'you can't set that girl boundaries' - boyfriend who cheated with that girl.
"I did because I thought it would make her move on!" instead of telling her to back off - being harsh if necessary.
Lol
I mean not like the boyfriend wasn't a dirty cheater but he wasn't exactly wrong about that one.
OP is 26. She shouldn't be acting like she's still in highschool trapped in a neverending rendition of mean girls.
She had it bad for your boyfriend, but he didn’t have enough integrity to refuse her
I hope facing the consequences of his spinelessness taught him well. May he never cheat again.
@@Lopitra He seems to have grown from it, but I applaud OP for standing up for herself and dumping him. I hope he keeps what little spine he's grown in his next relationship.
OP did nothing to stop it. It wouldn’t have happened if she was brave enough to face Jessie and to tell her boyfriend that he needs to push Jessie away. If the toaster catches on fire, you put it down. You don’t wait for the fire to grow big so it can burn down the house. You know what I mean ?.
He had no tegridy. It JUST so happens that I know a guy with a farm full of Tegridy!
@@MordorProjectum no.. that’s not how cheating works. He could have just said no? And been a decent human being- knowing he’s in a relationship! It’s HIS responsibility to not cheat lmao. What’s stopping him from cheating with other girls who push themselves on him ?
Like all cheaters, the ex-bf doesn't feel remorse or regret about the cheating. He only regrets that he was caught.
And like all cheaters he realize he frickt up big time very late
I would feel bad for him but he is a cheater so he doesn't get sympathie
@@juliaboskamp9666
Why'd you spell sympathy all French-like?
@@Richard_Nickersonthat's how french people spell it?
Actually, in rare cases, some 'cheaters' have remorse and regret. But in those rare cases, either the person doesn't actually cheat(IE they were assaulted or had been under the influence of drugs and had not been in their right mind), OR the person starts to try and fix things before getting caught and usually confess to the cheating.
The problem isn't that they don't show regret, it's that they only start regretting AFTER getting caught.
There was one OP where he cheated for a couple months, realized cheating was not what he should be doing, tried to work on the marriage, wife found out about the affair a bit down the line, and basically became his Prison Warden for 2 years. And it turns out _she_ was cheating the entire time, since before they got married, and only started showing 'regret' after getting caught herself.
They are, of course, the exception that proves the rule, that normally cheaters don't regret until after getting caught. But they still happen.
Cheaters just suck.
That last story was incredibly heartwarming, which is something I definitely needed after hearing that first one
I had something like that happen with a kid i take care of from time to time and it also just made me tear up ❤
I keep hoping for a best of updates with nothing but heart warming stories.
Right? Now, I have to stop cutting all these onions...*sniff*...its bad for my eyes...*beaks down in tears fully*
Jessie is the definition of a pick me. Gross.
She is a fake friend and a pick me karma will get to her
No, she is more the dominant toxic cheerleader in high-school stereotypes.
Jessie is so insecure, she's basically saying "I'm worthless, but OP is nice. Her boyfriend likes her, so if I get him to like me, then I must be good too"
@@dudeorduuude5211 Basically the same thing. Putting down other women for men’s attention- like the people you’re describing lol.
she have a lot of guy friends, and she needs ALL of the sausage, it's very rude and inconsiderate for OP of having a boyfriend of her own and not share...
"There was an update, but it wasn't super interesting" Proceeds to glaze over Very interesting bits.
RIGHT! LOL Luckily I already heard that one on a different channel so I know all the details.
I mean can’t we be the ones to judge?
@@SweetLala25 Wait, what are the juicy details?

OP: "$650 a month including utilities."
Friend's brother probably: *"NOT GOOD ENOUGH!"*
Friends brother :" why aren't you paying me to exist in you're house lady ehhhhh"....
I think it was including utilities not plus utilities. Big difference.
Where is this apartment and where can I rent it?
@@thetruth1223

@@ShadowTaipan
OP said they aren't renting it anymore
story 2 is a perfect example of why you should never bite the hand that feeds you
And in OPs case, always cover your self. I can’t think of any place where $650 a month will get you a two bedroom basement suite with utilities. When OP high balled and offered over 3000 in rent, that sounds more realistic.
Yep
The best words we get to hear: and then OP posted an update!
