Love the photo in Mario house with Paper Mario 1 companions. Makes a great HD cameo of the past partners. Please let the old partners come back as cameo in TTYD like Bows.
I love Bow, but there's no way Nintendo is making completely new sprites for the Paper Mario 1 partners just for a little cameo.
@SaltyToad00 keeping in mind these are basically the same sprites as the gamecube albeit more detailed and fixed up, there’s a possibility they could reappear, in the original they have unused sprites so maybe who knows if nintendo decided to touch them up and add them back into the game
@@SaltyToad00they already did though
Bow was already in TTYD's post-game. In fact, she was the ONLY 64 partner to make it in the game, as the others were cut from the final release.
I really wish they remastered the first game too
It's amazing how leaning into the paper world aesthetic makes everything looks so much more fluid and natural.
Actually it’s the opposit
It’s the opposite for me. It looks unnatural and stiff compared to the original
@@115zombies935 The stiffness is what makes it natural. They’re made of paper so they now move in a believable way for them.
@@primrosevale1995 It doesn’t look right. Compared to the original at least.
I think the most important detail from this is that Fire Emblem Toad appears to be back in Petalburg.
they also re-released the fire emblem game he references on switch virtual console last year :)
Left: Fidelity mode
Right: Performance mode
Jokes aside, damn this remake looks more and more visually stunning the more I see it! So glad we only have less than a month left away from it
Is it still locked at 30 fps?
It's a shame you're not allowed to be excited for this game while also able to criticise it. In this comments section if you dare complain about the downgraded frame rate you're called out and insulted.
A true fan criticises what they love so it can grow and become better. A fanboy just swallows whatever a company puts out.
@@dinar8749Don't worry, fans will provide a 60fps patch for new Super Switch XL users!
Well if you played in docked mode, you can still set playing in 60fps. Game cube is a console after all while Nintendo switch is handheld like console.
@@dinar8749because the frame rate is a literal fucking non-issue in a game like this. It's an incredibly stupid thing to criticize but people are programmed to believe 60 fps or bust, and will spout it without understanding what they're talking about.
I still dont want to know how doopliss spends his “Me Time”
He spends it by turning villagers into pigs, of course
"Folding his flap"
squeezing his hog of course, cuz you know turns people into pigs
@@brolytriplethreat It's just a prank! He's "cranking the hog's leg," as it were.
Oinking his little Doopliss
Aight NINTENDO, you got the CLUE, now make a TRUE , TRUEEEEEE Sequal to Paper Mario TTYD or something, and NOT the TEMU Versions y'all been dishing out these last 8+ YEARS!!!!
My boy! Look at how they polished up my boy!!!!
One thing (of multiple things, of course) I love about this remake so far is just how much more expressive everyone is.
I love how the characters are more expressive and animated. Little stuff like this goes a long way.
The remake looks absolutely perfect.
Looking at his concept art, and wooooo some of these designs are much better than what we got in the final game. I really love the one with the scythe.
Not surprising by showing off concept of something there always be that one person
@@Yoshizuyuner What's that supposed to mean? I'm just saying these designs looked so damn cool. It's not like I hate what we got, but it's fun to wonder on what could've been.
I love the details they added. Some of the lighting effects wash out the color though. Maybe it won't be like that once we have the game. But overall it's surprising how well the GC version graphics hold up even now
There’s a typo in the title. You forgot an S in Doopliss
Just saw the title and was about to say this as well.
Should've left out the P
I hope they add an Easter egg for when you try to guess the names "DooPliss" or "Doo liss"
You mean Doo_liss
I don't understand why people have an issue with the frame rate. The remake still looks absolutely amazing. But, to each their own.
DOOPLISS LOOKS SO CUTE!
Sad that it’s not a trilogy with paper Mario 64 and super paper mario but this is still beyond amazing
Can’t wait!
wait there is no way the new partner selection quick-menu took the same time as selecting a partner the old fashioned way! XD
1:52 its nice seeing a render of paper mario 64's head in hd.
Idc if it runs at 30 FPS it looks fantastic. Princess peach showtime also ran at 30. The switch is being pushed to the limit with some of these recent releases. Its time for an update it’s time for switch 2
All the little details from the characters to even the scenery! You can tell they put more heart into this!
Not really. Game was made in HD while making the original. same game. Simple port of a game that was originally created in HD, the compressed down to GameCube specs. Nintendo knew they would release this in HD so they simply export to HD, patch a few buttons, same game. Yet Tris and Minions think it's a GROUND UP remake. It's not (mario RPG was btw). This is a simple port, easy to do, mega double dip cash grab. Don't believe anything else.
