No, he didn't do it first. Kyojin no Hoshi did this almost 2 decades before DB, and it was more "iconic" than this one, as it's still parodied to this day. Although technically those weren't weights, but springs, the point of it is the same. Google "大リーグボール養成ギプス".

In all honesty my first anime experience was around 1989 when I was 4 years old. I didn't even know about the DB franchise till after the mid 90s when I was like 12-13 years old when DBZ air on TV for me. I didn't know DB till late 90s after I watched most of the DBZ series. After I was done with it I watched the original DB. When DBS aired I rewatched DB and DBZ before I started watching DBS.

The shirt was 80 kilos the bracelets were 20 kilos and the boots were 40 kilos so yeah I believe that it was 350 pounds(lbs) of weight damn

How do they go from Raditz levels to android levels in just 3-4.5 years training when we know that Tien was training from the end of dragon ball to the arrival of Raditz which was a 5 year time skip in which he didn't surpass Goku who wasn't training as much. But suddenly can go from Raditz level to android level in less time. The only logic i have is that the humans were never pushed hard enough and neither was Goku until the stronger threats appeared which forced them to think of new training styles and push themselves more. This is somewhat supported for Goku by Broly's rapid growth after fighting Goku/Vegeta who are much stronger than Paragus and thus are able to push him further. Granted Broly is a freak of nature so his growth literally took minutes but the principle is the same.

Mind you they said all together his weighted clothing was 140 kilos, that’s 309 pounds. That’s easily more than what he likely weighed at the time so he effectively trained with over double his own body weight for years. In the Gameboy Advance games you can actually equip 10 ton arm bands and boots to him all together equaling 40,000 pounds and he is a bit slower, but the damage increase and the boost to his stats he gets every level up is insane.
Buu's Fury? Because in that game, all the weighted clothes do is increase XP gain. Plus that took place in DBZ where the characters are way stronger.

Just to put that into perspective, each boot = 44ish pounds, each cuff around 20lbs, the shirt is 200+ pounds! He was literally fighting with about 350lbs of extra weight! That's both of their body weights together!!!

Nice. Stumbled onto this. Never seen anyone react to OG DB. It’s still my favorite series of Dragonball this day, even though I watched Dbz as a kid and DB as a young adult.
This is why I love Dragon Ball over Z, it's so much better on the acrobatics and choreography...

I can carry 70kg no problem, but if my arm has a 5kg weight on it, it'll be hard to throw a punch really fast.

It's a running gag in the series that the weights goku wears are always way too little. It's literally stuff that a normal strong human can lift. Even at the start of the series before Goku had any training, he was able to lift and throw an entire car, which weighs far more than any body weights. And over the course of the series as he gets stronger, he has feats far surpassing throwing the car too,.

They actually dich the weighted clothing bit after the Saiyan saga. Tien and the gang think he still wore them during his Frieza fight but King Kai sent him durable clothing but without the weights. Though Piccolo continues to use them even in the present

The views on One Piece were huge, I'm sure he'll go back to that, but the views on Jojo's were down to 3-4k and 5k on his last one three months ago. None of them can move at the speed of light, even in Super. The speed of light is 671,000,000 mph, they would be able to circle the entire Earth in roughly 130 milliseconds, not even 1 whole second of time. The Yardrat technique of Instant Transmission uses Dimensional Passages to move instantly from one place to another, Goku isn't actually moving when he uses it.
Goku is an asshole for fighting Tien in weighted clothing....