Not really like not at all
I've never had an orgvsm but I assume it the same exact feeling I get from hearing this sentence and an explosive one if there's a second update lol
Story 1 has been covered by Dab already
Second story, to start with? Even $775 is a giant steal for an apartment that big and all utilities regardless of where you are. The ex roommate is honestly a giant entitled idiot who blew what was basically a once in a lifetime chance people would kill over.
Yeah! if the teacher had any common sense he would have stayed quite and saved his money so eventually HE could buy a house of his own! He was so blinded by the fact his money "payed the mortgage" he forgot to add up all the utilities he got for free! in his mind HE shouldn't have to pay anything since there is no "landlord" just his brother's friend! I wonder why he wanted to start giving his money directly to the landlord? makes me think he wanted to go behind OP to kick him out or something like that but the plan failed when he found out OP was the landlord!
I absolutely hate to bring politics into it, but teachers tend to be on the left side of the political graph. The Left has the wrong idea that "all" landlords are evil, greedy monsters. And that housing is a human right, and so should be free. (Spoiler alert: Nothing that requries the labor of others can ever be a human right.) It was never about the rent. It was about OP being a landlord. Not his landlord, but just a landlord.
@SailorMya Yeah he thought if OP was paying the same amount he'd go to the landlord and offer to pay slightly more for the upstairs instead of the basement. He really should have looked into rental prices after getting into a fight with OP. But what did he think the real landlord if it hadn't been OP was doing with the money? They pay bills. If not mortgage on that property then the one where the landlord was living.
Story 2: that teacher doesnt deserve to be teaching if hes that dumb about rent prices and tenant laws
“Covering his mortgage” like isn’t that what rent is 😭 for a teacher he’s so stupid
Yes, and getting angry so easily all the time.
He is a cheap creep! Who cares what happened!
I can't imagine getting mad at paying $650 for rent.
Places for rent where I live go upwards of 1500-3000$ depending on what your looking for. 1 bedroom crack den looking shit holes cost more than that teachers rent does where I live! Shit I'd happily pay $650 for rent with a smile on my face and a thank you right behind it. The only way you'd be paying less than 1000$ where I live if it was a shares house and you were just renting the single bedroom (usually used for people in college) you'd never be able to find a decent apartment for less than $1000 that actually provided privacy.
This teacher needs to go back to school himself it seems 😅😅 not too bright
Can’t be too smart if he’d prefer paying market rate to a huge corporation to fuel their profits, but not paying way below market to a small landlord to pay their mortgage for the place he’s living. I mean, what does he think rent is to a landlord of any size? It’s their income; of course they’re gonna pay their bills with it. If he has an issue with that, he should buy his own place and pay the bank so they can make a profit.
The last story both OP and his adopted daughter are so mature in that conversation. It was so sweet!
Is it adopted when they share blood? An older sibling, especially by such a large margin, is already a parent in all but title. IMO, she is straight up his daughter
Story 1: "the common friend said "look i don't wanna get involved but you should watch it" I asked what he meant he said "nothing just watch it".
Why do people do this clearly its not nothing if you know something tell them stop being cryptic and tell them what they need to know
My thoughts exactly.
I'm glad that he later realized how dumb that was and just came out and said it. Because wtf is "watch it" supposed to mean. It sounds like a dang threat!
That last story.
You can't choose who birthed you, but you can choose your family.
I'm so happy for those two.
omg the last one is so heartwarming. I wish those two all the best.
I think the reason i love r/bestof is because in some of these stories, i want to know what happens next. I wanna know what the eventual fallout will be :3
Same here, but then some of those stories feel a bit incomplete in some ways
Ikr? I can't stand listening to incomplete stories. So I pretty much only listen to r/bestof, stories about Kevin, choosing beggers or entitled parents.
Yes, I love when Dabney reads that sub because otherwise I'm searching the user on Reddit while listening to rSlash to see if there was an update, lol.
@@rhondah.1478 sometimes Mark Narrations, Lost Genre and Jay Mick reads them with the updates but it's kind of tricky to remember when some of those stories were read.
@audreym3908 yes! I hate when I can't get closure. 🤣
Story 1: Hope it was worth it, JessIe. She broke a relationship in the hopes of stealing the BF, and she lost multiple friends, a vacation, and the guy even rejected her because he was torn by the whole thing.
