Actually its probably 2 or so months later if the timeline is to be believed Goku got Chichi Preggo the same year they got merried
To clarify, in addition to Goku and Chichi having grown and changed physically over the course of three years, in the original manga there was no filler where Goku visits Chichi Beyond the first search for the Dragon balls about seven years before the 23rd world martial arts tournament.
In the manga Chichi’s reappearance was more of a surprise as a result.

Unlike his father, piccolo can be a good sport and give out genuine compliments.
IMO he was good from the get go. All he wanted was to avenge his father without knowing the full context of everything. He was attacking Goku on instinct and he cant be fully blamed for that. Notice how he didnt kill anyone and was following the tournament rules completely until the last fight.
The interactions between Goku and Chi Chi in this episode was good. They’re both funny and sweet exchanges.
In the manga, this is the first time Chi-Chi sees Goku and Yamcha since the first few pages, and she doesnt have much going on so she remembers both of those very well.

To be fair, in the manga, Goku only met Chi-Chi once, and she was only around for two or three chapters. It's more of a shock there, Toriyama pulling this random girl from the start of the series to show up at the very end of it. The dub also rewrote this exchange when Goku and the others drove away from Fire Mountain.

Chichi may be overbearing, but she IS a good mom. Consider this: she doesn't want her kids to grow up thinking they can get by on prize money and welfare.
Facts. I used to be annoyed by her as a kid but when i was a teen and i thought about it i realized that her gripes were mostly reasonable. We're only against her because this is a fighting show and we want to see gohan fight, but if you were in her shoes you wouldn't want your kid constantly risking his life either. The only time she was completely unreasonable was when she said Gohan studying was more important than saving the world

Also i think most people blame her for how Gohan turned out (neglecting his training and becoming lame) but i don't think she's to blame for that. Gohan would have turned out like that no matter what be because he himself doesn't like fighting. Chi Chi only put his attention to books but if she never did that he'd find that or anything else to do other than fighting

God i love Chi-chi's design in that arc ! She really feel like a badass warrior here !! Also love the Toriyama explanation on Saiyan only being attracted to strong women...that explains everything here !! lolll
The reason why that flashed back to when Goku checked to see if Chi-Chi was a boy or girl is because in the Japanese versions that's what made her decide she had to marry him.
This episode was animated and premiered during the publication of the Saiyajin Arc. So Chichi’s wish to have children is reference to Gohan.

The most lovely episode of OG Dragon Ball
Always loved this Krillin v Piccolo fight. Makes me wish all the Z fighters had stayed relevant and been more on each other's level throughout the rest of the series. Krillin is still the GOAT so no shame in losing to someone who is so on par with Goku.
This fight just proves how Krillin's "our boy", he really certified himself and his abilities before cementing his courage on Namek and beyond.
Piccolo relied on krillin alot after this especially during z. During the battle with the saiyans krillin and piccolo fought on par with eachother. Piccolo was definitely stronger but with how they fought against nappa you couldn't tell the difference. Krillin is that good
@@Vicbosstv VERY good point! It's like Piccolo knew that Krillin was a worthy ally who wouldn't shy away when outmatched and would do his best (unlike Gohan vs Nappa), something that could be attributed to this encounter.
One could assume that Piccolo was comfortable in Krillin staying by his side on the battlefield until they were either dead or victorious.
@bcbitchkkv definitely! It goes past even the battle with the saiyans krillin further helped gohan as a fighter taught him how to properly fight. On namek gohan wasn't just a rage fighter he was able to hold his own..krillin doesn't get enough credit for his hand on helping gohan. But again piccolo and krillin would continue to work together side by side...he'll even the buu saga those boys were turned to stone together and had to demonstrate the fusion together haha. Goku might be their best friend. But I like to think krillin and piccolo hang out when the world isn't ending haha
Thats why I dislike Z...... Some nobody like Nappa comes and kills everyone....
Chi chi is a keeper. She’s loyal, she a good mom, she cooks and cleans, she’s beautiful, good fighter, and she’s down to have MANY Kids

Goku and chichi’s relationship is an interesting one
He is not a character who would normally seek a romantic partner
But I think by his logic if he had to share his life with a woman he definitely would of chosen her going off their past familiarity and shared backgrounds
As well as making up for leading her on.
As a married couple it’s not romantic and it’s definitely a disfunction but it’s one that works
She may boss him around and he may run off at a moment’s notice but Neither one has any desire to be with anyone else and they seem to genuinely enjoy each other’s companionship
Remember, in the anime there's plenty of filler where they meet, but in the manga they only met ONCE before this encounter.
Also, 8:50 now remember in DBS "Goku doesn't know what a kiss is" - but I think that's anime-exclusive as well.. but they fuck around with the canon waaay too much.
In the original Japanese the way goku talk is more referencing to the bird feeding or giving the senzu from mouth to mouth, of course he never do it like that 😄, also vegeta is not ask directly about kissing, he just ask "You've never done that?"

Wedding bells aside I love this battle between krillin and piccolo. It's definitely where their respect for eachother begins which turns in to the bond and friendship they form in to dbz. Definitely my favorite duo in DragonBall!

The reason he behaves this way here is the same reason he freaked out about Trunks feeding Mai senzu mouth to mouth, He is a boomer and dislikes any public displays of affection. I will not spoil the last episode of OGDB to you but he openly complains about something being done to him IN PUBLIC. He is a saiyan and is closed off. Even in sub this scene doesnt end with "but my heart does", it ends with "but I made a promise and I will keep it". Its just that the context is hard to translate for western audiences.
