The Moro Arc in the Dragon Ball Super Manga starts after the events of Dragon Ball Super Broly. Though we don’t see those events in the Dragon Ball Super manga just assume it’s basically the same as the movie. Goku and Vegeta are training and talking about never fighting together again and doing all the other flirting you’d expect. Vegeta asks about Ultra Instinct but Goku says he hasn’t been able to use it a single time since the Tournament of Power. Their date gets interrupted by a call from Mr. Satan. Buu is being kidnapped so he needs Goku and Vegeta’s help.
Goku tells Vegeta he’ll teleport them over, but Vegeta acts like a tsundere and says he’ll just fly there himself. Goku arrives first and handles the kidnappers. Vegeta gets there shortly after, but lets Goku handle it. One of the kidnappers hears Mr. Satan say Goku and Vegeta. He knows who they are and proceeds to effortlessly speed blitz both of them. Defeating them both with a stun gun. He tells the others to take Goku and Vegeta as well so with that, the kidnappers leave Earth. Find out what happens next in the video!

This arc felt like a combination of Saiyan Arc , Namek Arc, Cell arc and Majin Buu arc .
I find it so weird how the Kai was this super powerful being here but Majin Buu was over powered by SS3. That doesnt make sense when that Buu already absorbed the Kai
@@hojoadethe Grand Kai became weaker by sealing Moro's magic, so it stands to reason that undoing that seal would return him his power. Also, Buu has been training. I don't know how strong he actually is, but they did plan on having him on the T.O.P. team.

Moro is actually a pretty cool villain stopping the saiyans transforming was a cool idea and a good way to balance them without just constantly having villains stronger per story.

What I like about the ultra instinct transformation is that it initially looks like another rage-induced powerup, but then Goku calms himself down and reminisces about his lost friend. A transformation out of love, not angst. Seeing stuff like that makes me realise, it's nice how far these characters have come.
I like to think he learned his lesson from fighting broly, in the super broly movie you can see his hair briefly change into MUI while hes transforming out of his SSG form, but hes too emotional to lock into the MUI form so hes forced to settle for SSB
Literally the best arc in entire Dragon Ball Super. Not rushed, had some best moments when Meerus sacrificed himself, Goku attained a new power got bigger, Vegeta protected the people of Namek, Goku & Vegeta had their separate training arcs, Meerus did came back but still had an emotional impact on the story, all the z fighters were significantly involved in the story, basically it was everything reminding me how good dragon Ball Z was.
Overall: 9/10
Literally the best arc in Dragon Ball Super 🙂.

I think the scene of Vegeta calling himself a villain makes sense, no matter how much he's changed since meeting Goku, that doesn't erase the countless lives he's taken over the years. The idea of Vegeta being doomed to go to hell, and ultimately being ok with it, is pretty tragic and cool in my opinion, the rare example of Dragon Ball having consequences.
Vegeta has long since redeemed his soul and become a good person. He isn't actually doomed to Hell, the fact that he feels that way is just a sign that he regrets his past actions.
The buu saga completely invalidates your comment. Vegeta does indeed go to hell after Majin Vegeta self-destructs, but after repenting and fighting alongside Goku to defeat Kid Buu his sins were forgiven. That's why when Porunga brought back to life all the good people on Earth, Vegeta got resurrected as well.
Vegeta is canonically a pure person, but his dark past continues to haunt him on a psychological level.
That statement isn’t meant to be taken literally. It’s a representation about the guilt vegeta carries over his sins. It’s the deepest we’ve ever seen his character

It's stated in the manga that Gokus entire time on Yardrat was spent learning how to become a Super Saiyan at will and then just enough time to learn Instant Transmission. That's why he didn't learn any other technique
He can already turn ssj at will during his fight with Frieza. Considering that he turn it off to base form when he loss interest in Frieza and was going to spare him. Then turn ssj again was Frieza refused to stop by firing KI at goku.
So that's either BS or another retcon.

