My theory: the halo device does offer immortality but not to the wearer. The halo device is the builder of the devices chance at immortality. It turns the wearer into the builder.
My theory: It provides immortality. But the device was not made for other aliens(humans). If used by a human. There would be profound side effects like terrible mutation on the wearer.
@@sashisasj3850 I like this one. The device was made with another species in mind and so it would reconfigure the user to the specs of the unknown species. It likely does rejuvenate the user but the cost is being reformed into something not your own species.

The only thing that makes me doubt it is the fact that Halo devices are always on dead worlds with dead civilizations.
Surely a device that remix the user into the image of the maker would not be from a species that has fallen to time.
QUESTION! Listening to Gersh describe the side effects of the Halo artifacts is word for word describing the symptoms Conrad Curse suffered from, even his unnatural healing , and craving for drinking blood and eating flesh , he was also wreaked with horror filled fits and dreams of madnesses. Do you guys think that Curse was a carrier of a halo device? Maybe that famous crown artifact he was known to wear everywhere.

I think the reason people who use the halo devices hunger for human flesh its because the device doesnt have enough living matter to finish the transformation without adding some

I guess the halo devices were created for the alien race to attain immortality, by assimilation.
Step 1: be the Emperor
Step 2: have everyone else die for you
Would it be possible to discover the history of the Halo Devices' creators by 'infencting' a volunteer with one and monitoring their thoughts? Assuming, naturally, that there would be an Inquisitor or Adept radical enough to take such a risk.
What if these things were made for the necrontyr by the old ones when they asked them for immortality, but experiment failed or it was to costly and unpredictable so old ones abandoned it?

Question: Cypher, Aka the Fallen Angel, is reputed to have lived thousands of years. Far beyond mortal and even space marine lifespans.Thus causing suspition that he is tainted by chaos or he is not simply one person. Could he not have obtained one if the halo artifacts to immortalize himself in order to achieve his hidden goal? A man of his renown could surely have a chance of obtaining this artifact. The halo devices are form a species that challange the ruinous powers by trying to be chaos gods themselves.
Question: After some watching Stargate Sg-1 series, there was artifact that were capable of healing persons wounds(1st version to series System Lords to heal any wound in sarcophagi) . So my question is there any piece of relic artifact human or xeno technology that could be used on Emperor to heal those wounds while on Golden Throne and not needing remove him and daemons flooding in.