I don't feel bad for the BF, but I hope he learned his lesson and finds better people
I know right he lost someone he loved because he slept with someone he didn't even like the biggest fumble of all time.
Jessie needs to read Ann M Martin's book "Slam Book". Paige breaks up Cassie and Gooz by writing in the slam book with disguised handwriting that Cassie is a liar who didn't really go the whole way with Gooz (even though she doesn't know if Cassie ever made that claim). But it backfires since Gooz isn't interested in Paige. In fact, he's more interested in her friend Anna, and so Paige starts writing undisguised things in the book, calling Anna a "boy-stealer" and "Pretty to look at but dangerous to touch". One of Anna's attempts to get back at Paige actually causes a girl in their class to commit suicide. This story meets Heathers, anyone?
Story 2: Geez, he had everything laid out for him, but he just threw it all away because of one misunderstanding and claims that he was taken advantage of.
Buddy. Friend. Pal. If you think all of that for $650 is not good enough and is considered "Taking advantage," then you're a lost cause. I would've taken that deal!
Oof
I think his only comparison in life is mommy and daddy's house.
How is having devil tango with your girlfriend "best friend" ever a good idea. Ex-boyfriend said he did it once so Jessie will move on but after that he did it multiple, and says it's nothing that guy is a cheater and OP deserves a better friend and a better boyfriend
Bahahaha! Devil tango.
Yep
@@dudeorduuude5211 RSlash needs to use that as a description for cheaters lol
Ahh, the old I'll sleep with her to get her to leave me alone play.
It's more like "I'll sleep with her to wake up alone."
Is he lousy in the sack?
Well, he did get left alone.
That only works with certain guys. In the words of singer Courtney Love, "They get what they want, and they never want it again. . ."
Only thing more pathetic than dating a known cheater is that cheater rejecting you.
I guess Jessie was obnoxiously correct that it was all for the best. OP was able to shed dead weight when her “friend” and now ex showed their true colors, AND both liars lost what they really wanted when their lies blew up in their faces. Bittersweet for OP, but some satisfying justice for the snakes in her life.
Wait wait wait... rent is *always* compensating for mortgage. That's literally normal.
And $650/month for an entire basement to yourself and all utilities included? We're seriously calling this a *bad* deal?
I'd kick the guy out and stop talking to those who agree with him.
Edit: Back in like 2010-2013, I lived in a house with 3 roommates for $400/month each ($1600/month total) with NO utilities included and THAT was a steal. Add a decade of time and utilities, and $650 for a whole floor to yourself + utilities, and that's obviously a great deal.
I watched this story read on another channel with 2 people in their early 20s reading it. It took them a while to understand, and they weren't sure if OP was charging too much. It tool them reading multiple comments, explaining why, explaining life to them, that they understood. Naivete is sometimes painful to watch.
@@dudeorduuude5211
Literally just have to Google rent for 2 bedrooms in their area to get an idea
@@dudeorduuude5211
The inability and unwillingness to Google something is a very real problem. We have ALL of information at our fingertips, and people would rather be confused and assume incorrectly.
Wow imagine being a toxic bully then saying you're the jealous one.....op you dodged a thermonuclear device
"Prank spanking?" Ummmmmm no. That ain't a prank.
Exactly. If he consents then it's flirting and if he doesn't it's assault but either way completely inappropriate.
Bestof is officially the best subreddit now it’s so satisfying knowing there’s an update ❤
"Watch it" sounded so threatening but it was actually that friend warning OP 🙏🏻 I was super worried for a hot minute
ROTFL Dude was getting a sweetheart deal on an apartment then a wrecking ball sized reality hit him in the face.
They made a business transaction. I have a space to rent in a home. It includes utilities. This is the price. He agreed and signed the agreement. Done.
Most landlords use the rent money to pay for some of all of the mortgage. But, OP is correct. Where the rent money is going has absolutely no bearing on the rental transaction. OP did nothing wrong and the friends should butt out. If they want to rent to this guy at lower rates, then , "THEY CAN RENT TO HIM AT A LOWER RENT!"
S1) Both Jessie and the Ex suck. So glad OP tossed them where they belong.
S2) Time to serve him a eviction notice and have witnesses there to do it.
S3) What a sweet family. OP I hope you two continue to have a healthy relationship.