@@kiattim2100 What Le-san said, but Goku himself also explicitly stated " At first I wasn't able to control it " when talking to Trunks in the android arc just before they both turn SSJ for each other if were going off the anime. I think in the manga he might have said something similar too as well. (that you can go check yourself, but true then it's confirmed he mastered it on Yardrat)
He asked why Goku didn't go back to learn Forced Spirit Fission after fighting Cell or Buu.
@@titanictnt7476 Goku is the same guy who can go years without seeing his friends even though he has the ability to use instant transmission and super speed. So I'm not surprised he doesn't go back and visit Yardratians. In GT (non canon) he went years without seeing bulma and vegeta, and in the beginning of super (canon) Bulma states its been ages since they last spoke and that he should come around more. And think about all of the other people Goku has met growing up in Dragonball that he hasn't seen in years just cause.

I really, REALLY like what they’ve set up here with Uub.
One of the biggest things to me that made Super feel weird, squeezed as it is between the Buu Arc and the End of Z, was Uub. At the end of Z, Goku was super excited to meet the reincarnation of Kid Buu, and much was made about his potential and power, making him a great student for Goku to teach as part of a new journey in his life. However, Super vastly reduced the importance of Kid Buu’s scale of power, by introducing the god forms, the Destroyers, and even mortals like Jiren, who are vastly more powerful than Kid Buu was at the time Goku fought him. It made me wonder “In this continuity, what about Uub would still interest Goku, after he’s been fighting Beerus and training with Whis?”
Introducing the idea of Uub having the God ki that once belonged to the Kais absorbed by Buu, to me, changes Uub’s place in the universe. And it goes further than him just having *way* more potential than even Kid Buu, now that we know what the divinities can *really* do. Uub has potential to become a new god, and possibly one who’s better and kinder than some of the flawed and vengeful divinities we’ve seen in Super. Seeing Uub being guided by the Lord of Lords (in Buu’s shape) is a strong moment; it has this air of someone passing on his knowledge to the next generation. And with Uub having one foot in the realm of gods, there’s a lot Goku could teach him after learning from Whis, Beerus, and the others.
I feel like this opens up a lot of potential for Uub’s story after Super crosses past the end of Z.
Baby would be cool to see in super. Or would he be more suited for Magic?
@@hojoade That would be cool, but would be a tad bit uneeded at this point given that we JUST got the granolah arc, and Granolah was basically Baby but with different powers and more depth as a character.
For me, I never understood the Buu stuff anyway, and this arc confused me even more.
How does Majin Buu, one single entity, split in half after seeing the dog get shot (so presumably his power should be divded between 2 beings), absorb himself (so all the power going back to one entity), then continue to do that throughout an arc yet get progressively stronger?
I get it when he absorbs outside people, as he's adding NEW power to himself, but by the end, we get another split with Kid Buu being reincarnated as Uub & base Majin Buu again? It's like all that power that began in one guy got divided up & reabsorbed so many times, only to somehow get stronger/then split again.
Everything around Buu & his powers just always confused me. It also seems odd Moro was introduced in a similar way as Buu originally was, as like this planet eating devourer of worlds. If Uub has anywhere near that power, he still SHOULD be of interest to Goku, if only for how strong he is for his age. Goku may be more powerful than him at the end of Z when they get together, but compared to where Goku was at that age, Uub must look to have limitless potential.

Not gonna lie, the Uub panel forced the dumbest grin out of my face... I know he's canon, but just seeing him in the source material, is ALWAYS a magical experience.

@@chamkeo2318 I think SS4 has been remodeled as "Wrathful" state in DBS Broly. They have the same description and brown eyes. That means Wrathful/SS4 pretty much equals SSG Blue (just shy), but can stack on SSJ, or LSS. I won't be surprised if Toriyama rewrites GT and make it better. Like he did for the non-canon movies where he plucks good elements and make it better.

Vegeta calling himself a villain isn't weird imo, good people are rare to call themselves good people because they are more likely to reflect on all the past harm they've done. Vegeta can't consider himself a good person, it feels wrong to consider himself anything other than a villain when he's caused so much suffering, it's basic empathy. You can see the same thing with Goku later, good people are rarely comfortable considering themselves as such.
People who without a second thought call themselves a good person are usually the ones you have to look out for in my experience.

