We all have our types of films we like and dislike. For those who enjoyed it (like me) I feel like we found value in things that others couldn't find value in. You were joking about the whole "see emotion in his eyes" type of thing, but scenes like where he's jumping off the roof were so good in my opinion because of how they filmed it. I personally loved the close ups and the wider shots, but you thought it was a go pro shot and didn't like it. It's all just subjective.
Imo there’s a BIG difference between a detective story and a mystery. This movie wasn’t really supposed to be the latter, so saying there was no mystery as a genuine complaint is like saying there was no rom-com in my western film, and deducting points from the movie because of that. Secondly, i was able to see the emotion in pattinsons eyes. It’s not just something people say to sound smart.
I feel like Ludwig explained his take pretty badly in the first clip but in this video he explained it a lot better and made more sense. It's mostly just his take and what he disliked about it but people on Twitter have no lives so here we are bois..
I mean mystery is essential to a good detective story, it's more like saying no comedy in my rom-com.

I actually think the “we’ve already solved it” mentality is really dumb. Ludwig has had many great streams and CZcams videos, but I still get excited for new ones. There have already been hilarious episodes of The Yard, but I still get excited when they upload a new one. Already having a lot of something doesn’t mean the future installments can’t still be worthwhile and enjoyable.

Admittedly I am a biased Batman fan but there are some of your points I legitimately can’t wrap my head around.
How do you watch the Dark Knight, then call Robert Pattinson in The Batman “emotionless”? Compared to Bale’s Batman (and basically every iteration of the character), he’s practically over emotional, which I think was a deliberate choice that had a mixed but interesting result. On your comment about him being Batman most of the time - good. We’ve seen Bruce Wayne explored so thoroughly that having Batman on screen for a majority of the film was so refreshing.
The movie not being “fun” is kind of the point, and I even thought the few jokes in the movie were very good and well timed. Especially the scenes with Cobblepot.
I definitely am not crazy about it, but I did think it was pretty good. Saying it’s mid is fine but your reasoning is just kind of wild to me.
I'll say it, the best batman was Adam West in the original tv show.

If Lud didn’t enjoy this movie that’s fine, it just wasn’t to his tastes. But does that make it mid objectively? No. Subjectively to him tho? Yeah.

The thing you have to remember is that we're not watching a fully functioning adult. Robert Pattinson is playing a man who lost his parents at a very young age, never fully allowed himself to grieve and is stuck in that loss as a result, isolated himself from society for the majority of his life to train himself for a one man war on crime, and is only just now making any sort of real human connection with Alfred and Selina even though he's been at this for two years already. It only makes sense that that character would have trouble expressing and dealing with any emotion that didn't involve anger. Anger is all he's allowed himself to feel because anything else brings him back into that loss and grief.

This is actually an extremely based take. He’s not even saying it sucks, just that it isn’t amazing. I think the reaction to this ends up proving the point that people put superhero movies on a pedestal that they don’t always deserve. Whether or not he enjoyed the movie doesn’t really matter though, it’s all just his opinion.
Hard agree, the batman was probably the biggest letdown i've had as far as movies go in the past couple years.

When Ludwig did the mask and then Bruce wayne, that's how I felt the whole movie. The batman character was mid at best in the movie.

Then I think it's fine. Where he could tie it back to his argument is, are those stories getting made INSTEAD of original IP? And the answer is most likely, yes.

Fair points, but no superhero movie or genre will ever be solved. The whole point is to make characters that have hundreds of stories to tell and perspectives to look at. The Dark Knight was great, but there’s just so much to add on and build, which is exactly what this movie is setting up

I thought it was the funniest batman I've ever seen. And I like that Bruce Wayne wasn't a completely different person when he wasn't batman. My only grievances about the movie were the weird out-of-nowhere kissing scenes and and the riddles weren't that clever.

I love Batman in general and I did actually love this movie.
But Ludwig's opinion is valid and it is ok that he didn't enjoy it as much.
It was a Reeves movie, you have to kind of be into the slow reveal, tragic horror style to appreciate Reeves movies. He makes you work hard for the pay off's and so I think Ludwig made a valid point that the pay-offs perhaps weren't enough to pop off for the amount of work building up to them.

I just got back from watching the movie, honestly I can understand where you're coming from. But I personally loved the movie. It played out like a Crime Noir movie with a bit of romance sprinkled in. And I'm not sure if you caught it, but this is only Batman 2 years into all of this and this seems to be his first big villain showing up that's not the mob. The movie ran long, and it's definitely not a movie for everyone, but I did love the take they were going for. I do wish Robert Pattinson got some more lines in as Bruce, and I feel like I saw somewhere there were more shots of him as Bruce that they took out but I hope to see a little more of it in the future. Otherwise it feels like they want to focus on Batman and Detective aspect more and I really enjoyed that take more then what the other movies in the past have done.
I stopped taking Ludwig’s movie opinions seriously when he said The Social Network wasn’t the best movie of all time.
