But skipping straight to Z or Super is like skipping JoJo parts, OG Dragon Ball is important to the series with the start of Goku's journey, the character introductions, the world building, how they learn the techniques, and more.

The closest DBS got was Goku's gliding kamehameha vs Kalifla, but it just made me think of Cooler vs Goku.
In Super there’s a scene during MUI vs Jiren where he’s spawning balls of ki on his hands and feet to jump on jirens ki blasts. Also pretty cool but it’s harder to see that most people don’t notice it

I honestly believe the fluidity of the art and animation of the goku vs piccolo jr fight is one of the best in the entire series it's so clean compared to a lot of the later stuff which while flashy is more riggid
Its the best of both worlds, still grounded enough like the OG fights and we get some of that Z beam clashes and crazy explosions, its my fav since i saw it as a kid.
Piccolo used this technique against Goku and Tien in episode 90 of DBS where Gohan and Piccolo were tag teaming against Goku and Tien

The feet kamaha and instant transmission kamehameha are forever the best moves

Nice... That Piccolo energy charging attack at the end of the video is the same technique he used in Dragon Ball Super when him and Gohan were sparring against Tien and Goku before the Tournament of Power. These OG fights makes me appreciate Z, Super, and GT much more.

I enjoy them more than most of Z. One of the main issues with fights as they go on throughout the Dragon Ball franchise is the mostly eventually end up devolving to "teleport ki-blast teleport" constantly making it a lot more boring to look at and have a lot less relatability to the pain and effort that the characters give with how normal they feel during the fights when compared to how ruffed-up and bloodied they feel earlier on from those types of situations.

Consider how piccolo is here and shortly after raditz lands on earth and neither him or goku can barely lay a finger on him
And here’s the thing, in the dbs super hero movie, piccolo said that gaining his size doesn’t change his power level, and the fact that goku was as strong as piccolo when he was small. And when goku got in his throat, he’s punching inside, so all the same strength he used with small piccolo is in his throat, so that’s when you know piccolo is fucked

If that was a direct hit and the original Piccolo was injured like that he would die for sure as I don't think he could regenerate or perhaps he didnt knew how and Piccolo did pull a Vegeta move there though technically he was the first one to do it.
goku saying “give up, junior. you can’t fight like that.” always bugs me. goku was down 3/4 limbs when he refused to give up and ended up killing king piccolo.
This is exactly why other Mangakas call toriyama "God"