A small note, but to be honest, Goku knowing about the technique of Forced Spirit Fission could be better off not being canon, but imo, it's still reasonable and can fit into the narrative, since Goku doesn't really care much for weakening his opponents and would rather face them at their strongest, which has always been his most tragic flaw, which also pushes him to new heights.
Low key, I feel like Goku would’ve let Cell get to his full strength also

- After going back to Earth, he forgets. His mind is focused on training for the androids
- Over time he simply forgot. No one's gonna remember every tiny detail 24/7
- When Vegetable used it, he remembered and called it out
Alright I have a theory, Goku knows how to do the technique. But never uses it, but what if he taught it to someone who is wise enough to use it. GOHAN. I know that the impact to Cell was strong, but I think that since he ABSOREBED THE androids like Moro would use magic- Cell would use His tail. So maybe Gohan was using Forced Spirit Fission to knock 18 out of Cell.
Like I said, just a theory

This arc honestly feels more like Z than Super
It felt like a Z movie not none of the arcs in Z and the second half of the arc is basically resurrection of f but improved.

@@d421. The Granolah arc felt like its own thing. Felt different from Z and Super. In Super, most of the arcs are on a universial and galactic scale (Gods, tournament between different universes, galactic patrol prisoner, etc). But the Granolah arc felt more localized because it only took place on one planet, kinda like Namek.

The Moro arc is my favorite arc in super. I like how all the Z warriors were utilize, Gohan and Piccolo stepping up to defend Earth while Goku trains to master UI and Vegeta learning new techniques. Seeing the OG DB fighters protecting Earth with the Androids, even Uub in the end made this story impactful. to me this is the best way to make a story by involving old fighters and improving new fighters. I can hope the next cast of warriors like Trunks, Goten, Pan, Uub, and Bulla get strong development and add to the DBS lore

Moro arc is both my favorite and most hated. It's my favorite because it started so great and also ended great. Very consistent that it's Daikaioshin's powers that beat Moro in both times. I hate it so much because Toyotaro (or Toriyama, whoever made the decision) turned Moro into just another musclehead when he got younger and absorbed 73. They should have kept him goat-like as he looked more evil, and should have kept his magic. Sorcery was the best of his arsenal and he used it to toy with Goku and Vegeta to the brink of their deaths. It was as if they made Moro too powerful so they retconned him to a weak battlemage mid-arc. (Where are the magma blasts?) Such a waste. They really should have Vegeta learn more in his training so we can get a Magus Vegeta that can beat Moro. Anyway, Uub hyped me so much and I thought Goku was going to use Dragon Fish to finish off Moro. Haha. It would have been interesting if one of the pair (either Vegeta or Goku) trains under the Daikaioshin instead of Beerus, or perhaps Gohan? Sadly, Daikaioshin has returned back to Buu's unconscious.
It's the worse for me simply cause it was Cell 2.0.

This arc is unexpectedly fun. I read ‘Super’ primarily to know the main plot, without really caring that they offer something exciting. But this arc just felt really good and satisfying, especially with all the retconned stuff. And the fact that Vegeta really shines as a ‘support class’ is so funny. Btw, you forgot to mention that they really make a joke of Goku grabbing someone’s junk.

This was a WAYYYYYYYYY better arc than I had originally thought.
I started reading the DBS manga around the time this arc was wrapping up, and I was genuinly surprised at the amount of hatred that the senzu bean moment caused for this arc. People were pretending like that single moment somehow ruined the ENTIRE arc. Personally i thought the senzu bean moment was badass, but either way, people made it seem much worse than it was. I think this is one of the best arcs in the franchise, I like it a little more than the Tournament of Power tbh.

