When he got all defensive originally I thought that he wants a thrupple. But then when his mum came out with that bombshell. Story 1: Who the hell is the 20% defending them? These two were most definitely planing something, and you should most definitely get as much protection as you can. I'm stuck on the part were they got away with r-wording a girl just because they were under age and that BS "They didn't know what they were doing" like hell they didn't there's no other meaning to the word NO. Show no mercy.

So op changed apartments and job and has written down everything when Michael tried to see her. He even went far to say op stole and owe him money to friends to get the address, nobody gave him shet.
She kept the letters and court came. Michael mom refuse to speak against her son of course and he cannot be within 800ft of op. (Op changed apartment when someone broke in after she left out of town.)
She seen John acting like a weasel hanging around public places where op frequent and got told off hard by the police.
Op is safe now.

The court date arrived, and Michael's mom didn't speak up when actually in court. OP did win the case tho, and neither of them can be within 800 feet of her.
I'm surprised she put up with those two creeps as long as she did, I guess she thought they were just kinda weird but wanted to keep the rest of her friends around and put up with it.

Sexual violent crimes should never ever no matter how young you were when you committed them, be allowed to be expunged or locked. Is somebody who works with victims of sexual assault and human trafficking? That's disgusting. It's time we start putting the victims rights to be safe. The public's right to know who they're living next to the public's right to keep them cells and their children safe over the rights of a criminal.

Laws are antiquated. So there is a "boys will be boys rule" even for young adults, eg, Brock Turner is a famous one.
@@Dog_in_tree unfortunately no. It is exceedingly easy to get off that list. And let's say they applied to work at a nursing home that deals with unconscious patience. The nursing home will run a vulnerable person background check and because that record sealed, it will not come up. I use this example because there was a case of a gentleman who in his teenage years committed violent sexual acts towards women. But because he was a minor he got his record expunged. So he applied to work as a nurse's aide in this nursing home that had patients who were unconscious. So he was left to do their care. And one of those patients ended up pregnant. After the pregnancy was discovered, they did sexual assault kits on all the unconscious women. And all of them had been sexually assaulted by this man many many times. So by stealing his record, even though he was a minor, did nothing but protect a sexual predator.
Sexual predators generally start as early teens. This is not something that appears in adulthood. It appears way before that and people ignore the warning signs. This is true for Ted Bundy. Wayne gacy , the beast to BC and many other cases.
Is someone who has had to work in the court system quite a bit I can tell you that the court system is not set up to protect victims. The cops and the lawyers are there to get a conviction. Not justice but a conviction. The two are not always the same. The defendant has his lawyer and an entire constitution or charter of rights and freedom to protect them. The victims at best have charities and non-for-profits. And that's it. If they're lucky or they have the resources they can hire a lawyer to hopefully protect the rights. But don't kid yourself for a second into thinking that law enforcement and the prosecution is interested in protecting the rights of the victim. They're interested in getting a conviction. And that's the way the justice system has been set up intentionally.
@@Farsight453 You're right. Laws on a sexual assault are extremely antiquated. In fact, a lot of them harken back to a time when women didn't own their own bodies. That they were nothing but property. A lot of the rape shield in the United States was written before women even had the right to vote. And not much has changed.
And I agree with you on Brock Turner. The fact that the judge was able to even give him 6 months for sexual assault is disgusting. There should be a minimum of least 6 years for sexual assault if not more.
There was a guy, who committed crimess like these and had his record cleared twice for what ever reason. He went on to continue his heinous crimes. Forget his name however.

Watch out for someone not taking "no" as an answer and be very careful around someone who won't let you leave when you are trying to. They're more likely to get violent with you.

The first story is scary because the family was willing to sit on this information waiting until somethings off, they continued to let those boys stay in contact, and you can't really tell who's plan it was because they are both willing to go through with it.

If a big story like that comes through the grapevine about someone you really care about, what’s your first instinct going to be, realistically?
In a well established friend group like this, its hard to take a step back sometimes and realize “oh, wait, this person is really not a great person like I thought they were”. Not everyone is emotionally able to break off friendships at a drop of a hat like some online people suggest, even if a mountain of evidence supports them being a bad person.