Ignore reply. This is a remake from the ground up. That's not subjective, it's fact, different art style.
@@SuburbanNightmareChannel Only fact here is: you're an ass!
@@undergroundhiphopfan6335 You're brainwashed into thinking this. Most of the previews, especially POLYGON, siding with me. It's pretty much the same game with a tiny coat of paint.
Honestly I don't care if played in 30fps. I never owned Gamecube and getting one now is pretty expensive. I have a Nintendo Switch so as long as the game is released on switch, I can finally play it to experience
My man got quite the "slick" makeover!
This makes me hope that well get a remake of the very first Paper Mario, too. At some point at least
That paper blowing away with the purple lady is what I came here for. WAY better in this one. Can’t wait to finally play it!
I kid you all not, Doopliss scared the crud out of me when I was a kid.
At 1:30 it looked better in the GCN version when the flowers are on top of the letterbox covering the whole screen. But I love the lighting in the remake.
1:59 DAYUUUUUM LOOK AT THE GLITZ PIT
it looks a million times better with such lighting improvements and npcs being actually able to look towards the stadium and not towards the screen, facing us :D
i still hate the frame rate on the switch 😩😩
It doesn’t matter, would you rather have this remake happen with with a barely different frame rate or have Nintendo not bother, I don’t want everyone complaining about the frame rate to cause them to say “wow they don’t care about the old rpg games” and STOP. The frame rate doesn’t matter as much as the remakes ok
We are under one month of waiting now.
1:52 here's Dr pootis
I loved paper Mario on the switch
30fps when the original was 60 is such a Nintendo thing to do. Inferior right out of the box.
There are some things I like better visually about both. Not sure how to feel. Seeming them side by side you can definitely tell the original is so much smoother though.
Didnt need much more reasons to buy this remake. Looks fantastic. Cant wait to be a kid again. 😊
Hype is real!!!
Can someone tell me what is the name of this song?
The thousand year door title theme.
Whenever I see the thumbnail of one of these comparison videos I always wonder why the new one looks so much worse than the old one, then remind myself that the new one is on the left
Yes....YEs....YES....
& MORE YYYEEEESSSSSS!!!! LFG!!!!!!!😂
define woke
Is it me? Or is there some parts the Switch version looks darker🤔?
looks great
Im really going to miss the 60fps of the original. I value framerate over graphical fidelity. I would have taken a hit on the graphics for more smoothness
Same.
Same here... most of the time.
In this case though, as long as it's a rock solid 30fps, this type of game doesn't NEED to be running at 60fps... meaning, it doesn't absolutely require fast twitch reflexes to play it at some higher competitive level.
tell us where you can see the difference lmao.
you see lower number and think "hurr durr its worse"
@@DkKobaADV fanboy
@@DkKobaADV The difference is literally in this video. Having them side by side just makes it even more jarring. Perhaps you don't have your CZcams output to 60fps? If you can't tell the difference then that's great for you, you can play games at half the framerate and not even notice but for most people with eyes, the difference is fairly obvious
It all looks so good. Boggly Woods is my favorite remade location!
I hope Paper Mario 64 also get a remake
Nintendo switch online would like to have a word with you. Paper Mario 64 is already on Nintendo switch online meaning we won’t get a remake for paper Mario 64.
BEHOLD MARIO!! ADVANCED SHADING AND LIGHTING!! MWAHAHA!
GOD I hope they do super paper mario too 🥺
Eh
Sure, if they make it turn based! Although I do think SPM had some of the best writing of the series
The Wiimote dpad gave me a few blisters, but other than that and the blatantly contrived dialogue for the samurai world, it was a fantastic game.
@@elliottself3633 Not every paper mario needs to be turnbased. Super is fine the way it is. I would argue Super is the second best paper mario game below 64 or the best above.
@dave9515 Every Paper Mario game needs to be turn-based. Super Paper Mario is so bad.

Its so pretty!
Honestly don't understand why a game with graphics this basic is 30fps on the Switch
It didn't need to be. Shame. Still getting it though because yknow classic paper mario n all
I say vote with your wallet. We have our own expectations and we’re not obligated to buy a product that doesn’t meet them .
The game appears to have similar graphics to the Origami King (which also runs at 30 frames per second). It is possible that the game could run at 60 frames per second, but there may be occasional frame drops. This may have led Intelligent Systems to decide to lower the frame rate to 30 frames per second.
@@tictactoecraft I feel like it's just lazyness, it doesn't seem right
@@wausjackbauer128 While it is a regrettable downgrade, I do not believe it will have a detrimental impact on the overall experience.
