Stop saying Staley was a bad coach he was one of the worst of all time, we watched that man sabotage games in front of our own eyes. He should’ve been investigated. We had the worst defense worst coach and at least Justin Herbert is healthy. Tua is one concussion away from retirement and Joe burrow keeps breaking.

They continue to miss the forest for the trees. Harbaugh is not here to turn Herbert into a winner. He is here to turn the Chargers into winners. Harbaugh is the ultimate team, organization, and culture builder. The team’s identity in Herbert’s career so far has been Herbert be Superman or lose. Harbaugh will give the Chargers its first respectable defense since Herbert came into the league. He will give them their first respectable run game. He will eliminate the hilariously bad situational mishaps and overall terrible coaching this team has had. He will build a physicality in the trenches this team so desperately needs. Herbert will be asked to do so much less, and the Chargers team will be perennial contenders for it. Herbert has proven when his number is called, he can deliver. Asking him to do it every single week, putting everything on his shoulders, including one of the leagues worst defenses, and calling him a loser is just ignorant. No idea how this guy was ever given a show to talk football.

This is not about excuses.
It is about coaching and decision-making at all levels of the game. Herbert, over the past 4 years, leads all qbs in YDS, TDS, AND COMP PERCENTAGE.
He has done that, IN SPITE of having 3 different head coaches, a litany of QB and OC coaches, and an abysmal defense. Context definitely matters.
The stats looks good but still can't win games. And the 3 different head coaches is weird to put as a defense, due to other quarterbacks going though the same issue. Yet, they also get the blame for losing games despite not winning games but having good numbers. There goes the picking and choosing who gets blames and who doesn't, which the media loves to do for Bert.

Yeah I agree, the media does pick sides. Just remember Tua came from Bama, was a Heisman finalist, Burrow won a hesiman and Hurts gets attention from being in a saturated market and throws to a heisman WR.
Herbert has never had any of that spotlight yet gets the most criticism. Indeed, he's proven nothing yet but nor have Tua, Burrow, Love or Hurts. Losing a superbowl means nothing in the end.

Prior to Staley, chargers defense was top 10. Since Staley, it’s been dead last. That’s context. The chargers have scored more points than any other team since Herbert started but the defense has given up more points than any other team since Herbert has started. That’s Context.

Mike Williams has played 16 of the last 35 games, Austin Ekeler averaged 3.5 ypc this season, Josh Palmer missed most of the season, their starting center is probably retiring and missed most of the season this year, so im just trying to figure out what weapon(s) he's talking about??? Top it all of this off with the defense being horrific since Herb got there, bad coaching, what QB is going to thrive in that situation?? Herb isn't without blame he's the starting QB so he will always get majority credit and blame, but we have to stop saying that adding context or nuance to a discussion is the same as making "excuses".

You have to consider how bad the Chargers defense and special teams have been with Herbert’s tenure. Not to mention the injuries to his weapons and how abysmal the o line had been in the past. Harbaugh should clean that up so we should be able to see what Herbert is made up. All the pressure is on Herbert now.

I seriously can’t believe people keep saying that Herbert has weapons. Like WHAT weapons? Mike Will who’s always hurt? Austin Ekeler who didn’t play well AT ALL this season? Starting center was out majority of the season and the rest of the Oline crumbled. Josh Palmer was out too, and the TE’s are streaky a lot of the time. He literally had practice squad guys taking routes out there man like c’mon now. Yes, he deserves blame because he has the ball in his hands but to say he has always had weapons is not true. His most effective weapon is Keenan and even he has been hurt a lot these past few seasons.

I know it’s been a while since Kapernick has played so people’s memory may diminish over time but I think folks forget how talented Kap was. That’s why he shipped out a then rebuilt and successful former number 1 overall pick in Alex Smith. What Harbaugh does as a coach when it comes to quarterbacks is he fine tunes their decision making. I’ve been a Michigan fan my whole life so watching him work with quarterbacks at the university every QB gets better because he builds their confidence 1st and then corrects their field vision and decision making. Herbert will have his best years under Harbaugh and you can book that.