I mean, you do you and you control your life, live it in the way that makes you happiest, but do keep in mind that these stories are the top of the top worse scenarios, there is good people out there, kind and fun, one just has to be careful about trusting people too fast and having good people on your corner, again, enjoy your life, dating isnt the make it or break it all for happiness but just try to remember good people exist, otherwise I think the look onto the world can feel too bleak

Story one: The part where Michael asks if she’s told anyone her suspicions gave me chills. I thought Michael and his friend were going to murdered OP.
Story 1 update: She got her order which meant Michael couldn't come wthin 800 ft or she could call the police. Michael's mom wouldn't testify against her son. John got a talking to from cops at the court date but still shows up at public places to show that he could. However OP has a new job and place to live so she is doing better. Please note, this was from 2 years ago so OP has likely moved on to better and safer things.
First Story: That was terrifying. I am glad that OP is following through with at least the protective order.
Imagine being a dad, bring your daughter to a restaurant that she doesn't like, on her 16th birthday, and when said restaurant burned down, accused her of burning it to the ground, stuck to that decision till death and not believing her she wasn't even near that restaurant.
I think that was just guilt talking. He was accusing her of burning the place down because he realized how much he fucked up, but since he didn’t have the emotional maturity to just *apologize* and ease his guilt like a normal person, he had to accuse OP of wrong doing.

First story, OP had the chance to drop the losers when Michael blew up. Taking a simple talk and blowing up that hard is enough red flags for it to be good enough reason to break it off. The second time would've been when Michael came up with the 'engine problems' excuse and telling John to pick up his 'boyfriend'. Now is a good time to buy something self-defense to drop them for real. Rslash left out a last little bit from the update where someone broke OP's mom's window and this was from three years ago. Hopefully OP was able to get everything taken care of and the gruesome twosome are also taken care of.

The police will do basically nothing unless these guys unalive OP and leave enough evidence that they're easy to prosecute. If it's not easy, they'll probably get basically no prison time if any. Years later they'll be caught as serial killers with a big list of victims that could have been avoided, and the authorities will act surprised as if it could have hard to predict at all.

It seems like John wanted OP but since OP rejected him he sent Michel to go after her. Then when that actually worked he just waited till he thought she wouldn't walk away from them. I still don't fully know what they actually wanted because Michel said it wasn't for a threesome but maybe they wanted a throuple with the "right girl"... I paused the video before the end of the first story just to post this before hearing the update.
My guess is that Michael is trying to have a 3 way with John. Talking him up, talking about his passionate hugging skills, trying to force them together. They are up to something.
The reveal after talking with Micheal the first time was exactly what I thought, then after meeting his mom HOLY COW that went in a dark direction that was just messed up. That update was beyond what I expected.
I was thinking something along the lines of "M isnt even interested in OP and is solely wingmanning for his friend John"

That first story is just so disturbingly weird. I'm going to be thinking about whatever mystery plans they had for her all day.
My first thought on the title story was that the ex-BF was a wingman who only dated OP to warm her up for his bestie and dump her so she'd go to his friend, because that guy was the one who actually wanted her. With the updates? I still think that. However, they would not stop at the legal 'seduce by proxy' nonsense. They would get increasingly criminal over time.
They actively tried to get her alone with the guy she was not interested in. Probably so he could try to seduce her again as one last-ditch effort before they'd start to use force, drugging or kidnapping her. Good on the OP for taking precautions with her mum and fleeing when she could.
Also, even though others might disagree, good on that mother for immediately spilling the beans on her son's past when she found out what had been going on. Granted, it is not good that his history was hidden at all, but every parent (and society itself) wants to think the best of a young child so of course it was swept under the rug; to stop his actions as a dumb hormonal teen from ruining what could be a bright, normal future. But now his mother knows it wasn't just dumb teen behavior, her son is aberrant, criminal scum and so is his bestie. That's extremely difficult for a parent to accept.
The first one sounds like a complex long con wingman vibe, which is just insanely convoluted. Edit: Thank God OP had the foresight to meet in public and then escaped one of the crazies easily. Story 1: I really was trying to give Michael the benefit of the doubt, saying that he was insecure because I've had a best friend like John at one point(overcocky, ladies man, act like he knows everything). However, all that went out the window the second they r-worded someone poor girl and got away with it.