@@a.n.e.s..z8803 The hate for the senzu bean moment in the moro arc is definitely not valid. Goku giving Moro the senzu bean isn't similar to goku giving cell a senzu bean. When Goku gave Cell a senzu bean, Cell was the strongest person on the planet and no one could stop him. It was pretty dumb for Goku to fully heal Cell, especially because Cell wasn't even asking for the senzu bean, Goku just gave it to him just because. Sure, Goku was hopeful that Gohan would unlock his inner powers while fighting Cell, but there was obviously no way for goku to be 100% sure that Gohan's inner powers could awaken before Cell decides to blow up the planet. With Moro its different. First of all, Moro actually begged for mercy, unlike Cell, which makes it more reasonable for Goku to give Moro a bean in comparison to just giving it to Cell for no reason other than "I want the fight to be fair". In addition, Goku was far and away the strongest mortal in the universe at the time he gave Moro the senzu bean. Goku knew that even at full power, he could easily handle Moro again, which is EXACTLY what happened anyways: Goku gives Moro a senzu bean, and then beats Moro down again to the point Moro is begging for mercy again. This is different from with Cell, because when Goku gave Cell the senzu bean, no one on the entire planet was capable of beating a full power cell at that moment. Also, Goku giving Moro a senzu bean is actually themaically fitting with Goku's character arc in the moro saga. Merus spent most of the arc teaching Goku about what true justice is, and he even admired how Goku spared so many of his enemies in the past. So it makes sense that Goku would give Moro another chance out of respect for Merus and due to the sense of justice he had developed in the arc, unlike giving Cell a senzu bean.

also saying it wouldn't be justice if he killed moro is kind of wrong since moro willingly fought goku and everyone else and threatened to absorb the earth or smth so him begging for mercy was so dumb since he BROUGHT it upon himself and the most logical thing is to kill him immediately instead of giving him another chance especially after considering the fact he's not there to have a play date but to kill everyone that's alive which means giving him that senzu bean is like putting everyone's life at risk for your own reasons which is simply wrong

It's nice to see Vegeta finally able to calmly acknowledge when an opponent is stronger than him/he is outmatched. For him, that's a lot of character development from the prideful and genocidal Saiyan prince we once knew him as.

I think the point of Vegeta never misreading an opponent's strength is true.
He just continually overestimates his own power in comparison, leading him to being stomped on by people. This is actually the reason that his Ultra is named Ultra Ego. He has such an inflated Ego (even if he's been humbled multiple times) that he reads his own power as either equal to or superior to his opponent.
This is backed up by the scene on Yardrat, where he couldn't properly gauge his own power because he didn't feel that he'd done enough training.
@Drip Goku To be fair he didn't really underestimate him because he had no way of knowing goku could instantly multiply his power beyond his own until it was basically too late
@Drip Goku Goku in the Saiyan Saga was of no threat to Vegeta in his base state. It wasn't until he began pulling out the Kaioken multipliers (that he would only activate for a moment, and Vegeta couldn't sense energy yet) that Vegeta began to show any signs of being hurt.
That, and Vegeta still had access to his Oozaru form. Which would allow him to crush Goku if he felt like it at literally any moment, because Goku could barely go to Kaioken X4 without nearly killing himself.
Goku in the saiyan saga, zarbon in the frieza saga, frieza in the frieza saga, 18 in the cell saga, perfect cell in the cell saga and so on. Vegeta underestimates his opponents all the time and this line about him never underestimating an opponents strength is comically funny in a dumb way.
@@ryancarberry2040 thats still underestimating gokus strength in the saiyan saga. He underestimated gokus abilities to use moves such as kaloken and spirit bomb.
That's semantics. It's just a stupid line. If they ever adapt this scene for the anime they should cut it.