Story 2: NTA. OP’s roommate had a sweet deal, below rent rate and all the amenities. He not only wrecked the kitchenette but also op’s walls.
The tenant was flat-out entitled and an idiot. OF COURSE the rent was paying part of the mortgage, that's how renting something the owner just bought works!
In fact, in OP's place I'd have had him pay the entire mortgage since it was still well below market rate.
Exactly. Plus utilities, upkeep, insurance, property taxes, etc. And the financial risk of putting up that much money on a large asset.
@@dudeorduuude5211 Talked of this story with my father. He says the renter is a double idiot.
My question is, why would/should it make ANY difference what OP uses the rent payments for??? It’s not the tenant’s business.
@@susangrande8142 It doesn't, it was just a poor excuse to demand a lower rent.
@@lordMartiya I’m trying to understand the tenant’s reasoning/logic.
That last story was the sweetest thing ;-;
I know you edited out your Dad crying at the end R/slash. I love how emotional you get with father daughter stories now. Its so sweet!
That renter got better than he deserved. Landlord tenat laws and lease agreements are pretty clear. He had no leg to stand on and no excuse for not knowing OP was the landlord. OP should have forced him to pay penalties but decided to be nice about it. Usually this amounts to the rent owed plus a months rent. That guy is an idiot and i can't believe he tried to move back in after how he treated OP. His life will be a sh*t show of bad decisions.
Homeowner story:
OP has every right to evict this selfish idiot, and her finances are nobody’s business. I don’t care if she made $600.00 over her mortgage every month, it’s still not his business. If he doesn’t like it, he can always find a “cheaper,” place to live.
I really enjoy when you end the episode on a wholesome story like this. It helps forget the toxicity of some of the posts.
2nd Story, I'm sturggling to understand why the guy is annoyed about paying OP's mortgage for her. Doesn't he realise that's how small landlords operate? They buy the property with a mortgage and then pay it off with the earnings paid by the renter
That last story is the good version of BrotherDad and SisterDaugther.
WHERE IN THE WORLD IS YOUR DOG
?
Upstairs, not in the studio, like it should be. Dabney wants to call this a business. Having a dog interrupt your recordings isn't professional.
Yea puppy bloopers!?
Yugo isn’t really a puppy anymore and if I recalled correctly Rslash said that yugo waits up at the top of the stairs of his basement entrance
He’s upstairs. He mentioned in a previous video now that his daughter is older and his neighbor’s landscaping business makes it harder to record because of the noise, so he bought like a sound booth thing. I miss the puppy bloopers too.
Basement apartment story, sounds like when the friend found out that Op owned the house he decided he was going to take full advantage of his friend to the fullest extent that he could
“The former tenant” ☕️
Tenant story: Why is it so common that somebody hears they have a 5 finger discount on rent, and their immediate response is to spit all over it? Just be happy about the discount!
You could say it's like they think they're being taken advantage of or I'm paying too much of this because it doesn't make any sense. Like they think they're better off not paying. We all know its arrogance but the guy got the reality.
After all to them, free is way too expensive
5 finger discount means free by theft.
I just wanted to say thank you for ur videos! I listen to them all the time lately and I found (after listening to r/mr Reddit) that I love ur voice. I can only handle a little of the others but I can listen to ur regularly and it’s calming. So thank u again for making videos!
Baby Sister: I think he should tell the kid that he’s always felt more like her dad than her brother because as much as telling her she can call her dad if she wants is amazing I think she’d love to know (considering she sees him as her dad) that he ALSO sees him as her dad and always has. Like that would be amazing to hear for her I think
The rent thing... simple solution. Tell him to try and find a better deal, not to take the deal, but if he can find one, you'll consider lowering the price to match it.
If you truly are charging half the standard, he won't find one.
If I was in the situation of the renter, even assuming I got pissed off about "Lying" about the landlord thing, I'd do my research and figure out if it is a good deal before doing anything.
Funny to think with 'the power of heartbreak' he was able to refuse Jessi's advance while his loyalty to OP is not enough. Lol
Due to the timezone difference, this is the earliest I've been to an RSlash video in years...