Nintendo should just remake all the other paper Mario games
Fixing Sticker Star would be way more difficult than just making a new Paper Mario from the ground up.
So it is going to be running at 30 frames per second?
Yes
So sad...
@@melchior6427 The remake is an upgrade in so many ways, but it's a huge shame about the frame rate.
I know Nintendo never does this, but i think this game needs a separate performance mode and a quality mode.
@@melchior6427 that would be great.
Incoming the FPS weirdos saying “30 fPs Is GaRbAgE!!! tHiS rEmAkE aLrEaDy SuCkS!!!”

Exhibit A ☝🏼🙄
Incoming the complacent fanboys who defend poor design choices
@@DarkNia64 tell us where you can see some sort of difference
framerate doesn't matter that much past 24/30fps if there aren't a lot of moving elements - primarily when you have camera control and you want to reduce blur in a 3D environment. In a 2.5D game, this is completely irrelevant. You are parroting something you have no clue about because you see smaller number and think "hurr its worse"
people like you are unserious.
@@DkKobaADV bro literally blind
They traded their frame rate and paper-related overlay effects for lighting, more frames to use, higher-def textures, and (hopefully) eliminating fog in that one building in Poshley Heights. That's their business, but it makes me think the original code couldn't be salvaged. Either that, or that lighting engine tanks performance.
I can't wait to play this again This is definitely going to be my go to version.
I see people claiming 60 fps “makes no difference” like their opinion is superior. Let people have their own opinions for goodness sake 😂
why they remove the pink stuff in the train boss fight
To hide weak point, maybe?
Can't wait to emulate this.
The FPS war is hilarious
No it's not. 60fps is objectively better than 30fps and the developers chose to make this remake 30fps for some strange reason.
Keeping little kids from saying first
Please help me snipe these spam bots too
Jesus, the GameCube game does not look that good in comparison. The environments are super simple.

@@Matt-eh2dy 60fps at least is better.
@@Matt-eh2dy Nah gameexplain made the footage blurr on purpose. Try playing the game yourself and judge it yourself. The crystal stars int eh remaster are stickers, the framerate isn't even stable 30 like the og being a stable 60 and the aesthetic lost its storybook charm the og had due to technical limitations. A complete and utter downgrade even with giving npcs more lively characteristics.
Nah, IMO the art style of the original is more timeless. The new one is a bit weird
They should've remade the first one first
Nah, TTYD was a good choice. Not only is Paper Mario 64 on NSO, but from a financial perspective, TTYD is just so much more popular and demanded.
Maybe they'll remake PM64 on the Switch 2, but I would hope they'd make an original title in the engine first.
There's also Super Paper Mario, which...yeah I'd be down for that too, but I really do want new games as well and not just remakes if this does well
@@brolytriplethreat TTYD never had a virtual console release either, 64 has had it 3 times if you count NSO.
framerate snobs will still claim that 30fps makes it somehow "worse" though while talking out their ass about a technical concept they don't understand.
Thx for your opinion lmao
60fps is objectively better than 30fps
@@wausjackbauer128 congrats u can nootice a bigger number
@@DkKobaADV actually the congratulations should be given to anyone who can't notice the difference between 30fps and 60fps.
Ignorance is bliss.
@wausjackbauer128 I game on a 144hz monitor and I can tell when it's relevant. You're yapping
Soooo I did play 1000 year door when it originally came out. I enjoyed it a lot. But… I strongly believe the first game was better. While I did really like 1000 year door… even LOVED many parts of it…. The first game with the Stars… and being Peach in her castle getting to explore it…. The follower characters… all the Toad “T” characters.. I think it was better. Like I loooove having original paper Mario characters, but the ones in the original were soooo good and unique versions of Mario type characters! That Spanish Boo with her fan? Literally Queeeeen yaaas girl!! That fat mid life crisis boob lady in sequel? I don’t remember eeevvvverrrr using you in my party.
Nintendo should have remade the original game after RPG theeeeennn the next year do 1000 year door. All the others can be ignored (I did love Origami King but obviously doesn’t need a remake already)
Bow wasn't Spanish. She was what the Japanese would call an _ojou_ , an elegant, proper, and high-class young lady.
Subjectively, I absolutely agree with you. However, it can't be denied that TYD made many objective improvements over its prequel.
Yeah I always feel like I'm in the minority for preferring PM64 over TTYD. There are some parts that I really liked about TTYD, but there were other parts that I didn't like so much, and overall I found PM64 more enjoyable.
