or in person at 75% of PSA either. Just can't - the gap is much much bigger than that in reality. But that's just my experience as a dealer. It stinks, because I think they have a great product/service. In relation to the plain-ness of the slab, FYI I also say the same about PSA - it's a boring slab. I know in the video they recommend CSG too. That's a boring AND ugly slab. Even worse! And their turnaround times are bad. PSA has really shot themselves in the foot and it makes total sense everyone is looking for alternatives. My alternative? It's HGA, great slabs, great turnaround, cheaper than SGC, fair & consistent grades and I'm selling these all over the place...and in volume. They resonate with younger and newer collector's who want something to show off, not something that looks like generic can of tuna fish. Again, I want to like SGC slabs, but I can't sell them, so they aren't for me. But anyone that wants a fair grade for their card and are fed up with the shenanigans at PSA, I say you go with HGA first, then maybe SGC 2nd. I've gotten fair grades back from both. In the end, a fair grade is a massive part of the equation of what we are asking for from our grading companies.

      @gotbaseballcards-com  Před 2 lety

      Hi Chris, we are currently focused on a large volume of vintage collections, where the resale has been in the 75% range on vintage stars (especially mid-grade ones). We've actually seen SGC stronger than 75% on some recent comps on vintage, but I get your point on modern, where they are not as strong yet.

    • @bbcardwiz1016
      @bbcardwiz1016 Před 2 lety

      @@gotbaseballcards-com Great points. I should have clarified that SGC for Vintage does do very very well indeed in my experience. There's no issue for resale there and I've even seen them outsell PSA cases of the same cards. Hands down, no contest, SGC for vintage all the way. Great video by the way. Very informative and thanks for allowing all opinions in chat. You'd be surprised how many other content creators would have deleted my post since I gave a somewhat contradictory opinion. In the end we're all searching for where to grade our cards and SGC is 100% viable for various scenarios.
