The sequence with the bike gang and the cops was actually meaningful to the whole narrative, it showed that Androids aren't the typical villains that kill for fun, you can see that they avoided any conflict with them.

6:53 Spoiler: The chase scene is filler, but it shows that the androids in this timeline don't kill anyone even when provoked.

Our boy slowly becoming a man of culture with that Bae-teen AI generated image at the end. I never miss an upload of yours due to your interesting commentary and fresh perspective on one of my all time favorite series. As for the sub versus dub, yeah, the dub is rough and it doesn't get any better, I prefer the sub by a landslide. With the exception of Gohan, the dub for Kai is good, but as you know you'll be missing out on some scenes. My vote is for Z sub all the way.

Yeah the English dub sucks. You don't need more than one senzu bean to fully heal. I don't know why the English actors didn't do some homework on the Japanese dub first.
Piccolo right here sounds like he's mad, and is written like a teen who wants to be left alone. That's not what happens in the Japanese dub. Piccolo blasts at Kuririn and Tenshinhan to tell them that he's not their friend, and is still evil, and hasn't forgotten that he's Piccolo Daimao who will rule the world after the androids are killed. I don't like this at all. Piccolo has changed a lot since Dragon Ball, so this is actually one change that I do like about the English dub believe it or not. Piccolo isn't evil anymore, and maybe he's just saying that because he's mad or something.
I do like the callback to OG Dragon Ball with Kami explaining Piccolo Daimao's story, and his arc. They did that as well earlier when Muten Roshi was retelling the Red Ribbon Arc. I always love the OG Dragon Ball callbacks.
Kami and Piccolo fusing does seem like the best choice of action to get Piccolo to at least match the androids' powers. It doesn't make sense to me how that works, since Kami is way behind everybody's powers now. I mean Kami used to be super powerful back in the Piccolo Daimao arc, but by the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai arc it was made clear that Goku and Piccolo were already way ahead of him in strength. I just don't see how it would be possible how someone who is a million times weaker than Piccolo could bring up his strength a few times higher to match the androids.
I really hate 18's voice in the English dub. She sounds like a middle aged woman when she's supposed to be between the age of 18 and 20. She's supposed to young, and immature. Not an woman going through a mid life crisis. 17's voice in the English dub is good though, since you can tell he's a young man who might make irresponsible decisions.
17 and 18 do dumb stuff like most teens or young adults would, and I kinda like this filler stuff with them. It shows more of who they are, and you see that they aren't filled with malice like Freeza, Vegeta, or Piccolo Daimao were. They're just dumb kids making dumb decisions. 16 on the other hand just doesn't seem that interesting, since he just seems like a robot. I kinda want something more with him. Kami is right to wait and see what type of characters the androids are, since even he knows that they may not be as big of a threat as Trunks makes them out to be.
I hate the Maron part. She's just some dumb bimbo, and needs to get out of this story already. I'm done with her, and so should Kuririn. Actually 18 kinda liked Kuririn. She did kiss him after all, so I think Kuririn should be in a relationship with her instead. She's a million times more interesting than Maron, and has that playful character that Kuririn would like.

I think when Piccolo says he is a member of the Mazoku, he is just pissed off because he knows he is going to have to reunite with Kami-sama. Piccolo hates Kami's guts after all so I can see why he could be so agitated.

Goku gives K9 and Gohan half a senzu each in the Saiyan arc, it seems to restore their strength but perhaps not to full.
Got to love the dub messing the lines up. A single senzu is enough to heal anyone, eating any more than one at a time isn't good for you as we saw before with Yajirobe. What K9 actually says is "I guess I should feed one to Vegeta too", like he is hesitant as Vegeta isn't exactly the friendliest guy.
Piccolo says to move Goku to a different location which is a smart idea but K9's idea to move him to Kame House is stupid. It is literally the second place you would think they would look, then maybe Capsule Corporation.
Piccolo says "Whatever we do next, we can't think of doing it until Goku recovers."
Even when he is lying in his bed on the verge of death, Goku is still the most important character.
This scene seems to have been changed in the dub completely too. K9 calls Piccolo a friend but Piccolo does not appreciate this and says "I am a member of the Mazoku! Don't you ever forget..." (Mazkoku = Demon Clansman). I don't think so, Piccolo is clearly a good guy now, ever since he sacrificed himself to save Gohan from Nappa I'd say. Any mention of Gods or Demons was completely removed in the dub which is just silly when some of the main characters are or used to be Gods or Demons.
Tri-Eye says he forgot that Piccolo used to be the Great Demon King. Really?! Of all poeple, he forgot?! The guy killed his best friend and was squeezing his head so hard it was about to go splat. You'd think Tri-Eye would remember something like that.
K9 tells everyone what the Grad Elder had told him on Planet Namek that if Kami-sama and Piccolo hadn't split up they could have stood up to a Saiyan. And now that Piccolo has gotten way stronger they will be like a Super Namekian.
It sounds like they are banking on this to defeat the Artificial Humans. I'm not a fan of instant power-ups in general, but I feel this one has a lot going for it as it has been hinted at for a long time going all the way back to the Piccolo Daimao arc. Piccolo does not want to unite with Kami-sama, he hates his guts, but I'm sure Kami-sama isn't too thrilled about the idea of reuniting with Piccolo either. However both of them know how dire the situation is and they may have to put their differences aside in order to save the day. There's such history between the two that them reuniting feels like their character's coming full circle. Not only that but there is a legitimate reason not to merge as it would mean the dragon balls would be gone for good.
Before they can merge however, of course Kami-sama has to drag his feet first so they can observe events a little while longer. Ok to be fair, it does feel like he is dragging his feet like Piccolo says but Kami-sama says "You were the ones who picked that fight!" which is true. He says they didn't attempt to kill anyone, and that he heard Trunks say these are different to the Artificial Humans of his time. So if he is going to take this final measure of merging with Piccolo he needs to make sure it is for good reason. Maybe they really are different and not completely evil like in Trunks's time. There's some good drama here, let's hope it doesn't go to waste. Again more dialogue that was changed in the dub. My biggest problem with the dub is not the voices, it's the changes to the script.
Muten Roshi was talking about Maron giving him a Pafu Pafu, basically motor boating, that didn't make it into the dub either.
I don't remember that filler chase scene at all but it goes on for quite a while.
Yeah I thought it looked like that guy, Dracula Man, I think they're just re-using designs though.
If you want to watch the original series with the best possible quality you need to download Seed of Might's release of Dragon Ball Z. It is the definitive way to watch Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT with the best visual and audio quality. It puts any official release to shame apart from the French blu-rays.
The only reason not to go with the Seed of Might release is the file size, 1 episode is about 2.8GB.
It even has the English dub with the English dub score if that's your thing.
I can work on a list of upcoming super important episodes to waych in sub, most of them are more towards the end of this arc.
In terms of dub the Kai dub is by no means perfect but is miles ahead of the Z dub both in terms of voice preformances and script accuarcy.

Old dub errors with the “give Vegeta a couple of beans” line. That wouldn’t be necessary. Kai changed it to saying “I suppose it’s only fair to give Vegeta one of these too…”