Drives me nuts that Rslash’ll skip over updates with interesting details just because he doesn’t feel like reading them. :\
Yes, but this story was out for a while and was constantly read so I don't mind it
The last story has me crying 🥺 so sweet and I love the look guys get when a kid calls them dad for the first time 🥺🥺🥺
I acted as a live-in nanny for my lil sisters who are 18 & 20 years younger than me, and each of me and my parents had our specific roles in taking care of them, my mom was the bread winner so financial, my dad took care of cooking, cleaning, and the like so physical, and I watched after my sisters and was there to help them, listen to their problems, etc so emotional. Hearing them tell me that growing up they considered me like their third parent made me cry so many happy tears. I may not have been able to be Dad or Mom (is enby), but knowing that they think of me like that just makes me so happy.
Story one: I have heard it before but I still glad op got out of that train wreck and imagine being so delusional that after you cheated with your “best friend’s” boyfriend that you were still thinking you were getting an all expenses paid holiday. What a dumb dumb (I have other choice words but CZcams would ban me 😂)
Story two: I genuinely know a few people like that, but idiots are going to idiot
Story three: can we please have more wholesome stories like this please it was so refreshing and lovely
My ex bff tried to give me a Kris Kringle present the day after she dumped me because she'd already bought it. I refused to accept it, even though it was something I really liked. I don't take presents from people who aren't my friends.
1st story is the poster child for FAFO
Story two: I have been in exactly this situation. The "tenant" ignores the added cost of taxes, utilities and maintenance, let alone the sweetheart deal he was already getting. Been there, done that. OP would be wise to rent only to people after she has seen their previous home.
Thank you for closing it with “baby sister”. Made my day a happier day!
In my town, a house goes for 300,000 - 600,000 and apartment rent for a one bed room is at least 1000$ a month
I feel a sensation of déjà-lu on that first story.
someone must be slicing onions during that last story, my eye's seem to be watery,
WTF your renting the basement for a great price. If the house was paid off should the a$$ get free rent? My lord, of course you are not wrong.
Sounds like r/choosingbeggars to me
Friends brother :" why aren't you paying me to exist in you're house lady ehhhhh"..
I'm in Cleveland, working a good job, and I can't afford an apartment. Prices r BAD
I live with 2 friends. Our rent (rent + utilities) is 900 total. There r 3 off us, right? One refused to get a second part-time job/better job.....so my rent is 400.......that makes sense to complain about because it doesn't make sense.
That friend needs a reality check
Come on RSlash ! Dont end the episode with such a teary story without any comment !!!!
Oh my effing glob! I have *also* been fought and screamed at over a lack of communication due to the other person blocking my number (and for no real reason, because we hadn't been fighting or anything).
How tf is it MY fault that you didn't get the texts then???
‘You can’t set boundaries with her’… dude, it’s 100% YOUR JOB to set boundaries with someone who is acting crazy with you
On the home owner story: that’s how it works. Would her friends be mad at her if she rented the room at market price to someone, that wasn’t connected to anybody they know, for them covering her complete mortgage payment? No they wouldn’t care, they would have told her good job on finding someone that would pay that price. But since the renter is a relative of someone they know, she’s evil and should be run out of town.
Last story was like "I cried. She crew too. We both crode".
That last story made me cry, it was so freaking cute and wholesome.
That last story was so sweet 🥹 I love a good palette cleanser to reaffirm my faith in humanity
I rented out a room in my house, it included Wi-Fi, cable. electricity, water, food, laundry and pretty much everything else I charged 400$ a month. Where I live you can't rent a couch for 1000$ a month. The person complained it was too much money for the same reason my mortgage is and was low (thanks to me saving my money). FYI, I did the cooking (making sure I made food they liked even if my family or I didn't), I did the laundry as long as it was outside the room in the bin. I had the best Cable/Wi-Fi money can buy (gamers).I went out of my way to make sure they felt welcomed and cared for. It was a HUGE lesson learned. I will NEVER have a roommate or let anyone ever stay with me again. Giving people a helping hand for some reason they think it's a pass too run you over.
As bad as this Jessie is, at least she's not as bad as the one that manipulated her PPD afflicted "friend" to the point that she offed herself.
That last story had me in tears. Such a beautiful story. ❤
Depending on the context the phrase: “I’ve always felt more like her dad than her brother.” Could be taken so differently. 😂
Good on OP. Such a wholesome story.