Goku's denial of being a hero actually makes sense because he simply just does not see himself as one, neither does he do those good things intending to be one. I’m so tired of this bs argument. Being a hero doesn’t necessarily mean that you are always gallantly racing to help anyone. It simply means that you do what is right and protect others when you do not have to. Goku does that quite often.
Goku could have just went back to his little house in the woods once things began getting tough in original Dragon Ball. He could’ve stopped caring about helping Bulma and just tried to fight strong foes as the dragon balls were abused. But he didn’t. He fought those who sought to abuse their great power. And he saved Earth from the Demon Clan.
Later, Goku also fought against the Saiyans who sought to destroy his home, and he traveled far just to revive his friends and help the universe. Since then, he’s prepared for each and every threat that he’s known was coming, and has fought against each of them. None of this could’ve been done without him.
Goku is selfish sometimes. And sure, he is reckless and stupid quite often. But this doesn’t make him any less of a hero. Goku fights against villains and protects the little people. He has destructive power but never abuses the people of Earth, even when he has money problems or is in a fit of rage.
Goku is a hero. And I’m tired of everyone pretending that he isn’t just because he likes fighting.

This is my favourite arc solely due to the fact that they didn't just make a villain randomly appear who is more powerful than Goku and Vegeta. They got someone who at most was the level of Cell (ironic) and brought the other fighters down to his level while raising his own with Ki that he never had access to in his youth.
He feels more realistic and well placed, and ties in a lot of older concepts that were never concluded or extended apon (the Yardrats, the "lord of lords" inside Buu, the androids having no Ki, etc). My only problem with the series is how they keep dumbing down Goku. It would be nice to see him take things seriously and return to his roots. The guy who took less risks and saw the importance of the spiritual, strategic and mental side of fighting, not just winning by "being a beefcake who hits harder than you do"
Goku does go throught a lot of develoments in this arc thanks to Merus, maybe not as much development like vegeta had but still develoment with his UI and how to fully become MUI and fight for those he care about and carry on Merus’s ideals of protecting the innocent

Until the buu saga started he was an extremely intelligent fighter. Buu saga kinda put that at a hold (understandably considering he was absent for half of it) but Super hasn't given him a single show of intellect since it started. I miss Goku being the smarter fighter, not the stronger one

12:06 No, it's just how it is worded. When Freeza called the Ginyu force for backup on Namek, he interrupted the Ginyu force from "processing" the Yardratians and their world. Then, at the end of the arc, Goku gets into one of Ginyu's pods and hits last destination which was Yardrat (or next destination, which is also Yardrat).

Moro's magic and ki-absorption gimmick was really fun to see. Magic is HORRIBLY underutilized in DB in general, and I wish that they would expand more on it.
Also, his initial design goes SO FUCKING HARD. It was unique, cool, and really great in general. Shame that by the time that he absorbed Seven-Three, he started looking like a generic DB villain.

yeah, cool initial design, looked arrogant the entire time. He's like a mad scientist, wanting to see his opponents abilities before he stole them. The few annoyances being his obsession with making fodder minions for the heroes to fight (though it shows off his sadistic nature), and his design changing to look more like 73 rather than himself.

The final battles with moro makes me realise how smart he is with all his tactics to leave no way for them to win like creating the barrier or eating 73 he's (imo) one of the smartest villains
He is probably the second smartest villain after Zamasu. Moro left nothing to chance in his plan, whereas Zamasu left a LOT to chance and STILL basically won. Zamasu knew of stronger beings than Goku, yet he decided to steal Goku's body just so he could make himself a symbol of the god's failures. In other words, Zamasu was too cocky. Zamasu was still pretty smart tho. He was okay with killing all the gods, but he was smart enough to know not to mess with Zeno or the Grand Priest. And in the DBS manga after Zamasu becomes infinite Zamasu, when Zeno shows up all the Zamasu's try to run away. Even when there is INFINITY Zamasus, they know not to mess with Zeno or do something dumb like trying to kill him or switch bodies with him. Moro's plan was a lot more simple, but it was more calculated. So if I had to rank intelligence of DBS villains, Moro and Zamasu might be around equal, but I'd give the edge to Zamasu. Cell is up there too tho, his saiyan genetics caused his downfall, that's not his fault, he was just born like that.

I always had the suspicion that Zeno couldn't erase angels. Not only were they exempt from erasure during the Tournament of Power, they are the only beings to never show any fear of Zeno.
My headcanon is that Zeno's actually a destroyer above all other destroyers, and Grand Minister is his angel.
I think there's likely one god above Zeno, as even Zeno stood for the summoning of Super Shenron, who could apparently "do anything at all".

