These people are in their mid to late 40s (did I remember that correctly?), and are trying to coerce two 19yos into having s3x with them, one of whom they've been a family friend of since she was 12.

    • @alanalirkani

You know, I'm listening to this book that I really like that I think says it really well. So basically, the story follows people who are unable to move or do things without some kind of personal transport. And because of the technology made at the time to help with their condition, they can have multiple "bodies" in multiple locations. The reason I'm explaining is because one of the characters the main is talking to asks when it's OK to call someone a cheater. And main says this in response, "You had certain expectations and boundaries in your marriage. If your partner steps outside of them, they're cheating." Which I think is a great way of thinking about romantic relationships. You have certain expectations of your partner when entering a romantic relationship of any kind. Step outside of those expectations, cross those boundaries, and it's cheating. Because relationships are all about trust

It’s an act of equity not actually special treatment though.

Like I don’t know if he has personal stuff going on rn that’s effecting his work, but literally his ONLY job is reading the words that are in front of him and then comprehending those words enough to make a couple brief statements about them. Yet in EVERY episode his reading comprehension is so bad that he somehow misses major details/plot points of the stories he reads.
That’s on top of the fact that he misreads important information in every episode as well. For instance, in the post about the middle child’s wedding and her garbage parents, he says “all I said after that was that I shouldn’t have said what I did to our parents and…”, which was SO confusing because I was like “why on earth is she apologizing??” and then I realized the post ACTUALLY read “all HE said after that”. That makes a MAJOR difference in the story. What’s the point in having an editor if he doesn’t correct the many mistakes r/slash makes when he can’t read the posts correctly on his own??
His takes lately have also been WAY off base. It’s getting harder and harder to listen to him. Idk what’s going on but I really hope it gets better soon.

@@lorilancaster5917 Thing is, being poly and being swingers aren't the same thing. They're similar, sure, but there's key differences. Swingers may have foursomes, but generally the idea is that they're not sleeping with their spouse and instead sleeping with at least one member of another couple. Also to my knowledge it's entirely sexual and does not lead to a joining of the two couples into one polycule. Polyamory is more varied in its functions, namely it can be both purely about sex and/or loving multiple people.
So I can't tell you how other swingers might perceive this couple, but from a poly perspective I would say it's wrong on all sorts of levels. Putting aside the age difference, dating the child of a friend is just creepy, especially since they knew her from a young age. The very least they could have done is spoken to OP about her and partner's comfort level in regards to dating their child. Though personally I just find it kinda gross and I don't think I could ever find my friend's kid attractive, even if I met them as a legal adult. Even if the parents weren't uncomfortable, this couple actively tried to pressure the daughter and bf, which is just a big no in general. And then there's the setting; a babyshower is a totally inappropriate place to seek out new companions. There's no reason to bring a sexual energy to a party that's celebrating an unborn baby.
Hoped it satisfied your curiosity, and sorry if it was a bit rambling

Story 3: "I can't be too affectionate because you know how guys get around two girls being together." Do OP's parents expect her brothers to perv ON THEIR SISTER just because her spouse will be a woman? It's either gross that they would jump to that conclusion or they know that about their sons.
Story 4: "It's not like she was trying to force your daughter to have sex with her husband." No, she was just trying to badger your daughter into agreeing to have sex with her husband. Haivng your daughter's back is not kink-shaming, and I'd have a serious think about if I want to continue being friends with them or the people who'd tolerate them.
Also on story 4, they're trying to blame the situation on autism? This isn't a case of not reading the room, this is a case of hearing "No" from two different people and continuing to pester them about it.

That's what makes it all the more confusing. By what op has given us, it would be like...if it was the opposite of your experiences.

Not suggesting I don't believe the story, necessarily, but if it wasn't framed in the sense of it being posted by the cheated on partner, it would almost come across like some sort of male ego power fantasy. I.e. :
"You're a lesbian? Pfft. You've just never got it from the right guy! Allow me to introduce you to my penis."
To which the "lesbian" actually says "bet" and the man actually succeeds, because he's just that amazing and his penis is just that great.
And all the whos in whoville that day say it grew three sizes plus one. And everyone clapped.
It's a very strange story as told... I would expect the friend to be put off or laugh at the extended offer. Not actually take him up on it. Much less sabotage her friendship over it. Especially if she genuinely was an actual lesbian.
My only guess is the friend went around "advertising" it in order to get male attention, maybe?
Like "oh I'm so down bad for women I just blah blah blah I could NEVER with a man...unless?" Which might suggest she was after OPs boyfriend from the get go?

