I'll never forget watching this in 2002 as a kid getting chills. I was eating a bowl of cereal right after school when toonami was on everyday and I literally spit out my cereal in disbelief. This show will always be my favorite anime. The memories, the video games, the action figures. It was a great time to be a kid back in the good toonami days. I'm 29 now and still enjoy watching DBZ

Honestly. These voice actors need academy awards. For how much their voices went through. At the power up parts . Sometimes . Theyd power up for like 2 episodes at a time .

Yeah and he could actually sustain ssj3 form somewhat longer while having a dead body because he mastered it with that body and that form consumes way too much energy very fast. And because of Goku's statement later, he no doubt could have finished it here if he used all his energy in one final attack.

This is such a bittersweet video, you can almost feel the early 2000s energy radiating off of it. Things may never be the same, but at least these videos will always be a testament to how things were. Also I gotta add how deceptively likeable buu actually was, in the beginning he technically wasn't even evil.
Honestly, the first ssj3 transformation is the best transformation scene in all of dragon ball. The surprise, the intensity, Sean Schemmel absolutely shredding his vocal cords, it's awesome

Yes and no. SS3 Goku took a lot out of him just to transform to it. And Buu keeps getting stronger, especially one transformation after the other. From Skinny Buu to Kid Buu, definitely.
Fat Buu was too much for Goku. Goku was using insane amounts of energy, but Buu was literally just playing.

In terms of "power," maybe. But Buu had regenerative properties, and his energy came from magic; Goku can't heal, and his energy comes from his Ki which SSJ3 burned through before he put a dent into Buu. Buu was just playing the entire time.
By far the coolest looking transformation.

“Do it dad” Man something about that line just hits different. I’m 33 so THIS was the peek of my childhood from watching Dragonball up until this moment, watching Goku grow as a character.. knowing who he is and what he represents, how hard he works and how he never backs down from a challenge no matter the circumstances. To hear his son Goten say “do it dad” just shows how much confidence he has in knowing his dad is going to advance to the next level which he did… this will always and forever be my #1 anime of all time 🫡❤️

Idk, I think a few JJBA moments are in the same ballpark. Mainly Kars's transformation and the first few minutes, just an atmosphere of unstoppable horror. Musou Tensei in HNK is up there too.

Yep. Even in the Tournament of Power saga of Dragonball Super, Goku only used it for a few minutes; not even.
I mean the main reason is that toriyama fucking hated drawing the hair and has always regretted the transformation because it's so time consuming to draw.

As a child, I remember Dragon Ball. I’ve never stop being a fan. This is one of the best cartoons of ever watched, and had the pleasure of witnessing throughout my life.

@@Gingee_9 I never watched, then one night I caught it on tv when they were on Namek.. saw Gohan and Krillin going around trying to collect the dragon balls and had no idea what was going on so tried to find episodes to watch from the beginning and discovered toonami, watched dragon ball then Z and got caught up right around Buu when new episodes were coming up
Vegeta worked way too hard - while also being the good husband and father that Goku never was - to get treated the way he did in the Cell Saga and especially the Buu Saga lol

That's why he didn't want to be brought back because someone always tries killing goku. In super is when goku was dumbed down and cared more about training in dbz he loved his family to death he always tried to be strong to protect them as for vegeta he didn't have the threats like goku did. Back when radiz was a thing he kidnapped his kid he was forced to keep getting stronger and stronger

There was mad collateral damage in that epic transformation.
This fight will always be so important. Goku used this fight to learn that just because he could evolve to the next level that was higher than Buu, doesn't mean he mastered it or could maintain is long enough to defeat Boo, and even if he did, if he barely beats the next major enemy, what does that mean for the next generations? He proves this in the DBS battle of Goku vs Frieza. Hence the reason why he left the fight to the kids, as they had the time, age, and ability to master the transformation, while Goku did not.
He could have he said it to vegeta later on in the saga in this episode he only objective was to stall for time while trunks got the dragon radar that’s it
God we never expected this growing up watching the show. To me, this was the end all be all of the sayians. To be this powerful to shake the world

thank you for saving the version without the echo yelling, had this on vhs before it aired on toonami and was so hyped with the music that it was the highlight of the whole saga next to Vegito. The second episode (and second half of this fight) is animated so wonderfully and i just appreciate it much more now as an adult. For example look how expressive babidi is with his facial expressions, look how angry buu gets after being fed up with goku running or whenever he regenerates, its so much fun.

I said this before on the previous channel that had posted this, but the original versions of DBZ are so hard to come by nowadays. The HD versions are good and all, but I will always have a spot in my nerd heart for the original quality of DB and DBZ. It's just something that can't be replicated these days.