Story #1: hopefully the cops that she talked to know their jobs and investigate these two creeps. People who do this don’t do it once and then lay off for 15 years and try it again. I’m betting there have been other girls that they’ve assaulted, either alone or together, over the years!
That last story reminds me so much of my 16th birthday. My step dad who never seemed to like me and was often abusive towards me decided that on my birthday 16th birthday he was going to buy himself an Xbox 360 (Which was the newest console at the time). I know this because he made sure I knew it was for him. He had also spent the entire day playing golf with my older brother. We met with him at that golf course for lunch where would proceed to scold me and only me that I needed to pick something cheap on the menu. When that was done I asked if I could at least get dessert since it was my birthday and my step dad just laughed at me paid the bill and we left. I didn't even get a cake that day either. This wasn't even the first birthday of mine that he ruined either. He pulled similar shit on my 15th and 17th birthday as well. I was actually a little surprised that he got me something for my 18th birthday. It was a cheap pocket knife with my name on it. But by that time it felt like an empty gesture.
Actually, hindsight, why didn't you tell him: "don't get your hopes up, I won't stap you with this! BUT I will fantasize about it..."
About Story 1: Wow, OP was in a really dangerous situation, if she had meet up them in John's place, the situation could have turned really dangerous real fast. Also, another fucked up detail: Michael said "They were looking for something long term, not just a one time thing", and right after we discovered they raped a girl in highschool. So basically they "choose" OP for their fucked up fantasies, but OP noticed something off and ran for the mountains.
Honestly, wish OP all the best, she didn't deserve to pass throw this and now she has to have eyes behind her back for who knows how long until these two pice of shit stop definitely.

Story 2: Good on OP for realizing they were not being considered in their relationship. We all make compromises, especially for our partners, but for someone to consistently disregard your preferences is a serious issue. At the very least I hope this breakup is a learning experience for their ex and they are more considerate in their future relationships. I don't think they are past redemption, and can legit use this as a way to grow.
I'm thinking that it wasn't until she started writing down all of the instances of him not considering her that it dawned on her and confirmed to her how ridiculously one sided their relationship was.

I'm rather bothered that you left out a detail in the first story. Since you generally try to give out advice to younger folks, I feel like mentioning that OP's own boss let her bf in would be very relevant, as it is a HUGE issue. I know there aren't details regarding the incidents, but the way she mentioned it seems like she notified her boss of the safety concern and her privacy was compromised.

The first story reminds me of kind-of how the serial killer and rapist Tienz (don't know the actual spelling, as it was in South Africa) acted. It wouldn't even surprise me if that "friend" duo start going that far. Glad OP got out of that when she did, but I got the feeling that this is only just the beginning.

On my 16th birthday, my boyfriend left me in some strangers house for hours just waiting for him. Luckily she was a sweet old lady that left me and my friend alone in her house since she was giving us a safe comfortable place away from the cold so I was physically ok but I cried to my friend for hours just wondering what happened, why he wasn't texting me back. Why did he forget about me? It turned out that he was a maybe 30 45 minute walk away with some friends and his phone died so he essentially decided to leave me unaware of the situation around people who did have some form of contacting me. I ended up apologizing to him after siting in some strangers house for 4 5 hours just waiting for someone who didn't love me the same way I loved them. My house was a 20 minute walk away, idk why I didn't just go home. I was so excited to spend that birthday with him and he got upset with me for being mad and disappointed. For some stupid reason I dealt with his shit for another 5 years and I broke things off 7 months ago after being tired of mothering this adult and all of his fuckery. I found a new boyfriend who treats me like a princess. Like my ex would get drunk and argue with me, telling me who dense and stupid and incapable I was. My boyfriend gets drunk and can't stop himself from gushing all over me and telling me over and over how much he loves me and wants me and wants to marry me one day. I moved on quick, admittedly because I fell out of love with my ex way before I cut it off but I'm so glad I did
Let's not forget that mom knew exactly who her son was and let that poor girl date him.
I've been in 2 relationships where my ex chose their wants & needs above mine. One example from each of them:
My parents sent me $200 for my birthday (which was way more than they've sent me before or since) I was pregnant & had a lot of stuff my morning sickness wouldn't let me eat. My ex insisted we go to their favorite restaurant, even though the food I could eat there was very limited, and I had to pay for. Then they took me to a music store. I had to spend all the money left after the restaurant, on CD's for them. I pointed that out, the response, I kid you not, was "You should derive happiness from making me happy" And, no, they gave me nothing for my birthday.
My ex loved motocross and monster truck ralies, I do not. I don't dislike them, but I'm meh about them. So for their birthday one year, I took them to motocross. For my birthday that same year, they took me to a monster truck rally. My ex didn't want to pay $10 for parking, so we parked at the nearest free parking, which was over a mile away, so I also was forced to walk there & back. Then my ex decided to relapse & I had to play punching bag & babysitter.
Story 2: the Ex BF should be thankful you made that list of the times it was his need over OPs. IF he really didn't notice his behaviour it's a PERFECT wakeup call for the next relationship for him, and IF he did know of his own actions ... well there's no help for a person like that but the list atleast gives him a chance to improve himself.
However I don’t think he has learned and is only acting like he has to try and guilt OP back into the relationship. He can’t even respect that OP want to end things
WOW, that first story went really deep, really bad. I initially thought that since the two guys are friends the one rejected asked or dared the other one to try to get close to OP, maybe as a joke, which went too far which led to them trying to do a swap. BOY THAT went REALLY DARK and very fast.