To be fair. There is a difference between traditional sex, oral sex, and masterbation.
Nobody calls a girl who uses toys and her hands on herself by has never been with a guy "not a virgin"
Having sex is a pretty specific thing, and what girls do to each other typically doesn't count because it isn't different from what a girl does to herself when single. The only difference is oral sex, which, again, a girl (or guy) who only has oral sex isn't considered "not a virgin."
So by the definition of the word, yes, she was a virgin. I understand why that might hit the ear funny or irritate someone, but that doesn't change his the word is used even to this day.

@wimsylogic65 that's not true. Hand jobs don't cause you to lose your virginity, and neither does oral sex. Those are all done by other people, and they do not take your virginity.
I'm sorry, but no, virginity is used to describe penetrative sex from one reproductive organ into another.
      Hands,feet,tongues,toys, none of them apply.
I understand that culturally, we use the word virginity to validate "real sex" and, in doing so, exclude same sex relations.
But you can arbitrarily make the word mean something it doesn't mean. If you could, you move the goalposts for everyone, and that isn't something we do with that word.
I'm sorry, and i know it sounds exclusionary. But you can only lose your virginity one way. If you are doing other things , then the virginity is intact.
It works the same if you are young or old, straight or gay. It's universal.
You don't have to like it. In fact, i understand why you wouldn't, but it is still the reality of the situation. Her virginity was as she said, intact.

We build a pillow wall and straight sleep back to back on the edge of the bed as far away from each other as we can lol. Absolutely nothing inappropriate about it, sometimes there's only one bed and neither of us are sleeping on floor lol. That mom is the disgusting one making the situation into an appropriate one. Lots of siblings share beds at times for whatever reason and it's the farthest thing from inappropriate. Ugh, I don't even want to say the word s**ual because it's just so 🤢. Story Three: NTA
Parents: Oh YOU’RE not worth the love, you’re the middle child and a girl! You’re just being selfish, OUR needs comes before yours right now!
Also Parents: WHY are you being a butthole to us?! We just wanna come to the wedding, where WE want the wedding about our SONS!
This is just the parents’ excuses to play favorites with their “Autistic” sons and spoil them while ignoring the middle child, a GIRL, in the family.
Their actions against OP is beyond toxic: not buying the things she needed for school or such, not coming to OP’s special events, not celebrating the holidays with her…
And when OP DOESN’T want to invite her parents and brothers to the wedding, the parents throws a tantrum and makes a “Where did we go WRONG?!” post online like the hypocrites they are.
Yeah, no. They have their “babies”, that should be good enough for them, not flaunt them off and making them the stars of every event.
Also, the Grandma knows SQUAT about what OP went through most of her life, so for her to say “What you did was a low blow” is a joke!

Story 3: Low? Or not low enough!
For years OP has been put on the shelf watching while her brothers get everything they wanted while she had to BEG for scraps from the parents
And the one first thing the parents asked (well demanded) after realizing their daughter was getting married, was to situate the wedding around the brothers' needs and restricting the things OP wants. The ONE day that is all about the couple coming together, would have been changed to make the brothers once again the center of attention.
They have not changed. Throwing that line back in their face was the very LEAST cruel thing OP could have done
Story 4: Oh wow where to start with this -_-
So the couple were looking to hook up AT A BABY SHOWER was already weird enough. The fact that these 'family friends' knew OPs daughter since she was 12...that just screams the creep who waits until them kids are legal. And they did get an answer to their proposition, it was no. But they still tried to pressure OPs daughter and her BF to coming back to their place, refusing no as an answer. And when called out on it, they pull the 'don't kink shame me', 'your daughter is an adult' 'we'll sue', and the all mighty 'we're autistic' cards.
They're not sorry and given the next opportunity they'll try and do it again. And I'll be scared because A.) they don't know boundaries and B) the word No is not in their dictionary