So it could be that Zalama (creator of the super dragon balls) was the ultimate Namekian, or maybe their progenitor (since Namekians spit out eggs). I ain't gone lie Vegeta and Gohan impressed me the most in this arc. Vegeta showed a lot of development on namek when he went out his way to save the kid. He even went to yardrat to learn spirit control and forced spirit fission which was dope af. But gohan didn't do as much but when he fought against og73 he showed some real skill. That energy shield he used, jumping on ki blast that even using gotenks galactic donut technique was dope to me. I know a lot of ppl looked over gohan in this arc but he definitely showed some skill. Can't wait to see gohan n vegeta fights in this arc once its animated

This was a beautiful arc. It felt very Dragonball but still had everything that makes Dragonball great.
This Arc and Villain are like a culmination of every in universe threat Goku and Vegeta have faced and it took every trick and tactic they could think of to win without Xeno and they still needed divine interference which was also great to see because Merus a divine being was so moved by justice he relinquished his own stature to motivate a guy that inspired him. This is a hidden gem and you explained it really well. Thank you.

I think this is probably the best arc so far because it feels like dragon ball Z. Probably my favorite is the inner workings of ultra instinct, all this time Goku and others have had to fall back on their rage and anger whenever they needed to achieve a new form. Ultra instinct is in direct contrast with that, needing a clear, unemotional mind, forcing Goku to unlearn his way of transforming for the past several years. It's one of those character journey's that feels like an obvious next step, but I still was interested by.

I am fine with Vegeta's "I am still a villain" line, it's representative of how he hasn't forgiven himself, just like his regrets over the namekians. It's not meant to show he still has evil intent or anything stupid like that.
I find it a bit corny . I think he doesn’t have to say it or say something like he’s just a renegade.

I'm okay with it. But i find it confusing that he expects to be sent to hell when a deity like porunga has already given him conformation of a good afterlife. And he's only added to his case.
I think Vegeta likes being a villain in a good way by killing his enemies or anyone who causes harm. thats why I think he considers himself the bad guy.

Man this was such a cool arc for Dragon Ball Super the introduction of Moro, Merus, Vegeta mastering new techniques, Goku finally mastering Ultra Instinct great stuff.

I’m mad late, but I just finished reading through this arc today, and I gotta say, I think it might be one of my favorite arcs in DBS. Moro was a very intriguing villain to me. Him going around devouring planets reminded me of Galactus from Marvel Comics, and his magic abilities were interesting. That scene were he impaled Goku through the chest legitimately horrified me. Merus was also a highlight of this arc. Had a feeling he had some kind of connection to the Angels, but seeing it revealed, his sacrifice and bond with Goku made him a great character. I loved how the utilized some of the OG characters that don’t get much action these days, and enjoyed the extended lore with the Kaioshins and Buu. I loved Vegeta’s determination to atone for his past actions on Namek, but I didn’t like how they regressed him to be all like “I just wanna surpass Kakarot” again, and call himself a villain when he hasn’t been one since Majin Vegeta. Finally, I thought Goku giving Moro the senzu just to make him break his own arm by trying that impaling move again was such a huge flex. Absolutely badass.
I prefer the Granolah arc mostly because I like Granolah as a character more than Moro. I also enjoy the addition of new lore, and backstory to Bardock.

Correct me if I'm wrong but...the Ginyu force that terrorizes Yardrat is the same that we seen in DBZ. Goku jumps in one of their pods when Namek is about to explode and the pod takes him there because it's already a registered coordinate.

Ginyu force was on King Kais planet after they died, and the z fighters who were also training with King Kai beat them. So no, they couldn't be the Ginyu force we see in Namek.

The part about fighting with Angels full power is the only they can die, I think that's more so the only way an Angel can naturally die - rather than the only way they can die in general. So Zeno can kill the angels and probably has with the other angels from the previous universes. Otherwise Zeno wouldn't really be needed and the Grand Priest would be the highest power in the multiverse.