Story 1 - as a woman who's had many guy friends, i would never EVER act like your friend did when said guy friend is in a relationship. The ex bf was also clearly displaying red flags of cheating just by not stopping the behavior alone. A chick like jessie is the type of girl who uses their looks, what small personality they have, while manipulating others to get what SHE wants without care. I hope OP learns from this and finds a better friend and a better man
Oh my gosh. I can't imagine nuking such a freaking fantastic rental opportunity.
On that last story, I really relate to that story since I was also raised by my brother.
Story 2: Theres a mindset in ppl nowadays that is like "Everyone is and will try to screw you up, they're just hiding it." So the moment that teacher get the thought that he can get more from OP he went nuclear for it. And when reality comes regret kick in, and the sad truth is he'll still think that hes not the problem lol. The fact that hes a teacher adds another layer of humor on it haha.
1st story: Hear that? That's the sound of everyone hearing "I only slept with her to make her go away" saying BS at the same time.
2nd Story: "You used the money I owe you to BUY things for yourself?! THAT'S ILLEGAL!!!!!!!"
The last story is so heartwarming ❤
don’t see enough people talking about the last story so i will. that was adorable. thanks dad
I’m the oldest of 5. My youngest brother called me mom a few times. It was sweet, but at 16 I didn’t like it, nor was I adult enough to handle it well. I love the last story. Thanks R/ .
That last one got me right in the soft spot
First story seems like something from a classic teenage rom-com. Pretty girl can't handle less pretty friend getting a boyfriend and has to steal him, because he suddenly gets a lot more interesting, when he's not available.
STOP IM SOBBING, THAT LAST STORY MURDERED ME
15:35 as Yondu said in guardians of the falexy 2 “he may ave been your father boy, but he wasn’t your daddy.”
What? Of course he’s covering OP’s mortgage. That’s how RENTING works.
Story1: the rift between Jesse and OP will be impossible to hide from the parents, and I'm really curious as to how that plays out. I hope there's some accountability for Jesse there.
Gotta love how a cheater will push the woman away AFTER he cheats and ruins the relationship
I thought Rslash was going to say "aw that's so sweet you guys" at the end.
That last story is so heartwarming.
Story 2: "He said he didn't get my notice to enter his apartment because he blocked my number." Wow this guy is a real genius /s Poor OP, but that story had me laughing pretty hard at that guy's audacity.
I've found that keeping a loose girl around helps sort through potential spouses. Be glad these girls do us favors that show who these guys truly are before we throw years away on them.
the last story was so wholesome ... but my immediate thought was being at a get together and him saying "yeah im taking care of my sister" and they hear her say "dad" right after ... I only know of a few places in the world where you would not need to immediately give an explanation to stop the confusion :P
As a math and English teacher, that diss at the end of the renting story slaps hard like a DMX song.
I always start my day with you! When I’m working before 8, I wait all day until you post. Ty so much for the schedule. I like routine and you make my days brighter ❤
**sigh** That’s the problem with these types of “people.” They don’t just want to have their cake and eat it too… they want the ENTIRE DAMNED BAKERY. 😑
BF: You won't set boundaries with this girl.
BF: I slept with her because she was pestering me, idk.
Final Story:
This Dude is a Dad-Bro or a Bro-Dad to his Little Sister. Like you can't even get as Wholesome as that. Like wow, he has been the Light in her World since he got custody of her. He's always been there FOR HER, not because he was Obligated to but because he knew that he is what and who she needed in her Life. Brings Tears to my Eyes, and I'm just shocked that rSlash didn't even have any Commentary about it! Like Seriously Dude? You read this Absolute Wholesome Story and you don't even have any Commentary about it!? Like What!?
The lowest rented apartment in my area within 5 cities is $850/month in a crappy part of town. The highest is around $2,200-2,600 for a 3-bed 2 bath condo that don't have an option for single bed single bath. I don't feel bad for that awful tenant at _all._
Second story: Its purely bias against landlords if anyone is giving OP grief.
STORY 1: Behind every girl like Jessie, there is a spineless girl like OP who enables & tolerates Jessie's behaviour.
Hope OP learns something from this experience and puts meaningful boundaries in her future friendships & relationships.
Story1 It isn't normal. She can't grasp that any guy could possibly prefer Op to her and plans to prove it isn't so in order to make herself feel better. Op should expect this to repeat throughout the pseudo-friendship if she stays with it.
