- Nintendo is gradually bringing back some of the GameCube classics, with it now being the turn of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which arrives on Nintendo Switch as a remake that closely resembles the excellent work done with Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. We've played the first few hours of this epic Super Mario adventure and we'll show you 15 minutes of exclusive gameplay from one of the best Nintendo Switch games for 2024.

They kept fire emblem toad
They removed Goombella flirt/fighting goombas, the Gameboy SP and it's ringtones
Grubba sounds interesting when he talks.

@@Acanofalconpunch They didnt remove mailbox sp or the ringtones, even in the original game there were emails you would get that would not halt gameplay
One of the best subtle changes they made is making different sound effects for the text depending on who is talking. I feel like it makes the characters really stand out more. Kind of reminds me of undertale
Pretty much everything in Undertale is inspired by or homages to earlier games - this type of dialogue noise has a long history. Banjo-Kazooie is probably the most memorable example.
The detail Nintendo put in this game. Mario looking up when Hooktail is passing by the enemies giving their angry face before battling, Mario looking in the sky at Glitzville from far away. Things that in GC didnât have. Just loving it â€
Wait thatâs a seriously nice touch, your battle requirement for the Glitz Pit is always right there, thatâs incredibly helpful

The music for the glitzpit battles is *chefs kiss* they did a great job sprucing up the sound track.
The new fast travel room looks great! I'm glad it's accessible from central Rougeport.
Yea i know it's way better imo i just hope they add more content for the post game like luigies story or a boss rush where you can re fight the bosses st any time like in mario and luigi that's what the remake Needs.
Im curious about those two big blocks in the room too
@@anthonygarland8839 Yea i know hopefully they take you to another new room like s boss gauntlet where you can re fight the games bosses i know it's a stretch but they wouldn't just add those blocks there just to be destroyed with nothing inside them right.
@@anthonygarland8839 There was a Shine Sprite and an FP Plus Chest in the original Blue Pipe rooms. Maybe that's what's inside the blocks?

Yeah, in the original it just straight-up halved your HP, FP, and Star Power.
It seems to remove 1/3 instead of 1/2. Not a huge dropoff, but it doesnt look like much since mario doesnt have much max hp in the clip

Especially if you used the double pain badge. Poison Shroom slots would just be instant death.

12:19 86 badges? The original had 85, so the only new one is the gamecube sounds one? That's kinda sad, but i couldnt have asked for a better badge than the gamecube sounds badge! So glad we are actually getting that, just really hope we can get it from the start of the game or during chapter 1 at worst
I saw some footage where they got it around the same time as Power Smash, so it's safe to say that we can get it very early.

I like how this looks - a blend of the Old and New.
You can tell from a look that everything's made of paper and cardboard and such, but it doesn't get all in-your-face about that fact like the newer games do - The Paper is a stylistic choice, rather than a crucial element that the whole game revolves around.

Iâm kinda disappointed that the characters donât appear behind Mario in the title screen like the original, because to me, thatâs what makes it charming and nostalgic, but after hearing that each partner you recruit, theyâll appear at the title screen, which I find pretty fitting, so I guess itâs a fair trade off

@@chrisconroy6445it seems that they redid the localization as more of the dialogue is being changed from the og English version. Not to spoil, but two other changes Iâve noticed so far is:
Hooktails weakness is now a frog sound effect instead of a cricket, and she actually explains why sheâs weak to it. (She got really bad food poisoning from a frog)
Bedlam refers to her and her sisters as âthe three shadowâ instead of âthe shadow sirensâ and while we donât see much of that dialogue, she seems to be going out of her way to not mention that theyâre sisters. (Maybe theyâre bringing implications of Vivian being trans into this remake?)
Oh, also, the game in general seems closer to the Japanese version as things like the logo and TECs led arenât localized like they were in the og localizations

I find it amazing that the game runs at 30 FPS, yet the animation looks smoother than the original version which ran at 60 FPS. Honestly, I am super impressed.

Honestly, the gameplay looks really good. I can't wait to play It. It looks actually really good. I mean, the original was really good. A little bit, but this one is way interesting. Oh man. I can't wait to play this for the first time. And just imagine what they will do to the other paper Mario games like paper Mario 64 super paper Mario. Like those would be really good in remakes. But anyway, I am really excited for this

Why did people think the fire Emblem kid wouldn't be there?
People get mad at the artstyle change because it is "too papery" like the modern games, they just want an excuse to hate on the smallest changes to what they perceive as a fault from the later entires.
Practically, I think they need to clear some legal hurdle just to reference their own property, if they put him there in the trailer and some how they couldn't clear it, people are still going to be mad.
Personally i still thought he would be there, but I just wondered if he would reference fe7 on gba nso expansion pass instead or maybe fe 3 houses or fe engage instead.