2nd story hits hard. On my 18th birthday, my Mom took me and my family to a seafood restaurant- I am allergic to seafood. I had asked to go to a specific restaurant, and when I asked about it, she said it wasn’t “nice enough”. I couldn’t eat anything there, but I was hopeful about the cake- I had asked for a caramel cheesecake. Only to end up getting a chocolate cake shaped like a shoe. I don’t like chocolate cake, and I felt like I was being babied because it was shaped. I left the restaurant and started sobbing, and my Mom came out to yell at me for being ungrateful. I understand that I may have been acting that way, but I had already told her what I wanted, and usually you’d expect that if you’re being asked, your requests will be respected. It made me so upset that I wanted to stop celebrating my birthday all together.

I'm glad OP listened to her gut, but she needs to tell the group what happened, air those two creeps as rapists to them, AND MOVE OUT ASAP. "Didn't mean to do it" doesn't apply to rape. You can kill in self defence, steal to feed yourself, but there is NO excuse or reason or explanation to SA someone. How are they gang rapists? I mean... I hate to be a stickler here, but gangs are defined as groups of 3 or more people having a common name and committing crimes as one of their primary activities. Or, in other words, it takes 3 to make a crowd. As for the 20% of the friend group, I _hope_ they were told a different version of events, and chose to believe that one... which means they're still idiots. So there was one story slash told where the wife was trying to push her husband to her sister and it was later found out that she had cancer I was hoping that that would be but the vibes just kept getting worse
The boyfriend in the cruise story reminds me of an old friend who used to make other people's events all about him. Birthday boy wants to go to a steak house, and he's like, "Nah, that's boring, we should all go to THIS place." It's so bad that he'll even miss the person's birthday celebration and go to the other restaurant by himself if people won't alter their plans. OP needs to run for the hills.

I remember I wanted to celebrate my 16th birthday years ago. I lost contact with my uncle when I was into foster care as a kid. The system managed to find him and set up a meeting with him. We reconnected and I invited him to dinner for my 16th birthday at apple bees. Nothing fancy I was a simple kid. My foster mom was of course coming, no problem with that. I was excited and then when the day came to plan was for my foster mom to pick me up at home and we'll head out together. My older sister and uncle will meet us there.
I got a from my foster mom and she said to call a cab, have it pick me up then have it pick her up from work (she owns 2 bars and was a horrible alcoholic at the time). That was when I knew my birthday would end up fucked up. I honestly thought about just calling the cab and just leaving her but the mental abuse was horrible at the time.
Long story short, she flipped out at the server calling her a Bitch. The server also happened to be a childhood friend who I also lost contact with! I tried to calling talk to my mom on the side but we both ended up flipping out at each other. My older called a cab and sent her home. Our friend said she didn't mind our mom's words and my uncle calmed me down and we all tried to save my birthday.
We came back home and mom at past out asleep and I soon lost contact with my uncle again. (Phone was lost). Our foster mom apologized. That was 10 years ago but I don't think I ever forgave her. I certainly never forgot it.
Story 1 sounds a lot like Michael wanted OP to be comfortable with him being friends with John. But he kept pressing the issue in horrible ways until it was too late.
Their toxic personalities also made it worse .

At first i thought Michael was just gay but super closeted, and this was his weird way of trying to live vicariously through OP. His reaction to OP implying that he was into John himself seemed to confirm that suspicion... but man I did not see where this story was actually going.