That said, TTYD absolutely deserves this remake treatment and I will definitely be getting this on day one.
Mmmhm..Reading this sure was... something.
Yeah pm64 was better but thousand year door is a great sequel
Then Nintendo went: paper mario is for kids
Everyone feel free to point out the lower frame rate it. It is a flaw of the game and it is a valid criticism but please do it without devaluing the hard work of the developers The original game aged like a fine wine, visually despite being a little rough around the edges and now they went above and beyond it made it look even better. Don’t get me wrong. I would love to have graphical fidelity, and a high frame rate I do play all my third-party games on my PS five but with the switch, you can’t, you can’t really have your cake and eat it too
I wonder why they chose 30 fps for remake
because it actually doesn't matter very much for a 2.5D game
Because the switch is really weak. As the video shows it’s a big improvement to be at 60fps like in the original. Maybe the switch 2 will get an enhanced port with 60fps.
Just wanna let you all know, I’m not buying this game unless it still has the Flavio Glitch in it
Not going to lie...Gamecube is still better than switch...unfortunately 😅
Agreed
shame there's no 60fps
Why this game is 30 fps?? Are they drunk on nintendo, a lot of people say you dont need a 60 fps, but is much better and smother 60 fps, im not blind. So wtf is going on with nintendo ? Hello!?
i hope the final game isn't 30 fps like this preview is. that would be so tragic.
I think it is.
tell us where it looks worse because of framerate. Actually, explain how framerate benefits video games. People like you talk out their ass when framerate matter much more for games like FPSs where camera movement happens often and the lower the framerate, the higher the blur when turning. This is a 2.5D game where that doesn't matter. Stop complaining about something you don't even understand.
@@DkKobaADV frame rate is a quality of life thing. i’m used to 144 because that’s what my monitor is capable of displaying when i play pc games. more frames is more information available to you sooner, in games where there are near frame perfect timing (like in this game with counter attacks) a higher frame rate allows you to more accurately time them. if you don’t think a higher frame rate is beneficial in any way then maybe you shouldn’t be trying to have this conversation and you DEFINITELY shouldn’t be so condescending because it’s even more embarrassing when you’re wrong like you are here. 30 frames in 2024 when the original game output 60 is not acceptable, thousand year door is my second favorite game of all time so i’ll be buying it regardless, but 20 years after the original came out this is just not acceptable.
@@WoodenHouseayylmao you wrote up a whole paragraph just to be completely wrong. You notice the difference on a monitor because your mouse moves a lot rapidly and a lower refresh rate shows motion blur.
Also I used to speedrun this game and 99.9% of players will not notice the framerate for gameplay reasons, so calm down.
Framerate is not useful for 2D and 2.5D games without intense movement and you're complaining for absolutely nothing other than to feel smart about nooticing 30 is less than 60
@@DkKobaADV i’m sure you don’t care about this game being 30 fps because you’re used to being given the bare minimum by nintendo which is fine, but don’t get upset when others have valid criticisms about a 2024 is capped at 30 fps. your comment annoyed me so much i had to write a second one, ttyd doesn’t need to be an fps for it to benefit from higher frames, you could play pong and enjoy the game more at 60 vs 30. people like you are the reason nintendo thinks it’s okay to keep making 30 fps games in the current year because you’ll keep buying them, i couldn’t even finish princess peach show time because i felt like i was running through mud. breath of the wild felt awful to me back in 2017 but i played it until completion, played it again recently via emulation and it was night and day. don’t get mad at me for expecting more than acceptable.
So gamecube still the better version, 60fps ftw!!
But it has significantly worse graphics.
@@SaltyToad00shiny carpet, shiny dirt paths in the switch version.
@@Acanofalconpunch And that makes this version worse, how? If anything, that's an upgrade because it makes the game seem more like a world made out of arts and crafts.
I think it was just the trailer running at 30p.
Imagine saying that when most people (probably including you) would be playing this on pc day 1, frame rate doesn’t even matter the pc port people usually do will fix it and throw in bunch of other stuff like mods and junk. So saying GameCube is better is pretty dumb in that sense is clearly better Upgrade
And thats all folks. We have reached peak graphical power. 20 years difference and not much different.

It runs at a different frame rate because it's using the engine The Origami King ran on, which also ran at 30. And I'm not even sure if that's correct. For all we know, the game could be running at 60 but it's compressed down to 30.
Does 30fps really change anything? I know it's slightly harder to do precise inputs, but do you really need that in TTYD????
I believe it runs at 30 because that's what the Japanese trailer was recorded at. Game could be 60
