@@grydon6422yeah every time i get into an argument with someone over power it's because they're using information from these guidebooks as if they're more canon than the actual material, i'm willing to bet toriyama just skimmed through them and signed off on them rather than reading each and every statement and making sure they're factually and logically correct

I really like how they portray how much Goku has evolved intellectually and perceptively as a fighter in this arc. He's able to realize subtleties that the other fighters can't pick up on. Yamcha and Krillin thought that Tien was frozen in fear, intimidated by Tao's presence. But Goku realized that it was actually Tao who was the one afraid to attack. He also knew right away that Tao wasn't even in Tien's league as a fighter.
Also, despite his normally cheerful and childlike nature, Goku has an serious demeanor in this arc. He wasn't fighting here just for his personal enjoyment or for his longtime goal of becoming the world champion. He was here to stop Piccolo and prevent his evil machinations. He was on a mission. The contrast between kid Goku and young adult Goku was very striking.
Yes. But maybe for The Worse. This 18 years old Goku didn't kill Piccolo. And the same thing with Vegeta, Freeza, Etc.... Old Goku is Too Pure and sometimes Too Stupid. Kid Goku was The Killer like Vegeta. I prefer Killers like Vegeta and Kid Goku. 12 years old Goku killed so many people. My favourite Goku moment of All Time is 15 years old Goku killing King Piccolo and several of King Piccolo's sons

Tao must be feeling extra foolish right about now. He's been constantly underestimating Tien, not seeing that he already lost the battle. Tien is no longer the same person Tao remembered and has been training his ass off. Imagine coming back to life as a cyborg who is supposed to be way more powerful than before only to get shit on not once but twice. Talk about the ultimate embarrassment LOL.

is it just me or tien and tao look like they're clapping cheeks and Aimin looks like he is shocked
this episode put me on the tien agenda, shame that he never does anything again besides slowing down cell
Tao probably did get stronger but this tien imo would probably beat king piccolo as he was fully confident he could beat that goku who beat king piccolo
At this point he's stronger than Goku while he's wearing his weighted clothing which is still far stronger than he was when he beat King Piccolo.
This is when Tien became the best human fighter in Dragon ball history!
And then he fell to #2. :P

@@SWAHswah-tm7snyeah I mean Krillin retired for over a decade. Gohan retired for a year or 2 and became so weak he couldn't even go SSJ2.

1. Krillin "retiring" is greatly exaggerated Everyone technically did. There were no active threats. About the only ones who didn't were Goku because Goku and Vegeta because obsession with surpassing Goku.
2. Tien also has a farm to tend, and later a dojo. Why people think he literally eats, sleeps, and breathes training is beyond me.
3. Why do people think Krillin "retiring" means he didn't keep training himself to stay in shape at the very least? Because he very obviously did.
And this isn't even touching on events in Super.
Krillin simply outpaced Tien. He was already doing it naturally, closing the gap between them each time they'd meet up again, and with the events on Namek he leapfrogged him while Tien began to see reduced gains and he reached near his limits. It's that simple.
@@SWAHswah-tm7snpotential unlocks are op, and toriyama clearly wants to show that roshi training >>> all else, and tien got a little of it but not the full experience like goku and krillin

About Chi-Chi continues to fight along side with Goku, even possibly training Gohan in Z. That's one ideal character development Z could have done, but instead Chi-Chi becomes extremely annoying mid-age stereotyped Japanese female back to 90s. If there is anything solid criticism about Dragon Ball, They treated female characters very bad is definitely one

Don't underestimate chichi's she's actually very strong, she also has telekinetic powers.

Beyond that, Goten required having to transform while sparring against her to best her while she trained with him.