An update to the "It's Over" story": The OP's ex won't let her out of the lease and she can't afford to break it on her own so she's stuck living with him until the lease is up in 4 months as she has no other options (and she's explored multiple). In the meantime she's moved most of her stuff in storage and is living in the guest room, with a lock on her door and camera in her room. He is still trying to gaslight and talk her into reconciling but she's found her backbone and is shooting him down every single time. She showed the ex the list she made of all the things he'd done over the course of their relationship and at first he tried to deny it then switched tactics and is now doing things on the list that he he could have done in the first place but didn't. She's also told friends and family who tried to guilt her into staying with him that the relationship is over, to mind their own business and figure out why their SOs are doing the bare minimum instead of trying to make her feel bad and accept things she doesn't want just because ex "iS tRyInG". Now some of them are not speaking to her but she doesn't care.
Here's a crazy "arson" story... I worked at a local pizza place as a delivery driver. One day i got so sick at my other job they sent me home. I called yhe pizza place any told them i couldn't come in because i was sick. How sick? Well if i can't stand to work a register... How can you expect me to drive a car?! The puzza place said it was unacceptable and didn't believe i was really "sick" (mind you I've never called out sick at either job or missed a single shift). The pizza place called my house at least 30x (landline phone) i had to unplug the phone for a bit. Turns out the pizza place was holding orders for me to deliver anyway... Hoping i would show up 🤦 I was fired when i showed up for my next shift. I threw my uniform hat on the floor and left! Two weeks later the pizza place burned up!!! My friends suspected i had something to do with it because i was... Dating a girl from NJ 🤣🤣🤣 They thought i had some kind of mob connection 🤣🤣🤣
First story: W mom honestly. She did everything she was supposed to do. Sent her kid to therapy to try and solve the issue, and never defended his actions.
She thought he was better, but when the signs popped up she didn’t ignore them. Immediately told OP to get away from those two monsters and stay away. No denial, just pure protective action for OP.
Not going to lie on that last story I think the thing that's so sad for the original poster is knowing that their dad hated them so much for not liking things like tomatoes or mayonnaise to the point where they were willing to blame them for their favorite restaurant burning down until the day they died what a sick twisted individual and you know what I'm sorry to say this and God forgive me but I think that the original poster should celebrate that they don't have to deal with such a terrible person who would hold on to their dying breath that their responsible for their favorite place or restaurant for burning down

I’ve been listening and subscribed for 4 years. I got into the habit of listening as I’m mopping, vacuuming, or washing dishes. The ads have gotten ridiculous. Today while washing the Thanksgiving dishes, I had to stop, dry my hands, and skip an ad FOUR TIMES during an episode. UGH.
One of my best friends once gave his girlfriend a $100 gift card to HIS favorite restaurant as a birthday gift. Before anyone asks, he’s in his 30s and is known for being particularly socially clueless (I have so many stories). I told his GF she should take one of her girlfriends.

I love cruises ... but it's expensive to book single passage. Well I am planning to go on one for my birthday and wanted to take my best friend. But I asked her before I booked it if she was okay with going on one, she had never been on one and thought it sounded like fun. That's the key you ask if your friend or partner wants to go before booking something expensive like that.

at first i thought that maybe the boyfriend was insecure/jealous because john told everyone that he was asked out and rejected her and op never mentioned correcting what happened to her boyfriend and so he wanted to gauge her reaction towards mentioning john and how similiar they are but that quickly went out of the window
9:33- With all the planning those two did around OP and with how her ex clearly was making plans without her(as well as how he got tense when he found out people knew her location) i could tell things were about to be dark. Low and behold my theory was right😱
In the last story I remember going out to dinner with my parents and sister for my 16th birthday. We had to go to Red Lobster because that was my dad's favorite restaurant of the moment and the only place he would go. I asked if we could go somewhere else and my mom said it was Red Lobster or nothing. My dad would order a huge plate of food and orange juice to drink. He would scarf his food down as fast as he could and start choking. He'd be spitting food all over the table and making a huge scene. Once he stopped choking he'd start scarfing his food again. It was disgusting.
For story 2 I feel op. I spent the better part of a decade capitulating and doing what my ex wanted. I didn’t notice my spark had gone out. We split over a year ago and the change was immediate. I ended up having friends tell me that I looked so much happier, I had gotten my spark back. And the year since has been so amazing. I’ve done things I never thought I’d get the chance to.
