Goku not recognizing ChiChi makes more sense in the manga, cause he hadnt seen her sense their first meeting. That would have been around 6 years ago.

@@xBROLISx The thing is that the anime gives her a few cameos throughout the series. He even rescues her before he goes to fight King Piccolo. So it's easier to understand why Goku would forget about her in the manga sense they only had the one meeting so long ago.

@xBROLISx Yes, but you could still see her face and later on oolong recognizes her easily. All I'm saying that it's easier to see why Goku and friends wouldn't be able to recognize her sense it had been so long since their initial meeting.

I do think there is a bit of a difference. With Frieza it was just to show how powerful Trunks was, Tao actually has a connection with Tien being a former master. So the purpose is not only to show how powerful Tien has gotten but to bring his character arc full circle by having him cut ties with his old teacher.

It's. About. To. Go. Down. Probably the best arc in dragon ball. This arc has some of the best fights in the entire dragon ball series, including Z,GT & Super. When all is said and done, if you rewatch the beginning of DBZ after this, it makes way more sense. It hits different. There's so much more meaning to everything that transpires and it resonates more significantly.

There is interesting fact about battle between Tien and Mercenary Tao is that Tien has scar on his chest because Tao sliced Tiens chest in 23 budokai tenkaichi.
aimin the reason goku didn't reconize chi chi was because when he last saw her she had her hellmit on, he never saw her without her hellmit before, that's how he didn't reconize her she didn't have her hellmit on

4 years, the time skip between og and z is 5 years and gohan is 4 at the beginning of it so he's born a year after this where piccolo is 3

I dunno if it's just me, but I doubt I would recognize Chi‐chi as well. Especially not by the outfit. It looks absolutely nothing like the outfit she wore before.
The dub altered Kuririn’s problem with Goku and Chichi. In the manga & sub he’s jealous Goku is popular with the ladies.
